I did find a caregiver. But, I thought the site was difficult to navigate. Using the site for the first time was very challenging. I also think it is quite expensive although I didn't know how to find a caregiver any other way besides going through a company and that way you don't always get quality people. So maybe paying a bit more will be worth it in the end. I am hopeful.
I sent a request for pet sitting, however the provider could not accommodate the request, care.com still charged me. There is no phone number and they make it difficult to connect to discuss issues, you email and wait for a response. Horrible customer care
You have to pay $20 a month to respond to messages and apply to jobs. My account was also just completely terminated for posting a picture of my sons "playroom"... and they "notified the community" that I was terminated. So now 89 people in my area probably think that I actually did something bad.
Stay away from this site. There are other ways to find great care givers for your loved ones. Finding care through a local home health agency is the way to go. They do all the screening, finger printing and check references before hire. This site charges customers to even write a review for care givers and or anyone that have used their service. What a disappointment, I would not use this site or recommend it to anyone.
This company has shady business practices. I signed up for a free trail, never received any notification of auto renewals and they charged all different amounts for nine months. I don't handle checking account, my husband does and thought it was for something else. I called them and i am trying to get resolution. This company is a scam.
Hi Max! All of our subscriptions auto renew until set to cancel and this is clearly outlined at the time of purchase before selecting a subscription. At Care.com, we know that the process of finding the perfect caregiver is no easy task and we set out to make that experience as helpful and seamless as possible. We cannot know for certain which stage of the search/hiring process each customer is in, so we put the control in our member’s hands to inform us when they have fulfilled their caregiving needs. Feel free to email us at careteam@care.com if you want us to review your account and see if you qualify for a refund. We wish you all the best!
Your site was much better two years ago. Seem you are 'double-dipping' pn two ends: providers and those needing care. When a person (needing care) puts out a broadcast message and a potential provider responds--the original broadcaster should be able to respond. Second, your customer service sucks big time. One should have a phone number, not just a email and 'get back to you in one or two days'. Care.com is looking for, and will get, competitors.
I'm so sorry to hear you have been having trouble reaching someone to assist you. Please reach out to us through our Contact us link at help.care.com or through Facebook messenger and we'd be happy to assist. Please include Reference Number REV-005434 in your response.
Trying to contact care.com as a past premier customer, seems impossible given their customer service changes over the last two years. Used to be able to speak to someone directly, then by text, now only by email. This company is going down the tubes and would not trust them worth a 'sh*it' this past year. Maybe they only communicate through a foreign country, beware, do not give credit cards to these people, try another company local to your area-that goes for providers (losing patients), and possible users of the services as potential clients. Down hill. They are double dealing--both charging providers and clients at the same time. This should be illegal! Was a customer, no more, surely (presumably) are now controlled or owned by a foreign concern--not by clients that need immediate assistance.
I signed up on care.com hoping to find a legit job caring for animals and the first response came through my phone via a fake number from Google, and the scammer posed as a "disabled lady who was moving from California to my area and needed a dog-sitter". "She" sent a cashiers check for over $2,000 and I knew it was a scam. My second response came through my phone the same exact way and it was "a guy moving from Idaho to my area and needed a dog-sitter".
Lessons: Don't put your phone number or Email on random websites and if you still want to apply for care.com, only take responses from the site itself, and even then there is no guarantee there won't be a scammer or two after you. Also, Do Not Ever put a check into your bank account without checking its validity first!
They've been taking unauthorized payments of $47 from my credit card for almost 2 years, for a subscription that was cancelled after just one month. I've tried multiple times to reach a person to discuss this issue, and also followed the links to cancel subscription in the original email, but the links are all broken. No invoices, no reminders, no renewal notices, nothing. Just taking my money.
As stated in our Terms of Use and twice on the upgrade page when you had initially signed up, all of our subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled. This is a setting you can edit at any point after upgrading in your Account & Settings page by selecting the Downgrade option. We're so sorry if you had a negative experience on the site and we'll pass your feedback along.
I did not like free Bait and then if you want to actual connect with someone it is minimum $38. Then i bought a full year and it is "hey how about background check for additional... " Free trial in my world is try for once free and oh by the way here is cost moving forward is x. Why play games when the truth works better?

I am very disappointed in care.com. While I did find a baby sitter, their customer service and charging tactics were not worth the trouble. I signed up for one month and found a caregiver quickly and they proceeded to continue to charge my credit card month after month after month without ever sending an email, statement, or anything notifying me of charges taken on my credit card. Any other company on auto pay, sends statements telling me I am about to be charged. I filed a dispute and the are refusing to refund my money even though I never agreed to these charges or used the website after the first month. Very frustrated...
Tip for consumers:
watch your credit card! they will continue to charge you every month whether you want them to or not:(
Within a day I was sent 30 plus email from so called babysitters. I was just trying to learn about their site to see if they offered sitters for every now and then. Most of the people sending me their info, were wanting more of a nanny gig. Many of the people who emailed me made no sense in what they were saying. A very harassing website.
I am unable to change my account settings to reflect my current location. The fee associated with use to simply find a provider is extremely high and becomes a barrier to finding care in a field that is already incredibly difficult to reach. Not being able to set my pay rate as low as providers are setting their pay rate is frustrating and inaccurate. The site was created for affluent dual income households and not catered to provide a level of support for the average American parent.

With so many negative comments, I thought I would offer my very positive experience! I've had a profile on care.com for about 3 1/2 years now. Being cautious about sharing too much info, and staying educated and aware of scams, I've had very good results... a steady stream of excellent connections and jobs. My schedule stays as busy as I want and I've received excellent reviews (without ever asking) from the families I've worked with, many of whom I am glad to now call friends.
Thanks care.com.
Care.com is such a waste of money. I posted a nanny position and got numerous "applicants" who were actually scammers. I would almost always respond and never get replies back. Also, the very few real applicants were garbage. Extremely rude and unprofessional. I will never use this site again.
Where do I begin? Care.com is full of scammers sending email or texts... even placing calls to nannies seeking jobs. This is becoming so often, that I can honestly tell you that at least half of the people that have contacted me are scammers. If Care.com is taking my money in good faith, I expect them to confirm the identity of the people contacting us nannies. How can Care.com not protect us? We are paying a monthly fee to be able to access the job database and we are not even getting out monies worth.
Tip for consumers:
Patricia Cole is the latest scammer that has contacted me claiming to live in Sugarland, Texas. Her email is *******@contractor.net and the number is out of Nevada *******522 Honest people are trying to find an honest boss to work for, but it seems futile with so many scammers on www.care.com I am not getting my monies worth out of the membership.
After being a member of care.com for over 6 years, I logged in the other day, as I do from time to time when I need to make extra money, and found I now need to pay so a family can view my application? Most of those going to care.com do not have much money to begin with and some depend on the extra jobs they get from care.com. Very disappointed they would treat their long time customers this way. I used to even recommend it to parents looking for sitters. I moved over to sittercity.com.
I feel cheated by Care.com. I accidentally checked out with the "Background Check" monthly service and was charged $240 for a service that I did not intend to buy and they will not refund me. It was very confusing to understand and navigate what you were buying on their site with no descriptions or details on the different premium packages and no "verification" page to confirm your purchase before being charged. Would not recommend.
Hi Gabrielle, We are a paid subscription service and not a free service. I'm sorry if you thought otherwise and therefore felt mislead. That was never our intention. Many sites like ours charge a fee in order to be able to offer you the features our site offers. Otherwise we'd just be like any other free classified site with very little to offer.
I used the service as a caregiver and had relatively good success. However, I canceled my subscription and eventually got a promotional offer to get 3 months of premium for $10/month.
They charged me for the 3 months in January, then in February proceeded to charge me the full fee for premium. And every month after.
In May I canceled my membership once I realized what was going on and in June they still charged me.
I contacted their "support" which is extremely hard to locate, and they told me they have no record of any transaction for me after November 2020! I'm now in a lengthy dispute, since it's 4/5 days between responses from them.
The site is clunky, difficult to use, and if you're a caregiver its impossible to search for other caregivers like a babysitter for my son.
Stay far far away!
Seriously, people here are complaining that no one hires them. I do not mind paying for background checks or payroll services/tax services for household help, but charging me to review applicants is stupid. 8/10 applicants are not qualified or matched what I was seeking. I do not want a college student looking to make a buck while they are on break. Bad business model.
I wish that I had read reviews of this company before I decided to contact them. There's no need for me to go into any further details about this company or their dubious business practices and services beyond that which dissatisfied clients already have delineated clearly in the majority of reviews that appear on SiteJabber. Suffice it to say that I closed my account.
Tip for consumers:
You stand a better chance of finding what you want on craigslist.
Hello Norton,
I apologize for your negative experience with us. Feel free to comment on what the specific issue was and I'll do my best to assist you. I look forward in hearing your response!
The website is informative however it is a bit convoluted. Perhaps a minimal aesthetic would be helpful in navigating the plethora of options (membership plans, perks, tiers, highly rated care, etc.) available.
Hello Melinda, We appreciate your review. We'll be sure to share your feedback with our management team.
There is no way to get customer support. I've tried to update my account information but 1) I was unable to do so on the website 2) the online chat function didn't respond for over 10 mins 3) the email I received welcoming me to the premium program did not have have a contact number, as the website suggests, and the email address did not accept replies. Very frustrating.
Hi Rylan, I’m sorry you are having trouble reaching us. It was difficult to add a credit card- says card expiration date wrong and took several tries but finally got in. Fear not being able to sign back in if I sign out.
Next problem is that a provider said she could not read my job.
Another time my account was blank and said I had no applicants when yesterday I had two.
Clearly there are some IT problems.
I've got so many useless response for my job posting and I hired one old lady as nanny and didn't know that she was still looking for another job for more and more money. She quit the job after working at my home for few days. Applicants are not committed, either they're old ladies or very young girls as babysitter.
I'm not going to use the site again and never recommend to any of my friends.
I apologize if you had a negative experience with us, Mahin. I can understand how frustrating this can be. I suggest leaving a review on the caregiver's profile to share with your experience with them to other families that might be interested in hiring them. If you need further assistance, please email us at careteam@care.com. We are also on Facebook and Twitter. Best wishes!
Don't sign up for Care.com! I signed up solely to apply for a job listing I found linked elsewhere. As soon as I finished my profile, I immediately got a TON of spam email from other "employers." They are definitely selling your email address on this site! The icing on the cake was finding out that I have to PAY to apply to jobs. Absolutely ridiculous! Makes me doubt that anyone using this site is legit at all!
Care.com is a shoddy service that simply doesn't interact with it's clients. You can never get a live body. It's automated, but their programs never work properly. The fastest they have resolved any of the many problems they have is about two and a half days. Finally, they lure you in with one stated fee, but once that's paid, there are additional costs when you interact with one of their contractors. And I often get random billings that were not disclosed and are not explained. They get your credit card information and continue to add fees and costs indiscriminately.
Stay away from Care.com!
I contacted many potential nannies and babysitters through Care Dot Com, however I either did not received any returned messages or the girls never showed-up for our scheduled interviews.
I am learning that an online service, such as Care Dot Com, may not be a helpful resource as the virtual world does not have many people who would need to be accountable because of their "anonymity".
Finding people through word-of-mouth or through a friend, co-worker, colleague is much more reliable as people are more inclined to be reliable and accountable when their reputation is a part of the equation.
I would not recommend signing-up for Care Dot Com and their services because their profile of people are not dependable. I literally contacted every nanny/sitter in our area, close to 45 recipients, and nothing transpired from my pursuits to find one.
Save your money and use flyers or word-of-mouth to find reliable people.
