I did find a caregiver. But, I thought the site was difficult to navigate. Using the site for the first time was very challenging. I also think it is quite expensive although I didn't know how to find a caregiver any other way besides going through a company and that way you don't always get quality people. So maybe paying a bit more will be worth it in the end. I am hopeful.
I sent a request for pet sitting, however the provider could not accommodate the request, care.com still charged me. There is no phone number and they make it difficult to connect to discuss issues, you email and wait for a response. Horrible customer care
I have found 2 quality care givers on this site. I have had to do my due diligence though because there have been some people who were duds… one refused me because of my looks (asked for a picture and then refused once they saw me), and some have views that were not consistent with our family values. But that just means you need to interview and have a trial visit before hiring.
It is really frustrating that i cannot hire a sitter without "upgrading" to a premium membership. I should be allowed access to basic features. When i go to hire, i keep getting a message that says "technical error, that's all we know! Try again or upgrade to premium membership!" This has been happening for a week. It is clearly designed to not work so that the user will be forced to purchase a premium membership. I think that's pretty crappy and will immediately cancel after i hire my sitter and move to contact them directly. Scam. Shame on you care.com team.
Hi Melanie, We are a paid subscription service and not a free service. I'm sorry if you thought otherwise and therefore felt mislead. That was never our intention. Many sites like ours charge a fee in order to be able to offer you the features our site offers. Otherwise we'd just be like any other free classified site with very little to offer.
I had surgery and needed a temporary dog walker and found care. The person who came was obviously not a dog person as you could see how scared they were. I have a friendly but bigger dog. Needless to say it didn't work out and i notified Care the i no longer needed their services. My bad not checking my bank statement but over the past couple of years they have been collecting $35 from me and even though i don't use their service they are not going to give me a refund.
Beware of Danica P. On care.com. I had extenuating circumstances which caused me to have to quit. She refused to pay me for my last 20 hours of work. Put hard work into those hours and gas money to get there. Just because someone quit doesn't make it right to not pay them. Should be allowed to rate the parent for being unfair.
Hi Courtney, I'm sorry to hear about the experience you had with your last employer. If you'd like to make a report about this, feel free to reach out to our Member Care department or send me a private message with more details. I would also recommend creating a nanny contract before accepting your next job offer to avoid any confusion in how you should be paid for your work, and I will definitely take down your feedback about having a rating system for families on the site!
I have had nothing but headaches from care.com. I am locked out of TWO different accounts. It won't accept my password and the link to reset is NEVER received by me. In order to cancel a recurring charge last year I had to contact my credit card company. I dislike the way this company does business, but it's the only game in town.

Care.com only gives a hoot about how much money they can charge you monthly, and hope you don't catch them, as You are automatically signed up to the default premium subscription of $41. Per month. They do not give refunds under any circumstances, and make it impossible to call and contact them, and even hide how to cancel your subscription. It is disgraceful!
Tip for consumers:
If you are looking for healthcare services, or babysitting service
I have tried to cancel so many times and the site makes it so complicated. You can only cancel from a computer--not your phone or tablet. They have continued to bill my card for many, many months after my cancellation. They also do not screen candidates well. Please be very careful, I am sorry I ever gave them my credit card. BUYER BEWARE!
Tip for consumers:
Don't use this site!!!!!!!!!!

Every month several people apply for a job in order to keep you subscribed by believer there are actually caregivers using the program. NONE of the people ever show up to interviews and they all have the same line of excuses. There is no coincidence this large and consistent. Of course there must be some people that successfully use the program but the majority of it is filler by fake accounts to make the system seem robust.

Hi Matthew!
Thank you for your feedback! I am sorry to hear you are having trouble finding a caregiver. If you would like, please PM me the full name, email and city/state listed on the account. I would be happy to assist you! I would also recommend to leave reviews for caregivers who did not show up for their interview times.
I've used this site to find jobs over the past 8 years. It is an extremely helpful resource, and I think it is run really well. One suggestion I would give that I think would make a huge difference, would be to require people posting jobs to add more details about the job. I can't tell you how many times I've looked through listings only to see that the only description of what the job entails is: " we need a babysitter please be comfortable with pets" with a very large range of hours and pay rate. I don't waste my time applying to jobs that don't give good details about the hours, how many kids, ages, area they live (doesn't need to be an address). Also, care.com should give feedback to employers about the difference between hiring a nanny or a babysitter, because there are huge differences between the two.

I've never used this service before and there's no tutorial on how to do it. The only thing on this site that's easy to do is spend more money. I've messaged a potential pet sitter. I'm assuming I need to hear back from her before hiring but, other than a message button, there's only a 'pay now'' button.
If she responds, I hope it will be soon and that I'll be alerted. This is an urgent request.

I signed up to hopefully, find someone to clean my home. I got no responses to my replies or, the candidates lived too far away. I used the service for five days in May and found it useless. I communicated this to Customer Service and expected a refund, their response, NO REFUND. Huge black mark in my eyes and will steer anyone away from this company who is seeking these kinds of service. Care.com - you really flunked.
I could ramble at length about what a horrendous company care.com is but if you dare wander down that wretched road they offer, buyer beware. Caregivers profiles are not legitimate. They will not communicate with you past the initial message. You will not find a caregiver on this site and they will happily take your money. Then they will cancel your membership. All the customer service is from India and they know nothing about the evil company for which they work. Take my experience as a warning and avoid care.com.
I signed up for one month and they billed me continually for 6 months. They did finally cancel and pay me back two months but I was still out $100 AND the cleaners are mostly a scam. They say they will work for $15 hour and when you call them and say you want them to come in for 3 hours, most of them said it's $90 ($30 hr) many don't reply,,, the whole site is sadly one big fraud. I'm still out the money
I signed up for Care.com and found a really nice nanny. However, finding that nanny took too many hours of scrolling through a poorly set up site. Site is not consumer friendly.
Once my subscription ended, I was given an option of 12 months for $50. I signed up for it thinking it was a great deal. Today, 6 months later, I am charged $50 dollars again. After calling Care.com, they said it was a mis-print and they would not honor the 12 months. POOR BUSINESS! After reviewing the other reviews on here, Please look elsewhere for care services for your loved ones.
They continue to bill after you have cancelled your subscription, or at least, did in my case and I see in others too. They do not provide email confirmation of cancellation routinely. I would just say if you are already using this site that it's not enough to cancel via the website's link, you must get written evidence from them that you have cancelled so at least when you need to try to get your money back if you are fraudulently billed later it's a clear case.
Dear Care.com. No need to pass the information onto the correct department. They are well aware. Making matters worse, I believe I rank in the top 1 % of caregivers on Care.com with over 40,5 star parent reviews. Care.com has made it clear to me that they don't care...
Thanks for your feedback, Suzi. We'll forward this to the correct department for you. Best of luck to you!
I attempted to contact several care providers at Care.com, only one of whom replied. When I requested a screening phone interview, I never received a response. I paid Care.com to connect me with people who would be available but were not. After I made the the initial membership payment that was required to contact anyone, Care.com then stated that none of the caregivers were vetted in any way and I would need to complete background checks. Care.com advertised services I needed but could not acquire.
Went through the long process of making an account to register as an individual babysitter, but since I'm only 17 I needed my mom to make an account as well. She was asked a bunch of unrelated questions, some including old addresses (which I NEVER put in, so I have no clue how they got that information) then was given an error message. I was scrolling through jobs at this time, so when she told me that I tried to look at my account settings, but was given an error message and told to try again later. Tried the main page as well, but only the "community" page was working. A few hours later, I tried to log in again. Only to find that my account was deleted. I registered my email, facebook, and number, but somehow all of this was wiped from record. I'm just glad I didn't give them any money.
Those looking to register: Don't waste your time.
It should have told us in the beginning that the yearly discount price with a lower monthly charge was going to be charged for the whole yr. At once. Otherwise, once I put in my cc info. That's when I found out & I thought I could pay the lower rate per month, which made it more affordable for me, so now I had to start over & put in my cc info. Again etc. People don't like to find out at the end right before paying.

I used the site to find a tutor for my son and thought I had to pay for only that month.
Without a warning or a email they charged me continuously for the next 9 months.
They send emails about all the crap promotions etc but no email about my credit card being charged. This site is making money of people who don't use their service and but have signed up without reading about their stupid auto renewal policy. It is a scam!
Not sure if there any law where we can prevent users from being take advantage off. I heard the lady who started this site wanted to help people! Clearly not if she is taking money for service people have never used! I will never use this site.
Hi Karina, We do state on our upgrade page that all subscriptions are automatically renewed until cancelled. This is also in our Terms of Use that you agreed to upon enrollment. Please refer to our Terms of Use to review these policies. As soon as you upgrade your account, you can cancel the subscription at any point before the renewal date to not be auto renewed in your Account & Settings page, or by contacting our Member Care department. We apologize for your experience, and do hope you were able to find the care you were looking for.
I don't like all the "add-ons". A local respite group suggested the site, and I do not mind paying for services, but this was really closer to bait-and-switch that straightforward service. Like a site that hooks you on the services then tries to get you to buy product, as this is their true goal. You would be fare more credible if you put ALL the options and costs up front before people go through all the steps to develop their job description, etc.

I paid for a background check which was pretty expensive to begin with way more then it used to be. My background check was fine and I still had mothers questioning if I was an ok person. The mothers and fathers on here are some of the most disrespectful and judge mental people I've met. They have hung up on me mid sentence, lied about how many kids I will be in charge of, told me I was hired only to let me go after a week because they "can't afford" a sitter but can afford 3 cars and private school. Most of the parents don't know a good sitter when they see one and end up hiring someone in high school with no experience rather then a nanny with 10 years of experience and a degree just because of the way the person looks. Most of the parents hiring will cut your hours because they don't want to pay for your services.
Not only does the website not tell you you're signing up to hire, not be hired, but you have to create 2 profiles AND pay a membership just to find work. Excuse me but I'm trying to make money not spend money, screw your corporation. Too expensive, too confusing, not designed well. I'd give it 0 stars if I could.
Care.com's business model is basically to trap you into a non-refundable year long subscription. My experience is they did not vet care givers well and consequently it attracts scammers. I was stood up twice by a nanny that had great reviews. They seem to push the good reviews and hid the bad reviews and most care givers have zero experience so you are opening yourself up to anyone. Care does not offer care givers training or standardization in the people that are allowed to offer "care". They charge a hefty monthly fee and make it difficult to cancel siting errors in your request hoping you forget then they keep charging you monthly and will not give you your money back. Terrible business model.
Tip for consumers:
Better to ask people you know and trust for recommendation. Care.com attracts questionable caregivers so please be careful!

This website nickel and dimes users for everything we want to do on the website and it is not user friendly at all. It's hard to go back and I can't send a request without putting in my credit card information This is ridiculous. I will not be paying for another month of this service. Thank you for your time.
