I did find a caregiver. But, I thought the site was difficult to navigate. Using the site for the first time was very challenging. I also think it is quite expensive although I didn't know how to find a caregiver any other way besides going through a company and that way you don't always get quality people. So maybe paying a bit more will be worth it in the end. I am hopeful.
I sent a request for pet sitting, however the provider could not accommodate the request, care.com still charged me. There is no phone number and they make it difficult to connect to discuss issues, you email and wait for a response. Horrible customer care
Just realized that after cancelling online in 2014 they've been charging my credit card 81 dollars 4 times a year. I used them once the caregiver I hired showed up for 2 days then disappeared. Literally DISAPPEARED. Her family and the police were in my home because as far as they knew she was last known to be in my house. Turned out she ran off to L. A. to meet someone she hooked up with online. I cancelled then but never cancelled the card. Big mistake on my part. Stay away from this site! If there is a class action suit or litigation of any kind I'm in.
Not sure yet, will update rating if I'm able to get messages effectively, and find someone to handle the job. Website is a bit junky and focused more on upgrades and fees than matching caregivers with jobs so far. The reviews on using the App are horrible, so I'll stick with very expensive subscription for now, and if I don't get results, ill cancel before next automatic renewal. (Auto renewals are just bad business. You should have better policies when dealing with your customers money, especially in the business of care)
Good concept but very expensive. Extra charges for everything. Used to be a lot more background checked and verified sitters and now lots of incomplete profiles. Definitely not the same sight it was a few years ago. Very disappointing.

The irony of being a disabled person willing to pay good money for care services only to be compromised in that goal by accessibility problems... I can't tell you how frustrating that is, and what a terrible first impression it gives me of your brand.

I tried care.com twice... 3 yrs apart and had the same results each time. I would post a job and get dozens of responses, but find a diamond among the rocks was next to impossible.
To be fair both times I posted jobs with unusual hours and variable days... I am a nurse. However this was always clearly stated in the job posting. Like I said lots of responses, but most wanted a lot more than I could afford to watch my son. Others would ask questions that were answered in the posting... if they read it.
Both times I met with multiple applicants and filled the position only to have them either flake on me at the last moment or change their availability and rates.
Also took issue with the fact that care.com would advertise having background and MV checks on applicants... but only give you access for additional fees for each applicant.
Save yourself the membership fee!
What a terrible company/website. After spending $70 to find a nanny, they decided to cancel my membership i'm guessing because i gave a bad review to a nanny that fell asleep on the job. I was just trying to help other parents. Here's what they sent me:
"Unfortunately, the decision to close your account is irreversible. Furthermore, when we terminate an account we are not required to disclose the specific reasons as to why the account was removed. Per our Terms of Use, Care.com reserves the right, among other things and in its sole discretion, to terminate a membership for any reason or no reason, with or without notice."
What kind of company does this... uh sir, we've cancelled your service but we won't tell you why. They have sent me the above canned response 3 times.
Hello Steve,
As you mentioned, the decision to remove anyone without disclosing specific information for closure is a policy that all our members agree to when enrolling. Safety is a top priority of ours, we try create an online community that is safe for all our members. I honestly apologize for the negative experience you had with us but appreciate your understanding and hope for the best in your future endeavors.
After being with this company as a service provider they suddenly cancelled my account! No reason. I was paying them every month and had terrific luck and reviews. Then boom! I'm out! Funny thing is I'm getting calls from people I spoke with 3 months ago and my business has tripled! Guess I won you morons! Beware that they will cancel you for no good reason and without warning. I've filed two reports with different agencies regarding care.com. I have in writing that both state agencies are 'well aware of egregious activity on behalf of Care.com' HA! Keep it up you morons in Waltham.
We're so sorry you feel that way, Nina. As a membership-based online community, Care.com reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate a member's Care.com membership for any reason or no reason, with or without notice. We wish you all the best.
I got several errors when trying to update my job posting. The automatic grammar in the text box is kind of frustrating. I was trying to say my kids are 3.5 years old but it kept putting a space after the period. I honestly don't like that its helping people sound more educated. I'd rather see exactly what someone writes.

Reading these reviews are quite concerning. I am a college educated, professional & retired registered nurse with extensive private home care experience. I applied for several home caregiver positions and did not receive any viable responses. I paid for a background check as recommended. The only potential client told me that a paid member agency contacted them and strongly discourage against hiring independent caregivers.
DO NOT fall prey to the deceitful business practices of this website company. They offer a one month subscription but hidden in the fine print is an automatically recurring charge unless you cancel. Why would you cancel something you only signed up for one month!
Customer service representatives useless and once they have your money "there's nothing we can (WILL) do"
Hi Sharon,
I’m very sorry about your experience with Care.com.
Care.com is an auto renewing service, as stated clearly on the upgrade page. You are also notified of this policy in your enrollment confirmation email, and it is in our terms of use that you agree to upon enrollment. This is a setting that you can manage on your own within your account, or you can call or e-mail us any time before the renewal date to make sure that the subscription is cancelled. We offer auto renewal so that communications with potential caregivers is not ended prematurely, and it is ultimately up to the member to manage their account. Many members like this feature of our service, because it gives them unlimited access to a full database of caregivers.
We apologize for your experience, but do hope you were able to find the care that you family needs.
Regards,
Care.com Member Care Representative
Bottom line... like everyone else paid for one month of service (specifically says one month) continued to be billed. I hate companies like this! So frustrating! Stay away. Thank goodness I have American Express, they stand behind you as a customer and reversed the charges.
Signed for Premium service on 11/3/17, used the service till 11/25/17 and afterwards getting charged in a regular basis without any notification. All communication goes to gmail account under "Promotion" folder. So far around $640+ being charged silently. Found out from latest credit card bill about the regular charge. Called them and response came back that they would remove the premium service and will revert back last charge. Now, my total loss is around $640 with Care.com for this carefully crafted scheme to get money from customers by the name of one month service agreement. What a shame!
I applied with experience for the housekeeper position but was targeted for discrimination due to the sound of my name.
It's hard to find a good flexible job but to wrestle with a company policy without meeting them is disgraceful. They refused to hire me and never explained why nevertheless the position is still available on indeed. I'm a God fearing woman that feel when something is not right. My Lord told me they racist. I hope this company turn from their evil ways and help people earn a living no matter what.
The Earth belongs to God and technically his children should live comfortable without problems.
Care.com discriminates against people based on their name and nationality even though we all human beings.
The Holy Bible instructed me to have compassion and use wisdom to help make life better but Care.com was not concerned because of my name causing confusion, the bible warn me and proves that hatred still exist, woe unto this company!
I've verified myself, paid, and yet my job ad is still showing as "pending". I understand that you are trying to ensure the site doesn't have bots or fake postings (which I appreciate for sure), but at some point, the jobs should go active as soon as certain criteria are met. Regards.

Signed up this morning, paid the premium amount for 3 months. Attempted to message a sitter and received errors. Started a chat to figure out what's going on and apparently my account is closed with my payment pending. The payment has already hit my bank too so not sure how this has happened. The person has no answer for me and claims they'll check into it and email me back but they have no clue when. I came to this site as a last attempt to find before care for my son that I urgently need and it's been nothing but headache since. Your fees are way too high to be dealing with this level of issues. Based on my morning working with Care.com, I would like to have given 0 stars. But apparently that's not possible.

I just signed up and I can tell this site exploits other people's services to squeeze every penny out they can.
Isn't it strange how Care.com doesn't validate people seeking help, but is quick to spread lies about caregivers? Members/subscribers are using Care.com to scam others. Also, Care.com believes anything a subscriber says about a caregiver because the member PAYS them. It is all about money. Caregivers should charge a fee to appear on their lists instead of giving them free recruiting services. Fortunately, I got a great job there and it only led to numerous others by simple word of mouth. Care.com will NOT ruin my fine reputation try as they may.
If it isn't obvious by the amount of 1 star reviews, please stay away from this site.
I had created a free account over 1 year ago under the profile setting that I was searching for a caregiver. I logged in today wanting to switch and now become a caregiver. I was having a hard time but finally found a way to see families requesting care but could not contact them. I assumed I needed to upgrade my account so I paid over $60.
Turns out care.com has separate accounts for people that want care vs caregivers. They will make you close your account, reopen a new one under a new profile, and will make you pay the upgrade fee all over again!
They have also disabled any comments from unhappy members on their resources tab so people can't be warned. What a scam.
I was being blamed for wrong reasons by employer and reviewed me all bad. But when i started explaining things, i was terminated. What does it show? How do people know whats going on in reality. Whats the use of reviewing if you dont let the truth come out?
We used the service, found a sitter who quit the next week. Fine; whatever. Then, I never used the site again; that was 15 months ago. Finally noticed it on my credit card bill and I've been billed $39.95 for 15 months (almost $600). Care.com says it will refund only the current month even thought the admit I haven't logged in in 15 months. I'm pretty wealthy, so it doesn't kill me, but there are a lot of poorer families who this would crush.
I feel like an idiot. Why did I bother with a premium account? Seems like these job postings are NOT legit. These people never hire anyone or even frequent the site... hmmm! It's downgrade time, 2 days in!
Tip for consumers:
Just don't bother.
Hello Tammy,
I apologize for the lack of responses you have been receiving from job postings. To help increase your chances of being hired, we encourage all care providers to pay close attention to the job application. By mentioning a few details from the job posting in your application and describing how you can fulfill those requirements, you will show a potential employer that you carefully read and understand their needs and that you have a strong interest in the position. Moreover, adding reviews, references, and a background check increase the strength of your profile and makes your profile stand out. I hope this helpful and good luck on the job search!
I've lost count of the number of caregivers I've contacted through care.com. I've scheduled countless interviews and we're still without a nanny for our daughter. Simply put, most of the caregivers on care.com are flakes. It's currently 2:16 and yet again, the person we had scheduled to interview is not here (she should have been here at 2:00). Two out of the three people who confirmed they would come today have not shown up.
I'm very frustrated, to say the least. For $45/month care.com should be doing SOME screening of these people. Most of them are clearly not serious. I won't even get into how few of the applicants that applied to our job posting could write in a coherent way...
Hired a nanny through this site for six weeks before going back to work. First day back at work, nanny steals from us. Noticed various things missing but thought we were being forgetful. Realized a large item was missing and upon checking our camera, saw the culprit putting the item into her bag to take home. Very disappointed that caregivers are not vetted more by this site. We did all the background checks, called references, interviewed, etc., after terminating this nanny, we interviewed another nanny and discovered that she was using her boyfriend as one of her references. Stay away from this website and best to rely on recommendations or referrals. While there may be some good caregivers on this site, there is definitely a number of shady ones as well.
I am not one inclined to write reviews but am so angered by the cheating way this company works. I signed up for 1 month, tried to cancel and have paid ever since. They refuse to give refund or apologise for how misleading they are. Plus... when I then logged onto my old account I had the sum total of 3 replies! After 2 years! Hopeless and cheating. AVOID! Gumtree is better.
I got a care giver, that worked out fine. But Beware. If you are signing-up for ONE month. Care.com uses deceptive words. They do not tell you you have to cancel. My feedback from the was: "If you click the orange upgrade button, you will see **All subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled** Nicely hidden. You know you Im right. Im sure care.com thought long and hard how to confuse us for your gain. They would not give me my money back. It took me three months to notice.
A lot of websites, including Care.com, send all kinds of alerts and notifications when there is activity with your account. They should use the same technology for billing so that it's clear that you are paying a monthly fee. Seems self-serving, vague and deceiving.
