I did find a caregiver. But, I thought the site was difficult to navigate. Using the site for the first time was very challenging. I also think it is quite expensive although I didn't know how to find a caregiver any other way besides going through a company and that way you don't always get quality people. So maybe paying a bit more will be worth it in the end. I am hopeful.
I sent a request for pet sitting, however the provider could not accommodate the request, care.com still charged me. There is no phone number and they make it difficult to connect to discuss issues, you email and wait for a response. Horrible customer care
The people needing care should be required to undergo a background check too, not just the caregivers! If you cannot meet in a public place for whatever reason, don't meet! Care.com obviously had good intentions when creating the site, but just like craigslist, you can put yourself in danger if you're not careful. I was contacted by a young man who claimed to need care. We had good communication going for about a week. The last message I sent (all communication was through care.com, therefore everything could be recorded and tracked) I advised since I would be meeting him for the first time "at his residence", I will be bringing a friend. I listed my friend's name so, again it could be recorded and tracked. For his security, I advised that we would both show our state id's before entering his home. No response. Nothing. Just stopped communication. My background check is listed on the site so he knows I'm no criminal. But I will never know who I was actually communicating with.
I am a caregiver and also a mom. I have found 3 wonderful families through this site to sit for, all have been great experiences. I do pay for the background check simply because I would want that if looking for care for my own children. Care.com has never deleted my account, they did upgrade their website and because I was "hidden" at the time I could not access my profile. I sent a quick message to customer service and they fixed it immediately. I also encourage caregivers as well as parents to post a picture of yourself or your family, I have only applied to positions with a picture simply because it gives you a small connection before meeting, it just makes the experience more personable.
You will not even find care companies, or caregivers on this site. Your local pharmacist, doctor, friend, neighbor would be a better lead. Care.com just wants to charge you for the first month, for basic, and for premium (YES, TWICE). They absolutely don't CARE if you find any help you need no matter how bad you might need it. Consider burning your money instead. God Bless You.
When you sign up, they will keep on billing you behind your back, hoping you won't notice the charges because they do NOT send an invoice or bill
Or notification of any kind! With anything you pay monthly you get a bill
Or alert that a withdrawal will
Be made, I. E your cellphone bill, credit cards ect... care.com does not do this! They want you to forget because think
About it who has time to remember to cancel such a insignificant website account?! They prey on that fact that is why they don't send any reminded or notification that you are being billed. Scammers and cheaters. What a Horrible dishonest policy & company!
Do not bother signing up for the premium service. They sneakily submit you to an auto-renewal program with zero warning or monthly billing statement for you to even notice. Out of 35 inquiries and 3 job postings I received 2 replies. For what I paid them I may as well have used a full service agency as it was a short term assignment I was trying to place. Most of all there customer service is atrocious.
Very misleading subscription service. Offers 1,3, or 6 month subscription, then keeps re-billing your credit card. I used it one time, but they re-billed me 5 months ini a row. They said their disclaimer about re-billing was clear, and refused to refund, even though I never used their service thereafter. This is dishonest. If you want to risk your care with such a dishonest company, be fore-warned.
Hi Robin,
We're sorry to hear you misunderstood our subscription and billing policies. As clearly stated on the upgrade page, as well as in the terms of use that you agree to upon enrollment and in a confirmation message, all of our subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled. This is a setting that you can change at any point after upgrading on your Account & Settings page, or you can email or call us any time before the renewal date.
We apologize for your experience, and hope you were able to find the care that you were looking for!
Regards,
Care.com Member Care Representative
I'm a pet sitter and tried to sign up w/care.com Useless! I have much better luck with sittercity or just direct advertising. I spoke with someone at care.com and was less than impressed w/the attitude.
Hi Laura, I'm sorry to hear if you are dissatisfied with the site. If you have any specific questions, I would be happy to look in to your account and help you out! I will be sending you a message as well, and hopefully will be able to assist you in any way I can!
I am a hard-working single mother, and I recently lost my left leg. 20 years ago, I had a charge for retail theft, I took food from a grocery store. 20 years ago.
They charged me $38 three times, then refunded it. This activity triggered a fraud alert for my card, which caused it to be suspended. This is a whole additional hassle.
I am so frustrated and genuinely hurt. I work 50 hours a week, and I'm a full-time student. My son is beginning kindergarten and I have no one to pick him up after school, since I work until 5:30 pm.
What am I going to do now that I've been labeled a threat? Quit my job and go on public aid?

Hi Corrine!
I am sorry to hear your feedback on the site. If you would like to message me with your full name, city/state and email address, I can review your account with you.
WARNING: Read reviews before using this company! Care.com has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. It's impossible to get anyone on the the phone and when making an inquiry online, their help form blocks you until you go through their FAQ multiple times. Even after submitting an inquiry, they send the same message over and over and never actually answer any of your questions. From the looks of it, many have been scammed by this company as well. I wish I had read the reviews before wasting my time.

Discount codes to buy 1 month of service, about $25 and then the lovely auto renew and they charge you $39 for an additional month. You should have a grace period to cancel that. Even if its only 24 hours. Spent $64 and got nothing.
Hi Caitlin S. I apologize if you misunderstood our billing policies. All of our subscriptions do automatically renew until canceled and you can cancel at anytime by downgrading your account or by contacting us at 888-227-3115, or via the contact us link located in our Help section. With that said, if you would like to contact us directly and discuss your membership we would be happy to review it for you.
I received a text message saying I was selected to watch a so called mothers daughter who was in a wheel chair moving to my area and paying $30 hourly. Mom is a Christian abd self employed and deaf. REALLY!
Wants to send me a check to pay myself and give portion to wheel chair third party. To sad for words really that folk got to stoop so low and TRY to play on others for money. Indeed job posting need to check folks and CARE.com needs to check folk's.
My friends in fraud department at police station say they have had numerous complaints so I gave them mine. They think they slick but ain't nothing hid from God. Christian should know that!
I was not aware of membership changes. That should be at the beginning. I felt pressured to make a quick decision. I'm looking for a good caregiver and focused on the candidates. Your site throws that in when our mind set is on loved ones.

Any company that has auto renewal policies is horrible in my book. Why do they even bother having different 1 month, 4 month, 1 year membership subscriptions. Every membership with them is infinite b/c they continue to charge your credit card even if you haven't used the website in months. No- I did not read the fine print- I had a 6 week old baby when I signed up with them. Why do they present it as a 1 month subscription period when that is not the case at all? And the fact that they respond to everyone saying that the auto renewal feature is a benefit to their customers is an absolute joke. At least the company should admit that it's a money-making practice for them.
Hi Lauren, We offer different subscription options because all of our members have different care needs! All of our subscriptions are set to automatically renew because we wouldn't want to interrupt any communications between members when a billing cycle runs out. You can set the subscription to cancel at any point after upgrading in your Account & Settings page, or by contacting our Member Care Team.
There is no "free tier" of services on Care.com. They posted my job description after the initial quiz and then asked for me to pay $42 to see the results, but nowhere does it say what that money is for or what's included with a subscription. There are caregivers wasting their time responding to my job and I can't see their messages or reply back unless I pay $42. It's intentionally an opaque process to bait you into paying because you feel bad.

I used Care.com in 2011 and they continued to charge me after closing my account. I contacted customer services and was refunded appropriately. Used them again last fall and used a promotion code for an upgraded month. I found my provider elsewhere and downgraded my account to the free basic setting. Just discovered months of continued charges on my credit card. Not one notification from Care. Com. When I reached out to customer service, I was told that it is an automatic renewal service and it was my responsibility to downgrade (which I did). I am so disappointed in this service and the blind siding way of business.
Of note, I never write negative reviews about companies and/or services but I hope this will maybe prevent someone else from being taken advantage of by this company. If you have an account, check it now! And save any emails form them (if you get them!)
I have been registered with care.com for 4 years and am still waiting for work. These people waste your time and energy chasing bogus leads. Not worth the headache! PLUS they allow you to fall prey to scammers who can contact you via phone or e-mail, and the calls will not stop unless you threaten to report the people contacting you. Please, do yourselves a favor and stay away from this site!
I used the app for a week. It all seemed to be working but I never got any reply to my job posting. I hope care.com works out better. If my card info was old, bad, NSF, I should have been notified in some way. I had to research on my own and found people that experienced the same thing.
After signing up and seeing the totals page, the site said I had to start over.
Also, the wrong zip code keeps popping up even tho I have corrected it at least 5 times. Pls supply me with a phone # so I can continue trying to find help.

System doesn't allow me to update default search settings. I created this account years ago for pet sitting in a different zip code, but now I'm looking for childcare in a completely different zip code. It would be nice to not have to change the search bar literally every time I open a new page.
Also, the site is confusing to navigate. When does my job posting go up? How can I view it? What does it look like from the caregiver-side? This system is more than a little opaque, and that makes me feel weary.

It is an excellently formatted website. Ease of navigation; conveys security in transactions, Privacy for both Seekers and Applicants is protected,, yet flexible for quick communications.
All of the right Attributes. And, here's my favorite saying... It's a perfect wheel. Don't try to reinvent it!
Care. Com is 5*****'s
I'm single mom who been struggling for financial support apply for many job included care.com think while i'm waiting for some job to contact me back i have time after i drop my son school. I can clean or taking care of children or elderly. Trust and spending a big 45 dollar for membership but once nothing in 3 month for a try on get no job. They keep email me to continue pay for more money to be better membership. I dont think so. I think this website have corrected so much money from people like me.
I signed up as a premium member. Was not able to contact applicants through website. Help section did not work. Very difficult to find contact number. No response despite lengthy wait with customer service. Is this a off shore scam?
Since I created an account in this website, care.com I started receive text messages for people that doesn't exist. They said reply me to my email because I need a babysitter, so I did and after that I founded out that was a scam, they used the phone number *******988 and when I googled it I found really bad reviews. How can care.com give your personal information to everybody without checking.
Hi Gema, Care.com gives you the option to show your phone number on your profile, but you can always remove it by editing your privacy settings. I'm very sorry to hear that you've been contacted by someone who might be fraudulent, we take safety very seriously at Care.com and would appreciate it if you could report this person to our Member Care. Feel free to call 877-227-3115 to make a report and for assistance in hiding your phone number!
I didn't realize everything would cost so much. Help really is expensive nowadays. Why should we have to pay for help finding care? And then the add-ons should come with the subscription. It already costs an arm and a leg.
