I received my first purchase today. It is a triple chinoiserie dresser. I paid $650 for an exquisite piece of furniture. It arrived spotlessly clean and in excellent condition. The driver, Rod was very nice. I have 4 other pieces coming and I can hardly wait. I could never have found this without Chairish. I plan on selling some pieces, too. Chairish, you make furniture shopping amazing. While others are waiting 3 or months or more for pressed wood from inexpensive furniture stores, I am looking at my beautiful dresser that came in 2 weeks. I would love to keep you as my own secret furniture place, but that would be selfish. I hope everyone keeps up this kind of quality recycling.
Who charges their customers an additional service fee of $14.00 to purchase merchandise from their platform? WTH. A $14 service fee is added to each purchase to support their platform. How is that my responsibility? The fee should be absorbed by Chairish or seller. Such a rip off!
I purchased a large, expensive console from chairish.
When it finally arrived it was much, much darker than they showed it online.
I bought it for the fine features that showed up so nicely online but were hidden in the piece I received because of the dark color of the wood.
Chairish refused to do anything about this.
I am still angry and feel that they purposely change the look of the furniture online to make it more appealing to buy.
Very dishonest.
Their service is awful. The people working there are not friendly and they charge 20% for nothing! Might as well craigslist or any other of the tens of websites that offer the same service for FREE!
Stay away!
I have been waiting 4 weeks now for my item. Zero accountability. Customer Support Team is a joke, they shuffle you around so they don't have to take responsibility to deal with you. Definitely contact the seller directly via CL or 1stD and cut these ppl out of the middle they get in their own way! There is something Not Right going on here
I am a seller only. Will say I am appalled by what the unhappy buyers were sent and the condition it was sent in. I'd be livid too. Even though I don't own a store, I'm considered a 'professional'. This is why reviews are so important, not just for unhappy purchases. Downsized home and business and found myself with way too much of everything. So Chairish has been wonderful for me, where else could I sell and get a decent price for my quality pieces. I'm sorry for those who had a bad experience. But while Chairish is the platform, many (not all) issues are just bad sellers. 90% of my items I pay to have them packed. Sounds like many of these people are just too cheap to make sure your piece arrives in excellent condition.
Tip for consumers:
Sellers - get your items professionally packed if the item is worth a couple hundred dollars or more. Or is difficult to pack on your own. UPS does a great job. It will save you time and money. Would you want to be treated like some of the buyers posting on here have been?
Don't quite understand why Chairish feels they need to charge sellers more money, 10% increase, They take way to long to pay sellers, 6 weeks after item is sold. They, Chairish, are paid once item is sold. They also have the audacity to offer sellers an "Elite Seller Program". For only 150.00 a month you get the same benefits. The only difference is getting paid 50% of sale once it is picked up. Lol. You guys are hilarious!
Seller Beware! I am considering sending the company a bill for all the time I wasted trying to list my tables---their software doesn't work and badly needs to go back to beta testing. Their form consistently clears correctly entered fields--I finally had to call the company to list and, oh look, their voice mail box is full! Wonder why. Then I have an interested buyer who wants updates and their message software won't allow my response to go through because it claims the message includes URLs, email addresses and telephone numbers which it most certainly does not. This might have been a good idea on paper but company is a hot mess.
As a full time vintage online seller - using mainly Etsy and Ebay I was highly dissatisfied with Chairish. The lack of communication and time period between sold and payment is shocking. I sold two chairs on December 10th and was super excited about the white glove pick up. But now have waited over 7 weeks to receive payment for them, along with no updates or communication about when funds will be released. Plus Chairish takes 20% commission. Not worth the wait or fee. I won't sell with them again. Still waiting on payment...
Wow don't understand the negative reviews. Have been selling on Chairish for several years, including large pieces of furniture. All positive! Even have had a repeat buyer. The white glove delivery service takes time and you must make sure your piece is loaded well and extra pieces, like hardware are put securely with the pfurniture. The movers are movers, not vintage/antique furniture lovers.
For the jacked up prices and inflated shipping and handling, you might expect to get items that are clean and in good condition. Don't count on it. If there is a unique item you absolutely must have, maybe give it a whirl? But otherwise steer clear. I ordered a sideboard and got it in about a month (not great but ok). It was filthy (black and yellow residue, plus dust which is NBD). AND it smells like cigarette smoke. Still. Based on others' reviews I doubt I have any recourse except to keep cleaning and hope for the best.
Tip for consumers:
Buyer beware. There is no guarantee what you're getting or what condition it will be in.
Products used:
Furniture (Ethan Allen cherry sideboard)
Ordered 4 champagne flutes. They came wrapped separately in bubble wrap and in a giant shipping box (18x18x18) with literally a garbage bag's worth of foam peanuts. These peanuts are non-recyclable and totally toxic to the environment. Do better, Chairish!
I sold an item on their site thinking they were high end sellers, big mistake. The delivery vender made me waste my day waiting for him, 5 1/2 hours. He kept pushing back the pick up time and would only speak to me after calling and emailing Chairish. They did not respond to me until the following day but only by email to say they will send the same shipper. I have been asking to speak to a manager, after two weeks I received a voicemail. I call about 5 minutes later and was told the person was gone for the day. I don't trust them and told them they should just cancel the sale.
Found a nice piece. Decided to give it a try. Made an offer within $10 of the asking price, which is part of their process. That's when I saw the service fees. Seller came back with counter offer of the asking price. The next day the item was showing a price of over $100 more which seemed a bit cagey to me. I'll find something else I like. Forget it.
If you find an item that you like, then look for the seller elsewhere on the internet. Most sellers have websites, ebay shops, Facebook pages, or Etsy shops. You don't have to buy from the seller's Chairish shop. Chairish "customer support" is amateur, incompetent, and rude. Chairish controls the sale and shipping. The Chairish website promises that shipping is arranged in 1 business day, but it can take a week or more. Delivery can take up to 2 months. If there are problems, you have no idea how they will resolve it or how long it will take. Find the seller elsewhere on the internet. You'll probably save money on shipping. You'll certainly save time and aggravation.
Unfortunately I wholeheartedly agree with all of the customer service complaints. A different person answers your email every time, you have to follow up on your own or they just blatantly ignore you. You have to hope and pray you have an honest buyer/seller. They don't stand up for or behind you whether you are buying OR selling. As a seller, you don't need to handover 20% of your sale to them for such incompetence. As a buyer, BEWARE.
I wrote to cancel order and they never returned email. Now I am responsible for shipping that never should have occurred. I sent a cancelation the next business day. Now its three weeks and too late? Please. Do not buy form them. They are shady
I sold a large, big-ticket item without incident. I didn't have to do anything after the sale. They sent a company to pick it up and delivered it to my buyer without a problem. After the seller accepted it, I got my money. It's important to post accurate pics and divulge any issues upfront. Will be posting more decor items soon. Purchase also transacted without incident.
I bought a set of chairs and then returned them due to comfort. That part of the process was very smooth. I noticed today that the same set of chairs were on sale. Well, the retail price was much higher than they were originally listed for and they were marked down to a few dollars below the original asking price. It appears that there is a mark up to mark down scenario going on here.
As shopping is not one of my favorite activities, I was delighted to discover Chairish.
The site is easy to use and I love the different categories enabling me to go directly to the items I want. I was amazed by the variety of choices available. The augmented reality aspect enabled me to make a better decision regarding how the chair would fit in my home. Finding the piece on sale capped a perfect experience.
We used to have lots of problems getting payment in a timely fashion for items thathad been shipped and received by the buyer. Now, we received payment quickly within 7 days usually for an item. Also we have the ability to enter a payment code which our shippers can get from the buyer at the time of delivery which eliminates the headache of calling Chairish or the buyer to get them to verify that the item was received and they are happy with the transaction. So it is much better. Now I just want to be able to offer calculated shipping and we will be very happy.
I have been selling in chairish for two years now. I have roughly 200 items listed and sell something about once a week. I was told that when an item sells and I use their third party shipper Plycon that if it is damaged then I still get paid and Plycon takes care of the cost. Now I have two items in limbo (one for over 3 months). One that showed delivered then disappeared from my sold items list and now they have no clue where the item is and I have never been paid. The second item showed delivered and I was told it was delivered by customer service and today I wrote to ask for payment and now they say it was damaged in transit and I will need to file a claim.
Overall the layout for the app and the website is poor. The list my item page is not intuitive and slows down the listing process. They do edit your first image and they do sometimes audit my items, but they don't seem to know what's what. I listed a Reuge Music Box that sells new for $******* originally for $*******. They asked me why my price was so high and rejected it because they saw other Reuge music boxes for a few hundred.
Finally, the 20% they charge is very high for the level of service that we receive. We are going to go with 1stdibs.com
Customer Service is nonexistent. They have no problem taking your money as soon as you win your auction but then they fall off the face of the earth. They are supposed to send you a tracking number within 3 days of your purchase, it has been two weeks and I'm still waiting. Their Customer Number is just a recording and they don't answer their messages. This place is a trainwreck, don't be fooled... stay away.
While the item I received was beautiful... I paid almost as much for "white glove delivery" ($500) which included dumping the very heavy item in my garage. I had to pay an extra 100 to get someone else to the item upstairs for me later. Ugh. L
Lamp and shade arrived, packaged well no damage noticed, the harp for the lamp was not included shipment contacted seller and told her there was no harp. Her response was not sure what happened she did not know what size was needed try other harps I have an I can purchase one from Amazon. Nice customer service. Will think twice before buying again
Chairish is a total scam. I purchased two "antique" oak bedside tables from Chairish for $2,300 and $500 in shipping. The tables shipped did not ship from the listed location, Spain, rather, they shipped from Florida. The tables arrived damaged and customer service said they would pay for the repairs. Upon inspection, I noticed the tables I received were not the tables purchased. The refinisher who was supposed to fix the tables informed me that they were cheaply made replicas made from 100% pine. I have yet to hear back from customer service. I have shelled out almost $3,000 for tables not even worth $100. I am also an interior designer and shocked by this abhorrent company.
I have been waiting on a table for 6 weeks and no one can tell me where it is or when I might receive it. The seller told me it was picked up around 12/15 and they they tried to pick it up again on Jan 2. He informed them it had been picked up 2 weeks ago. Now chairish will not change pick-up date. I have made around 10 calls to chairish and plycon with no answer or return call except for their slick email that my order is on the move and they will contact me directly. DONT buy anything that will be shipped by plycon! I tried to cancel order and was told by chairish that I would have to pay DOUBLE shipping charges! Stay away.
I made a $5k couch purchase on Chairish and once it was finally delivered and I realized that it was literally covered in stains and the smell AWFUL, not at all as pictured or described. I have attempted reaching chairish customer service by phone and email multiple times daily since receiving (today is day 6) I've left countless voicemails and haven't gotten a single call or email back. This takes three cake for the absolute worst online purchase experience I've ever had in my life. So if you're looking at dropping serious cash, I would highly recommend staying away from this company and going with a company like therealreal or 1stdibs who's customer service is outstanding.

We apologize if anything was unclear. To protect our buyers and sellers we collect payment from the customer at checkout and issue payment to the seller after the customer has received their purchase in good order. This is to protect the reputation of our sellers and to protect our customers from fraudulent sellers who might create a fake listing, collect payment, and disappear. We do include this information on our site. Thank you. Team Chairish
