I booked a car for Melbourne for 10 days with this company for a holiday trip with my family (2 adults, 3 children 1-7yrs). On the day we landed after an hour flight delay, we called the number for pick up at 1030pm. To our horror the counter is already closed at 10pm. This was not mentioned anywhere when booking the car! We got no choice but get a cab to the hotel about 45min away (imagined if we had booked a hotel further away as we wanted to drive down to great ocean drive the next day!). I wrote them an email at 130am asking to pick up the car next day or if they could send the car to the hotel in the morning before going to sleep. In the morning about 9am i had called several rounds to confirm the pick up and got transferred here and there without able to get an answer. Finally i got patch to a person around noon and he told me the car was already released to someone else and there's no other cars available! What a terrible experience! I have never had such lousy car rental experience before travelling to US/Europe/UK/Asia before! And yes, they still charge you for the fees you paid earlier when booking! In the end I had to book for another car with Europcar with higher price (very few options left with no car to travel around!), which also had it's own problems (confirm with child seats during booking but when pick up, no child seats! Had to buy 2 child seats at Target in order to travel). Overall, my experience with car rental in Australia was bad, especially with economycarrentals which so called cheaper offer but at the end get to pay more and screwed up your vacation!
We booked a car for two weeks starting June 9th in Canada on Feb 3rd. We paid our deposit and it was clear on the rental aggreemnet that we had up to 48 hours prior to getting the car we had 100% money back. On April 4th it was clear we would not be able to go so we went online and cancelled it, fully expecting our money back. We never heard so we sent them an e mail and got a voucher back towards our next rental. We called and were told not politely at all that they were based in Europe and did not have to give our money back. Now on their web site they have changed their policy for no refunds. I called again and explained our paper work clearly showed a 100% refund, again, not politely at all was told they do not have to give our money back and they could change the policy as they were based in Europe and it was our tough luck. I will never book anything through them again. I will glady pay a higher price and book a car through an American or Canadian Company knowing I will have some recourse if the company decides to change policy without notifiying me of the change.
I totally understand the situation all businesses are going through and would have taken my voucher and hoped to be able to travel again if the agent was not so rude and talked so superior that they were in Europe and didn't have to comply with what terms we orgininally signed under.

I have never felt stronger about any company than this one. They absolutely should not be allowed to stay in business. Not just bad customer service, it was the rudest, useless, abusive and price gauging company I've ever experienced.
Rudeness from the beginning but what tipped the scale to horrific was us getting stuck on the other end of the island with a key fob that broke. When we called the call center (because apparently the rental office does not have phone) we received the rudest a****** you could imagine. He basically told my husband he was stupid and we were s*** out of luck and should get an uber back to the car rental location (50 minute drive) and get the spare key. When my husband told him he was being very rude the guy went on to call my husband an "ungrateful B****". So with no other choice but to spend over $100 in uber fees, we got to the car rental location to be charges $700 for the replacement key. Seriously what choice do you have when they have your credit card. It might seem like its worth taking a chance renting from this place since they're cheaper than others but trust me they'll find away to gauge you.
So we ubered back to the car with the replacement key fab, and I must say was not that surprised when we went to open the car with the and it didn't work! Seriously! Thes a holes give us a key fob with a dead battery! So once again we have to get an uber to a target to buy a new battery and uber again back to the car. Never again will I not research the company I am renting from. The reviews say it all, and I promise you no one is a Karen or exaggerating. This company is by far the worst ever. I beleive it must be the owner who answers the call center and just does not care one bit. Sounded like a very angry, drunk answering the calls. STAY AWAY!

I am extremely unsatisfied with the services of EconomyCarRentals.com and Maggiore. In a nutshell, I booked a car for 130 EUR on EconomyCarRentals.com with full insurance package and had to pay in the end 320 EUR to Maggiore even though car was in prestine condition upon return.
What happend the cashier of Maggiore upsold some unnecessary additional insurance upon car collection and assured me that it was they way they describe deposit which is to be returned in full amount. It sounded strange, but I assumed this is how they do things.
In the end it turned out that it was not deposit put upsell of unnecessary additional insurances I did not need. EconomyCarRentals.com said they were not able to do anything about it (even though I was their direct customer).
So, the main learnings are:
- avoid EconomyCarRentals.com - use more reputable car booking sites, which provide customer protection
- avoid Maggiore - they are just intentially misleading customers
- don't sign stuff which explicitly doesn't state deposit sum and that it will be returned provided no damages are detected to the car.

I wish I could give this company a ZERO or negative review. I booked with this company on the Kayak app which I always use and have had no trouble with other 3rd party companies like Priceline and Bookings.com This company however is the exception and please avoid them completely. I booked a rental vehicle from Philadelphia airport for 3 days to attend my nieces wedding. When I arrived at Dollar rental with whom I booked through economy rental on the kayak app, I was told that I could not get a vehicle unless I put down $500 I then said Okay I would do that and then they proceeded to do a credit check if which I never had to do before. They said I failed that and I was not given a vehicle in which I PREPAID! Yes I prepaid! When I called economy car rentals number they said NOTHING they could do and I would not be getting my money back. First of all this company is not based in the USA it is some foreign company and they stole my money and I was left abandoned at the Phil airport with NO vehicle I never received a refund and I shut all my accounts down incase they took more money out.
This company is a rip off scam if there are any issues with your rental you can just forget about it!
I am out $276.oo period end of story I willl NEVER use them again and when I am on the KAYAK app I am careful not to book with them!

This case was marked as no show that night and according to our cancellation policy, no refund is possible for the down payment.
