I worked for 2 weeks on identity verification and for all this time I was in touch with Chelsea, she is a very caring and nice specialist and helped me solve all the problems, thank you!
The chat experience was pleasant. As for the issue resolving time, all I can say is unbelievably fast. I had an issue with a refund on a payment which was solved in less than 5 minutes.
I had one project the client will not pay ne for, but I still get Charged 10%. Then another which was cancelled by the client 20% complete, you guessed it they charged be 10% on the whole project(not the bit I was paid for), so after completing 2 jobs I now have $3 which I cannot even withdraw because of a minimum
Avoid Freelancer, use Elance, Guru or Odesk - there I get paid...
Beware! This site is a scam!
They make you put money in escrow to use the site and hire programmers. Then once you have money in your account they freeze your account so you can't pay any of your programmers or transfer your money back out to your bank account.
Then they send you a message saying you need to "verify" your identity and that your money will be frozen until you do. I tried 10 times to do this. I uploaded my drivers license numerous times and other forms of governement id. But they kept saying they dont accept it for one reason or another and making up excuses.
So eventually they stole over $250 from my bank and I had to file a fraud alert with my bank to get the money back. And my programmers on Freelancer didnt get paid either. The only ones who got paid were the crooks at freelancer
I am filing a complaint with the BBB and hopefully my bank will decide in my favor.
WHAT A SCAM FREELANCER IS! BEWARE!
Hello Jon, this is Marcus from Freelancer.com and I’d like to take some time to address your concerns. I can understand that must make you feel upset. Please allow me to review what has happened to your account verification and chargeback so I can assist you in resolving the issues. Send me an email to marcusc@freelancer.com along with your username. I look forward hearing from you.
I would like to say it's a good and best process to verify authentic freelancers who actually work on this platform. I am really glad and thankful to the freelancer support team.
So I've had my account for a few months but I wasn't active until about a week ago. Once I was active it was a pain in my rear end. The first offer I got told me to email her and basically wanted me to work off the site (and what she proposed sounded a lot like some kind of money related scam) the second offer was someone who wanted me to sell stuff on ebay (he used what he called a 'disposable account' and deleted it right away)
Here's where it got sticky. I pressed the link in the email that said 'view and accept your project' thinking it would take me to a page that I could accept or reject but in reality kt automatically accepted the project. This left me with a dummy project and a $25 charge on my account. The customer service rep was nice enough, she seemed to misunderstand me a bunch but after some time I got her to withdraw the charge.
I immediately closed my account. It's basically a site full of scammers run by people who are not fluent in English. They make bank on the non-refundable charges and do not care if the account that offered was closed before the offer was accepted. (if my accepting had not been an accident she would have left the charge)
I would strongly advise against this site. You are safer going through gmail than a scam site that charges you even if you don't get paid.
I appreciate being assisted by Jewel today with customer service. She is knowledgeable and quick to come up with an immediate solution. She made my support request super easy today. Thanks Jewel!
Freelancer is so user friendly. I love the milestone feature, where a client has to pay a little commitment fee. I hope to get considered for a job one of these days
One of a most pathetic freelance site, I have ever experienced.
First time a client call dispute, i provided him all the evidence and they still not ask me anything and decided it in favor of that client and I lost my money.
Second time, client paid me some extra payment mistakenly and he told me about this. I don't have a way to pay back to him, so I ask him to co-ordinate with freelancer support. Freelancer staff never have an idea what to do, so they ask my client to call a dispute and created equal amount of milestone payments as start of this job. I opened dispute and saw that client wanted to pay me 0 euro from 240 euro. Client ask me to accept his offer and I accepted it. After that, I realized it they stole my 240 euro.
Basically, they usually hit freelancers to earn money. Also, whenever you accept a job on Freelancer they deduct project fee from your financial account instantly if client cancel that job you lost your money in that way either.
Stay away from these cheaters! Use Upwork instead, Upwork has a clean way to resolve disputes.
My experience with freelancer support was a memorable one such that will last ages. I had issue with my subscription and they process my refund speedily with professionalism. Thank you very much!
Answer: It is a PR platform that enables scammers to appear legitimate or verified. Freelancer doesn't care. They get a sizeable commission no matter if the posting is legitimate or not. Example: A fake ebook listing. Needs author to write 50000 words for US$ 2000. Unwitting freelancer bids and is 'awarded project' with message saying hurry up and accept. Once accepted, freelancer takes 'project fee' while you get tied up in their help callcenter trying to recoup not only the fee but potentially the fake employer gleaned from you using their platform. This site will be in the news soon. Trust me.
Answer: Hi Dejan. This happened to me in 2014, I lost a lot of money too, I withdrew the money on a Wednesday after the client had paid me $1000 in full. Then the next day, Thursday, I got a message that my withdrawal request was cancelled and the money reversed back to employer. My account was suspended and when I asked why, I was told that the employer looked like he was fraudulent and that the money might be fraud. Up to date, I am still bitter, angry and sad over that $1000 but I never got it back and Freelancer closed the person's account and that was that. So I hope this answers some of your questions and I am deeply sorry for your loss after such hard work. All the best
Answer: Freelancer.com focused on employer only, they just want as many employer and project as they can regardless of their country, verification status and deposits. However all the restriction is for employee. This is the reason Freelancer didn't stop them to post project without deposit. Almost 90% projects are fake (either posted by freelancer itself or fake/fraud employers). You have to be careful. Keep following things in mind will prevent you from fraud much. 1. Don't work for Employers from India/Bangladesh/Sri Lanka/Nigeria/Israel 2. Don't work for Employers whose name looks like Indian 3. Once the project is awarded to you, don't accept it unless the employer created initial milestone. Wait for at least 12 hours after milestone creation then accept it. 4. Ask for release step by step, don't work on next milestone unless previous is not released 5. Withdraw money from freelancer as fast as you can.
Answer: You can't say its fake but at the same time you can't just trust it fully. My point here is: people do get things done for the price but when it comes to money/payment, you can not trust freelancer. Sometimes it gets reversed from your account and you won't even get a satisfactory reason for it. I suffered a loss of 900 USD. All I get to hear that employer had some account issues and we can not disclose this any further. If you looking to work as a freelancer, go odesk or upwork and any other site first and then freelancer.com. Small incident: I worked for a client, designed the logo got the parent for it. Next day when looged in, my account showed negative balance ( payment reversed). Support: employer have acc. Issues Client: never came back or responded to any mails. Result: I worked and still in debt.
Answer: Dispute it with PayPal! Another beautiful example of why everyone hates Freelancer.
Answer: Freelancer is scam. I have very bad experience recently. "The payments you've received from your employer "-----------" were reversed due to their account issues. As a result, their account was closed" Lost over 800$. Freelancer also keep the fee for this job! Their support never answer. SCAM
Answer: Agree, do not use credit card details - freelancer is a terrible organisation when it comes to finances - they just debit your card at will, no warning, no opportunity to review the transaction, no notification of the charge - you just find out once you get your bank statement. Be very, very wary of this company - not saying their dodgy, BUT they are very devious when it comes to transactions. I think their motto is - "debit any time, just don't tell them and they wont complain"
Answer: Contact Paypal and file a dispute. I got a refund for the monthly amount that they should not have charged me for.
Answer: Good afternoon Rostyslav, unfortunately this has happened to most users of Freelancer including people who have been awarded projects. Ensure that you do not start any work or event accept a project until the following criteria have been met: 1. Project awarded 2. Initial milestone/deposit created 3. Client agrees to release the first payment immediately after you accepting the project. If they are unable to do this, tell then politely that you are unwilling to start on the project and keep looking for honest, legitimate clients. Be careful at all time on this website, even if you do vey thing by the book and the client still doesn't pay, the Freelancer support team will not help you. It is left to you to contact the client and chase the payment even of they delete their account.
Answer: Don't share you card. Use Paypal. First of all don't use freelancer they are scammers.
Hi, Neale. I can understand your frustration for not being paid when you have already completed the project. I see that our Support Team tried to contact your employer regarding this. Anyhow, I have sent you a ticket regarding your concern. Here's the ticket ID for reference: UKY-268-88580. Feel free to update it if you have queries. Take care!
