Had an issue with blocked funds, connected with support - problem solved! Thanks again!
Btw - guys please realize that they really do not have any control on non responsible employers. And even in simple shop - the customer always can return product after even days are passed - same logic is here.
All in all - great support! Thanks!
Wow - these reviews are eye openers. I just created an account with them - haven't given them any money - didn't know that appeared to be necessary, but I sure won't now. I really dislike them. Who ever heard of a freelancer site not providing a way to attach writing samples? Or even put them on your profile?
Why do they need to know my birthday? My phone number? Their profile compilation is limiting and short sighted.
I'm totally blowing them off. I HAD to do one star - it won't let me leave them blank
Hello Bitsy,
My name is Marcus and I'm one of the tier-2 representatives of Freelancer.com.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with our profile system. Be assured that this will be forwarded to our developers for further review.
For the meantime, I would suggest that you create an image file for your writing samples and upload it to your Freelancer.com account portfolio. You can also put a watermark on it to prevent other user stealing your work.
If you have an existing portfolio page, you can provide the link on your Profile Description. Note though that your personal website must not contain your contact details.
I would love to hear more about your thoughts on pain points you experienced and how we can improve our product to better support you and other users. Please email me at marcusc@freelancer.com. I hope to hear from you.
I have been working for them for past 1 year, and had encountered delay in the payment 8 times out of 14 times. The site provides absolutely no security. Please check the other reviews, believe it yourself, never link your credit card to their freelancer account or deposit any money. I will do my best to spread what kind of scam are they doing here and tell all the current client to stop working there. I am also going to post a video that I screen recorded about the freelancer support, I don't care if they close my account because of this review but please don't waste your time and energy by joining this stupid, fraud and BS website.
Hi, Akhil. I see that you're currently having issues with your account and I understand your frustration regarding this. Kindly continue to refer to the Verification Center for updates. Thank you for your cooperation.
Chelsea's outstanding communication skills made me feel at ease right from the beginning of our phone call. She addressed my questions with professionalism and expertise, making the conversation both productive and enjoyable.
Freelancer always does frauds and full of harassment.
- Takes Unnecessary charges.
- Posts Fake projects in order make your bids wasted. ( Their Earning Policy)
- His commission Deduction First, wether the project is moved onward or not (stopped by the client). They always thinks about money.
- Great deal, fraud in currency conversion. Always makes fraud.
- etc
Today I don't have enough time to write more. I think this is enough for today.
I will write later.
They are here from a decade... but only to for making money. Accept any project very carefully (new freelancers). Don't link your debit/credit card/bank accounts. Money will be deducted without any confirmation.
On both occasions when I sought clarification about how the Freelancer website works, I received prompt replies that have made this process of learning the ropes a lot easier. In addition to full explanations addressing my specific questions, Freelancer customer service agents provided links that further elaborated on key related topics, and that extra wealth of information is very much appreciated.
Barry has been very helpful with my queries and guiding me through the verification process on freelancer. Being verified by freelancer I am looking forward to gain the customer confidence in future gigs.
The issues were resolved during the chat time itself. Thank you so much!
Hope there will be no auto renewal in future.
I was about to block my card. But when I reached freelancer support, all the hands for help was provided by Mr. Nicholl O
Kelly V. responded right away with the feedback, recommendations, and the progress that's been made with problem potential employers not playing by the rules.
Even without telephone support-a coming tool-she recognized the information that would be of the greatest benefit to me. This is what can happen when a CSR really listens to a customer/client in comprehensive manner.
Chelsea was in charge of my verification interview and she made it go smoothly and without any issues. If I knew that such professional and kind people worked on those interviews I would have verified myself ages ago.
This website uses fake contractors to do "work" for individuals such as myself. When the work isn't completed they then try to hold your Paypal deposit ransom for you to pay them an additional "resolution fee" I put in a ticket and got this response.
"We regret to hear about the undesirable experience you had with this concern. However, that's really how the process works. An Arbitration fee is necessary for the dispute to progress.
The dispute will stay on it's present stage, if you don't want to pay the Arbitration fee for $ 5 USD.
Your understanding very much appreciated.
Let us know if you have other concerns."
Charlotte B. Helped me immensely and professionally in the most efficient way possible. He was very confident and answered all my questions. I think he should be promoted to a higher rank in his office. Love from Bangladesh.
Eric was very helpful and exerted effort to still contact me. He was able to help me as well on my other concern. This is the kind of customer service that every company must have. Hope all customer representatives are like him. Kudos Freelancer!
The operator personnel assessed my inquiry and provided me with enough information to solve my issue. It was a good experience, though there was some delay in the chat procedure that may have been due to questions from other parties. Probably allotting more of such well qualified support personnel will solve this drawback.
Freelancer.com is a trustworthy earning platform. I am working here for last 6 years and didn't face any scam or inconvenience, neither with Staff nor with any employer/freelancer here. Payments are secured. They provide several opportunities to get yourself established on the site. I highly recommend this site as your full time earning source.
Dear colleagues,
Never ever start having a deal with this establishment.
The mechanism they steal your money is quite simple:
1) you place your bid
2) you are awarded
3) in a couple of minutes your project is marked as "Incomplete" and you are to pay 10% of its cost (which you have never received).
You have neither rights nor place to appeal.
I am sorry for those people who had money on their accounts when these "incompleteness" happened. All their savings were simply stolen.
I was lucky enough to have 50 cents at the moment. Thus, I congratulated the fraudsters with the huge loot;)
Nevertheless, the time I had spent to build my profile was gone for nothing.
As Oprah said " don't pay to work " At first I loved freelancer the whole month was so creatively inspiring but until Freelancer takes unauthorized e-check payments for no reason! OMG is right I am currently conducting investigation and so far were winning! Please take my advice to heart don't trust Freelancer.com!
Freelancer has the biggest concentration of useless lying unprofessional developers in the entire world. All they care about is taking the money and running. Really bad, don't even consider using them.
Hi, Rita. We understand that you had some unpleasant experience with other users on the site and this could really be frustrating. We would like to assure you that our Support Desk is available, via chat or email 24/7, to assist you if you have any concerns with your projects or account. Do not hesitate to contact us and we'll be more than happy to assist you.
Submitted many bids, every time freelancer is asking for $ to move your bid higher up. Now I finally got the first "Job", an impossible job to complete: Transcript of a miserable audio tape with an interpreter talking over it. After I tried I turned the job down, but my paypal account was already charged from freelancer w/o any notice or mail for what the charge is. I guess it's a rip off site, typical crook business. Lots of promises and lots of crap on this site.
Hi, Manu. I'm sorry to learn that you feel that way. I see that you have not sent us an email about this, though. Please allow me to assist you. Feel free to send me an email at larao@freelancer.com and I will be more than happy to check this further for you. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Answer: It is a PR platform that enables scammers to appear legitimate or verified. Freelancer doesn't care. They get a sizeable commission no matter if the posting is legitimate or not. Example: A fake ebook listing. Needs author to write 50000 words for US$ 2000. Unwitting freelancer bids and is 'awarded project' with message saying hurry up and accept. Once accepted, freelancer takes 'project fee' while you get tied up in their help callcenter trying to recoup not only the fee but potentially the fake employer gleaned from you using their platform. This site will be in the news soon. Trust me.
Answer: Hi Dejan. This happened to me in 2014, I lost a lot of money too, I withdrew the money on a Wednesday after the client had paid me $1000 in full. Then the next day, Thursday, I got a message that my withdrawal request was cancelled and the money reversed back to employer. My account was suspended and when I asked why, I was told that the employer looked like he was fraudulent and that the money might be fraud. Up to date, I am still bitter, angry and sad over that $1000 but I never got it back and Freelancer closed the person's account and that was that. So I hope this answers some of your questions and I am deeply sorry for your loss after such hard work. All the best
Answer: Freelancer.com focused on employer only, they just want as many employer and project as they can regardless of their country, verification status and deposits. However all the restriction is for employee. This is the reason Freelancer didn't stop them to post project without deposit. Almost 90% projects are fake (either posted by freelancer itself or fake/fraud employers). You have to be careful. Keep following things in mind will prevent you from fraud much. 1. Don't work for Employers from India/Bangladesh/Sri Lanka/Nigeria/Israel 2. Don't work for Employers whose name looks like Indian 3. Once the project is awarded to you, don't accept it unless the employer created initial milestone. Wait for at least 12 hours after milestone creation then accept it. 4. Ask for release step by step, don't work on next milestone unless previous is not released 5. Withdraw money from freelancer as fast as you can.
Answer: You can't say its fake but at the same time you can't just trust it fully. My point here is: people do get things done for the price but when it comes to money/payment, you can not trust freelancer. Sometimes it gets reversed from your account and you won't even get a satisfactory reason for it. I suffered a loss of 900 USD. All I get to hear that employer had some account issues and we can not disclose this any further. If you looking to work as a freelancer, go odesk or upwork and any other site first and then freelancer.com. Small incident: I worked for a client, designed the logo got the parent for it. Next day when looged in, my account showed negative balance ( payment reversed). Support: employer have acc. Issues Client: never came back or responded to any mails. Result: I worked and still in debt.
Answer: Dispute it with PayPal! Another beautiful example of why everyone hates Freelancer.
Answer: Freelancer is scam. I have very bad experience recently. "The payments you've received from your employer "-----------" were reversed due to their account issues. As a result, their account was closed" Lost over 800$. Freelancer also keep the fee for this job! Their support never answer. SCAM
Answer: Agree, do not use credit card details - freelancer is a terrible organisation when it comes to finances - they just debit your card at will, no warning, no opportunity to review the transaction, no notification of the charge - you just find out once you get your bank statement. Be very, very wary of this company - not saying their dodgy, BUT they are very devious when it comes to transactions. I think their motto is - "debit any time, just don't tell them and they wont complain"
Answer: Contact Paypal and file a dispute. I got a refund for the monthly amount that they should not have charged me for.
Answer: Good afternoon Rostyslav, unfortunately this has happened to most users of Freelancer including people who have been awarded projects. Ensure that you do not start any work or event accept a project until the following criteria have been met: 1. Project awarded 2. Initial milestone/deposit created 3. Client agrees to release the first payment immediately after you accepting the project. If they are unable to do this, tell then politely that you are unwilling to start on the project and keep looking for honest, legitimate clients. Be careful at all time on this website, even if you do vey thing by the book and the client still doesn't pay, the Freelancer support team will not help you. It is left to you to contact the client and chase the payment even of they delete their account.
Answer: Don't share you card. Use Paypal. First of all don't use freelancer they are scammers.
