You don't want to know how bad it was! Way too complicated. I spent 2-3 hours a day for three days and still haven't been able to get into to my tax patrons.
I used ID.me to apply for EDD unemployment benefits. It was my first time using it. I wish this tool had been around when I first applied for unemployment benefits during the Covid 2020 pandemic. I remember how difficult it was to apply the first time. When I uploaded the documents, the website kept crashing. With ID.me, it was extemely fast and easy to upload the proofs I needed directly from my phone. I would advise to read the instructions thoroughly and prepare the documents in advance, that way is easier to go step by step (literally less than 5 minutes).
Complete with struggle, this was new to me, and I had trouble reading everything because of my eyes Prompt assistance would make things easier. It was definitely easier than a strange accent
Very easy steps to create your account. Enter your personal info along with a couple documents and you're done. Now you have great access to many benefits cutting out the middle man
It was never stated that there was another way to log on to, in my case, ssa.gov
If I had known, I could use something other than ID.me I would have.

The experience of creating an ID.me account was very easy and I can imagine how a verified ID can make dealing with government sites especially much easier.
It says error code 6000 and when I called customer service they ask for bank account info. Also Googled error code seems to be common problem but with no real way to fix it.this site is a joke.

As a veteran with over 30 years of service, I am deeply disappointed and frustrated with the ID.me verification process. The system's inability to accept VOIP or prepaid phone numbers, which are my only means of communication, created a significant and unnecessary obstacle. This forced me to travel to a service center to complete the verification, causing considerable inconvenience. The fact that a system designed to verify the identity of those who have served our country fails to accommodate widely used communication methods is unacceptable. This experience has been incredibly frustrating and nearly led me to opt out of online services altogether. I was even prepared to contact my Congressman for assistance. ID.me needs to address these issues and improve their verification process to ensure that veterans and others who rely on VOIP or prepaid phones are not unfairly burdened. This experience has severely undermined my trust in ID.me and I would strongly advise others to be prepared for potential difficulties during the verification process."
Either find a password manager you like, understand and trust, and abuse it tell know end with one master password. Or hand write all your unique passwords down on paper:
It 2 days, 3 people, and over 8 hours to get the photos right. They don't tell you if your pics are acceptable or not. Plus no way to update address for if you moved, etc.
Took all day to verify my identity with the IRS and Chime. It's really ridiculous lots of codes like crazy my inbox is nothing but verification codes from today..
Awful, all the way around. Bunch of unenthusiastic employees that don't want to do any more than the bare minimum. Wishing i could leave -5 stars, but I can't.
I think this video call is a great way to weed out fraudsters who steal tax dollars from our federal programs. It should be applied to federal voting too.
Overall, I'm satisfied with my experience, but I did encounter a small issue when trying to submit my identification and photo for recognition - hoping to get that resolved smoothly!
The whole process felt very secure, but also easy to complete, I had a new account created in 30 minutes. The video call agent was very friendly and helpful.
