I made an appointment which was fast. I had troubleshooting issues with my phone. The representative called me and met me over zoom. There she asked for my information. Which I gave her then like that I was in touch with the IRS fully certified. The experience was great.
The process was very easy. Got Email, saying my picture ID was accepted and gave me how many minutes I would have to wait for an agent to verify me, which is very nice and it was quite accurate
I have many difficulties in my health. I take a lot of meds so I don't think like I used to. I'm just struggling. So that's the problem.

I wanted to access my Social Security info online. It offered 3 ways, including ID.Me. I had an old ID.Me id for the IRS when I manages a non-profit so I used that. The experience was dreadful. I had 12-15 email messages from ID.me, numerous text messages, and me entering numerous 6-digit codes. The closest I got to verifying myself to ID.Me was via a "Trusted Representative". I was able to see and hear him (Anthony G) using both my computer and my cell phone. Anthony could hear me but could not see me. After nearly 2 hours of frustration, I thanked Anthony and gave up.
I have trouble to login to my IRS account for my phone can not get code. The ID verify by ID.me code generater is an excellent way to login to my government's account. The most conventional is I can get verify by camera call to get MFA ID verify,that is so covenant.
I wish there were live people to talk to to help you go through the process. I'm on leave of absence for medical issues from work and need to CIF I can get paid. It isn't easy to do that.
This site it is not too friendly.Imagine a 70+ tear old person trying to log in. I created an account a while back, and now is asking me to create a new county again.
I am reasonably good with a computer, going back to the DOS days prior to Windows. I found the process extremely onerous, time consuming, and completely frustrating (as an understatement).
Parts of the process was less than intuitive, and too much a learning experience!
I finally got thru it, but would not recommend it to anyone.
Super easy and super fast. My drivers license upload front and back where excepted first try the selfie was as well. If it's an option in the future for other identification purposes I without question will be choosing ID.me.
A few glitches, e.g., needed to get passport available, needed photo of driver's license, needed to upload these and not really sure how I did this. Otherwise, all went pretty smoothly.
I had 1 W-2 and filed early. I'm single with no dependents or a house. I e-filed a few days before the IRS start accepting (January 21st) and set it for direct deposit. My taxes were accepted immediately but have been stuck in processing for weeks now. I received a letter stating I was flagged for potential identity theft and had to verify my identity. I did so online the day I received the letter in the mail. After completion I was informed it could now take an additional 9 weeks before I receive my tax return. In the meantime I've tried to contact the irs and speak to a live agent dozens of times only to be hung up on by a ridiculous automated robot. I just want clarity that my identity has been verified and when to expect my return.

Poor instructions provided. The site is not user friendly and of course you reach a real human being to speak to. Somehow we're supposed to feel confident the our personal information is safe and secure.
I needed to get to notifications from the Veterans Administration and Social security Administration for benefit adjustments 2025, I.D. me made it efficient and secure to give me the access I needed, I also believe I.D.me is a great tool against fraud protection and prevention, Thank you.
I see no reason why this site needs facial biometrics - they don't use it for anything. Just scraping data so the Chinese can steal it I suppose... Also, could not tell exactly who runs ID.me, so no way to assess if it's secure.
Also, dump the stupid captcha at the end that wants 5 things identified
Entire system seemed unsafe and unsecure. And then after ALL the steps (which were EXTREMELY numerous!) the entire thing failed! I would NEVER recommend anyone to try to use this as I think it is VERY insecure and subject to hacking by both the government and outside agents. I'm SO SORRY I tried to do this and wish they would wipe ALL my data out of their system including backups and cloud savings.
I thought at first that it was going to be to complicated to follow along especially when you see the spinning circle. I went through the first step the circle went around once and boom next task. It says it can take up to 10 minutes but I think it's a typo cause it's more like 10 sec. The whole thing took about 5 minutes to complete. I was at home on my home internet as well.
Signing up and creating my ID.me account was easy and took only a few minutes. The steps you take to complete it pretty much ensures your account is and will be safe and secure.
I had a hard time getting this app because I live in a foreign country. Now that I have it, I connect easily and without the long waits of verification from the government red tape.

It began when ID.me’s CEO and founder Blake Hall, a decorated Army Ranger, watched a military veteran display their DD214 separation paperwork to a store employee to claim a military discount. The document held far more information than was needed to verify military service. Exposing so much personal information for a single benefit was risky and unnecessary. There had to be a better way.
