Someone made a fake account for my wife. They were able to link it to the IRS. Now we have been unable to get her to log into the IRS and customer service has been of no help.
I used ID.me originally when I applied with SSI but did not have the option of a video selfie then. I did have to upload my picture I.D. if I remember correctly and managed to get it done relatively easily. When I used it the second time to sign up for a college woodworking class it was just a simple matter of logging in with my user name & password & then creating my video selfie which was required by the college & it was very easy and quick. I was surprised with the process because I usually have bad experiences with things like that.
At first I thought this was going to be a hassle to verify my identity but turned out it was actually pretty easy with a cellphone camera and a valid id.
It was easy enough though I've had problems in the past when I was struggling and didn't have id or anything if I got a question wrong id be logged out for some time
When the clerk asked me to use ID-me
"ID.me its Quick and easy" I was skeptical thinking it was gonna be another 20-30 minutes and filling out questions or paperwork it's never worth the time. But I did it I only took a few minutes and proof to my surprise it was done and verified.
Had to call three different departments nobody ever called me back had to figure it out myself and when I finally did, everybody started calling me back telling me to call this person that person then the people finally started calling me back and telling me that it was on my end it wasn't their fault Worst thing ever invented, and it keeps you from being able to file unemployment or trying to look into Social Security, because if you can't open the ID, then you can't file your unemployment or look into your Social Security. I would never recommend anybody happen to use this if you didn't have to!
I had a difficult time with uploading a picture of my license. It was easier to use the video identification. The person who popped up on the video was extremely friendly and efficient. It took less than a couple of minutes. I worked for days trying to get a decent photo. I strongly suggest you use the video recognition.
Simple and easy right to the point as expected and would strongly recommend this to a friend or family member so they can experience the same experiences I have and be just to satisfy
Several steps to complete but the instructions were easy to follow. I had success on completing the steps first try. Make sure to have ID Available and ready to take a picture of yourself.

I have spent 3 days trying to set up my disability account with no success my suggestion is to go in person to social security and do this in person if you can get appointment i have tried calling for 3 days to set this up and so far cant do it

Easy to navigate into the application if you wanna copy Social Security you can do it here you can submit we no problems if you wanna copy date of birth you can do it here too you can submit it here too they come back with the IRS and you can get your W-2 forms copy and every information is submitted with no problem
Uploading photos was not easy, considering the network errors. I think I had to redo it about five times then I just had to leave it alone for a few hours so I could gather my thoughts.
I tried to access my Social Security account using ID.me. After successfully entering my user/pswd and entering the phone verification number - ID.me then sent me back to Social Security Login - an endless loop with no access to my Social Security account. Tried using both Firefox and Chrome browsers. Same result. ID.me Does Not Work
Make sure you run this on the main laptop monitor instead of an addon for the verification process, I was using a large add-on monitor and had to move the window to my main laptop monitor to make it easier to look at the camera and read the instructions
I was a bit skeptical of this app at first, especially when it asked me to take pics of my driver's license and a video selfie... But I read all the details about why they do this and I didn't feel skeptical anymore. They do have 3 or 4 very personal procedures to create your account, but if you do your research before hand you will understand why. All the little security check points is about keeping you and your info safe, secure, and protected. I would recommend ID.me to anyone, I give them 5+ stars. ID.me has your back!
Set up and navigation were very easy. It was self explanatory and took only a few minutes to complete. Moved through the complete process very quickly.
This site made it simple for the user to access their most secure information at a couple clicks of a button, all you have to do is provide all documentation for verification (which took less than 5 minutes to get done, if you read the instructions and prepare your information beforehand) it's a swift process, took an selfie, waited a day or so i believe to be verified, and now I don't have to worry about all these answers to the security questions I forget alot, just a fast 2 step verification code to enter, and just like that I'm in

It began when ID.me’s CEO and founder Blake Hall, a decorated Army Ranger, watched a military veteran display their DD214 separation paperwork to a store employee to claim a military discount. The document held far more information than was needed to verify military service. Exposing so much personal information for a single benefit was risky and unnecessary. There had to be a better way.
