“Every item I've bought is top quality”

reece b.
1/29/20

Purchased, washing machines, televisions, kitchen appliances, small household items, every time it works great, the couriers are usually independent and sometimes they use toll, It is worth getting freight protection/extended care for certain items because even with the add on, it is still far cheaper then competitors.

“Give me a refund”

Kogan, Kogan, what a plight, A trick you played, late one night. I sought a game, a gift to share, Yet found deceit laid lurking there. I never shop within your walls, For often your service falls. This time I thought, just one quick buy, Yet you charged me on the sly. A membership I didn't seek, One twenty-nine, it left me weak. Your tactics low, your cunning deep, In fine print hidden, shadows creep. Careful am I, with eyes so sharp, Yet still, you struck with your dark art. A gift of joy, now tinged with spite, As Kogan's scheme comes into light. Why this trick, this lowly game, To charge a fee, bring buyer's shame? Undo this wrong, make it right, Restore the trust, lost in the night.

Bought a toy and it says there is 14 days free trial for first kogan membership which offer free shipping. I went ahead and order it and the total payment showed the cost of the toy with free payment. I went ahead and pay for it with my credit card. I received an email for my order and was charged with with additional amount of $99 and it was for the first kogan membership. Within one hour of my order I emailed them to say that the only reason I ordered the toy was because of the free delivery. And if there was no free delivery please cancel my toy and also the $99 membership that I didn't sign on. The next morning they acknowledge my complaint with a reference number. Then someone emailed emailed me that the 14day free trial was over and it shouldn't have been there and it was all a confusion. And still they refused to refund me the membership until I threatened to report them. I thought that everything was settled until I received another email to say that they are only refunding part of the membership and I had to pay postage for the toy. Told them that in my early email I specified that if they cannot give me free postage my order is to be cancel. They then come back and say that it cannot be done as the toy as been delivered and left at a safe place. Have told them to go and get back from where they left it as I am not touching it. They have now refuse to answer my email and there is no other way to contact them. Calling themselves a Australian owned company based in Melbourne and ripping off fellow Australians is just not right. Keep away from them no matter how cheap they may be. Go and look at their reviews on Choice. They came in top with the most complaints as yet the owner has the cheek to say that compare with their sales it is ok. My advice is KEEP OFF KOGAN THEY ARE CHEATS.

I have never dealt with a worse business. I purchased a Kogan television just under 2 months ago. There were a number of issues with the delivery and, after several complaints, I received it after 2 weeks.

As soon as I plugged it, I realised I had purchased a lemon. The screen resolution was absolutely terrible (nowhere near the described specs) and the sound was straight out of a can. Most importantly, there were some white areas around the screen. I contacted Kogan to inform them of the problem and, over the next few weeks, they asked me to do a number of things to address the problem. Of course, nothing helped. I supplied pictures and videos to prove my point.

Since I requested a refund, they are ignoring my emails. For over a week. Note than they conveniently don't have a phone line.

I have now raised the issue with the ACCC and Consumer Affairs and they have asked me to do a few things, including organising a chargeback.

I am confident I will win my case in the end but it will take some time and I will unlikely have a working TV for Christmas.

It is the second consecutive bad experience I have with Kogan products and will NEVER purchase from them again.

There is absolutely no reason why anyone should deal with them. This is a shonky business with bad products and terrible customer service.

Don't believe me? Google "Kogan ACCC".

The reviews on their website are all positive (which lured me) but it is very obvious they write them themselves. Blatant lies.

I suspect the positive reviews on this page are written by Kogan employees.

If you are looking for cheap electronics with decent quality, start with Aldi. Their product quality is much, much better and, more importantly, their aftersale return policy is second to none.

Don't deal with Kogan. You WILL regret it.

Received an message from Jarryd at Kogan 19/12/2020 saying tracking number below goods dispatched.
I tried for 2 days to track the delivery, castaway couriers site said check back in 2 hrs time... I tried this over 2 days no luck.
I then messaged Jarryd he informed me on 21/12/2020, that I had the incorrect tracking number and that the goods weren't despatched...
I sent a very annoyed and angry message back requesting management get involved.
I then got an message saying my goods were dispatched on the 18 th December... I messaged back indicating they again were lying and sent a copy of Jarryds message NO REPLY...
I then got a message from Will saying I could cancel the order or wait until it was delivered and return it to Kogan... WTF.?...
If I wanted to cancel order I would have 2 months ago...
Wait till goods are delivered and return it...!?.
Really this is management at customer care so what hope have I got...
THEY MISSED THE POINT THEY SHOULD BE GIVING ME A CREDIT FOR THE INCONVENIENCE,
BUT NO ITS ALL ABOUT KOGANN AND NOT THE CUSTOMER,! Fact...

APPALLING APPALLING APPALLING! Read before buying from this company:

Order placed 25th Nov
Delivery Address updated day after

A week passes no contact

Log in to see incorrect address still listed
Item not picked by warehouse
Address change option no longer available
Contact customer support
Customer supprt advise to change address online
I advise them not possible
Customer service say they will
Update manually

A week passes and item is dispatched to the wrong address (I can still pick it up, it's just a pain in the $#*!)

I contact customer support
Am told I "should have updated the address before dispatch"
I die inside
I advise that I did
Customer support advises they will escalate and contact the freight company to amend the address

This does not happen
A week passes

I receive an email out of the blue from a brand new customer support agent apologising for the warehouse not being to cancel my order (wtf?)
Same customer support agent advises that they will CANCEL/RETURN and REFUND the order.

I did not request this. They did
This of their own volition.

I did NOT REQUEST this. I do not want my order canceled/returned and refunded.

The service has been incredibly poor - the whole ordeal has been exceptionally appalling

I have no idea the state of my order or what is going on

I have contacted customer support about this most recent addition to the saga.

Kogan's customer support is the worst I have ever encountered and I'm a telstra customer.

All I wanted was to update the deliver address on my order.
Advise you go elsewhere for you purchase

So this mob Kogan are renowned for selling cheap electrical goods but what I also wish I'd known Before wasting my money with them is they're also renowned for poor quality products and appalling after sales service, enough that the ACCC, consumer affairs orgs and Choice have all given them poor ratings. Do a search online and you will see. Hopefully BEFORE you buy to avoid my mistake!
I have bought a television and a laptop from them and while the television technically still works I've never been happy with the sound quality (no Kogan, you shouldn't need anything more than what comes out of the box to hear what people are saying on the telly! You shouldn't have to purchase further audio gear to make a TV functional! Do you use mobile phone parts in your televisions or something?!)
Now I was not so lucky with a laptop I'd had for less than 12 months when it's keyboard failed. I've spent weeks trying to have the product retuned for a refund (which a consumer is entitled to under the Australian consumer law when goods are not fit for purpose) and they just keep giving me the run around, "take photos", "send us a video of the problem", "it appears to be faulty", "no we won't offer you a refund we need to do an assessment" (whatever that means but given their track record I can only assume that means further back and forth this time in the mail!) and I predict a "we can't find a fault" outcome anyway, they've proven to me that's their style.
DO NOT BUY KOGAN BRANDED PRODUCTS. I cannot stress this enough. They do not offer value for money, even at their prices.
Not only are they flimsy, plastic cased, and poorly manufactured, you have next to no chance of getting a refund when your product fails in an unreasonable timeframe.
Buy from other places online or retailers who show moral backbones, please do not support this quickly growing empire that has profited ($50M last year alone! Look at their annual report!) off suckers like me.

Tip for consumers:
Don’t buy from them!!!!
There are plenty of other ethical online retailers out there who won’t treat you like a chump

I am infuriated that I was signed up to Kogan First without my understanding nor knowledge, then charged $59 without my authorisation.

Customer service has indicated that I must have selected a button during a purchase, but I have no knowledge of doing so.

I have also reviewed the invoice that they sent out with that purchase, and it DOES NOT SAY that I have been charged, nor will be charged money for Kogan First. The invoice does not say that I have selected a box for Kogan First money to be deducted from my account. Nor does is say anywhere on that invoice that I will be charged at a future date. This appears to contravene our consumer law in Australia.

If I have purchased something, my understanding of consumer law according to conversations with my lawyers, is that I should have been notified in an invoice that I have spent $59 on the product "Kogan First".

Kogan have not notified me of this in my initial invoice that I have signed up to Kogan First, and that $59 has, or will be, deducted from my account.

This is an outrageous practice that appears to be deceptive selling of a product that is not associated with the initial purchase.

The manner in which they get you to purchase this Kogan First product can easily result from the way they have set up their web page, and App. So it would seem to be a deliberate act to sign people up to a product that they may not want, and then continue to deduct money from your account forever.

I cannot even cancel my Kogan First Membership through the app, I cannot delete my credit card or PayPal account from their system. They are locked. This leads me to question the integrity of this company.

I have purchased quite a few items from Kogan over the years, but this has left me feeling completely scammed. They have lost me as a customer.

I will be referring this to the ACCC and Fair Trading tomorrow for reveiw of this practice, as it comes across as misleading and deceptive selling.

I can only hope that Kogan are forced to review their behaviour and are pulled into line so that more of their customers aren't ripped off as I feel that I have been.

Tip for consumers:
Be very careful using Kogan's website. Check their invoice and you purchase order with a fine tooth comb. I have used Kogan a lot, but feel like I have been scammed. It's not a nice feeling, so be very careful.

I bought a samsung S9 phone from kogan.
Arrived smoothly at the end of feb, no issue.
However when i went to turn it on and start loading all my things onto the new phone, I noticed the screen would black out, flicker wouldnt work correctly.
So I immediately notified Kogan that I need to send this back and have it repaired, or have a replacement sent.
Of course nothing goes smooth once theres a problem like that.

Kogans response was all about, "has it been dropped? Has it been wet? Did you try resetting?"
Mate, the phone hasnt even left my house yet, let alone being dropped. Yes i did a factory reset, but didnt solve issues, as its more a "display" issue.

They suggested taking it to a samsung store, because that would be the "quicker solution".
So I did, they sent it to the samsung factory, had it analysed and said it was a manufacturer problem on Kogan (or whoever kogan uses).

So i sent the phone back to kogan, with all descriptions, report from samsung.
By now, i had been emailing back and forth to kogan 30+ emails with photos, videos etc.

Parcel tracking showed the faulty phone had reached kogan on the 19th march.

No response for ages.
Has it been fixed?
Are they sending replacement?
Can i get a refund?
Are you actually doing anything?

Response was always, we will get back to you once we check and get more info.

I was fed up with sending all these emails back and forth and said, please just give me a refund, and thats it.

Then they finally say, oh, please let us know what address you would like the replacement phone sent to.

As if you dont have my address by now!

So i gave them my address again.

No response for ages again.

Umm are you sending a phone anytime soon?

Latest response from Kogan on 13th April was, "do you have the tracking number for the returned faulty phone?"

Why on earth do you need the tracking number now? And yes, I do have it, and yes, I have emailed that info multiple times already!

So where do I stand now since end of Feb?
No phone, no refund, just - $600 less in my bank account now because of Kogan.

I was stupid enough to buy a small smart $400 LED TV for my bedroom from Kogan. All in the interests of 'saving' a few hundred dollars. TV arrives, husband puts the wall bracket up and then the TV. We turn it on and all it works - however there is awful background high pitched buzzing... like there is a large mossie in the room. Given we have a small house and we watch TV at night in bed after the kids have gone to sleep - we watch the TV at a low volume - so all we could hear is the buzzing. We muted it, and the buzzing continued. We took it down the very next day and put it back into the same box and started to initiate a refund process... which by the way is a terrible process (you cannot call anyone and they try to make you keep the product). They asked for a video... well we've already packed it up and we aren't getting it out again! I went to JB two days later and found a TV at the same size for a few hundred dollars more. We put that up on the bracket (so yes the bracket from Kogan was fine).

Weeks later - we are still trying to get the TV collected so we can get our refund. It all started with asking for the videos, offering to fix the defect (too late we have anew TV! And don't trust the quality of Kogan anymore). Today was the day the 'repair/return' company was meant to collect it. We just called to get their ETA and low and behold... our paper work is there, but it's not booked into the system - so next Thursday it is! (We are in Canberra and I think they are from Sydney). Apparently the point of this pick up is for the repair person to determine if we have damaged the TV or if we've created a lie about the defect!

The funny thing is when we took delivery of the TV, the delivery person (not affiliated with Kogan) joked that he would see us again soon as 'lots of those TVs get returned'. Save yourself the headache... spend a bit more on your TV with a local shop (JB Hi Fi in our instance) and get a quality product or one that can be EASILY returned for a refund if a fault is found.

I would never recommend their TVs or their service - which is non existent and all email based. I am thinking of making an official complaint to consumer affairs over this as they intentionally make the return process arduous in the hope you will just go way. If there was no high pitched whistle with the TV I wouldn't have had a problem with it. But I simply cannot live with a sound like that while trying to enjoy a TV show. Ok, rant over. Lesson learnt! And on I go in the pursuit of returning this damn TV for a refund!

About 12 months ago I purchased an Acer KG251Q 24" monitor that was advertised as 240hz... Ordered it and once it got it, quickly become apparent that it was in fact a 75hz monitor despite it being labeled on their site as 240hz... Took screenshots and notified customer service about the issue, where they VERY quickly updated their website and mistake and told me I could have a refund if I pay shipping costs instead of HONORING their mistake... I just lived with it, didn't bother, and decided to not use this company again.

So a few weeks go by and I find an Ergolux "racing massage chair" on sale at a pretty cheap price, very competitive with other outlets for the same product... I purchased it, took weeks to ship, and I noticed they shipped it under my google account name, which like a lot of people is a nickname, not my real name... I contacted Kogan and told them of this issue and they ASSURED me it would ship under my real name... Nope it did not, and caused quite a fuss at the post office when it come to identifications! Once I finally had it, I started putting it together to notice the crappy build quality, and lack of instructions... After I figured it all out... plugged it in ready to enjoy a "heat therapy massage" only to find that it is nothing more than a giant vibrator with a broken heat element. Okay so at least I have a chair that looks kinda nice, a definite upgrade over my old deteriorating office chair, right? WRONG, the "recline feature" only allows the chair to recline forward, not backward, kinda like an 90yo driving a 1999 Toyota corolla hanging over the dashboard, and the "recline position" would be in fact the normal comfortable position for me.
Much longer story cut short, don't use Kogan, they are rubbish and customer service is a pack of morons. Please buy elsewhere. This will be the 3rd complaint I have lodged against these con artists.
