I read several reviews, most all were negative. I found one that was positive, so I tried paying for my movie tickets with the movietickets.com gift card. The website said my card number was invalid. There goes $50 down the drain!
So I purchased 4 of these gift cards from Sams club. It's a scam. Do not purchase! I went on the site, followed directions and it gives me an error message "This card is no longer valid" on all four cards. I've reached out to Sams and they won't help me because it's a 3rd party vendor, I wish I would have read these reviews prior to my purchase, If Sam's club can't honor my refund, then why are they even selling them!
Oddly enough, the website printed on the back of the gift cards gives a "404" error, but when I simply typed "movietickets.com" it worked like a charm. We selected our theatre, selected our tickets, and printed out the confirmation number. No problem at all. Yes, there are some added fees, but the total didn't seem too much higher than purchasing at the theater.
Buying movietickets.com gift cards are a scam. You can NOT redeem them. There is no way to dispute, redeem or anything. If you buy one for someone they will be extremely disappointed because they will never get to use them.
So to use your movietickets.com gift cards you have to go through Fandango website. If you have an issue the live chat is with Fandango and they could give 2 cents about whatever issue you have going on. I spoke to live chat agent named Lily, who could care less and than tells me she saw the same issues I was having but that there was nothing to be done about it. Told me she would escalate it and get back to via email in 24 to 48hours. We are trying to get in the movie today not 2 days from now. IMO this clearly explains why movie theaters are dead and no one is in the theaters, if its this hard to give them our money why bother. The redbox is so much easier to deal with.
We also bought our gift cards from Sam's during the thanksgiving black friday deal and I agree with the other review that Sam's Club should do a better job at checking these things and not sell gift cards that are made just to scam customers. SAM's CLUB should not ever sell these movietickets.com gift cards again... they are totally crap gift cards, that charge you an additional fee to use something you already paid for; what a scam!
I received two gifts cards as a birthday present. Both for $25.00. One card worked, the other did not. I contacted movietickets.com and they asked for pictures of both sides of the bad card. I sent what they asked for and they replied a few days later telling me that they tried the card and it worked. When I tried using the card again, it didn't work. I contacted them again and my email was returned ''undelivered'' by *******@movietickets.com.
I'm not trying anymore. They stole $25.00 from my friend and then ghosted. I'm telling everyone who will listen NOT to buy their gift cards.
I kept the emails in case they attempt to deny what they've done.
So the people who claim you cant redeem these are incorrect. Its fairly easy but anyone giving this prepaid "discount" a positive review apparently can not do basic math. Sam's Club also should be called out on this as well. If you pay $40 to Sam's you get $50 credit for movietickets.com then you go to the website to redeem. The tickets are typically a little higher priced than at the theater BUT then they tack on a "convenience fee" of $1.70 per ticket. Sooo 8 tickets purchased at the theater for a $6.25 afternoon matinee at the box office was exactly $50 BUT going through the scam prepaid discount deal it winds up being $65.84! What a serious waste of time and money. There should be a class action lawsuit agaist such dishonest practices.
I bought a gift card multi-pack at my favorite big warehouse retailer. Went to use one today and discovered the cards have no PIN and therefore do not work on the Fandango site to buy tickets and there appears to be no other way to redeem them... epic rip off! Found no help searching online resources that might offer resolution. Its like this issue is top secret. To add insult to injury, the Fandango "help" link is so incredibly backed up (no surprise), I gave up after waiting 43 minutes for live chat assistance. Yep, I was that determined to resolve... however, "chat help" was a no show. NOT A FAN. Never "donating" my $ by default for these again.
Ok check it out. I once thought the same thing but after some research and homework I figured out how to use them and what site to use them on.
Do not throw them away the gift cards work on a website and you can also pick the movie location you wanna attend.
The website is called movietickets.com
I just bought (5/30/19) two of the $25 gift cards from SAMs and redeemed them today (6/15/19) for the family to see Secret Life of Pets 2. Yes, MovieTickets.com was bought out by Fandango... but you CAN REDEEM THE GIFT CARDS. Just not on Fandango's site. You have to go to the movie tickets.com site & select the movie, and check out. SIMPLE. It does say on the redemption process to register an account, but I checked out as a guest & it worked fine. Also - I was able to apply my FREE Stubs member number and waive the $6.95 fee. Easy process, I will purchase these gift cards again!
Bought movie tickets and it was automatically worth less than I paid for it. I tried to contact
Customer service and it is virtually non-existent. Don't bother
It is the worst gift card I've ever bought... you call their 800 you will have an automated message telling you to email no phone calls and they don't even bother to mention the email address
They over charge the prices of the tickets so it is cheaper to buy it from the theatre
Will never use this stupid gift card what so ever
I received 2 gift cards as a gift and like everyone else says since they are part of fandango you can't use movietickets gift cards on fandango. Movietickets, fandango and sams club who the gift cards came from should all be ashamed to let this scam go on.
Can only use the gift card if ticket total is < gift card amount. You FORFEIT the remaining cash on the card. On top of that, you pay over $3 per ticket in convenience fees. Web site very tricky and drops gift card to get you to pay with a credit card. Do NOT enter CC info here.
Rec'd two $25.00 gift cards and unable to use as Fandango does not honor gift cards from Movietickets.com. Fandango and Movietickets.com should be ashamed of themselves as they are ripping people off. Dirt Bags
Unfortunately they haven't answered my email so I took the ride and the right time in the right seats but for some reason it's switch to the day I'm making it so I have no choice but to email support I wish time they don't answer so yes you're getting one if I could give them nothing I would they took $23.96 dog won't say again condemned again to change a day next time I'm going with the time I am going with the the Fandago at least answer the phone
I'm having the same issues as everyone else with movietickets.com gift cards.
Here is the real issue, they were bought by fandango in 2017, and have pushed their tickets purchasing over to fandango. Movietickets.com is nothing more than a landing page that redirects to fandango. The problem is that fandango does not honor these gift cards when they absolutely should. Bombard fandango with support emails until they fix it.
This business is straight up fraud. They steal your money and you get nothing. You can't get anyone to answer the phone as it's a recording and then the recording asks you to message their customer service department. It's criminal what's going on. Straight up fraud. I am contacting my state attorney generals office. I'm out $50 bucks don't you be. Be smart, don't give a dime to the slime of a business.
Not only did I have to download the app it cost me $25.30 to see for two tickets that should have cost $20. Gift card has 27 numbers to input perhaps the worst idea of a gift card anyone could give some one.
I think everyone on this site said it better than me. Run! Don't get nothing from movie tickets.com. EVER!
Answer: You have to process the purchase through movietickets.com instead. PS When I followed the web address printed on the back of the card, there was a "404 error," but if you simply type "movietickets.com" without all of the extra stuff, it works perfectly.
Answer: Call Fandango and ask them. Many people are saying movietickets.com gift cards do not work on Fandango. I wish you luck.
Answer: Try redeeming it through MovieTickets.com website. Select the movie, the showing you'd like and then check out as a guest. Look for the movietickets.com card option at check out. If you have a free Stubs member number, enter that as well to waive the convenience fee. Hope that helps!
Answer: I just spoke with Fandango Customer Service. We are connected to Movietickets.com but they do not honor Movietickets.com gift cards. Fandango has their own gift cards and you must contact Movietickets.com to activate. I also just called Sam's and the guy that answered the phone stated to call Walmart at 1-800-Walmart. So, I called Walmart at the 800# and spoke with lady by the name of, Madori, she stated that Sam's has their own Customer Service phone # 888-746-7726. Andrew at Sam's 800# stated to go to Sam's Customer Service desk and they will look up your purchases. If you purchased the gift cards within the last 3 years they will refund your money. Andrew stated that they will look at removing the gift cards from on-line and in store purchases. :)
Answer: You have to use it on movietickets.com instead. When I tried the website as printed on the back of the gift cards, it says "error 404," but when I simply typed "movietickets.com" without the extra stuff, it worked perfectly.
