Oddly enough, the website printed on the back of the gift cards gives a "404" error, but when I simply typed "movietickets.com" it worked like a charm. We selected our theatre, selected our tickets, and printed out the confirmation number. No problem at all. Yes, there are some added fees, but the total didn't seem too much higher than purchasing at the theater.
I bought a gift card multi-pack at my favorite big warehouse retailer. Went to use one today and discovered the cards have no PIN and therefore do not work on the Fandango site to buy tickets and there appears to be no other way to redeem them... epic rip off! Found no help searching online resources that might offer resolution. Its like this issue is top secret. To add insult to injury, the Fandango "help" link is so incredibly backed up (no surprise), I gave up after waiting 43 minutes for live chat assistance. Yep, I was that determined to resolve... however, "chat help" was a no show. NOT A FAN. Never "donating" my $ by default for these again.
Do not use movietickets.com. It took forever for the transaction to go through. Keeps saying error, customer service only advised to delete cookies. After trying for 45 minutes we finally got tickets purchased. HOWEVER we purchased 6 tickets but it only reserved 5 seats. Their customer service just refers us to the theater. The seats that are showing as reserved in our email are showing as available on the theaters information. The link where you are suppose to go to print the tickets give me an error saying error 505. Never using them again.
After purchasing for my elderly parents I discovered they had gone to the movies but were not admitted because they were told they had to purchase tickets with these cards online. At 82 were unsuccessful and wanted to give them back to me. I went online to purchase for them and find out I have to pay a 3 dollar fee every time I make a purchase unless I join a cinema club. I requested a refund but was denied. If your thinking of buying to give as a gift I sure as he'll would not recommend. With a 100.00 gift expect to pay an additional 12.00 for 4 visits to the movies. They suck
Worst gift card and website I have ever come across. It actually costs more to get movie tickets than to walk up to the cinema and buy at site. Do not use this site and do not buy their terrible gift cards. A complete rip off
I'm having the same issues as everyone else with movietickets.com gift cards.
Here is the real issue, they were bought by fandango in 2017, and have pushed their tickets purchasing over to fandango. Movietickets.com is nothing more than a landing page that redirects to fandango. The problem is that fandango does not honor these gift cards when they absolutely should. Bombard fandango with support emails until they fix it.
Customer service is at least polite but this is unacceptable service for their standard procedures. Their website is down for the theater I want so I cant purchase a movie ticket with my gift card. I have to go in person and pay at the window with cash or credit card. Wtf is the point of the gift cards if I cant use them at the place I want? Im very disappointed they dont have a work around when these issues pop up.
I bought these gift cards from Costco, I must say that it was a big mistake. You have to do everything online and just when I thought that you could use it for food at the movie theatre, WRONG AGAIN! Plus, you have to pay $1.00 everytime you use
It online. Each gift card is $25.00 and if you bought one ticket, it tells you print it or redeem it at the kiosk (if you're theatre had a kiosk) so let's say you're movie ticket is 12 bucks you place your ticket order pay $1 and now you have $13 dollars left. You can't use the $13 dollars towards food so you would use it for another day and pay another $1. Very irritating especially if you're giving them out as gift and the person that's receiving the card has to pay $1?
I received 2 gift cards as a gift and like everyone else says since they are part of fandango you can't use movietickets gift cards on fandango. Movietickets, fandango and sams club who the gift cards came from should all be ashamed to let this scam go on.
The tickets processing is horrible, you sign in and you are directed to submit your credit card information with no information about gift cards, very little time to finish your ticket order. Your better off buy cards from the theater.
It is the worst gift card I've ever bought... you call their 800 you will have an automated message telling you to email no phone calls and they don't even bother to mention the email address
They over charge the prices of the tickets so it is cheaper to buy it from the theatre
Will never use this stupid gift card what so ever
STAY AWAY, DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! Absolutely the WORST customer service. Website take payment information then freezes. Cannot log on again because it says "order in progress." You will not get confirmation number, text or email. Customer service is ZERO. The published phone number is only a bunch of recorded sales pitches after which you get a message that claims the number for "your area" has changed. Call that number and all you get are more sales pitches. Fortunately my cc company cancels orders no questions asked. But I wonder how many folks living paycheck use a debit card and have to wait for a refund, if they ever get one. Total BS site. Stay away!
What a horrible site. Nothing about it works - neither the on-line site nor the mobile app. Hollywood, with all its money, couldn't hire better programmers? I feel sorry for the movie theaters that signed up with these guys, because nobody in their right minds would walk down this path of stupidity hell. Shame on movietickets.com. Their mothers are hanging their heads...
Nothing to say that hasn't already been said. My biggest complaint is the mandatory "convenience" fees. I understand wanting to make a profit, but 1. Can't use gift cards, *except* on movietickets.com branded website or mobile app, 2. Because of point 1, can't avoid the $1.50 convenience fee per adult ticket. It's like paying a fee to pay your bill. It's an organized shakedown. Know that if you purchase tickets for someone in the amount of $25, you're really giving them a card worth $20.50, assuming they purchase three adult tickets. Also... brush up on your typing skills, you have four - five minutes to complete your transaction, including page loading times. Also, the reserve seating thing... at theaters that have no method of recognizing or enforcing reserved seats? [smh] In case it's not obvious, I do not recommend this service.
Tip for consumers:
Just go to the theater to purchase tix or use one of the other more reputable services, and if you feel like giving extra money away, find someone down on their luck to donate to.
I logged into the website having to create a password which requires me to run through 11 different kinds of hoops for creating an account. Ease up guys you are not a bank. No need to annoy your customers by making the password creation so hard. To make matters worse is your selection of ppl. Children under the age of 6 is not allowed and anyone under 12 is a child and anyone over 62 is senior. It is so confusing i feel someone from 5 th grade made your website. Then to top it all i paid using my credit card and payment got charged but neither did i get the tickets or an email but just "an oops something went wrong look below for the deets" stop setting up messages like you are douchebag millennial and work on your annoying jigsaw website interface.
So the people who claim you cant redeem these are incorrect. Its fairly easy but anyone giving this prepaid "discount" a positive review apparently can not do basic math. Sam's Club also should be called out on this as well. If you pay $40 to Sam's you get $50 credit for movietickets.com then you go to the website to redeem. The tickets are typically a little higher priced than at the theater BUT then they tack on a "convenience fee" of $1.70 per ticket. Sooo 8 tickets purchased at the theater for a $6.25 afternoon matinee at the box office was exactly $50 BUT going through the scam prepaid discount deal it winds up being $65.84! What a serious waste of time and money. There should be a class action lawsuit agaist such dishonest practices.
If I could give this -10 stars I would! My sweet grandpa got me a gift card for my birthday and the card doesnt even work. COMPLETE FRAUD. They wont refund him his money, and I was hung up on by a rep. Im not a rude person either. Super disappointed and upset.
Do not by gift cards from movietickets.com. They will not work it is a huge scam. Have filed complaint with BBB. The reviews are correct you can not even order movie tickets online or the app. When you call customer svc the line is busy or you just get a recording. Don't buy don't buy waste of money and most likely a scam. If you have had the same issue please file complaint with the Better Buisness Bureau. Waiting to here back its been 2 days.
I ordered tickets off of the site and, not realizing that I was on the mobile site, I wasn't offered the option to select my seats. When I called customer service, I waited on hold for ten minutes only to be told by the customer service rep that it was my fault for ordering off of the "wrong site". Here's a thought, why not focus on offering the same core functionality on the mobile site and, even more basic, train your customer support reps to offer sympathy and to never place blame on their customers. It is incredibly frustrating to be charged a convenience fee for this experience.
I received 4 $25 gift certificates for Christmas and try to use them the next day. The movie was in a small theater that had reserved seats. After some difficulty and a few site timeouts that happened way too quickly, I was able to secure three tickets on the fourth row. I carefully followed the directions to check out and when it came time to enter my code as directed, I entered the 6-digit code that was on the back of each gift card. None of the codes on the backs of the cards worked. Frankly, I was looking for and expecting a much longer code, possibly with alpha digits as well. The only codes shown on the cards were these 6-digit ones. Nothing worked. I then went to Fandango and by the time I logged in there the only seats available were on the first row. At least this site work and I have now recovered from the headache I received from watching a movie from Row one. I will be taking these gift cards back for a full refund.
MovieTickets.com sold us tickets for a movie that was later cancelled. They did not notify us the movie was cancelled or would not refund our purchase fee. It is a gamble to use this site. Will not use them again.
How good is it if you can't USE it? Every movie we select, and every time we select, states that they don't "ticket" for that theater, and we'd have to go to Fandango to purchase tickets, but Fandango doesn't accept MovieTickets.com cards.
Rec'd two $25.00 gift cards and unable to use as Fandango does not honor gift cards from Movietickets.com. Fandango and Movietickets.com should be ashamed of themselves as they are ripping people off. Dirt Bags
Can only use the gift card if ticket total is < gift card amount. You FORFEIT the remaining cash on the card. On top of that, you pay over $3 per ticket in convenience fees. Web site very tricky and drops gift card to get you to pay with a credit card. Do NOT enter CC info here.
I ordered tickets for an event, and needed to cancel. Unfortunately, the website doesn't offer a means to refund tickets even if I have the confirmation number or information related to the purchase.
EVERY other website has this option, yet movietickets.com doesn't offer this. It is absolutely unacceptable that a movie tickets website doesn't offer this option for the convenience of the consumer.
Tip for consumers:
Word of advice: don't use this site.
movietickets.com is a total scam! I was charged a $1 convenience fee when there no convenience realized when purchasing a movie ticket online thru the site. No printable online ticket is generated! You still have to go to the ticket window at the theater and present your credit card to get a ticket! In actuality the service is an INCONVENIENCE! Time and effort is simply wasted making the online purchase since doing so saves no time whatsoever at the theater! To top it off the online purchase doesn't even guarantee a seat at the movie!
Tip for consumers:
DO NOT USE IT!!!
The gift card redemption is a sham. You have a balance and go through the site and they require a credit card to process the order. They then charge the credit card the full price for the ticket. This happened over and over after we had bought a 4 pack of $25 gift cards thinking it would be a good deal. Nope, we had to pay full price AND pay the service fee. Don't give these gift cards (unless you hate the person) and if you get one as a gift give it to your worst enemy and let them have the aggravation.
Find movies, get showtimes and buy your tickets ahead of time to ensure you get the best seats--without having to wait in line.
