AVOID RENTING FROM THIS COMPANY!
Prior to hurricane Ian and even more so after hurricane Ian, my sister and I have been having a hard time breathing in the home that we rent from Main Street Renewal. We have contacted them several times about the ductwork in the home. They have created multiple work orders for various problems that happened from the hurricane. Out the 13 separate work orders created only 3 have actually been completed. We have had to purchase an air purifier for the home in hopes that we can breathe better. They have sent a person out on 3 separate occasions... they look at the ductwork. Each of them indicating that "Yes, the ductwork does need cleaning". Then they cancel the work order and respond that it is complete and that the cleaning of their HVAC Unit is "Tenant Responsibility". We still have a broken fence, soffit and gutters that are still damaged, and the roof that is still damaged. We have been waiting 3 months for these repairs and still nothing.
I'm starting a petition against this company, once I have the link I will post it, I am going to make them famous by telling people to stay away from them. And every tenants from this company that has a horrible experience with them need to contact their local mayor, the news station and put them on blast. This company is scamming their tenants from their hard earned money.

Today was the day my air ducts was getting cleaned and they found years of dust and mold in my master bedroom vents. I haven been telling mainstreet that my family and I was getting sick due to mold and they send a mold company and they said they can't find any didn't even bother to take down the vent. Like I said soon as the Duct doctor came to clean the air ducts they found mold in the same place I said.

I rent a house from Main street renewal. When I move in the house had roaches in all the kitchen drawers.the dishwasher had water in it. Carpet was dirty. When I move out the house was cleaner then they give it to me. I won in court. Because they trying to keep my deposits i. Filled in 2017 went to court in 2019 still waiting on my money
Customers service at MSR don't do their job, they should fire all of them and hire people that really want to work. No one cares, it's been 19 days without a fridge, I text, call almost every day, last Friday MSR worker came to see the fridge said that I need a new fridge I'm still waiting. MSR keep asking me to pay my rent but refused to provide a fridge. All MSR cares about its money. I also pay my rental insurance every month and MSR still charging me for it. It's ridiculous to live in a place when you pay your rent every month on time and still can't get good service.
I applied paid all the fees. Was told the house i wanted was already rented. But ive seen the same house on different websites still for rent. This company takes fees for property thats not for rent. Scam
We have several issues since we moved in and opened several maintenance requests. After having to escalate (we were told it would be over 30 days to get our repairs done, which include plumbing issues, we finally got a date (today 9/25/23). Got a text that the tech A. D. (just initials, but we have his name) was on his way, click here for ETA (didn't work). Then, got a text that the repair was complete. HE NEVER SHOWED UP. Then I called and found out he canceled the request and opened a new one to put us back in the queue. Customer service is a JOKE! Sorry, can't help. Putting you back in the queue. NOT ACCEPTABLE. "by the way, you can pay your rent on the portal" Seriously WTF? Sadly, the house is great and in a great neighborhood. Everything else is horrible so far. And please do not reply saying "we're sorry and contact us" because that doesn't work!
I've been getting fined 25$ for things that's not true. They've charged me for landscaping, a shed, and now about a trampoline that they said isn't placed correctly in my yard. I've sent several pictures and other proofs to them but they continue to ignore me and add money to my ledger. They tell me to call the HOA to speak with them. They never show me proof of the charges they say HOA is sending them and I spoke with the HOA lady and she denied it. They sent me something on the 18 of May saying I had a shed and something else on the side of the road and it's not true. I had a couch on the side of the road the first part of May and the City of Charlotte has a confirmation number proving it's been gone.

I am really disappointed in Mainstreet to be completely honest. I've lived in a home for over two years and then the house was sold to them. I tried to renew my lease and I was denied. I tried to seek more info on why I was denied but never got a clear answer. I was forced out of my home with my two kids. This company has also brought several other homes in that same neighborhood and most my neighbors were forced to leave their home due to being denied or the rent going up ridiculously. They came into low income neighborhoods and price the houses up. I wish you guys did more research on the neighborhoods you move into.
My Christmas in my new home is ruined. Brand new home that was built last year and this the outcome. The builders left a pipe lose which caused a slow leak that ruined my kitchen and living room floor. The garage has mold on the walls plus the living room and kitchen floor has to be treated and replaced. This will not be completed by Christmas. My entire 2nd floor is out of order. Main Street Zhongshan is responsible for the repairs and damages. It's been a month and work is not complete. Worst experience ever. Stay away from the company

I am normally a very patient person, but this is absolutely ridiculous. This company guarantees providing other accommodations in light of a situation such as these. Its in the contract agreement.

This company overcharges for everything a $250 pet deposit (nonrefundable) per pet as well as an additional $35 per pet added onto rent. It also costs $50 per person just to apply for the house. They give you a ten day window to move in immediately after finding out you got accepted. Makes it impossible to go from one rental property to theirs. Im currently renting a different home and need a new place to go, found one of their properties I love but I'm not willing to pay two rents at a time because they want me to move in ten days after finding out. They make no exceptions, go somewhere else or mainstreet renewal needs to fix their rules.

I pay my expensive rent on time. I have pets that are ESA certified and they are trying to illegally charge me. Christmas Eve I started having water pressure in my wall. Two days later they finally sent a plumber. The plumber left a 6 foot gap outside by ripping off the wood and siding. During winter we have snow and rain which is poring into the hole. After 40 phone calls and 20 emails nothing has been done and they gave me appts for 1/10 th. They also left a gaping hole in the bathroom which can wait but a gaping hole leaving the undercarriage of the home to get wet and fill with mold is not excusable. Put up plywood till you can get to it would make sense but they do not want to do their job. All they say is well it won't be your fault. And this *******@msrenewal.com is a joke. I emailed them with no response.

Told roommates and I (college students) we were allowed cosigners. Took $200 in application fees and then told us they actually do not take cosigners. They kept the $200 and never contacted us again. The general manager, Mike Murphy declined all calls.

This company is a scam! They take your money for the application and even if you meet all qualifications you they will deny you. When you try to call you get non English speaking agents that you can't understand and they will not let you speak to management. THIS IS A SCAM! Renters Beware!

We had a leak under our house and they said if we paid the bill for it, they would take it out of our rent. But they ended up not keeping their word and said we paid it because we wanted too. And we still had to pay our rent and a high $#*! water bill for something that were their fault. And yea not to m3en they sent a shade tree mechanic to fix it and he made the problem worse.
Main Street became the property manager 5 months into my lease. Four months later they post utility charges to my account of which I have already paid under my name and from my bank account. I have been calling and emailing since April 29,2022 and provided proof that I paid the utility bills twice and they still have not resolved the issue. Today I noticed another $58 charge was added for another month and the lease ended June 30th. I asked to speak to a manager and the representative told me that there was not a reason to talk to a manager because he did according to their policy- he emailed the utility group but he could not copy or forward me the email. It had been 3 months and no resolution or a manager to talk to.

Whatever you do, do NOT go through this leasing company. It has been nothing but a horrific hassle from the day we signed the lease to now. Customer service is TERRIBLE, they will take weeks (if not months) to get back to you. If something is wrong/damaged with your property, they don't care. They won't send anyone out to fix it or even look at the situation. If you need to contact them with an urgent matter, once again, THEY DO NOT CARE. I've never seen a company this bad. I'm never one to leave negative reviews and usually I like to clear things up before any negativeness gets thrown around, but I can't stress this enough… do not give these people your money.

I had a home invasion twice with my kids and I in it held a gun point and Main Street Renewal would not let us move out we had to stay inside of the lease was over even though we had a police report worse is the company ever.
Answer: Don't bother... waste of money for an overpriced house. Their customer service is terrible. They give you the run around and the techs they send out are not certified. Look like people the just find off the street and hire for a repair to do. My husband and I are currently looking for an attorney to get out of this lease. We've only been renting from them for 4 months and have had SOOO many problems with this house. Look else where.
