I tried to rent a home from Mainstreet Renewal and lost out on the house because the leasing agent wanted to take her time even look at it and I lost out on that house. Then I call 8 am the next morning 9/13/2023 to move my application to a house that had only been posted a hour and I was the 1st view the house. Asked for my application to be moved, the agent said it takes 24 to 48 hours to be transferred to another house, a already processed app from another house. The leasing agent sends me a email 9/15/2023 at 5 pm asking for another form knowing she's off the weekend so any form needed will not be seen until 9/18/2023. I call 8 am on the 18th to find out if it has been moved and was told that the form stopped them from moving the app to the second house but it didn't stop me from appling for the first house. Which gave them another 24 to 48 hours to process. To only call today 9/19/2023 to be told that the first agent had the address spelled incorrectly he spelled Southland ( S. Land) and now the house has been leased to someone else. TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES and I'm a homeless vet trying to find a home and have to deal with this type of unprofessional incompetence.

We couldn't get past the application process to even view the home. Their website is NOT user friendly when inquiring about a home. They do not properly put that they show using Rently and how to navigate that app. When you call for help, the rep will not answer ANY of your questions with a straight answer. They will also continue to speak over you so you cannot be heard. We viewed 3 other MSR properties and online they looked fantastic! In person, it was VERY bait and switch. There were baseboards missing, caulking from the tub was missing. Things were dirty. There were also cigarette butts littered everywhere. Once of the houses didn't even have POWER! Yet they expect someone to pay $1500 in a low income neighborhood. They're gentrifying neighborhoods and pricing people out of homes that MSR can't even be bothered to clean before showing!
0/5 stars if it was possible.
After reading the reviews I'm glad we had such a terrible experience early on and will avoid renting from them ever in the future.

I wish I could rate this place on here but there's probably a reason they don't have that option available. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT RENT WITH THIS COMPANY.

I moved in a year and a half ago and it has been problem after problem since. Flooding upon moving in that wasn't resolved promptly, termites and roaches that wasn't resolved, etc etc.

Our most recent problem has been ongoing for two months. Our dishwasher broke mid May. We submitted a maintenance request and a worker showed up about a week and a half later. He said yup you need a new one I'll submit it. A week goes by I hear nothing so I call the line. The woman on the phone said oh ya there's no note of that so it wasn't ordered. She says she will escalate it and I will hear from them in a few days. A week goes by… nothing. I call again the woman on the phone says "oh there's no notes of this I'll escalate this." A week goes by… nothing. I call again the man on the phone says "ya I have no update for you." Finally I just submit another request. A worker comes out over a week later. While he's there he broke our sink and left us without running water for two days. Also obviously didn't fix our dishwasher. A new worker comes out a week later to submit pictures of our dishwasher for a THIRD TIME. We finally get one delivered to our house but surprise surprise it can't be installed. Whatever idiot redid our house put the dishwasher too far away from our sink so everything will have to ripped out. A worker was supposed to come today… he never showed up. It's been over two months of no dishwasher.

You will never ever talk to the same person more than once. Every time you email or call it will always be a different person. I was excited because I got this email saying she'd be our main contact. We heard from her one time and she no longer responds to any email.

This company is run by crooks who does not care about you or your money.

MSRENEWAL BOUGHT THE Property next to me. After almost 19 years and 10 months of living in this quiet neighborhood, I now am forced to put up a fence between my property and the property that MainStreet Renewal owns. They send people to cut grass and cut 1/3 of my property as well. They have broken my water meter cover without apology. When you call this company to right these wrongs, no one takes responsibility! They don't seem to care as they are owned by apparently many investors and one person you deal with has nothing to do with what another person deals with. It's like, I just open the door, I don't go through it. No one will get back to me when I make phone calls and when I speak to the person who "just" Checks the House, He has nothing to do with the grass cutter nor did he bother to report it to the investors. If you see MainStreet renewal signs going up in your neighborhood, it is not a good thing! No one bothers to look at a DEED! My only recourse will be calling the police EVERYTIME there is an issue to document! There are 0 stars for this monster of a CORPORATION but my review will only be seen to HELP YOU SO I HAD TO PUT A ONE.

HERE WE GO AGAIN!
August 21, 2022

I have had no running water since approximately 9:30am on 8/20/22. I called the water company first to see if it was their issue to only be told that I would need to contact a plumber. I contacted Mainstreet Renewal via their resident portal and made them aware of the situation. I then called as I feel that not having running water is an urgent request. The rep that I spoke with told me that she would escalate the work order and send ot to her manager. About 3 hours go by and I still didn't hear anything. So I call back. In told by this rep that they will have a vendor out tomorrow 8/21/22. I then asked how will I be compensated for this. He stated that he would send an email regarding relocation but this could take up to 24hrs. Here we are on Sunday and the vendor is running behind. Initially I was told that he would try to come first thing in the morning. The morning came and went and still no vendor. I called and was told that he was stuck at the last job but should be to me within the hour. Two hours later still no vendor. I called back to Mainstreet Renewal to inquire about the relocation and was told that because the vendor is to come out on 8/22/22 the relocation order is on hold. I called back and spoke to someone else and was told that the vendor is coming but running behind and should be to me in an hour. This company and their "processes" are absolutely idiotic. All of the reps that I spoke with were able to take showers/baths this morning, brush their teeth, flush the toilet, and wash their hands. I'm simply asking to be able to do the same. My 4 year old doesn't understand why she has to poop in a bag instead of the toilet. This is not the 1800's yet I feel like I'm living in it. Mainstreet Renewal is a joke. I can't wait until I get away from this LIVING HELL! The reps are the worst! You can never speak to a supervisor. The reps are probably bad and don't care because I'm sure they constantly get yelled at because of the lack of urgency that upper management has. I'll keep you updated as to how long it really takes to resolve this issue.

If I could give no stars I would. Our experience in this house was very unpleasant and will be reflected in our online review.
Our experiences include but are not limited to the following:
• No Heat for more than a month- December 24,2022- January 26,2023-During THE winter weather event
• Unable to use the bathtub for most of the year because of a leak that ruined the living room ceiling
• Appliances that broke down as soon after we moved into the house, and instead of getting similar appliances we were given downgrades. Part of our decision to move in was the appliances
• Shifting floorboards that have not been braced under the floorboard
• Maintenance equipment sitting in the bathroom for over 3 months/ also never returned to paint walls, or ceilings where a leak ruined the living room ceiling
• Door lock issues-downgraded to key locks from smart locks
• Utility bills, that we were told repeatedly were not valid bills from the time we moved in until December 31,2022- when CSR Brizida found an actual bill and because of this MSR took part of our rent and paid the gas bill and then charged us late charges.
• We were told many times that someone was going to address the issues with our account. We waited and nothing ever came of the situation. We were told to expect the call and the calls would never come and then on top of that they claim the value of the house went up and now they have to raise the rent from 2195 to 2395 (w/ a 50.00 discount)
We decided not to renew and gave them our date to move out 2/28 which was way before the deadline they set. Now they are saying that we have ten days. We are speaking to a lawyer, who happens to be a friend, and he is going to look over everything.

I would advise that you never rent from this company, NEVER, it was a horrible experience. Home Owners, you have many options for a Property Management Company. Don't use this company.

STAY AWAY FROM MSR
February 19, 2021

If anyone is in court with Main Street Renewal, and need a witness, I will cooperate. I have been renting living in a home for five years then MSR introduced itself as the new mgmt company Jan 4,2021. I was on a month to month with the previous management. One week later, MSR sent notice of raising my rent and needed me fill out a new application stating for their records. During this time, I reported my oven being out January 11,2021. Third week in, they rejected my app and said they can't rent to me. No oven replacement. They sent me the screening results which had a REJECT status and told me I can view the report that the screening bases its decision from. I did. The report had my income incorrect and the wrong NEW rent amount which indicates I do not meet the rental criteria, etc. I have been calling, sending emails, texts through the maintenance system and taking advantage of every avenue to get with these people. These people are everywhere and do not get back with you. It is Feb 20,2021 now. A new lease for me would be March 1st but I have to vacate the home because of their errors and them stating in their new lease renewal offer that if I am not signed into a new lease by March, the rent would be 1915. 00. I have been paying 1120. 00! And still no oven. They sent a text saying there is a nation wide shortage of appliances. If anyone is taking this company to court, or want to do a class action lawsuit, count me in. I went from sugar to s*** with this company. They will cause agony. I have decided to stop reaching out to them and just move on because there has to be a pot of gold on the other side. I have just humbled myself and accepted it is time to move on. God has a divine way of forcing us to move on. Stay away from this company.

Bait and Switch
July 26, 2022

This might be a little long but I'll share all the information that I have currently. About a month ago myself and two friends went through Main Street Renewal in order to rent a house for one year. The property is in Lehigh acres Florida. This morning, three days before myself and my friends are supposed to move in, we received an email stating that there is an individual occupying the house. I immediately called them up and they told me I have two options, I can either receive a full refund, or they can transfer my lease to another property. The lease is already signed by all parties, so I called a friend who told me I should call up the sheriffs office. I was informed by the desk officer that if the individual is not a previous renter, The owner of the house would be able to call the sheriffs department and have them evicted as a trespasser, however, if the person has ever had a lease before, there is due process that the property management company and property owner must go through. I was informed by the county clerk that I would need to contact an attorney to see if the rental property would need to cover me for all moving, temporary lodging, and storage costs as we were informed three days before the start of the lease. My parents think that this is possible price gouging in the terms that the rental company accepted two different applications and is trying to get us to agree to a lease on a more expensive property. I have the entire lease signed and printed out saved to my desktop. I'm thinking of moving forward in a law suit as this company failed to provide lodging based upon the agreed upon contract. I informed them I would take another property at the previously agreed price but they refused to do so. I've been in contact with my attorney and will be moving forward with a law suit.

I moved in one of their properties on March 24,2020. I applied 3/11 and was offered 500 gift card. I asked Sheena Williamson about the gift card 3/19 and she told me she was waiting for Barrie Bennett to reply. She came back and stated I would get it after 2 full months of rent were paid and to just email Barrie Bennett. So after June rent was paid I emailed Barrie Bennett the leasing agent and inquired about the move in offer and told oh no you were not eligible at the time you applied it was expired 5 days before. I then asked why was I not asked when I originally asked and so where did it state the expiration date on offer. Barrie replied she would forward to higher management and no one til this day has responded to me. It took this company 3 months to do any repairs from when I moved in 3/24, which I understood due to the pandemic. I put in numerous request and they kept getting canceled until I started complaining. My air conditioner went out Friday 7/16, they referred me to a company Sunday 7/21 I called and emailed them twice everyday until Wednesday. I emailed Barrie Bennett about not getting in contact with any one and being without air for almost 5 days and she stated a work order was put in they should be contacting you, try contacting them instead of her assisting me by calling herself as a concerned Mainstreet employee. I had to call corporate to get a representative to help. The first company to whom Mainstreet sent the work order to was not accepting orders. The representative had to find another company that would take the work order. The new company sent someone out Yesterday 7/25 figured out that the fan was gone on the AC and needed and new one. I am still without AIR! I have not heard from them anymore! You can never get in contact with anyone from this company. If you do they have terrible customer service like Barrie Bennett. I am in a home I am paying 1725. 00 monthly. I can not get anything done with this company. I would never recommend them to anyone. I am going on my social network where I have over 38,000 followers to make sure everyone is aware!

A RENTERS NIGHTMARE
March 6, 2019

I only gave them a 1 star because ZERO is not an option. I am dealing with an absolute nightmare and I can not get a human to call me on the phone despite frantic emails BEGGING for a call. I have NEVER missed a rent payment and they act like slum lords by not having the professional decency to call me back. Long story short, I have been dealing with squirrels in the attic on and off for months and the first time they did a half assed job at taking care of the situation so the squirrels keep coming back. I emailed them right away after the first repairs telling them the squirrels would be back because of the half assed repairs and they did not cover all the open holes but they did NOTHING and now I have had rodents GNAWING, banging and scratching in the attic for almost TWO weeks. I can not stay at the house I am paying rent for! I have BEGGED for a human to call me but no one has been professional to do so. My lease is up in May and I will NEVER resign! It would be like committing myself to another year of their abuse and unprofessionalism. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. Rent from RPM Management, that is an AMAZING company that treats their tenants with respect and offer human contact and communication. They call you back the same day and are amazing at handling repairs quickly and professionally.

UPDATE: I have been emailing the office all day begging to have a human call me and 10 hours later and still no call. That place is a sham.

I am relocating from Tampa, FL to San Antonio, TX. I was shown a home by a local realtor and submitted my application immediately on Feb. 8th. Asking for the move in date to me March 3rd. It took a week to get an approval. Once I got the approval on Feb 16th I made the deposit within 24 hours. I am HUD VASH so they had to work with the VA. Ken Grey was horrible to work with. He made it known that he doesn't like working with Section 8. He was slow to return any paperwork that was requested by the VA. I had to actually call and hold him hostage over the phone to make sure he submit everything that was requested. When he did all the information was incorrect. He refused to answer anymore emails or phone calls. I paid on Feb. 17 and over a month later I still hadn't moved in. On the 19th of March I finally had an inspection. When the MSR Inspector showed up he turned on the dishwasher and the pipes busted in the kitchen. The water ran so fast in the kitchen and in the backyard. I was not happy because I had asked for someone to turn the water at a trickle during the massive snowstorm. I was told that they will send someone out. They never did. It took a month to get an inspection. That meant it would take at least another two months for them to fix and inspect it again. I immediately asked for a full refund. I do not recommend anyone to rent from them. The house I was trying to rent was 6507 Ridge Circle Drive, San Antonio, TX *******
