Accounting hang up
October 1, 2022

I will say I am new to PayPal and the only reason for me to use PayPal was to get paid for work I've done while the people were out of town. So I set up an account because I needed to be paid on a Friday before I leave town myself to see an old friend that had emergency heart surgery.
Little did I know PayPal will put a hold on the funds for 24 to 72 hours since I'm new to PayPal. I Called customer service where I was told of the policy and I explained the reason for the urgency of my funds to be released and the female put me on hold to talk to her manager, she came back and said her manager would allow me to talk to accounting to see if I could get me funds released. She told me to stay on the line and she will transfer me to accounting. Over 5 minutes has passed and I had my phone on speaker and next thing I heard was a click( they hung up)
I called back to hear there's over a 30 to 40 minute wait time Si I refused the call back from them because I already did the 20 to 30 minute call back and to go thought all the questions they need from me.
If I would of known this policy of holding funds for first time accounts I wouldn't of joined PayPal. I spent the money I had on a hotel room for 2 nights totalling over $300 expecting the funds on Friday. Now here it is Saturday night and funds are still on hold and I still can't go see my friend in the hospital. Thanks PayPal accounting for the hang up and now I've lost the $300 in hotel stays, if I would of known about the hold I would of stayed 1 night and had the money to get there and back. Now the people that paid me comes back late tonight so if I have to I will definitely cancel the transaction and take PayPal off my phone and go see my friend on Monday and loosing a day or to of income because of accounting can't answer a phone call
Now I see why your reviews are only a 2.5 star

PayPal has revolutionized the way we handle online transactions, and it continues to be a leading platform for secure money transfers and online payments. Having used PayPal for several years, I can confidently say that it provides an exceptional user experience with its seamless functionality and robust security measures.

One of the standout features of PayPal is its simplicity. Setting up an account is a breeze, and linking it to your bank account or credit card is straightforward. The user interface is intuitive and user-friendly, making it easy to navigate through various payment options, account settings, and transaction histories.

Security is a top priority for PayPal, and it consistently delivers in this aspect.
The platform implements advanced encryption technologies, ensuring that sensitive financial information is protected from unauthorized access. Additionally, PayPal offers an added layer of security through its two-factor authentication system, providing peace of mind to users.

PayPal's versatility is another noteworthy aspect. It is widely accepted by numerous online merchants, making it convenient for users to make purchases across a wide range of websites and e-commerce platforms. Moreover, PayPal's "PayPal.me" feature allows for hassle-free peer-to-peer transactions, allowing users to send and receive money effortlessly.

Another aspect that sets PayPal apart is its excellent customer service. The company offers multiple channels for support, including a comprehensive help center, a dedicated customer support team, and a vibrant online community forum. Whether it's resolving payment disputes or addressing account-related issues, PayPal's support is prompt and helpful.

As with any financial platform, there are some minor downsides to consider. PayPal's fees can be a concern for some users, especially when it comes to international transactions or currency conversions. However, the convenience and security offered by PayPal generally make up for these fees.

In conclusion, PayPal is a trusted and reliable platform that simplifies online transactions and provides peace of mind. Its seamless functionality, robust security measures, widespread acceptance, and exceptional customer service make it an excellent choice for individuals and businesses alike. I highly recommend PayPal for all your online payment needs.

I have been transferring funds through PayPal for several years now. Since 2017 I have transferred fairly large amounts to the same individual, as in $650 to $750 at a time every single month using PayPal. And suddenly, I transferred $840 (not much more than I normally transfer each month), to the same individual I always send funds to every month, and PayPal flagged the transaction as suspicious. That is odd and poor customer service. Especially since I have a long history of sending similar amounts of money to the same individual, and suddenly they want to flag my transfer even though there is literally nothing unusual about the transfer whatsoever? This doesn't make sense, and of course, since PayPal flagged the transfer they have placed a hold on the funds so that the individual I sent the funds to can't even access these funds. I spent some real time trying to locate a number to call a customer service representative with PayPal and trying to get through to a representative only to be given a standard, generic response, that all transfers may take 5-7 business days. Well, after I pressed the representative for more information it turned out that they had flagged the transfer. PayPal didn't notify me that they flagged the transfer either, they just left me completely in the dark as to why it has now been 7 days since I completed a normal transfer and yet PayPal still hasn't released the funds.
The customer service was not great though the customer service is often poor with PayPal. Recently, a friend told me that she has had issues with her PayPal account as well. And from what I am reading online, other people have had issues with PayPal unnecessarily flagging transfers as well and placing lengthy holds on their funds. With all of this hassle trying to simply complete a routine transfer through PayPal, it's not worth it. I'd rather transfer funds virtually any other way. I ordered checks to avoid using PayPal to transfer funds in the future and if you're looking for a hassle free way to transfer funds, Venmo is a much better alternative. This is what happens when a corporation tries to make too many of their processes automated. An automated system will make errors that a human representative will not make. I guarantee you that PayPal's automated system flagged this transaction I am referring to and if a human representative had viewed the same transaction they would have approved it and a hold would not have been placed on my funds. If you try to send a message to PayPal, you also have to first go through their automated system which is often useless and frustrating to communicate with. PayPal wants to cut corners and save money by replacing human assistants with automated systems and the customer service has greatly declined as a result. So PayPal saves money, at the expense of the consumer.

Many of my business partners have requested to be paid in PayPal, but it never works.

I have a PayPal account for probably 10 years, but every time anyone has sent me money on PayPal, I'm not able to withdrawl it from my account! For example, one time I logged-in and it said

"Sorry, we can't log you in. If you think there's a problem with your account, contact us and we'll help resolve it."

I wanted to contact them, but it said I needed to log-in to contact support. So I couldn't contact them. And I couldn't get the money that was sent to me.

Eventually, the money that was sent to my account was sent-back to the sender automatically. This happens every time someone sends me money on PayPal.

The last time I signed-up for a new PayPal account, it sent me an email to confirm my email address immediately after signup. I clicked the link, and it asked me to login again (I confirmed the domain and TLS was correct). After login, it said

"After a review, we've decided to permanently limit your account due to potential risk. You'll not be able to conduct any further business using PayPal."

I clicked "See Details" and it said

"You can't use PayPal anymore
At PayPal, we value a safe community for our customers to do business. We noticed activity in your account that's inconsistent with our User Agreement and we no longer offer you PayPal services."

This was a brand-new account. There's no possible way I violated their ToS as all I did was signup and confirm my email address.

If I had to guess: PayPal has setup some very poor automated "security" protections that false-positive every time I attempt to use my accounts.

In the end, that makes their services unusable. I don't want someone to send me funds that I cannot access. It defeats the whole purpose of having the account.

Avoid PayPal if you want to have access to your funds.

First I noticed that a purchase of 68.99 on eBay billed Paypal (PP), then showed that PP billed my credit card 68.99. Next Seller, or hacker, charged my card for 167.99. No trail of transaction showed this amount, only amount charged to my linked credit card.

Next I immediately contacted Paypal customer service. As they asked, I filed claim and provided all files for claim. PP denied this claim. Later there were two invalid charges to Door Dash on my card.

Next I saw two transactions were made by Paypal where money was transferred from my bank account and used to by Bitcoin totaling about $7000. Again I contacted customer service, filed a claim and provided proof as they required. Their response was "denied your claim."

I made claims against my bank and credit card company who investigated, then approved my claim for these charges.

I emptied my PP account after these investigations and outcomes, then unlinked all cards and bank accounts on February 3,2021. On March 2 almost $7000 was withdrawn from my PP account with a zero balance and NO MONEY SOURCE LINKED. There was a transaction detail that mentioned "chargeback to bank account" but no money was transferred to my bank account. I talked to several customer service representatives and used their RESOLUTION center. I provided all the documentation that they asked for that proved my bank never received the money and there was no funding source linked to my account thus I could not have made the transfer. Again PP denied my claim. Now my account has a negative balance of almost $7000. Someone stole that money from my PAYPAL account and was either an inside person or a hacker. I will never link any payment source to that account and transfer money to PP that was stolen thanks to PP's lack of cybersecurity. Do not use PP for anything. They are dishonest and no one will help resolve anything even if you have irrefutable proof. Meanwhile my negative balance stays there because they are not a financial institution.

Hi I've been dealing with PayPal for years. I've also been dealing with the merchant that I buy and sell merchandise from for more years than I've been dealing with PayPal I would say over 6 years I've been dealing with this Merchant. PayPal has decided to close their account with the money that I paid the merchant for the items I bought which is over 32,000 worth of merchandise. I now have the merchant upset because they can't get their money which now they want me to send their merchandise back to them. I have no problem doing so because in the world of business when you buy merchandise no matter to cause if PayPal is holding the funds for no apparent reason I need to satisfy the merchant that I'm buying merchandise from so that I can continue to buy in the future without dealing with PayPal. PayPal has closed their account for no apparent reason I've used them through PayPal for several months and all of a sudden they want to close this merchant account with 32,000 sitting in it that they can't get. Well now I'm going to send the merchandise back to the merchant and PayPal wants to refund the money to the card that I purchased the merchandise with which I reported to them that the car was stolen last week I also reported that to the police department. Now the problem having with PayPal is they're telling me they're going to send the money back to a stolen card the last night in my possession. I don't know what to do I'm going to contact the lawyer at this point I have not filed a dispute with PayPal yet because their whole time is ridiculous two hours at a time I hope this review reaches someone that does not get put in this situation by PayPal and they can stop and hold and use another service because PayPal is ridiculous right now and their whole times are even more ridiculous 2 hours to hold to talk with a representative is ridiculous. I will give them zero Stars if I could at this point

My letter to PayPal... they blame me even though I was totally scammed by a Chinese vendor (drewireless.com). Their BS investigation said I made the purchase because it was made from the same IP address - even after I detailed to them how exactly my info was phished from the vendor:

The IP address WILL be the same because my personal information was Phished on the SAME device. All of the fraud occurred on the same device. I also used the SAME device to report the fraud to you immediately.

In the interim since your last message I did receive a set of earphones from the vendor

I contacted him numerous times for a return since I did NOT order these. He has not responded even once despite me mentioning that the package has not even been opened and that I did not order it.

I also took the package to the local Apple store for an evaluation. Apple has identified the headphones as complete knockoffs, not genuine Beats headphones (the Beats brand is wholly owned by Apple).

So you have a customer who legitimately got phished and had a fraudulent purchase made using his PayPal account

When I immediately reported the fraud to PayPal and tried to deal with the vendor myself, you supported the vendor and condoned his fraudulent activities. You also erroneously interpreted your investigative data and believed that to be true despite alternate interpretations of that data could be made that are actually more valid and truthful.

And now, after being a victim of fraud and fishing, I not only lost out on money, but I now have a fake product that I can't return to the vendor because the vendor has been unresponsive. This is despite him having a clearly written return policy on his fake website.

Congratulations to PayPal for the horrible job you did. I will forever remember this as a consumer and will not use any vendor which solely uses PayPal as the only source of payment.

PayPal is horrible
May 31, 2019

1st of all for those that dont know PayPal is so horrible that Ebay is on in process of taking PayPal out of there business site for 1 reason only and that's because of the large amount of unsatisfied customers making Ebay look bad so if a big company like Ebay is taking them out that's enoff to say stay away from PayPal you dont need them just use your credit or debit card and if there is any problems let Ebay deal with it also just to inform you PayPal is dealing with 3rd party companies out of the United states and there teaming up with them giving them the advantage of winning a case like what happened to me I purchased an item off Ebay 3 hours later the seller was kicked out of the site for not getting Authorized to sell the item I called Ebay notified them of the problem they sent me to PayPal after giving the seller 10 days to respond he responded on the 9th day now they gave me 3 days to respond but they never sent an email so they closed my case now I had to reopen my case giving the seller 10 more days he once again waited till the 10th day to respond and he did so once again PayPal informed me dont worry we will handle this and no more emails will be sent that was a lie and they sent an email that I had 3days to respond or I would loose the case so I called late at night before they closed and I got into a heated Argument with the Resources office and told them I could not get into the file to dispute it she kept telling me you must get into the file and file your dispute or I would loose the case I gave up send her to hell and closed my account...
Stay away from PayPal...

Today I received payment for painting my customers home. It was $1,000. Paypal decided to put a hold on my funds. I called once and was told it would be monday before I could even attempt to receive the $470. My account showed that I had access to the $500. However when I tried to instantly transfer my money, I was told it was under review. This is absurd! My electricity will be turned off today due to non payment because of this. Also I was highly embarrassed at the grocery earlier due to my transaction being declined. I have a 2 month old baby which needs diapers and food. I will be very proactive with voicing what has happened to me. Following is 2 links where I have submitted reviews. I plan to submit these reviews every where including all of my social media platforms in the hope that no other consumer ever has to go through what I have. Review I left: I have used paypal since 2019 to receive payments for donations to our charity as well as transfer funds between our volunteers and to receive payment in the event we provide a paint job to a client (there were more than 3 of these transfers). In the past all of my transfers were simple and I had no problem. Today however, my client paid me the $1,000 which I cannot access. Paypal took their $30 fee out and left me with no access to my money. They showed that they were holding $470 and that I had access to the other $500 and change. I called and was told it would be up to 21 days for the release to be made. Then I get into my account to transfer the $500 to my bank account that is linked with my paypal and I get a message saying once again that my money is pending. Usually my money goes immediately. Og and they also charged me another $5 to transfer the $500. I'm sure that once the hold is off the $470 that they will also charge me for that. All in all I have no access to the $1,000 I was paid and paypal will walk away with around 10% in their pocket. I have transferred thousands of dollars over the last 2 years. After this is fixed I will never again use paypal and I plan to be very vocal with this to other consumers so that nobody else will go through what I went through. I forgot to add that after I thought the transaction went through, I went to the grocery store to purchase food and my transaction was denied. I was mad as well as embarrassed. Never again paypal!
