My fiancé opened a corporate account and 6 months later she decided she didn't need it anymore and when we followed the PayPal online directions to close it and we literally clicked the "CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT" tab as the directions stated but we got a big X saying cannot be completed and to contact paypal for more information. I tried the messenger option which is rediculous because it doesn't put you in contact with a human. So then I found their number online and spoke to them and we couldn't believe what we heard. They said it must be escalated higher up to get it closed. They further states this account has limitations whatever the hell that means? We sure didn't place any limitations. The rep transferred us and we were on hold for 40 minutes and gave up. They seem to have purposely designed a system whereby it takes an act of congress and lots of wasted time and pain just to simply close your own business account. So what now? Call in again for another 40 minute hold? I always had a good image of PayPal but I see a pattern of PayPal using mafia obstacle type tactics to make it impossible or a very very long and arduous process. After witnessing how desperate they are to prevent people from simply closing their own accounts, I've decided to stop using them forever. A desperate and dark shadow has come over this company. See photos attached, apparently PayPal doesn't want to make it easy and convenient when you want to make an exit. It weeks of corporate desperation! This company will fail and collapse with this shadowy mafia like control against letting clients close their account.

I did not authorize any transaction to send money. On the 12th of October 2020 while I was still asleep a transaction was made on my PayPal account in the amount of $680 and $20.02 in fees. This amount was sent to someone whom I have no idea/connection/relations with what so ever. And transaction was sent as Friends and Families. PayPal was contacted 1 hours and so many minutes afterward. I contacted my bank first since I saw the transaction on my bank account. PayPal was contacted as soon as I realized the transaction was through PayPal. PayPal denied my dispute saying that my transaction was not unauthorized. Not considering the facts I have already told them. PayPal did not send me any notifications of suspicious activity logging in on another device until 10:48 AM PDT. While transaction was process at 09:16 AM PDT while I was asleep. I would stop using PayPal as they can denied and send your money where ever they want and say it's families and friends to whom you're sending too. They sent me two emails. One stating they denied my dispute due to it not being unauthorized. And the second one, stating that they cannot investigate into this matter since I filed it with my bank and not with them. I'll never use PayPal or any of it's affiliated business partners.

I disputed a charge via PayPal about a purchase that I made from Fashion Nova that I didn't receive. PayPal agreed to refund me, but instead of receiving a refund, I was actually charged AGAIN for this order that I didn't even receive. I was literally charged twice, two payments of $38.38, which is $76.76 that I lost. This is absolutely ridiculous! PayPal won't help me. My bank won't help me. Fashion nova won't help me. This is causing me so much distress! I shouldn't be charged twice for an order that I didn't even receive!
DO NOT USE PAYPAL THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY!

On May 12,2020 my wife ordered 2 Shark Cordless vacuum cleaners from Liu Ziye, a Chinese company, for $111. She paid with PayPal. The vacuums were purportedly sent by Chinese mail and then by USPS mail once in the United States. I tracked the items and discovered the items were delivered to us on the day specified; and according to our local post office personnel, the item (not items) was left in our mail box. Our mail box is located on the road in front of our house not on our front porch where packages are left if too large for the mail box. The only items we received from China on that day were 2 face masks which we did not order. I contacted the seller at the email address provided by PayPal. In return I received the same tracking number that was on PayPal without any further comment. My wife appealed to PayPal for a refund. She furnished PayPal with all available documentation. After 6 weeks she was informed via PayPal web site her appeal was denied. We are out $111 without any reasonable explanation and appeals are not permitted. PayPal did not follow-up with a phone call to our local post office to verify what my wife provided to them. Why?

Call centre
October 16, 2019

Would have given them no stars if possible, Indian call centre, all they do is send you generic answers and do not actually read what your concern is, 30 minute call the first time and told it was being sorted, told i would get an e-mail once it had been fixed by the technical team, 2nd phone call 40 minutes (on hold most of the time), eventually got through to a manager, what a joke he was, if hes a manger then i am Boris Johnson, absolutely fuming, PAYPAL get a grip and employe people who are trained to do the job

Do not use
May 5, 2022

I do not use PayPal to bill people. I would not use it. But on occasion I have to use PayPal to pay bills/statements I get from other vendors. First they have people who do not speak English asking you security questions they cannot pronounce! Good Luck on that. Second, their questions are stupid. They asked about cars I may have leased in the past --to me that means rental cars and I do not recall the make, model, of every rental car I have used in the past. One non-English speaking lady was asking which of the following cars I have owned in the past --then half way thru the list admitted she could not pronounce the names of some of the car models! One tricky questions is which of the following "other" names have you been called in the past. Name #3 is your current first name. But you had better answer "None of the Above." Because this is not an "other" name you have been called. It is a name you are currently called! I asked to have an English speaking person talk to me --after a 3-5 minute wait a non English speaking male took over for the female I could not understand. After I could not understand him he suggested I might want to open a new account! I told all my vendors to use some other service besides PayPal to bill me. (One vendor got back to me and said guess what? They had not billed me anyway! Now he wondered how many times PayPal did that with other customers!)

After a dispute with seller which was paid via paypal.com I contacted paypal.com to get my money back for the postal fee taken for cancelled mercandise. A lot of evidence was uploaded to the paypal.com site where the seller in fact admits that all the postal fee isn't paid back for the cancelled parts. It seems for me that the case proceedings wasn't to proffesional and they jumped to conclusions after some minutes even with 35 pages with attachment. I don't think they even read it!

The final answer to this from paypal is that I got some of the money back, anyway postal fees was not covered by the buyers protection program so they couldn't help me! I cancelled my paypal.com account immediatly!

In addition is it cheaper to let VISA do the transaction between currencies than using paypal.com.

There are a lot of mixed feelings when it comes to this website. I am on the fence about them. PROS - 1. The merchant doesn't get your credit card number/information so you won't get a surprise on your next credit card statement. 2. Paypal will look into resolving any issues with non-receipt items or item not as described (I've gotten back full refunds on a lot of items I was duped into buying mainly fraudulent sites.) 3. You can pay from either credit card or bank card. NOW the CONS - 1. FEES! Conversion rates will always be a bit off because that's one of the ways paypal makes money 2. You have to have $150 or more inorder NOT to be charged a withdrawl fee. 3. The process for determining the winner in a dispute can take upto 1 month maybe 2 so that means you'll have to wait so long to get back your money if you're lucky. All in all Paypal is pretty decent compared to some of the other sites out there and if you're smart you can use their site without being charged too much (just read their policies).

PAID FOR GOODS WITH PAYPAL. Goods were not fit for purpose (they were chinese crap from sammydress). Paypal refuse to give me my money back as I did not return goods. I maintained that the seller should have sent a prepaid label and goods would be returned at no more cost to me.

I love Paypal
November 21, 2012

I love Paypal. It's just so convenient for me and my customers. As a freelancer, it's the easiest way to get paid. I wish the charges were a little lower, but I can live with it for the convenience.

Paypal stole my money
March 29, 2020

Paypal doesn't care about your money. Their security sucks and when someone hacks your account and steals over $2000 from you they say it was nothing suspicious and just let your money go

Today I will make my last repayment to Paypal Credit and then I will close my account FOREVER. I have noticed my balance was incorrect, it shows I owe £132.31 when it should be £103.25. I have called Paypal customer service and the agent hanged up on me when I was not even losing my temper nor being rude. This I swear and that's the reason I decided to post this review. He was telling me the balance was correct and I was explaining to him that it was not because I got refunds for such amount and I made payments for such amount. He just hanged up. Basically I purchased for a total of £997.78 as purchases listed on the account, I received various refunds for a total of £322 and made several payments for £572.53 which means the balance should be £103.25. I verified it in three different ways and I had no late payment charge. The agent told me they allocated the amount I paid and the amount refunded by the retailer outlet in a way to avoid me any charge but still if you work out what I purchased, what was refunded and what I repaid, I should still get to £103.25. So Paypal Credit are thieves or their customer service is so bad that they don't check what they are doing. Goodbye!

Where do I start?
May 11, 2012

Where do I start?

The unexplained limited accounts?

My frozen money that they have?

The disgusting call service, including getting hung up on and saying to me that PayPal don't want me and never will?

The stories I've read when I have turned into a disgruntled customer?
'paypal sucks.com' and 'screw paypal.com' (regular people losing thousands and thousands of dollars for no reason)

I have been a customer for years, no problems. Changed my account details (address) and day later limited account, I rang them, got disgusting service, 10 minutes later account frozen, lost over a thousand dollars.

Tried to start a LEGIT eBay store, selling random items from kids toys to lights to common household items. I sell 3 things, receive payment for 2 and 1 got limited. My customer asks why I'm late to send item, I say accounts been frozen, money hasn't come in. I send item anyway, thinking it wr be ok. Talk to PayPal, frozen account, money didn't come in, money went back to customer with my items sent. I don't care about sending my items, the point I'm making is that PayPal couldn't care less that your trying to run a business where your trying to make your customers happy. They just get involved, take your money and be $#*!s on the phone.

Absolutely disgusting.

If they don't improve, more of the general public will soon be ripped off by them and then soon enough people will find an alternative and see you later payFraud.

They are a sh***y $#*! company I filed a dispute back on May 30th 2020, i gave them proof from the post office that I never received my item. I was told that the dispute would be resolved on July 4th and guess what July 4th came and went and now they are tell me that it's going to take longer to resolve this. And they keep pushing back the date instead of just giving me my money back. DONT TRUST THEM THE DONT HONOR THEIR BUYERS PROTECTION THAT THEY CLAIM TO HAVE!

I have had a PayPal account for over 5 years. Up until recently I never experienced a problem. Within the last several days I noticed on my account 2 charges that reflected the vendor GrubHub. I have never used Grubhub. One of the charges had been made within 12 hours of me noticing the unauthorized charge I immediately notified PayPal via its website that these GrubHub were unauthorized. I also called PayPal but due to the corona virus the customer call center was closed. Within 5 hours I received a response email from PayPal that stated in part "We have reviewed this transaction(s) and are denying you case(s). This decision was made because this transaction was not unauthorized."

I had linked to my PayPal account a Capital One Credit Card. I notified Capital One of the problem and it immediately credited back my account. This incident proved that it is safer to simply use a credit card and NOT PayPal. PayPal does not protect the user in a case of fraud. If you are going to use PayPal I would advise against linking your checking to Paypal. At least, with a credit card you have some protection. Capital One protected me PayPal failed to.
