Charges in USD (despite booking from and for a Canadian Hotel) but don't show it until you get a receipt. Also received a fishing scam call shortly after booking from an Expedia affiliate (reservations.com is an affiliate for them) and they had all of my booking information but kept trying to get more information out of me like my full address and credit info.
Called their support about it and the rep kept calling me by a different name and being totally unhelpful, and rude and refusing to look into why my data was shared with a third party or where the security breach occurred. He even told me "We don't contact clients back about this sort of thing".
They did keep offering to cancel my booking which is no help because the bookings are non-refundable.
WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE EVER. NEVER USE reservations.com
** Update**
So right after posting this I was contacted by Jonathan from reservations.com customer support. They offered me a full refund if I would remove my reviews. As my trip was in 2 days I could not get a new hotel room (they were all booked up for the long weekend). I made that issue very clear and Jonathan communicated to me that they would keep the booking and refund the full amount and that they would look into how and why my information was available to third party groups.
I was so very happy to have such quick action and have such a generous offer. I confirmed that the booking was still in place with both the support team and the hotel and went on my trip.
It has been almost a month and no-refund has been issued. Emails to the support team keep getting escalated to no-where and I am sure at this point that the offer of a refund was just another scam in order to get me to remove this review.
The other support managers that promised me a response within 10 business days over my initial concerns with the phishing phone calls have never appeared. These people do not care.
They will tell you it's the last room when it's a total lie. Customer service will hang up on you when you try to get a refund.
Unfortunately, Google allows fake web sites such as this to be the first site listed when you search for SpringHill Suites. It looks as though you are on the SpringHill Suite web site but listed on a side display (which I tend to to overlook as this is generally where adds are displayed) is a breakdown of charges which includes a service fee for booking of $19.99 and other miscellaneous fees. So - a $114.00 room turns into over $161.00
I called to cancel the reservation and got the most rude customer service representative in India that I have ever encountered. He repeatedly told me what I could clearly see on the web site and that I knew what I was booking. Note to customer service reps - don't ever tell a customer what they can see or what they should know. Customer service 101 first day lessons should teach that basic courtesy etiquette.
I often book hotels online and in an effort to avoid ever encountering this site again, I found the following search solution to remove reservations.com (or any other company you wish to exclude) from the search engine:
After typing your search terms (the name of your hotel), add the following
-site: website_reservations.com
I tested it and it works to remove this terrible company from populating the site list.
I will be able to avoid paying any money to this fraudulent web site thanks to my credit card policies, but wanted to warn others to beware of reservations.com and avoid using them.
Also, shame on Google for their search engine policies. These sites are constantly updated to appear to be legitimate sites of the business you are looking for, and are even allowing redirection links to these sites. If any lawyers who may read this want to start a class action law suit against Google for allowing these sites to use the name of the company being searched in their misleading URL and web site header, and for giving them first placement in their search optimization engine; I would be happy to work with you!
Can't change reservations. Can't cancel reservations without paying 1 nights fee even though prepaid
I could not cancel my reservation and I found the same room for $100 cheaper on another site. Never use this site for booking your rooms.
I had to turn around and go back home due to emergency and they would not refund or give a coupon. They didn't show any consideration to me at all.
I went to Hilton Hotel - Baltimore website and used the reservation phone number provided. I had a "Be My Guest" certificate for any Hilton hotel and informed the rep. That I would be using it for one night at the hotel. He supposedly checked with his supervisor to make sure it would be OK and came back to inform me it would be used for the reservation. He asked for my credit card information, which I did not think unreasonable since hotel reservations are secured with a credit card. Upon my arrival to the hotel and presenting the certificate, I was informed the room was already paid for with my credit card. Attempts at calling the phone numbers listed, *******449 and *******342, only confirmed that they, in truth, were not Baltimore Hilton Hotel reservations. After speaking with one of the guest services representatives at the hotel and providing information on the fraudulent website information, the hotel representative went to the internet himself, found site, called the number and identified himself as the Guest Services Rep. For Hilton-Baltimore. The last I heard, Reservations.Com was to reimburse the Hilton - Baltimore $252.83, which I was charged and I was to report the fraudulent charge to my Credit Card company, which I did. My card is being cancelled and replaced, the charges are being reimbursed to my account. Reservations.com has infiltrated many other hotel websites, not informing victims that they are actually a third party reservation site, not the actual hotel; any privilege or discount you would otherwise be entitled to (military, senior, points, etc.), you will not receive, and the cost will be larger than that would be paid had you called the hotel directly.
They suck. Reservation made for 3 weeks ahead. Had to cancel on the same night reservation was made. $14.99 NON-REFUNDABLE service fee.
Make sure your dealing with the hotel itself not this middleman scam site. They add their "fee" above the hotel price
They will NOT accept a cancellation! How did we ever call their number when we thought we were calling the hotel?
I like others thought I was booking a stay directly with the Hotel only to find out that I had booked with the wrong Embassy Suites.
I tried to switch my reservation with NO LUCK.
PISSED OFF
MIKE K
This company is the worst, it say there is only a 37 DOLLAR cancel fee. But when you book it it turns into a non-REFUNDABLE.
THEY TRICK YOU AND TAKE ALL YOUR MONEY
I want to go on a mini vacation for my birthday to catalina Island California since live in California its no that far so i call the holiday Inn thinking i was talking to an agent from there so I booked a double queen room for three people for 301.01 per day × 3 days and 194.00 tax since its getting close to time of the vacation once I booked the trip that the agent tells me that he's from resevation desk. Com I was furious and I asked him to transfer me to the dept that cancel resevation he transferred me i talked to a lady name Rachel she said that they would take a fee out of the money I gave them and return the rest but than talked me into keeping the resevation and giving them a chance this was on August 13th today I called the holiday inn to check on the resevation when I did the two queen size bed for 3 occupants where now aa standard size bed with 2 occupants i immediately called reservation. Com back to cancel i spoke to Alex who left me on hold for 45 mins while I was at work after he found out I wanted to cancel I hung up and called again I than spoke to Jose whom seem sympathetic to what I was going thru he also left me on the line for an hour nothing was resolved because they didn't want me to cancel I want my money back plus my birthday is coming up fast and now I'm out of alot of money for something I didn't reserve
I thought I was dealing directly with the Hotel I wanted to book - it even had hotel logo on web page. I booked, and thought I would not be paying for the hotel until I checked in, I understood I could cancel free of charge up to a certain date. (I was booking this hotel about a month in advance.) I cancelled the hotel two days after booking as my appointment in the city was cancelled.
I looked at my credit card statement and saw my card was charged the $14.99(USD)(which I now see was the cost of doing a booking). Two days later another bill for $300.14 USD. I live in Canada, booked a Canadian hotel - rate was quoted in Canadian dollars, Reservations.com had converted rates to US - then converted back to Canadian dollar and I was being charged about 30% more for a reservation which I had cancelled.
I called the hotel, they had no record of the reservation and no payment from Reservation.com. IT IS NOW 10 DAYS SINCE I DID THIS - AND MY CREDIT CARD HAS NEVER BEEN REFUNDED.
BEWARE OF "RESERVATIONS.COM" IT IS A SCAM!
Don' t use this site and be careful when booking. They sneak in and purport to be the actual hotel. Overcharge and refuse to cancel. A huge RIP off!
Here's the point form version
- called the number online as offered 50% off
- once called, no such discount existed
- quoted in Canadian dollars and booked hotel
- charged in US dollars
- called to et a refund for the difference and was told to call my bank for a refund
- spoke to the supervisor Jade who was rude and eventually advised would listen to the call but also offered a full cancellation and refund
- I needed the room so waited for the call back
- no call back for 5 days
- I called and spoke with another supervisor asking for the cancellation and refund at this point and was told no such notes existed on file and they would not do that as they needed to check with the hotel first and listen to the call
- no call again although promised a call in 24 hours
- called and spoke with the manager Larry who would not make the exception
- manager promised a call back in 15 minutes from the escalation team
- Im still waiting for this call
- regardless if they call back or not, I would never use this site again - everyone refuses to use common sense or customer service
Avoid yourself aggravation and book somewhere else.
We made the mistake of not checking with the hotel website.
Big mistake because we could have saved about $15 for a one night stay.
Answer: Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. You may have to cancel your card and get a new card and card number, but it's worth it.
Answer: Impossible to get money back. They're just scumbags!
Answer: Yes, this company charges a fee, which it will not refund even if you cancel your reservation within minutes!

Answer: It can be, if its refundable reservation. Every reservations has a different cancelation policy. Mostly last minute reservations are not cancelable.
Answer: My experience is the same. reservations.com obviously nails a lot of unsuspecting Canadians this way. They don't make any attempt to help you out when they are confronted by this way of hosing us. Its a sleazy organization.
Answer: Hello Brodie, We have sent you an email this morning regarding your concerns. Please email us directly so we may assist you. Sincerely, Customer Support Reservations.com
Answer: Yes, you were billed. Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. Your company should remove it, send you a new card and assign you a new card number.
