Out of 7 items that were purchased. 6 arrived broken. Don't order any glass or stoneware. Strange the items come from different states and wrapped all the same way poorly. No protection between the items. So if you got stoneware with a lid. They will break each other because very thin layer packed between them if plastic wrap. Box way too large for items. So they just bounce around inside. Breaking! Not enough wrap around items. Wrap on top but none on bottom. No fragile sticker. They have no training. They don't care. The items didn't cost them anything, so why would they?
FedEx and Goodwill are the worst $#*!ing companies. One doesn't know how to pack an item for shipping and the other apparently delivers your package by dribbling it like a basketball across the country.
Buyer Beware
Every item that has been purchased did not work. Every textile we ordered was ripped or so badly stained we had to trash them all. The pictures they provide are bad. Send wrong items. Estimate shipping for a blanket was $80.00.
Customer Service is really bad. I've contacted their HG and they don't care.
There are no items to purchase locally anymore. Don't know what they are giving back to the community these days.
We did not order this item - sent us trash - we never got the original item. Fought to get a refund. They told us we did the damage.
The Shopgoodwill website is broken. Auction winners are not being notified about their winning bid after the auctions end. There is no request for payment.
This has now happened to me four times. I receive other emails from the website, but not any notification of winning. I checked my spam folder, too.
I know that I won only if I go back and check my account. However, if I assume a winning notification will be sent, it never comes. I have now won four times without being notified.
I reported the problem to Shopgoodwill support and was completely ignored. The responses appear automated. When I requested a supervisor or contact by the website developer, I was ignored.
I have used this website for 10 years. I understand it is for charity, but even charities need to operate like a real business. An important function of the auction website is not working and there is no one who will respond or fix it.
It seems a complete scam, and rip off to the public,,, shipping rates and they tax my entire Oder including shipping and handling fee,,, never again, that's site is a scammer paradise, inside trading, misleading and general poor service
Tempting, so very tempting! There is a lot of good stuff to look at but once you add shipping and handling plus the downright irrational bidding that happens most items end up being expensive. Why pay ‘ handling' if it takes 8 plus days to get your item shipped anyhow? A few times when I thought I'd actually catch a deal I was outbid at the last moment only to see the item re- listed... in the spirit of ‘donating' to community efforts this all could pass if only goodwill had a decent overhead cost ratio, which they don't. So, maybe not such a great place to spend your money and if you feel like donating you might as well pick a favorite charity and give directly to them!
It's great once you find a few reputable shops and primarily but from them. I always check the handling and shipping fees before placing bids, sometimes they are over the top and scam money that way. Best ways to buy is buying bulk lots, less known but expansive brands, and buying several lots from the same store to combine shipping (but make sure the store allows this). Also be careful by checking the pictures closely, I purchased a coach purse in "new" condition that smelled and had a large stain at the bottom. I went back and saw they didn't show the bottom of the bag in the picture. On the other hand, I bought a gorgeous like new condition Dooney and Bourke leather bag for a total of $20, from the same store. So basically you either get lucky or not.
So far, I've gotten everything shipped to me in good condition, all items came intact and packaged well. Shipping and handling prices can be really high at times, which is my main complaint about this site. I buy from their one cent shipping section to avoid having to pay the overpriced shipping/ handling. Overall, the shopping experience is decent.
I've spent probably $500 on this site because you can find some very rare items for a good price. The caveat is, as others have noticed, that the shipping is easily twice what the cost should be. Also, beware of getting into bidding wars. The user can't view the maximum bid for an item, so when entering what is said to be the minimum bid you are likely to be told you have been outbid several times before you are finally granted the highest bid.
It is also suspect that many collectible items (video games, rare toys and board games) will be bid up higher than the worth of the item - especially when factoring in $20 or more in shipping. Whether this is done by Goodwill employees or uneducated shoppers, I do not know.
Really watch your check out receipts because it appears to be regular practice to charge obscene shipping charges and by that I mean an item posted as 2 pounds on bidder page suddenly became 33 pounds at check out and it keeps happening over and over again. If you contact the store they will correct it but it happens so much I have to believe it is intentional and making them lots and lots of extra money when people check out without looking, shame on you Goodwill. Good stuff bad shipping.
Answer: It did not get lost they did not get the price they wanted for the said item so it's lost they will wait for a while and realist it under a different item number and raise the shipping price and bid price with the auto bods so they can get a higher price for the item
Answer: Well look at the salary of their CEO vs. The salary of the Salvation Army's CEO. That will tell you what kind of "non-profit" it is.
Answer: If buyer got to leave their personal experiences with this company, they wouldn't exist in a year. They aren't going to risk that. Only honest sellers want their information posted for everyone to see. So don't expect it from Goodwill.
Answer: If you aren't using paypal or a credit card, there isn't much recourse. With paypal, the seller has to prove you received the item. If they can't, you will get your money back.
