First of all, let me say that I like (or liked, since I'm not a member anymore) a lot of the items sold at Thrive Market, and they have very good prices. I am missing the Thrive brand coconut flakes cereal, I got really addicted to that when I was a member.
I haven't experienced as much of the negative stuff as other reviewers, although I did experience some - like getting an unexpected charge or something when i first joined. I got it resolved, but it was kind of a hassle.
The main thing i don't like is the membership fee. It is pretty high for what you get. So it is a bummer when renew time comes around and it is, Ouch! Sixty dollars!
I think it is overpriced, personally. One reviewer mentioned that is is plainly disclosed that there is a membership fee. I don't deny that, but I still don't like it.
I feel like I am being gouged for being a loyal customer and spending a lot of money at their store.
Some say that other places charge a membership fee too, namely Costco and Amazon. I don't think the these are valid comparisons, because with those two, you get vastly more benefits than just a good selection of products for a good price.
For one, you can shop at Amazon even if you don't buy Prime. But if you do join, you get loads of stuff like Prime Video and fast free shipping. With Costco, you get better warranties and you can return things easily if you don't like them. If you get the higher cost membership, too, you can earn that cost back, so the membership can pay for itself (not just in lower grocery costs, which is supposedly how you get paid back your fee at Thrive).
The prices are very good, in general, at Thrive. But in my opinion, it would be much better if they raised the prices slightly and eliminated the membership fee, so you wouldn't have the feeling that you are not appreciated as a customer and that you are getting slightly ripped off for shopping there.

Are you people all MORONS? Thrive VERY CLEARLY STATES that there is annual membership fee. Do you morons just blindly sign up for every "offer" that comes along, or do you actually READ what you are getting into? Myself, and three other friends/family members all do Thrive, and none of us missed that very important point, the fact that there is a membership fee. DUUUUHHH!
As far as Thrive itself, I find the membership fee to be totally worth it. Their prices are almost always better than Whole Foods, I wait until I have at least $49 worth of merch to buy so my shipping is free, and I ALWAYS wait until there are "freebies" with my order. Which isn't that difficult, since they send me a "freebie" or "bogo" email about 3-4 times a week. Last time I ordered from them, I got $17 dollars worth of freebies for only spending $59 dollars.
I really feel that these reviews are unfair. Most of you aren't negatively rating Thrive AS A SERVICE, but instead you're blaming your own ignorance on Thrive. You're giving Thrive a one-star rating because YOU can't figure out how the world works. Pull your heads out of your@$$$ and READ THE FINE PRINT FOR ONCE! Un flipping believable!

I was intrigued by Thrive Market because they had a lot of options I was not able to find locally. For me I did not find it to be a 'bait and switch' because they made it very clear that their website had a membership. Even when they partner with influencers the influencer DOES bring up that it is a subscription service on top of the fact that you are buying goods from them. For this I feel like some of the complaints that they have received here have been unwarranted because they are due to a consumer not fully understanding what they are signing up for - which is not the fault of the company as they make it clear during check out, on their website, on their subscription tab on your account that is a subscription service much like Hulu or Netflix - but with organic food.
I was happy to buy products from their website at a much more reasonable price but for me I could not afford a $60 membership fee on top of that the things I would be buying from their website would not be too often.
My issue that I had with them was when I tried to cancel my account. I explained that I was happy with the service but at this point in my life I couldn't afford to keep the subscription. The representative on the 24 hour chat then tried to say 'oh, you have two more opportunities to get 20% off your order!' and again I let them know that I would not be able to afford the subscription at this time. Then the representative tried to tell me about all the 'new things Thrive Market is doing and that I'd be missing out!'
My issue was that instead of just immediately accepting what I had asked of them they tried to continue to push me into a service that I decided I did not want. Before this exchange I would've possibly come back to Thrive Market because it is very paleo/organic friendly and offers things that otherwise I would not be able to find in my area. I believe that Thrive Market representatives have to follow a script for these sort of exchanges and I really wish they didn't. I didn't like feeling pressured to stay with a service I just wanted to cancel. So please Thrive Market - make it easy on your members to cancel and maybe the chance of them coming back will be higher.
