I thought Thrive was great... But then they tried to kill me. I asked, before ordering, if they could tell me where the vinegar in their ketchup was derived from. I have a fairly serious corn allergy, so I needed to know. I was told it was derived from cane sugar. I was elated because it's difficult to find. I ordered 6 bottles. But I kept reacting to something in my diet and contacted them again for confirmation. I waited 18 days with no response. So I did an elimination and was pretty certain the ketchup was the culprit. After having a bad reaction, requiring the use of my inhaler and corn-free compounded Benadryl, I chatted with them and was told they had researched it and the vinegar is from corn! They refused to refund me because it's been over 7 days since I ordered and then refused to cancel my trial which was set to end in 6 days. Once I mentioned contacting the BBB they cancelled. Do they not realize how serious food allergies are? Thankfully I didn't have to go to the ER or use my EpiPen, but they didn't even seem to care how serious of an offence this was.

I know that times have been tough during COVID. But I placed an order early March--before things were even really bad. I knew there would be delays. However, my order was listed as being shipped but when I checked the tracking it just kept saying "a shipping label has been created". This was going on for 4+ weeks. I reached out multiple times to customer service. One assured me the order was still active and would be coming soon. The next told me the order would have to be re-fulfilled and sent again. She was supposed to do that but I later found out she didn't. A third agent ALSO told me it would be coming. False. Finally, a fourth agent told me that the 2nd and 3rd agents had never re-fulfilled the order and at this time, 2 of my 20 items were available. I know things are busy but multiple people dropped the ball here... multiple times.
Also, this is a minor point, but today, I tried to order (because the map on their own website said I should be able to order in my state), but I could not place an order. Customer service told me that the warehouse was closed---even though their "up to date website" told me it should be open.
Also their prices are not that good.
Do NOT recommend.

Thank you for reaching out. We're so sorry to hear this was your experience. We never want our members to have to reach out multiple times to resolve an issue and the fact that we dropped the ball is not acceptable. We will be happy to pass this along to the appropriate team and if a review was left after you contacted us, it will be reviewed as well.

It can be a real challenge finding vegan and gluten free foods when living in a very rural area, but Thrive Market has solved that problem for me. I'm keeping close watch on the prices of what I buy, and Thrive really has come in cheaper on almost everything-equal on the few things it doesn't blow out of the water. Regarding the website, I love the easy to use info panel that tells me exactly what I need to know regarding the nutritional values and ingredients of each product, and the filters allow me to filter out everything not vegan and gluten free so shopping is quick and easy. The shipping is so fast, I can order Friday afternoon and have my order Monday, or Saturday and have it Tuesday. The orders come packed in easy to recycle (or craft with!) brown kraft paper. NO PLASTIC. For the doubters-Here's one example of the savings for me: Schar bread locally: $6.29 a loaf. On Thrive: $4.99 a loaf. And San-J tamari! A 20 oz bottle is cheaper on Thrive than a 12 oz bottle in my local grocery stores. Plus Thrive carries a huge selection of my favorite Banza Pastas, a buck thirty a package cheaper than locally. Yes, I love Thrive Market and I want everyone to know about it.

I was curious to try this service, I live rurally and access to healthy options is limited. After recieving my first shipment, I will be cancelling membership and will not order again. The amount of redundant plastic packaging in shipments is absolutely horrid and unsustainable, going against the proposed mission of this company. I feel this is model of food access is a scam on "sustainable" options and its exactly the kind of GREEN WASHING i'm so tired of seeing people fall for. I will from now on just continue the biweekly trips to the nearest town with healthy options, that I can take home in reusable bags, and actually reduce my impact on this earth. Thrive market is a continuation of HUMAN AND PLASTIC CONTAMINATION OF EARTH

Thank you for reaching out. As a carbon-neutral company, we do everything we can to ensure carbon-neutrality and sustainability. We use plastic, food-safe, bags for specific products that could be damaged in transit. The impact of the bags is far less than reordering and reshipping a product or order due to any damage that may occur. With that said, we are always looking and testing other packaging that could eliminate the use of plastic bags, which we hope to probide in the future.

They charge a membership and claim that each item is discounted. I price checked and can get the same items from the grocery store at what Thrive calls discounted' price. The items aren't discounted.

I really like Thrive. They have a lot of products I have a hard time finding at physical stores, and at the very least I am currently looking to go to the store less, so it helps that they have a lot of dry goods that I know are sustainably sourced.
However! The quantities that Thrive has of some basics (at least at the moment, given this is during the pandemic) are not sufficient. I imagine this will improve, but I would like to be able to order some staples that I currently cannot because they are sold out.
Pricing is typical for health foods stores. If you are not prepared for your small-producer healthy snacks to cost more than your generic cheez puffs then you're shopping at the wrong place. Thrive has vegan gluten free cheez puffs in case you were wondering.
Thrive also has options to order bulk proteis or even meals. But I find these to be expensive and not flexible enough for my small scale needs. I would like it if they offered smaller scale protein purchases. Then I really wouldn't have to go to the store!

I decided to try Thrive Market out. My husband just found out he has a bunch of food allergies and we are visiting my parents in another state for Thanksgiving. Since he has special requirements I have asked them to make certain recipes for food he can eat... dairy free, egg free, gluten free, etc. Instead of making them hunt down the items for things they wouldn't normally buy and probably won't use again, I subscribed to Thrive and found the items there and had them shipped straight to their house. When the items shipped I got an email saying all of a sudden one item was out of stock and that they were giving me a refund on a gift card. I reached out to customer service to see if they could just sub a different brand to send out. They refused because the other items already shipped and they said they don't just send one item out because of their sustainability rules. I told them it was really purring me in a bind and reasons why. I also suggested that in the future they should offer substitutions to avoid this happening. They didn't seem to care or want to help so I asked that my money be refunded to my credit card not a gift car. D Also that they cancel my membership. Well, my membership didn't get caneeled. So I had to call again today and ask for my membership to be canceled. Also, I didn't notice any savings shopping on this site. The pricing seemed to be the same as my local grocery store. I spend $50 on ingredients to make a chocolate pie. Therefore I don't recommend using this site.

Hi Heather- I apologize for the experience. As a carbon neutral company, we try to have as little impact on the environment as possible. That being said, per policy, we did issue you a gift card so you could re-order that item as soon as it was back in stock. We are constantly working to improve our restock time to keep up with our growing catalog.
Each brand we carry provides a manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP). In practice, some retailers will price higher than the MSRP (like local boutiques), while others will price lower. On average, our products are 25-50% below the MSRP, and are cheaper than other retailers 90% of the time. We'll be sending you a private message to further discuss any account concerns you may have.

Extremely slow processing times of 3-5 days on autoship which leads to the grocery order taking 10 +days to recieve. Thrive Market website states a processing time of 12 hours(updated a month ago) which in all the months I have been using Thrive Market autoship, that has rarely happened. If anything they're getting slower because they can get away with it. Products and prices are great when they are in stock, but out of stock items can sometimes be an issue too.

Responding to Thrive Market
It most definitely not out of the ordinary for processing and shipping times to be slow. After over a year of orders, If any thing, it is out of the ordinary for me to receive my items in less then ten days and that is only if I I call customer service and inquire about why it is taking so long to proccess my orders. The customer service rep will almost always say "this is unusual" and when they check on the order they then come back and say "yes, our processing center is on 48 hour processing times thanks for your understanding" That is all I get. No resolution to the problem. This is not just one order I am speaking of this is over a years worth of orders.

Tip for consumers:
Slow processing times, slow shipping, customer service is hit and miss, but even if they are nice they can in no way resolve the issues. Lots of items go out of stock, so be prepared to have to make quick trips to the gocery store. Quality and product prices are amazing, but, I guess you have to be willing to put up with the above issues and regular 10+ days to receive groceries because it doesn't look like they have any incentive to do better with their processing and shipping times.

I bought amazing organic detox supplements for the best prices! Supper happy with it and its wired I just read some of the other views and it said they don't pack well? All of my packages from thrive market are packed very well. Anyways I told them I wanna cancel after I bought a few things and they were like "wait don't go"and I told them how I live in my car most of the time and I don't have any money I just wanted stuff to boost my immune system. And they were like well at least wait till u get ur package, so I did and I was in love so I bought another few things, and after my second purchase I asked to cancel again, and I called and they said no problem. And now it's 2 weeks later and I forgot about it AND I GOT A FREE PACKAGE IN THE MAIL (: (: a goodbye gift! It was the same package as my last one yaay thank you so much! It's so crazy how I thought they would have good reviews online but the reviews for them suck! Maybe they're actually reading them. Anyways when I have a home and steady income I am so gonna have a membership with them.
I really hope they don't charge me money at the end of the month the reviews are strange on here. But they made it pretty clear that my account is closed. I'm glad I had a great experience with them., they have such good cleansing organic supplements

Shady as $#*!. They don't tell you how to cancel, you can't cancel via email, you CAN'T CANCEL THRU THEIR WEBSITE. To cancel on their website you have to log in so it makes you think "yeay im getting somewhere!" nope. They are just layering another layer to decentivize users from proceeding. You log in and the $#*!ing site just says to call a PHONE NUMBER, DURING BUSINESS HOURS. HA! Ultimate decentivize move. Talk about shady! You call the number during business hours and a machine tells you there is a SIXTY MINUTE (one hour) WAIT for a rep. LOL! Their barrier game is STRONG! Most shady $#*! business ever. Press 2 to have them call you back then tell them to board up the shady business and do something not borderline illegal with their lives.

I tried there "free trial" and didn't find their products to be much cheaper so I decided not to pursue a membership (this is not a diss on their product, it might be great for your family). A couple of days ago I noticed an email telling me my card was going to be charged a fee for renewing my membership. I thought crap, "I must not have opted out of membership" and logged on to cancel my membership. There is no place online to cancel your membership, you are forced to call. Im sure when I signed up for the free trial I looked and couldn't find a place to "un-click" and this is how I got to this place. I called today and waited 20min on hold for a person to pick up. They confirmed that I was charged the membership a year ago of $60. I calmly explained that should this money not be immediately refunded, I would be hanging up the phone and reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and then I would proceed to rip them apart on social media causing them more missed money than the cost of my membership. He explained how I needed to cancel back then and there would be no way to refund my money. He suggested I contact my bank to cover the charge! I calmly repeated that I was hanging up the phone, did he want to get me a supervisor or was he OK with me calling the BBB? He put me on hold for less than five minutes and promptly refunded my money. So. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Very bad business practice not to let people opt-out of your program online. Just saying...
