I can't believe how they don't explain things correctly and feel they have the right to charge your credit card whenever and how much they want. From promissory note fees to mini storage fee's when you don't even have a storage or ever had one. Rented a 1 day truck and have been charged $114 $21 & $51 on 3 different dates. Trying to dispute it has been another battle. Horrible company
We are unwilling to work with you even when you're going through problems they make it impossible to catch up on your bills so they can just basically steal your stuff and keep it. Haven't talked to one person that treats customers with respect in this company.
Rent your truck from anywhere but uhaul.
Dishonest company. Sent us an hour away to get the truck but was last minute on long distance move so we were screwed and had no choice. Promised a bunch of discounts to coerce us onto continuing with uhaul but we never got the discounts. Put 200 bucks in truck and gas gauge never moved. The do of location was awesome but the big company of uhaul is absolute crap. I booked way in advance for the moving truck and yet mysteriously they were just waiting to see if maybe one might just pop-up in my location prior to the need they male no effort to move trucks where they are actually needed. What a scam. Move everything in a wheelbarrow rather than deal with uhaul. Chasing promised discounts we shall see if I ever get them. But why should I be still chasing the bill of my moving truck weeks after my move? Just bull
They are completely incompetent now that they use computer controlled customer service. Which is no service at all. They will make an appointment for you to pick up your equipment but most of the time it is not there and you may have to drive many miles to another town to pick it up. Then the drop off can be the same thing. Today I had to wait, in the yard, a half hour to drop off the trailer and they didn't enemies help me disconnect. There are no tongue jacks on the cheap trailers. So I had to lift that heavy trailer off the ball myself. I'm 65yrs old, so that was painful and I'm still in pain an hour later. They advertise prices that have no reflection of the huge price that they actually charge you. Use Penske, they are up front about the big money that they ask for. They don't hide it like U-Haul. U-load and U-unload. And U-pay out lots of money. Should be called U-Rip-off.
Horrible experience! I purchased a flatbed truck that broke down eight miles from the dealer. Uhaul refused to make repairs under the implied warranty law of Washington State saying that they had given me an AS IS disclosure so it was exempt. I never received that disclosure, but even if I did, the law specifically states that such a disclosure is not sufficient to waive the implied warranty law. The wires to the starter were frayed, and there were other electrical issues. The salesperson also tried to sell me a 2005 truck that was missing a catalytic converter and was illegal to drive on the road. If Uhaul wants to maintain a good reputation, then they should sell trucks in better condition, and stand behind their sales.
I had so so so many problems from getting the truck to dropping it off and they overcharged me. Currently on hold for the 6th time to rent ONE truck that was rented almost a week ago and returned. Penske has some great truck rental options. Try there first
One of the worst services I have ever had. They gave me a truck with a bad battery. After loading the truck, I realized that the engine did not start at all. I had to call roadside assistance to replace the battery which caused me extra labor costs and a lot of inconveniences. I reported this to the store when returning the truck and they gave me the manager's number so that I call her instead of the store agent informing the manager. However, the manager never picks up calls, and even she doesn't have the courtesy to respond to my texts. They should inspect the vehicle before renting which they didn't do. I called the store again and they told me the manager is busy, so I need to keep calling her. The staffs are totally irresponsible and unprofessional. I can't imagine any worse experience with such a big company.
Rented a U-Haul to move my son's family stuff to new house. The truck leaked. All of his stuff got wet. Complained and was told they don't guarantee the truck won't leak. I already had 3 pick ups available. I only rented because it was going to rain and I didn't want my son's belongings wet. Spoke to customer service and they done nothing. So I ended up paying outrageous prices only to get everything wet. Will not ever use them again and have told all my family and friends about my experience with the company. Gave them a 1 because I had to put something or it would not let me submit my review.
This pathetic company told me to return it with at least a 1/4 tank, because last driver didn't. Not only did last driver not do it but the gas light was on! I returned it with a full 1/2 tank of gas (at least $60). Then you have the audacity to ask me to pay $21 in tolls? This is the pettiness of this company. (See picture below of how I returned it)
Scheduling manager for my reservation assured me I could pick up a truck at the scheduled time. This was incorrect as the business opened 1 hour past the scheduled time. They then changed the time of my reservation to reflect the businesses opening time and did not tell me. Trying to be sneaky. When I called back they said I can do 24/7 pickup. When I tried to do this it was not an option for the business. Basically just gave me a bunch of wrong information and turn the whole ordeal into a massive headache and inconvenience as I had people lined up to help with the move.
Reserved a truck for this weekend several weeks ago and was told at the point of sale that they would have a truck for me.
Called me less than 48 hours before I'm supposed to pick up the truck and tell me that they don't have any for me.
Then the individual on the phone has the audacity to give me attitude.
No offers to reduce the price of shipping with a pod that will take 3 weeks to get to its destination, no assurance that they will look into preventing this in the future.
Thankfully I was able to reserve a moving truck last minute with Penske.
I would recommend penske to anyone who is considering using u-haul.
I have been charged two extra times for my rental. Save yourself the headache and us another company. They do not answer call or live chats. This company is a complete joke. I wish I would have done my homework better. So I am at fault for putting my trust in U-haul. Do yourself a favor do not use U-Haul.
This is the Worst Service I have ever received! Not recommended at all!... they are making me go for all BC to pick up the truck and drop it off... I hope they don't count those kilometers. Never been so disappointed in my life. Moving is already stressful, imaging now to plan the logistics and extra money just to get the Truck!. This is unbelievable.
Absolutely awful. Made a reservation and they didn't have the truck when I went to pick it up. The local staff were nice, but the central office person scolded me and raised her voice, telling me that I had a truck request, not a reservation. The email that I had said it was a reservation. And when I reserved it on the phone, no one gave me any disclaimer saying that it was a request rather than a reservation. Apparently the truck broke down. I had paid movers ready to work the next day. The local staff found me a smaller truck, and we used that. So, I had to pay the movers for extra hours to make multiple trips rather than one trip. When I told the Hired movers what U-Haul had done and asked them which truck company is good, they said "anyone but U-Haul." So, Penske, Ryder, Dolly, any of the others will get my business in the future.
Made the appointment 5 days in advance. Still did not have the truck I ordered and sent me a town over to get one and they were not open. Had to cancel the whole order because it won't fit my schedule. Wasted gas and 3 hours of the day trying to get straightened out.
Reserved a trailer but modified it to a 10' truck after my original moving plans changed. Was happy to connect with a rep that suggested the truck instead of cancelling the trailer. Two months after, I wanted to check in to see if I can change the pick up date to find out that the locked in rate for $1300 was not reserved. Went through two customer service reps and a scheduler for them to say there are no notes on my account and they can't adjust the price. The new price is $1800. The whole point of reserving in advance was to lock in a cheaper rate. Guess I won't be using U-Haul
I rented a truck and trailer to bring my vehicle and stuff to my home. After bringing my things, I had to return to pickup my other vehicle. I brought the truck and trailer back to the rental place and they charged me an extra fee for long distance. My bill went from around $400 to $1000. They are very secret with fees and unclear with their charges. I advised them I will never use them again and will advise others. They told me that they would work with me and allow me to pay in installments. When I looked at the charges on my card, they had charged the whole thing. I was left in a bind trying to get home and pay for other costs associated with the move. DO NOT USE U-HAUL! Rent a truck from Lowe's or Home Depot, they are much cheaper and won't drain your funds. I will never use them again.
Due to the website failing to recognize my confirmed order, my timeline was backed up as I had to go out for my own supplies. Upon calling in to alert the company that I may not get the truck back in time, I was kept on the phone for over an hour (pressing me for time further) and this highly unprofessional reservations supervisor threatened to call the authorities and claim the truck stolen. I was also charged for 2 days of use when I had the truck in my possession for only 11.5 hours. I am absolutely repulsed by how awful this made my highly stressful moving experience and will be looking elsewhere for future moves. I am happy to give precise details to track that supervisor down and have her held accountable for threatening me and calling me a thief. Please reach out to me. Thank you.
Reserved a truck over a month before the rental date. The day before pickup, we get a call that there's no vehicles for us. Closest one was almost an hour away. We had no choice but to take it. Zero help from the dealer, no help with gas, even though it was 30 miles out of our way.
Don't do business with these people since you can book online and they will not honor the reservation. Instead they will send you hundreds of miles out of your way after you have already traveled 800 plus miles just to get there. They have other equipment that will work but they will charge you over twice the rental rate for it. Complete scam.

Answer: From my experience I've noticed uhaul only allows you to review the pickup and dropped location and generally where I am at least, those folks are great and helpful. The huge conglomerate running the show is at fault but there seems to be no way to easily review them specifically. They screwed me too and I wondered the same. Maybe some folks had a positive experience but I believe you are correct. Negative reviews are definitely being screened out. Sorry you had a crappy move too.
Answer: I did a complaint online and then called but with the same result, they couldn't find me in their system. I need to wait 24 to 72 hours for the manager to investigate.
