I called the customer service hotline one day prior to the pick up date to make sure everything worked out smoothly on the day. Rude shock, my reservation was apparently not confirmed but cancelled instead! Called customer service, who hung up on me like 4 times and one agent put me back on queue. Finally an agent by the name of Pavani Kakarla took my call and was absolutely wonderful! She was the ONLY one who took the time to speak to me and even booked a new uhaul on my behalf! If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have been able to move today! However, it was an Uhaul van which was booked cos it was the only thing available as opposed to my original booking of a truck! It cost me more money cos more than one trip has to be made to move the items at my residence! Nevertheless, I'm grateful to Pavani for providing an exceptional customer service amongst the absolutely disgusting agents who do not care about their customers. They forget who pays for their pay cheque! Disgusted by the overall service of Uhaul! Uhaul, you should monitor the calls more closely and observe the horrible service extended to your customers by your customer care representatives!
They call and cancel 16 hours prior to getting U-Haul. Told me I can go to USA to get one. Lady was rude on phone.
Reserved a u haul for 48 hrs. Got a confirmation text to pick up 26ft truck in Sandy, OR on Wednesday the 27. On Tuesday the 26th a new text came through saying I had to pick up the truck in Oregon City, OR. Thats a problem. The new pick up location adds another 80 miles round trip to my rental at $1.19 a mile. I asked u haul to just bring the truck to original location. They said no these trucks are high demand. No kidding I reserved it 7 days prior. Then I asked them to comp the milage and I said I could make it work. Hard no from u haul. The two agents I talked to tried to make it work for me with no success from the regional manager. So I had to accept a compromise and got a truck for 24 hours. Wont use u haul again as all these independent agents that rent trucks out apparently have different computer systems and can't even get on the same page. As for the regional manager, you'd think they had the power to make things right. But they didn't. There is plenty of other truck rental companies out there. I suggest take your time and get a Penske or any one of the other 5 truck rental companies in oregon. Also I've uploaded my license 4 times and they still keep messaging me to upload it. Just annoyed, moving is already a pain in the butt. I thought a major company like this would have it together. They don't seem to.
Going through Uhaul has been an absolute nightmare. We had our Uboxes delivered and Uhaul gave no direction as to how to handle the transaction with a company they outsourced to. So after we were done unloading the company came and picked up one of the two uboxes. Fay after day they said they would come get the second, every day we have been in contact with Uhual who just refers us back to the company or says they will be there tomorrow and will escalate it soon. After escalating it still nothing has happened and the uboxes have been here for two weeks. Now Uhaul is stating we have to use another company because they don't service the area and since that company was paid, we the consumer have to pay more to get someone to remove these boxes! Not to mention they stated they wouldn't change my card for storage since the company they are doing business with hasn't retrieved the boxes and yet they changed over 200 dollars for storage and won't refund it until they get their boxes back! This is absolutely insane and the worst customer service and product I have dealt with. I cannot express my anger with more reason, I hope everyone stays away from Uhaul and their unprofessional services.
This company charges way to much for the miles you drive and all the fees on top of it. I would not recommend using them. Its outrageous.
By far one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a company. The representative overseeing the process was professional and helped us figure everything out, no complaint there.
The quote we were given was WAY off, we ended up paying a lot more in mileage charges than we were quoted, which is an absolute ripoff… if the vehicle is back on time with the same amount of fuel, there is absolutely no reason on earth to be charging people by the mile. That's pathetic.
Oh, and speaking of gas. That vehicle was a gas guzzler, downing 1/4 of a tank during a very small spell of highway driving. So on top of the ridiculous 19th century mileage calculations, the expenses for the gas were ridiculous given how gluttonous the truck was.
What should've been an easy $500 (maximum) rental ended up costing an unnecessary (and unaffordable) $1000. Thanks for gouging your potential customers, some of which (like myself and my fiancé) are low income as it is and moving to a cheaper place just to make ends meet. Waste of our time and money. Yup, we made the move but now we get to enjoy not eating for another week. Hope you're happy, UHaul, cause that's the first and last bit of money you'll EVER see from us again.
I rented a unit at 7310 CHEF MENTEOR HWY NOLA for years. Yes, I'm a creature of habit & continued 2 pay a $37 fee: I had lots of books & material & boxes of 'MY' junk. The fee jumped 2 $60 when UHAUL took over. Mind you, the entire time, I fed the critters very well with bricks upon bricks of poison from a feed store. Their droppings were the size of my pinkey nail...big poop from big invaders. STAY AWAY!
If you need to use UHAUL'S mobile app basically don't or read the very fine print prior. When it doesn't work then they very happily and I'd say deliberately charge you a late service fee even when you return their truck prior to the time-frame they have slated and in good condition. I was quickly pawned off to Scott, the regional manager for Massachusetts. He has no customer service! He was rude and unprofessional. Without calling me a liar about attempting to complete the mobile ask questions, he basically did! He dismissed me all for $20.00 because I wasn't able to complete it after a very long exhausting day moving. We were able to get the job done, truck back to the drop off location, and the key in the drop-off box. I called girst thing in the morning and I couldn't believe there was no one there for customer support- not the UHAUL person at the location, the regional manager or the two customer support personnel at the corporate office. I'll use another company for my next move. UHAUL has list my business if customer support is not a part of their business. Moving is a stressful time and their lack of support has spoken volumes to me!
Please read until end. I had rental 4 X 8 trailer on 01/11/22. Was stolen with full stuff in it on 01/13/22 reported Police and Uhual with police report no. On 01/013/22.No. P*******. Uhual contract no. *******. Repwest insurance sent me email on 01/17/22 that your insurance is not cover theft. 05/02/22 U hual sent me email regarding due payment $317.61 after I find out from Police who working for my case that trailer was recovered on 01/18/22 and Uhual officer reported on 05/02/22 to them same date I get an email. I talked with Uhual officer on 05/09/22 and she don't have answer why they didn't inform me until 05/02 from 01/18/22. Only she told me to refund my rental fees and she refunded to me, but I ask her money is not important in this case what me & my family suffer for over 100 days is no one can imaging, that could reduce it, if I know by January 18th or 20th. I called U hual customer service so many time they listen me and no answer of my question that why they didn't inform me 3 1/2 month once they recover it, they hang up phone. Customer service say scheduling help you out when I call scheduling they say customer service help you out. That make me write a review today as on 05/26/22. Some one have to look in this matter what really done. Is it trailer really stolen or some thing else, or it's all big plot. Might all stolen trailer were a big scam. For other people awareness I will be put all matter on facebook, waiting for Uhual answer. And request all UHual officer to mind there honest business.
I am an experienced mover - because of my job I move a lot. I have NEVER had such horrible moving experienced. U-Haul is extremely incompetent. Very rude customer service, extremely long wait on the phone to get anyone to speak with you - and I mean OVER ONE HOUR OF WAIT ON THE PHONE, only to get a very rude dismissive customer rep. They booked us with moving helpers with companies that are no longer in business THREE times. When using their pods they were FIVE HOURS LATE to drop off, and wanted to pick up almost 12 hours after they were supposed to. When dropping off the pods to be loaded they insisted on dropping off each of the 4 pods one at a time which made are moving process extremely long, and this is by yet one more incompetent mover they recommended. We have requested a refund for the movers they charged us for which date not even in business anymore. Let's see if we ever get the refund. Save your yourself the headache and DO NOT USE U-HAUL. I can't believe they are still in business.
The people at the Manchester, CT UHaul store on Oakland Ave. Were great, as was the person at the location in Winsted, CT. BUT, what was not made clear at the time of reservation was that although my rentals were guaranteed (a 10' truck and an auto trailer,) the locations of pickup were NOT. The Manchester store was nearby my home and easy to get to. The Winsted location was 40 miles away and I didn't know until the night before that I'd have to go there to get the trailer! It was a big use of time and gas that I didn't anticipate. They increased the mileage allowance on the truck by 60 miles "due to your inconvenience," but I had to call to have them increase that to 80 miles (after a long time on hold) which was the actual additional mileage. Truck itself was fine-clean and ran well-but the tie-downs on the trailer came loose partway through the drive and had to be tightened before continuing. Easy return at Pocono Lake, PA location. Hope I never have to rent from them again. Lost almost 2 hours and extra money for gas because I wasn't told that I'd have to drive to Winsted to get the trailer (can you say boondoocks?) until it was too late to make other plans. "Sorry, we don't have runners to bring equipment to your preferred location" is a very poor excuse given by the scheduler. Renters should be told up front about possibility of having to go somewhere very out of the way to get their rentals.
Rented a 10 foot box truck feom uhaul, i paid for a funiture dolly and for protective sheets. When i got the box, it was empty. So I had to go to a uhaul store and rent tue missing equipments (paid again for it) and then got charged 65$ (CAD) because the fuel was a little bit under the 1/4 (where it was when i took it). They told me they charge me 30$ for fuel and 35$ because it was under a 1/4. They are stealing customer and are not reliable. NEVER WILL I RENT A UHAUL EVER AGAIN. (Ive been charged 343$ plus ~20$ for the equiment rental while my contract said it was going to be 276$)
Houma Louisiana, store. I walked in was the only person in the store one girl at the counter, didn't acknowledge me at all, kept typing on her laptop. I waited two minutes for someone then I proceeded to the other person behind the counter, which he was on his texting on his cell phone. I asked for help with three boxes dimensions that I needed. She said I would have to go find my own boxes that they were all in the middle of the store so I proceeded to do just that. I took down two display boxes to try to find the dimensions and see what I needed. She proceeded to approach me and tell me that I was messing up their displays. I said well if you would've helped me in the first place, I wouldn't have to be doing this myself. I told her I will put your displays back ma'am after I find the boxes I need. She proceeded to put her finger up and walk away like she was going to go report me. I put the boxes back and left the store. I proceeded to udrop, which was a rating of 100+ as compared to U-Haul on -50. When I walked in the door, they said ma'am I'll be right with you and helped me extremely fantastic customer service. I never write a review and complain, but this was over the top. I will never step foot back in UHaul. UDrop is the place for boxes, shipping and supplies!
I drove to pickup my rental and the first location never set up the keys for my pickup so I called Uhaul to make sure I could pickup the vehicle and they said "Sorry, the dealer didn't set it up. Theres nothing i can do. You have to come back". I continued to tell them that i was unable to come back as I had a house closing to attend which is why i chose an early pickup. She said theres no other trucks and she cant help me and said she would give me a $50 credit for my inconvenience. I demanded she needed to find me a new truck in the area as this experience was insane and i needed to move out of my location. She miraclously found a truck 15min further away that i could get.
So i drove to that second location for pickup and when i went to pay My reservation rate significantly changed. My total increased over $800 and i was told that there was nothing i could do, i had to pay that amount in order to leave with the vehicle and take it up with Uhaul. Now I have been chasing down Uhaul for answers and a refund as that was not the rate i agreed to when i made the reservation. If i would've known that, i would have never chose Uhaul as there were cheaper rates elsewhere.
I felt like my hands were tied as I had no choice but to pay that amount as it was for a move and i was closing that day and needed to be out of my house. I had no time to make other accomodations.
I tried placing my order for moving labor for 2 days on Uhauls site. I kept calling MovingHelp directly [Uhaul wouldn't help me at all] and was on hold for at least 20 minutes before giving up. I then went to the MovingHelp website directly and was able to finally book it through their site. HOWEVER. Once I actually booked it, their site changed my address automatically because it is a new-build neighborhood and their system didn't recognize it. I tried to change it on the site and it wouldn't let me. I went ahead and booked the reservation with the incorrect address thinking they could change it on the back end. I use the Live Chat, to avoid being on hold for another 20+ minutes, and they told me they couldn't change the address and to call their phone number or the mover directly. My credit card now has 4 charges showing from them because they kept trying to process the order I submitted that their system wasn't able to process. Seriously. Use their site to find the help you need and read the reviews. Then just call the mover directly. Such a WASTE OF MY TIME.
Paid $400 for helpers n no call no one showed up n now they have my money n I still had to get other help never use this service
Booked a cargo van for moving some items. Reservation was confirmed. When I arrived for my 8 am pickup time I was told that it's not available. My ride had left. At 8:10 I received a call from U-Haul main office telling me that they could not fulfill my reservation because the van was not available. I would have appreciated a call BEFORE my pick up time, especially since I received an "all is good, see you soon" type of email at 7:45 am. Apparently the rest of the fleet that I could see in their parking lot (about 10) were not available either. I was told to Uber myself to another location (which was not convenient for me; that's why I chose the location near me), and pick one up there. I asked if they could drive it to me or if I could drop it off at the location that I had originally booked from. Answer was "no". I told them that dropping off Monday morning before 8 am would not work since there would be LOTS of traffic in that area at that time (would take me 45 mins to get there) AND it was in the complete opposite direction of my work. They told me to drop off at 3 am or whenever I finished. SMH. I ended up having to cancel my reservation since there was nothing for me to drive away with, wait for a ride, and call the person that was going to help me (which I had to pick up with the rented van) to tell them to wait until I could come up with a solution that met my needs. Then I spent almost 1.5 hrs contacting other companies. In the end we had to call it a no-go. Obviously I was upset. I had arranged for childcare, moving help, transportation, and relied on a cargo van (and dolly) from a company that did not follow through on their end of the transaction. What a waste of my time, resources, and energy.
Rented a truck for a move across states. $700+ Got movers through uhaul $300 something. I had a reservation # and paid in full for the truck a 26 foot. When I went to pick up the truck there was none there to be had. But they took my money. The movers were scheduled for 10:30-11am. The truck should have been there at that time. Nope. Still no truck. Unfortunately you can't get anyone on a Saturday on the phone at 1800uhaul who had any way to fix this very big issue. I spent 4 hours in the phone with 1800 uhaul when I should have been moving and on the road. My friend also on the phone for hours found a truck in rincon. I had to send a friend with an Uber $40. She was confronted by a very rude and short employee who was down right rude, even to me over the phone. Now uhaul decided to refund my truck money, but guess what that takes days to show up so I was stuck scrambling to find another $700+ to pay for the truck we could find. Then I had to change the movers. I didn't leave my house until after 6 pm not arriving to my destination until after 3am when I should have arrived around 7pm in time for dinner. Nope, not if your dealing with uhaul. I was lucky to get out of the day I needed to as the new owners are moving in. Uhaul made what should have been a small easy fast moved into a living traumatic nightmare.so right now I'm out well over $1400 for one truck and uhaul is sending me text wanting the truck back 2 days early. I still am waiting on my refund for the first truck.
I reserved a truck from U-Haul on May 6th for an interstate move. I was told a truck would be available, but the company couldn't guarantee it would be delivered to the nearest U-haul, and I may have to drive 10 miles to another location to pick it up. Today (June 3rd), U-Haul calls to tell me there will be no trucks available because they didn't anticipate as many trucks leaving CA. When I told Annie (who said she was the manager but wouldn't give me her last name), she said the truck was never guaranteed. Well, they sure didn't tell us that! They only said the truck wasn't guaranteed to be delivered to our local U-haul and we might have to drive 10 miles to get it. I would have never counted on a company that didn't guarantee their truck! We are less than 2 weeks away from our move and will have to pay an astronomical price to get our stuff moved. When I told Annie this was very bad business practice, and I was going to complain, she said in a very snarky voice, "You do that!" HORRIBLE customer service and unethical company.
Answer: Thought it would be cheaper but worst experience ever and they stole lots of $ from me.
Answer: UHAUL IS CHEATING PEOPLE OUT OF THERE MONEY. OVER CHARGES BY CHEATING YOU. There equipment clearly stated rent me $19.99per day. Not $109. Or $126.61. Per day.
Answer: Scammy. Just try leaving a negative review for uhaul itself (not the little mom n pop pickup/dropouts the big company responsible for the bull)...it's impossible
Answer: From my experience I've noticed uhaul only allows you to review the pickup and dropped location and generally where I am at least, those folks are great and helpful. The huge conglomerate running the show is at fault but there seems to be no way to easily review them specifically. They screwed me too and I wondered the same. Maybe some folks had a positive experience but I believe you are correct. Negative reviews are definitely being screened out. Sorry you had a crappy move too.
Answer: I did a complaint online and then called but with the same result, they couldn't find me in their system. I need to wait 24 to 72 hours for the manager to investigate.
