I used VitalCheck to order a copy of my son's birth certificate. It was easy and fast and I was able to pick up the document the next day. Perfect for my needs! Highly recommend! Will use again if needed.
I ordered July 26,2024. They said it would take roughly 15 days, if not sooner. A month later, I finally checked and they had no status update. Apparently, they themselves have to request a status check, only AFTER you request one, to the county in question. Cook County, Illinois. For another month, I had to wait on status updates and they could not get a hold of them, saying they could only send status checks on Mondays, for whatever reason. I would think a third party website would have their own internal option for checking status. Still no word. I eventually had to request a full refund. How can they not have a better working relationship with one of the biggest counties in the country? And they absolutely did not care either way. If I had needed this immediately, or even in few months, I would have been horribly disappointed. It is so lucky that I am working ahead by a year.
I paid over $104 for a certified copy of marriage certificate in NC on 6/12. Still in processing. Then after I received it, it would then need to go to an Apostille. WTH! Needed it for visa. Emailed them for update on 6/29. No reply until 7/9, Here is the reply:
As of today, the order has been processing for 17 business days. It can the NC office 25-30 business days to work on the order before they ship it out.

Since I did not get a reply in a couple days I researched ( yes, a bit too late) only to see the really bad reviews. I immediately got to work in getting this document myself. Got the Certified Marriage Certificate and had Apostilled in NC via mail within a week. Paid $10 for certificate and $10 for Apostille, plus overnight shipping cost. Still way less than $104+. Needed shipped to the UK, which was why I seeked assistance from them.
NOT SURE what the hold up is, or the cost is for. STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY ORDER FROM THEM. Tried to cancel, which by the way they answered that email straight away. A big fat NO of course.

After being asked 3/4 times when my tentative date my record will be released or any info to be updated, he shoots me with this passive aggressive emails where he explains how to count to me. I told him in previous emails I excluded weekends and the date I have was the 20th. Then I asked him what date he had. He ignored answering that question. Finally I got this rude email back from him. To be fair he's always been rude, so he gets points on consistency but this is the type of customer care you will get when you inquire about your records.
I regret ever using this SCAM company. I have sent countless emails, I've been calling over and over with 1hr wait times to speak to an agent that always sounds new and ill trained. All my other documents from other states have come in, but vital records was suggested as the method to order you birth certificate on the Virginia website so that is precisely what I did!
Been waiting on my birth certificate because I need a current one (mine is too old for the apostille stamp) and they have yet to respond to any emails or take any of my concerns seriously. Expect to wait 1 hour on hold for an agent to tell you to wait another week or two. When you know you need this important document to get stamped in order to get your visa before your flight! This company can destroy my whole trip, flight, and visa status and THEY DO NOT CARE! How hard is it to order a copy of my birth certificate? Seriously! Worst company ever. Avoid! At this rate it looks like I'm going to have to fly to Virginia and claim my documents myself. Do not trust them and contact your bank since fat chance of them refunding you.

I went through all the steps putting all my information all my child information for a birth certificate because I didn't have a drivers license I had to go find a notarization person to notarize who I was I don't drive and I recently had surgery on both of my hands so I would have to take a bus or public transportation that's the same cost as it is for the fee I think they need to put more information right there to tell you what you're signing up for and if you cancel this order you have to pay an additional six dollars fee because you don't want to go through with it I rather wait in line then deal with this crap I didn't see none of that when I was signing up for it but then when I called them they said check your email it's additional six dollar cancellation fee come on out you can show that on the screen as I was on there and then every time I try to click on something else it's like enter your number into your pin number like what the hell is going on is this a scam I think the better business Borough need to be contact

What an incredible mess. I needed a certified copy of my marriage license but when I got to the final page before you place the order it asks you for your social security number. I then opened a new tab to quickly check that the website was legit (as I would do with anyone asking for my SSN). And while that page was still open, I got an email thanking me for my order with a receipt showing I had paid $25 for a new marriage certificate. I immediately thought I must have hit 'place order' on accident, but then I went back to that tab and I still hadn't put in my social security number or clicked 'place order.' My bank statement shows the charge came from Vitalchek. Two weeks later, they contacted me and said they needed more sensitive info to fulfill my order, I let them know that I never placed the order, that I never gave them my SSN, and that they charged me for something I never ordered.
I got three different responses: The first response was from someone who said they couldn't find any evidence of any charge or any order, which is funny, because I was able to provide an order number in the screenshot of the bank charge. The second person said that any question about charges or cancellation needs to be done through the Maryland Vital Records Office, which is interesting, seeing as how the charges came from vitalchek.com and I haven't ever interacted with the Maryland Vital Records Office. The third person simply said they weren't sure how this could have happened, and then ended the conversation. Luckily I was driving up to Maryland that weekend and was able to get what I needed for $5.50. I still haven't been refunded the $25. I'm not going to pursue this any further because it's such a small amount, but they absolutely stole this money from me the minute I put in my bank info. Everything about this company is a scam.

My mother ordered a divorce decree that she needs in order to obtain VA benefits. It has been 6 months and still no decree. When she checked the status it states that the "time has passed to process." There was a phone number provided but they don't answer or take messages. They took her money ($90) but will not return her emails requesting the status. She only has 3 months left to get this to the VA or she will lose all the benefits for this year. As I told her, they are stealing from the elderly and it's not right.
They finally responded with the statemenIs below They claimed I never responded to their previous emails. I forwarded the emails showing my responses and dates. They then sent an email stating there were no records, I reminded them I had a photocopy of the divorce decree so there were records.

Their next ridiculous response, which I just received, stated that I should reorder and pay them again. And they are still claiming the information given to them was incorrect even though it came directly off the divorce decree.

Ordered BC on 1/17. They were unable to process my credit card, did not contact to let me know for 2 weeks. Contact them on 1/31 to because when I went to check the status online it ( finally send notice that credit card payment wasn't processed). Speak to a representative, she processes the payment & although I ask her why the online form still states that the credit card was declined, she tells me not to worry about it - will update. I see the credit card has processed on my end- but a week later on 2/7-Vitalchek online form still states payment declined. So I call back again, stay on hold for 15 mins while service rep checks on it. Asks me if she can process my credit card again, I tell her no- since I can already see it went through my bank on 1/31. Puts me on hold again to talk to supervisor. Comes back and tells me it's a computer glitch & though they can see it was paid- the system didn't update it. She cannot fix it, nor can her supervisor- they have to get a 2nd supervisor involved and have to call me back. Calls back an hour and half later, says yes can conform payment went through on 1/31 and they just now sent my request to the state to get my Birth certificate. WTF? So sat on payment for a week... no notice. If I hadn't called to check- they would have just kept my money and not submitted the request. It is now 3 weeks and I cold have just submitted my request directly to my state vital records office and not paid these@@#$! To just hold my money and do nothing, I'm still a month out from getting my BC. Oh, and I just checked this order status online... and my order still says payment declined( ironically with a Green checkbox?) The odds of me actually receiving anything is not looking good. Will call back again later today to find out why it still says "payment declined" when I am more calm and less shouty.
