Didn't explain some basics around 401k all of which would have been clearly visible on their system. On top of that they would not resolve it. Wouldn't recommend using them!

The Federal Government Thrift Savings Plan recently contracted out services to ALIGHT SOLUTIONS a few months ago. Numerous complaints are coming in from plan members who are former retired military and civil service employees. The Thrift Savings Plan, aka TSP, is where current and retired Federal employees participate in respective agency 401k plans and many send their life long retirement investments to. Since the transition to this so called servicer, the TSP system has all but collapsed. Why TSP failed to research this company's awful ratings including BBB D rating is bewildering. This matter should be brought to the attention of the Thrift Savings Plan Inspector General Office for investigating either gross mismanagement of the TSP plan or worse. The first question should be who allowed this to happen.

HORRIBLE!
January 26, 2022

My employer switched over to Alight (SmartChoice HSA). I enrolled in my benefits in Oct. 21. I received an email from Alight in Nov requesting my DL and SSN to be uploaded. I did it and my HSA card was supposed to be mailed in 7-10 business days. No card! I received another email on 1/3/22 requesting another DL and SSN upload. I called them on the 3,11 and again on today (26th) and they're hanging up on me as SOON as I say, I want my HSA card. They're taking money out of my check and my employer has also made a contribution. I'll make time today because I plan call until someone helps me. This is ridiculous!

The company continually denies claims saying that the documentation is blurry. The documentation is a pdf (not scanned) How can it be blurry? They use any excuse not to pay reimbursements.

Worked at Alight. Received a letter about 401K balance and making a distribution option. I attempted to log in from May 31,2023. Their system stopped sending me the security codes to my phone. So, they mailed me a Benefits Phone Pin. Called in with pin. Pin does not work. When ever the call is transferred each Rep sends a pin and cancells out the previous mail in pin so when I get my pin in the mail it does not work because there is another pin in the mail on it's way. Fast forward to today Sept 29,2023 and there as been series of pins that take 10-14 business days to arrive. They say they cannot update my phone number over the phone because the call has not been secured with a phone pin. They then mailed me the next step to take to validate my identity. I now have to take an Identification Affidavit and get it notorized (a cost) and get it faxed (another cost). I don't have a land line phone and I have no internet fax. This company is straight buffoonery. Unreal and waste of time. They refused to change my number. Keep your retirement money AWAY from this company. That star rating needs to have a 6th star for ZERO.

Left State Farm, Illinois in December 2021. Prior to leaving I was able to see my pension balance (although small, still planned on a IRA or lum sum payout). Upon checking the "Alight servicer" PORTAL which State Farm Benefit directed all ex employees to I found out that after a cumbersome log in there was little to no info on the portal (NO Balance, NO INFO that it was a "monthly Annuity" which I did NOT want. The features in the portal and customer service FORCED us into a tiny monthly payout (like a shady Annuity plan or Blockchain I guess). Noone would want that after they left the org and other employees got lump sum paytous and full pension payout options.

This has become a total sham and run around and I believe GAINSO, Alight, State Farm, Blue Owl and other "data partners" are exploiting and using ex employee data in bad ways., Both State Farm and Alight have breached data.

Even now, I can't get an answer to HOW MUCH is in the Annuity (Balance), how to cash it out and ANY details about it!

This whole scam needs addressed as a IRA rollover or lum payout would have been better for employees (but highly compensated mgrs and VPs and Directors and execs need to prove their metrics and get bonus clearly).

What can be done!

Feb. 7,2022: My Annuity was to begin in Feb. 2022 (turned 65 in Jan 2022) and the payment & "servicing" of the annuity was transferred from Brighthouse (BH) to Alight Solutions (AS) in October 2021. This annuity was from an FDIC bank takeover from the early 1990's, so how the heck does the US government choose this incompetent company to administer my annuity? Shame on the US Government! I recvd my retirement annuity papers from BH in late Sept. 2021 and completed & sent back in mid Oct. 2021 (fax and mail). I called BH/AS in late Dec. 2021 only to - AT THAT POINT - be told the BH annuity papers I sent were no longer "good" since AS was now in charge of my annuity. They had these docs for two a half months and never contacted me that any paperwork was wrong or had to me completed again! I had to complete all the same docs, fax the 16 pages to them on Jan. 28 and contacted them again the next week. On Feb. 3 and 4,2022, I spent a total of over 5 hours (several different call) on the phone with AS employees, transferred numerous times, only to get their unprofessional runaround. I was promised each day that someone would "look into this issue" and call me back, and yes - NOBODY AT AS CALLS ME BACK! My next step is to provide this info. To my Virginia state insurance bureau, as well as to my US Congressmen and two US Senators so maybe they can look into the shady business practices. This AS company should be replaced and their inept and incompetent employees should be fired since they are not getting their jobs done.

I am an alternate payee from a divorce decree Qdro in ohio. My exes employer CCF, used alight
" Solutions " to administer their frozen pension fund. I have been trying to get paid out on this since October 2021. They claim i set up an online acct and pin which i never did. Because I couldn't provide an phone pin they refuse to give me any vehicle to divest my funds. They claim to have sent me a temporary phone pin, I never received via us mail. When I called and complained they saaid they would overnight mail me a new pin. When i received the pin i called and it said the pin had expired, 2 days after i got it. Its apparent to me that this is a predatory, horribly mismanaged company, that instructs its employees to do whatever they can not to payout the pensioners monies. They should not be allowed to continue in business. I have read each of upwards of 100 complaints and negative reviews on numerous sites. What does it take to shut down such a horrible organisation. The Cleveland Clinic and alight should be ashamed.

EY is using Alight to offer Better You benefits and also "Firm managed" pension plan. As many stated, what EY was thinking?! The customer service, the management, the level of technology, the qualification of personnel - everything screams THESE GUYS ARE YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE. I wasted 3 months trying to get my pension from them after I terminated my employment. Calling them is pain. Making appointments - is waste of time, they can call you 20 min after appointment time, after few rings - they will hang up to never call back. They schedule in CT time, but then call you in ET time. To make matters worse, they cannot manage a simple transaction of direct rollover. I requested my roll over to be done to Fidelity. They told me I'll will have to wait 6-8 weeks (!) after my employment's termination. Then they made an attempt to make a transfer to fidelity that was coded as "contribution" (!) (Which would put me at odds with IRS. Thanks God, Fidelity rejected that transfer. Then, 3 weeks later they sent me a check (even thought I requested a direct transfer). This check was written into my name, but not for deposit at Fidelity, but some kind of local bank in Missouri (and I live in Michigan). I spent about 5 hours in total on the calls with Alight customer rep, last time I spoke with them - the guy wasn't able to even tell me what would be the name the check is to be issued into. He tried to read it 3 times and each time it was something else. My advice - if you have an option to keep money with Alight till your pension, or take them with you - don't even think twice. Take them while you can. 20 years later these clowns will easily tell you they have no records of your pension and don't owe you a dime.

I'm a new hire at my company as of 10/16/23, and I've received my FSA card, but haven't received my pin. PER ALIGHT'S paperwork that came with the card, the pin would be mailed separately. I already had to wait until 11/1 to be covered by my benefits and I needed my medication. On 11/7/23, I called the number on the back of the card, and had to be transferred to a different department. Guess what happened?! The phone was on hold for a while and then hung up. I was smart enough to previously get the direct number for the FSA group, and I called back, but it still put me back in the regular queue. Not to mention the first guy acted like he was scared or was new. Someone just picked up and I heard background noise and I know I said hello at least 7-8 times before a girl finally said hello. No greeting, no apology or intro from her, no name given. I asked to be transferred and she repeated it back to me and then transferred me. I finally get to someone who walks me through down loading the app and where to find my pin. Ok cool; it shouldn't have taken 35 minutes to get my issue resolved, but I'll deal. Well the next day, I get an email from them that on 11/7/23, $.01 was charged and approved on my card. How?! Who?! For what?! OF COURSE their email simply says "visit the website if you need to dispute it" but doesn't include the website where to dispute it. I have never heard of Alight prior to my current job, and I'm starting to see why. Their customer service is HORRID, along with the virtual assistant on my company's internal page and it's not user friendly or intuitive where to go to get things done. ZERO STARS, DO NOT RECOMMEND, I HATE THEM!

My daughter was born and obviously had to report that. The online site said her social was invalid so naturally I call for help. Now, 2 months later I am STILL trying to get her added to my insurance even though I took all of the necessary steps in the allotted time.

PHONE INTERFACE
Awful. First off I hate automated sysytems but I get why we have them, However, I have 3 children under 4 so when you use a call and response method versus a keypad, the system picks up my kids and keeps delaying progress. Then, I spend 5 minutes going through the prompts only for them to tell me that they aren't open yet (might be good to say that first!). I know I could've looked that up, but we are up at 6:30am every day so 9am in basically the afternoon, lol.

CUSTOMER SERVICE
Okay, I am pretty sure your people are outsourced. I cannot stand when people cannot converse with me in my native language (American English). It makes it difficult for them to understand the problem and how to fix it and judging from their replies, they have no idea how frustrating this entire ordeal has been. All I needed was to add my daughter to my insurance...simple right?
2/25 First phone call they added her to my dependent's list. (not what I asked for)
2. Asked for her to be added to my insurance...they added her without her social.
3. Asked again for her to be added. They added her (Yay!)...but now she was in there twice.
4. Called to have the entry removed without the social...done...
5. Called because they added her to the NEW plan year, but not to the existing plan year when she was born...
6. Called because the insurance company still did not have her information. They opened a ticket...would be fixed soon.
4/12 7. Calling again today because after a week she is still not on my insurance.

Meanwhile, we are asking the hospital to not put us into collections as the bills are piling up waiting to be processed by insurance. I HATE Alight and I hope Target drops them as soon as possible! If you are a company looking to hire them on, choose someone else, anyone else would be better!

Company provides a service to employees to use Alight Financial Services' Edelmen Finacial Engine for Free and use Alight as a for Fee Advisor with access to the 401k Savings plan. BUT when in the Free Engine you can inadvertently sign up for the For Fee service which will allow them to manage your 401k investments WITHOUT your input. They send an email welcoming you and other emails prompting you to provide goal input. If they don't receive a reply in 30 days, they will reallocate your assets without your input AND charge you a substantial FEE. Welll,,, their email address will get caught in most spam fliters are your email providers server, ie you will never know you got it in your Junk file. Turns out their reallocation is a simple alogorithm based on your age alone. They reallocated my total Stable Income fund which I had for an emergency fund into core bond, large cap, and emerging market funds. So in one month instead of earning 1.5% APR I lost over 8% AND paid them $1,000 for that loss! I called and expected them to at least refund all or part of their Fee as it was an obvious oversight. But no! They said sorry and tried to convince me reallocating my Emergency Funds into Core Bond funds (which are plummeting) is OK in the long run. They did not understand Emergency funds are to weather the short term. They really did not care.

Alight manages my wife's retirement plan from Baxter. We contacted Alight in early March to inform them we hadn't received a 1099. They said one hadn't been sent because there was "no taxable event"! My wife had received a year's worth of retirement benefits so this was obviously incorrect. They said they'd send a 1099, but after two weeks we called again and were informed they had neglected to send one. They offered to overnight a 1099 but when we checked two days later we were again informed the 1099 had not been sent. They generated a shipment today which will arrive on April 14! If anyone from Baxter or Voyager reads these reviews you need to fire this company. Not a single representative we spoke with over numerous phone calls EVER provided any quality customer service. Literally the worst company I've ever interacted with. Wish you could use ZERO stars
