Great service on the phone to sell a lighting fixture from Quoizel that was on sale. BUT then you see the true colors. Your order will leave the warehouse in 1-2 days, then your order has been delayed a week, next you hear the order has been delayed from 5/11/2016 to 9/15/2016... REALLY! Several local lighting stores have the product in stock and have 2 week delivery dates. Bait with a sale price then don't deliver. I will not use this company again.
I am pro buyer.I ordered and received a microwave in late 2018. It came damaged from Build, so I called Build, and they told me they would look into it. I sent photos and everything the rep asked at the time. The problem was I am contractor, and the customer took the day off to have it installed. I removed $100 from my quoted price and installed. Now they are having shorts in the microwave itself. It was a Fridgeaire microwave, I will not purchase for myself or anyone else. I called Build and they told me to call the manufacture. I asked if they ever "looked into the damaged microwave" (hoping to get a direct replacement) and was told no notes provided or info (Darnell the customer rep at Build). I never do business again. Close to $50k business over the years. I take my business somewhere else. STAY AWAY<...
I've used Build.com in the past and every experience has been above expectations. I couldn't find the air conditioner I wanted in my area and they had it at a good price. Delivered in 5 days. They're on my "GO" list!
We're a large remodeling company and we a pro-account with Build.com, we've been with them for about 10 years, We spend well over $100k a year with them (plumbing fixtures, lighting & appliances). We LOVE build.com! I have a pro account rep and have rarely ever had an issue.
The cooktop and cookware arrived quickly. I'm happy with the cooktop but the free cookware pitted on first use, boiling water. Disappointing! I sent an email and they politely referred me to the manufacturer. So they just are resellers. If you want any kind of warranty, I suggest buying from a reputable dealer. I did not want to return the entire product box for two cook pots but there should be some easy way to replace inferior products. So I don't know whether they have an honorable return policy. I did take photos.
This place sucks.
Ive placed 3 or 4 orders and every single one of them is a problem.
Products are damaged. Not shipping damage. Example. I ordered 4 edge pull handles(they are basically 90 degrees bent metal). All 4 showed up stacked together. 2 were perfect and 2 were bent and had threads imprinted in the aluminum. Obviously sent out that way.
Another example. Blum drawer sliders that had plastic adjuster tabs broken off but not in the box.
This last order. I ordered both blum and knape & vogt screws. 5 different part numbers. Not a single part number was blum or knape & vogt. And in fact all the screws were some made in china brand called quickscrews. Bait and switch.
I also placed an order then Immediately called back to add on one more part number and they would not add on anything so I told them to cancel the order so I could re-order everything together. Well, they never canceled the order. It showed up the day before the second order that were ordered 2 hours apart. Both from different shipping companies.
Be warned that if you call you better have two hours before you get off the phone because you'll be on hold that long
I give up on these guys. Shipped the wrong product three times - causing me to miss deadlines. Just got off the phone with customer service - all apologetic and very nice. That said, they shipped the wrong product three times!
I purchased a faucet from Build.com. The item received was a light bulb. Upon calling Build.com, they stated that they shipped the wrong part and a replacement part would be sent.
Build.com notified me that I needed to return the light bulb when the faucet was received, but no return label was provided to me. A few weeks later, Build.com contacted me telling me that the light bulb was not returned and they were going to charge me Twice for the faucet since I didn't return the light bulb.
I responded to Build.com letting them know that if they provided a return label then I would send the light bulb back. I'm not going to pay for shipping again because they sent the wrong item. The response from customer service via email was "I have to know I am not in the office, please call in to get this taking care of period thank you." So I guess when Build.com makes mistakes, it's really the customers job to fix them.
I ordered seven item for the remodel of our master bathroom. Build.com provided great customer service and delivery of our products that no other company offered. They beat all othe company pricing and gave me an additonal discount. Thank You!

Very poor delivery from Estes delivery. I ordered expensive cabinets for my laundry room. The delivery person was in a big hurry to leave and not wait for me to unwrap my delivery. He would not bring the cabinets to my front porch, so I had to talk to his supervisor, so horrible. Finally, he was told to bring the cabinets to my front porch. I have a handicap loading ramp, very easy. The cabinets were cheap and I noticed some damage. So, I had no recourse because the delivery man left. I will never buy from Build.com again. Poor quality and service.
Build.com made it so easy to plan for my bathroom renovation project. It is great to be able to find and compare such a variety of materials, create a project file, and create an account. It was easy to share my file with my tile designer and my contractor and project manager. When it came to delivery, I was stunned on the day of delivery to see that my address had been typed incorrect in my file-- a quick call to Build.com and everything was corrected and good to go. Their account representatives and customer service are always very helpful.
I have purchased just about every type of home improvement item that was needed for our home remodeling projects on Build.com. We have rebuilt every room in this house. I have purchased: can lights, trim rings, pendant lights, bathroom lav and shower faucets ( 3 separate bathrooms), handle pulls, Reva-shelf lift, even the kitchen sink and faucet! Every order was correct, on time and very well priced. If I had a problem it was fixed immediately. I come back everytime I need something new for our projects.
Ordered bathroom fixtures and was contacted by ABF (contracted by Build.com) for delivery. Agreed to day of receipt and then got an email from Buid.com saying I got a credit two days before the delivery. ABF had returned the fixtures to Build.com and no one contacted me to say they were not going to delivery in two days on the agreed delivery date. No communcaitions from anybody so I could not make other plans. Now have to change the construction schedule as a result. Reliability and good communication is essential, this as about as far from that as it gets. At least I did no have to battle over the credit, since it was already issued.
We sincerely apologize for the lack of communication you received regarding the shipment of your order. If we were told by the freight company that the order was rejected we try to issue a refund as soon as possible. Otherwise, we will contact the customer and set up a replacement accordingly. I am trying to find a doorknob that works with a door from 1929, I have had to return a couple of items I bought that didnt work. The first return went smoothly. The second return was like a nightmare. I am out over $150 and not only is customer service not helpful AT ALL, but the 'president' could care less also. They are not customer friendly. The customer does NOT come first with this company. You will waste countless minutes/hours trying to deal with them and it will result in you losing money. Stick with Amazon.

I've been purchasing products from Build.com for close to ten years now and am always impressed by the pricing, delivery and great customer service I get from the People at Build.com. If I am not around my laptop or in a place where my smart phone isn't so smart, I just call up my sales rep and he's right on top of things for me. He gets me any current discounts/coupons and places my order for me in no time flat.
Great company to work with. Makes the hassle of ordering things a great experiance.

Purchased a replacement Kichler globe from (via) Build. Unfortunately, it came w/ some construction flaws. Reported this to Build and they had a replacement for the replacement sent out immediately without any concern/picture proof. Extremely accommodating. The replacement was defective as well. I reported it and Build had another sent, all at no additional charge to me. Unfortunately, the 2nd replacement (#3 overall) was worse than the first. At this point, I have given up trying to get a replacement globe of the same quality as our original 6 lights. Used the first one sent but it is hanging somewhat precariously. Expect problem is w/ Kichler. Build has been very customer service oriented.
They are still showing selling merchandise on their website even though they do not have it in stock. Such a disappointment. We ordered and paid since march and till today they still do not have the item we ordered and paid in stock. Up to date June 2022, we have received 15 emails from them about they are sorry and delay for another months. They used to great company to deal with, this time they are such a dsisappointment.
This company is very dishonest. We bought an expensive microwave that we needed to return. We made arrangements with Build.com on June 27th to pick up the microwave. It is now October 8th and we have still not received our refund despite making many attempts to resolve this with their customer service department. We only receive the run-around! I am not sure if their customer service department is incompetent or intentionally ripping us off. Either way, we will NEVER do business with them again.
I ordered a very nice Zephyr hood, when it arrived I opened it to examine it and prep for install, unfortunately it arrived damaged. I contacted them immediately and they were very good about replacing it. No hassle at all. I would not hesitate buying from them again
I ordered a door handleset from build.com. The box arrived the next week with missing parts, and the wrong color. I called, emailed, called, about the order and NEVER received a return label to ship back via UPS. I called about the return label 4-5 times, and emailed my receipts, and did not receive any response other than they would credit that shipping amount back to me (this has not happened). I do not understand their customer service lines and lack of response, as I do not receive return calls or emails that actually results in something being corrected. I ended up paying for the return shipment myself and contested the charges for the handleset through my credit card issuer. This has been a nightmare-do not fall for their ads or pricing schemes, if something is wrong, you are screwed.

Answer: I don't know how you can actually get them to answer the correct lead time. I received an estimated ship date when I ordered an American Standard faucet. Then, they emailed me 3 more times with delays. I called them after the first delay, and while I was on the phone with the agent, she placed me on hold and called American Standard, and said they told her that there would be no more delays. After this last delay, I called to cancel the order. They said they would "request cancellation" from American Standard. The big problem is they charged my account IMMEDIATELY when I ordered the product, but won't refund the money until American Standard confirms the cancellation. The service agent i spoke with escalated to her supervisor, and the supervisor is the worst person I have ever encountered when dealing with customer service.
Answer: Sorry to hear that. What finish were you trying to match? Usually its best ti use the same brand name when trying to match a finish, such as a Moen faucet to match a Moen towel bar or towel ring. That is because everybody has their own technique of making their products. I wonder if the finish on your new American Standard faucet is doesn't match because the other item you're matching in not made by American Standard. You should be able to return it if it hasn't been installed in any way and you still have the original packaging. The return items page has complete directions that make it fairly easy to send items back. Good Luck! Anthony
