I am writing this review to say that my first three years with Care.com were successful and I secured a great job with a family that I was employed with for three years. I had a wonderful profile and a great reference. My score was high and once the family I worked for relocated I searched for another job.
There are some difficult people out there to handle and as a care giver. I feel that Care.com does not support the caregiver in any way. I found a new client who was upset that she had to pay taxes as the IRS expects them to for any amount of money over 2100 dollars.
She complained to Care.com and the profile I spent so long building and had great references with was removed from their site. I paid for premium membership as well.
There is absolutely zero backing for the caregiver and I feel they are a company at this point whom would take care of these problems (reviews that are not solid and such).
If you pay your taxes as you should- be careful because Care.com does not care if employers pay taxes and will remove you if you have an opinion about it.
Terrible. They bank and have only 564 employees and just take money without any explanation as to why they remove or desire to discontinue your membership... after taking your money.
I am disgusted with the way they handle their business.
I give them zero stars
I am a student, out for summer break and, because its so short, decided to try pet sitting over the summer instead of applying for position at businesses. Thinking care.com was a reputable site, I decided to give it go. The Basic membership (free) state we could apply to jobs for free. I designed a profile and was excited to build my business. Well little did I know, in order to apply for positions on this site, you have to have credits and credits have to be purchased. Currently, most positions required 4 credits to apply, each at about. 90 cents a pop. So I would be paying nearly $4 for each application. How is this legal? Why should I be paying to apply for employment? If I had extra money to frivolously spend on applying for employment, I probably dont need a summer job. Its a horrendous system and keeps a ton of people from applying simply for economic reasons. The "free" jobs that are listed on the website consist of outside companies advertising for people to join them. I most certainly won't be using care.com. Its a disgusting and greedy practice to require people to pay to apply for jobs. Care.com should be ashamed, I would give no stars is possible
I cancelled my membership and closed the job posting on 4/18/2021. Care.com continued to charge me three $89 subsequent charges before I noticed.
When I noticed, I reached out to inform that I had cancelled, and I requested a refund.
The chat agent said all charges are non-refundable. Again, I have had 0 open job postings since April, and it's December. I asked for the phone number to billing/customer care and was instructed to go and find it on my bank statement. It was not on my bank statement, so I asked for it again.
The agent refused to provide it and went so far as to send a smiley face.
The billing issue is one thing, but I am especially disappointed with Adrian, the Care.com agent, because of their lack of empathy and unwillingness to support in any way, even to offer options. It's like Care.com didn't want our business.
Also, when you call the phone number on the website it routs through an automated message and hangs up. When you email their help desk, an automated response says that the email address isn't monitored, please check the FAQ page. They have a phone number that doesn't work, and an email that doesn't lead anywhere.
Care.com is a scam.

I would like to CAUTION and/or STOP anyone from thinking about using Care. CCom's service. They have a nasty habit of scamming/tricking people into being billed a monthly charge (usually $35.00) untill you realize who and what they are. They use underhanded practices to trick people into becoming obligated in paying for a service or services you might never ever use. And, when you contact them (I spoke with Ervin) you are told they have a strict refund policy of only being able to refund the most recent month's charge, even though you never authorized them to chsrge you. I believe it to be an underhanded form of bait and switch and believe the authorities should be looking into this company. Please do yourself a favor and do not get involved with this company. You will live to regret it!
My wife had set up an account as a nanny, a full account that is... Her story goes that she received multiple fraudulent text messages and e-mails. She replied to one, but then refrained to go further after talking about it to me. Well, subsequently, her account got hacked into (her password was really good, and not used elsewhere), she no longer had a premium account and her personal informations and descriptions had been changed. Afterwards, we tried to find a reliable phone number to contact them (eventually found one after a long search) but only to find that the representative was unreceptive to her complaint. We promptly cancelled her credit card, and made an official complaint to our bank about this website. The mere fact that scammers got access to her phone number and that her account got hacked tells me how low the security is on this website, unless scammers work for them...
Now, I invite you to look at the similarity in structure of the "good reviews" left about care.com on this website, and the similar responses given by the representatives. It's not genuine...
Keep away! KEEP AWAY!
Do I ever feel bullied. Consequently, I have procrastinated about doing this. Is the experience with CARE intuitive or straight forward? HELL NO! I feel victimized by trying to get information!
Does Care.com charge people looking for employment? I have applied for several jobs in the past few months And CARE.COM sends a message saying "To view a response from this person "which is someone I applied to for a position" you need to UPGRADE. Which in turn mean pay to have a person respond to a position I applied for That is ridiculous I cannot believe I have to actually pay to get a job
I have to provide a lot of info, before discovering the cost. Also the promo code you sent didn't work for me. Maybe it was operator error, but I tried a couple of times.

I'm a qualified caregiver and have been posted on here for a couple months I have not received ONE SINGLE INQUIRY. I've applied to jobs and received NO ANSWER. This site is completely pointless and you won't get ANY JOBS from here. Waste of time!
Cate.com is all about selling more services to you. Once you have paid for a subscription you would think that they would respect you as a paying customer and provide service without always trying to get you to pay more. Not true with Care.com. You cannot send a caregiver your phone number because they want you to use their communication service and a care giver cannot send you their phone number. Numbers are censored and messages deleted without warning. Its horrible. Also the greedy people at Care.com constantly bombard you with messages to pay your caregivers through them for a fee and even threaten you with constant warnings that you have to pay taxes for your care givers, so consequently you should use their service for a fee to pay those taxes. Worse yet is that the large majority of caregivers listed on Care.com are not available. They retain old listings for years to inflate their numbers. Maybe only 20% are actually new listings. Based on their censorship and greed, It appears that Care.com is not a reputable company. Sittercity is better, but I hope another more honest firm enters the market in s big way to compete with both of these companies sometime soon!
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
