“Ebay to my rescue!”

Ebay sorted my problem in full and deserve 5 stars as they are fair in the end. Thank Mr Ebay. Please do stop such practices adopted by sellers as that will increase public confidence.

“Ebay did not honor guarantee”

Cathy T.

A seller reported a package delivered to my address. We do not have USPS delivery here everything is left at our local office or PO Box when possible. I continued to check the post office for over a week with the postmaster. The package never arrived. I contacted the seller who said it was signed for, but it was never signed for because I am the only one who signs for anything or checks the mail. Ebay closed the case telling me no refund would be sent. There is no way this package was ever delivered, and absolutely no way I signed for it. Ebay is supposed to provide Buyer protection. They do not! I will never use Ebay again.

Even for a buyer ebay can be terrible, most sellers are great, but occasionally you get a greedy deceitful person, after dealing with a seller who agreed to combine the postage cost then after I won changed his mind! I spoke to ebay, their customer service is just horrible, they have wasted hours and hours transferring me from one clueless person to the next! I'm still waiting for an answer and it's already been about 3 hours, their answers are generic garbage like "we will not tolerate seller activity like this" then they do absolutely nothing! I've spoken to about 9 different clueless people and they keep transferring me to their "specialist team bla bla" yes very specialist indeed, one "specialist team" member transfers me to another "specialist", I guess they were not special enough, and instead of transferring me they disconnect me! Then I have to go through the whole story again with another person! Ridiculous, one person was so slow to respond I thought she was stoned, hours and hours wasted, if they cannot enforce agreements between buyers and sellers then what is their purpose, they should have a clear combined postage policy that seller's are forced to abide by there should a forced combined postage policy on the item description that would save both buyers and sellers so much hassle and headache. Update - after going in circles with ebay customer service chat for about 4 hours I just gave up, it seems that is their intention they are not the kind of company who wants to hear from their customers their entire website is designed to stop people from contacting them I couldn't even find a complaints department shocking for such a large company to not care about it's customers very sad :(

I tried to list some face masks on ebay which were surplus to requirement as bought for my business, which has now had to close due to virus ebay kept taking my listing down even though my price was much lower than others selling exactly the same items, I contacted them by chat to have a very rude attitude, I then asked for a a call, basically it boils down to it is ebay decision who they let sell, they couldn't share the information with me on how they come to their conclusion, I have looked at other sellers and threads on this matter and seems to be if you are a large company or corporation you can, if not you can't, so my conclusion is that ebay are allowing the rich to profit through a world pandemic so they also can profiteer to a large degree, they basically told me they had no obligation to answer any of my questions on thier discrimination, so shame on ebay their are people selling cheap bad quality products at extortionate prices and eBay are allowing this for thier own gain, may I add some of these sellers are new, I have been a member from 2012. Absolutely shameful from this Company.
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING AND NO ONE CAN STOP THEM FROM DOING IT.

Apparently in a recent dealing with eBay Global, I was temporarily "suspended" for 7 days because I actually sell on other sites (but never cross reference in any sites).

I called eBay Central and was connected with a foreign representative who claimed that using the phrase "proprietary online monopoly" was PROFANITY.
I reminded that rep she was in error & she told me to "cease using profanity" as if she was reading off a prompting card.

I demanded to be connected with a local rep... that one threatened to have me permanently removed from the eBay community... BASICALLY ALL BECAUSE I USE OTHER SELLING SITES.

ATTENTION eBay:
YOU ARE NOT A PROPRIETARY ONLINE MONOPOLY!

UPDATE: Feb 13th 2024

After 20 years with eBay:
I QUIT!

This platform speaks of "integrity"; yet it is ANYTHING but "integrity"!
Buyers & Sellers CONSTANTKY SLANDERING the other on "biblical proportions" of selfishness.

The response from eBay is ALWAYS:
"That is THEIR opinion" (as if honesty & integrity DON'T MATTER!

See my pictures. It's THAT BAD.

Tip for consumers:
ONLY that eBay SUCKS!

I've only ever had 3 nonsensical transactions on eBay as a buyer OR seller since 2002.

Although eBay has been nicknamed "feebay" by many users, it's still a decent site.
Not perfect, but it's been good enough to have a business from 2002-2008 & reestablish it in 2018 after a decade-long hiatus, while keeping my buyer/seller username open since 2002.
Reestablishing my seller account was easy.
STILL... fees tend to be a little bit high... if one doesn't sell properly.

Ive been buying and selling on eBay for a while now and I love it yea Ive had a few bad experiences but they were quickly handled and I was refunded or sent new items Ebay has a guaranteed get the item you ordered or money back guarantee and they stick to it just some people dont know how to go about getting their money back if you ever have that problem you just go to resolve problem in resolution center before 45 days of delivery or you wont get your money back Ive never had any problems getting my item or money back on Ebay their money back guarantee over rides any Ebay sellers return policy no matter what but that dont mean you should take advantage of a seller because that makes it very hard and difficult for sellers they dont deserve that and thats one reason Ebay will get bad reviews from dishonest buyers I only return if the seller is at fault not if Im at fault always read descriptions and ask questions before purchasing any thing so that you and the seller have made a great business decision together sellers if you decide to sell on eBay make sure you add as much description as possible and add ask any questions then document what you sent in mail that way when a dishonest buyer claims you sent a defective item you have proof you didnt and you can handle the situation over with Ebay or if your item didnt arrive open a case before 45 days you will get your money back please every one be honest when selling and buying because bad business is no business so thats all I have to say I rate Ebay 5 stars

Ebay = BUYER STAY AWAY

Ebay is getting worse in time, I'm a member since 2003 at the beginning Ebay protected the buyer from fraudulent transactions so I felt confident in my purchasing on their site, NOW it's the worse online site.
3 years ago I got scammed for $78 for Epson printer THAT NEVER ARRIVED and they just give me the run around in witch I end up in loosing the money so I closed my account and went to Amazon.com, last year went back to Ebay and ordered a few thins all went fine until they failed to change my shipping address and about to lose another item due to their lack of management, my primary address was correct but apparently it doesn't mean that the shipping address will change automatically and they don't alert you to that fact.
Now the seller are in control and ebay will not protect you or give you a refund no matter how small the amount or hard and long you fight for it.
FOL ME ONCE SHAME ON YOU FOL ME TWICE SHAME ON ME,,, NEVER AGAIN.
EBAY SUCK,, NO STAR IF I COULD WILL GIVE THEM -5 STARS.

Ebay charged took $335 from my credit card through paypal to refund to the buyer before I received returned item. I sold and sent Louis Vuitton purse, the packaged was held at post office and when the buyer went to pick it up the package was already had a big hold according to the buyer. The buyer said there wasn't Louis Vuitton i sent her. The buyer open return request case, the ebay decided to do favor to the buyer and took $335 from my credit card through paypal before i even get a chance to received my item back and check. The return tracking number showing the package had address problem and on the way back to the buyer, and ebay already took money from my acct to refund to the buyer. I'm not even sure if the buyer sent me my Louis Vuitton purse or something else since buyer claim there was different brand in the box which is a lie. I called ebay over four times, but ebay wouldn't even reopen case or appeal. I don't even have my item back and i lost money. $335 might not a big amount, but it's not only about money, it's about ebay acted unfairly. I called my credit card company and they can't even dipute the charge because ebay charged me as "fee". I called paypal, and i was told to contact local police department for this issue. I have tracking number and screen shots of messages and emails from ebay. Ebay shouldn't take money out of my credit card before i received right return item.

I had Ebay for a few weeks, just buying a couple of things. Nothing goes wrong, HOWEVER whenever *I* try to sell something? PERMANENT BAN and absolutely no explanation as to why, just "We feel you pose a risk to our community" I was just trying to sell a stupid headset and it asks for my SSN, I did NOT put it in, there was on option to do that when the item sells. For some reason after I clicked it, it didn't even post my listing, AND it says "We can't confirm your identity so try again later" What happens later? I get an email saying my account was suspended and can no longer use Ebay. By the way not the first time this happens, in fact this was my second account that got banned from them. My first account it went the same way, except I thought it was because in the listing I kept forgetting to add information. But this time I made sure I put as much info on the item as possible, so the only thing I *did wrong* was not put in my SSN, which how could I? With how unreliable Ebay is, I'm sure even if I DID put my info they would have STILL banned me. No I will not use Ebay ever again, which is unfortunate, as there are many items there that are for cheap, but getting items for cheap is not worth the crappy customer service. That's another thing, on my first account I had emailed them at least 4 times asking for them to reconsider or explain why, they give me automated messages and don't even reconsider or explain. So yeah, Ebay is extremely unreliable and lazy, will look for another alternative for this.

I ask for my money back, the seller and ebay claim I have misunderstood the listing, so I end up with jacket that should belong in gabage bin. So what I have learn from this is that I will never again buy ebay. I have start buy things from ALI EXPRESS and I find that I can communicate with seller from day one, and cheaper. HAPPY SHOPPING

I've been on ebay for over 20 years as a seller and a buyer. They have made many great improvements over the years, but it seems to balance out with the horrible "dis-improvements". You used to have control over how much you wanted to sell your items for. They had "Buy it now" mixed with auctions. Great idea! You could start an auction at $25 then add a $30 buy it now option. Then ebay decided sellers should not be allowed to totally choose the auction starting price. It HAD to be a minimum of 30% less than the buy it now. It's my item I'm selling, why is ebay telling me how much I can start my auction price at? They used to have an option for returns of anywhere between 3 and 30 days. Ebay then decided I have to accept returns for 30 days at a minimum or not at all. I don't want a buyer purchasing my item, using it for 30 days, then returning it in worse condition with me having to refund them. (think power tools, etc) 3 days is more than enough time to check it out, make sure it works etc. Also ebay got rid of Paypal. They do not allow me to choose how a buyer will pay me. Now they demand access to your bank account for direct deposits. They also fully support scam buyers. I sold a used working electronic device AS-IS, no returns. (delicate item). Showed in the pictures the item functioned as is should. Seller gets the item, then files a claim with ebay saying it did not work. I accepted the return to be nice anyway. Seller sends me back the same model, but it was damaged. Obviously fried by them. I had detailed pics of what I sold and sent. Showed ebay pics of the the damaged item the buyer sent back and that it was different from what I sent. Ebay sided with the buyer, refunded them, and made me pay shipping both ways. If you read ebays forums, there is horror story after horror story of ebay screwing over sellers. My only hope is that an honest competing auction site finally gets big enough to compete with ebay so I can switch over to them and ditch ebay for good.

I've been using Twice both to buy and sell to for about 3 years. It's true, occasionally there's the low offer but, if you think about it, in most cases you're sending them garments that have been worn and they're going to try to resell them. I've had one Coach purse rejected for spots and there probably were spots and I wouldn't want to buy a used purse with spots. Overall my experience has been quite pleasant. I sometimes do the PayPal option but I generally prefer the store credit. I have purchased 3 pairs of Hudson jeans in my size for a fraction of the cost retail and actually free to me because I used store credit. Each pair has been perfect (one was even the exact length for me -- I'm short!). I'm a mom of 5 and buying retail (for me) usually means hitting the the clearance racks and that can be quite a chore with children in tow. I love the option of shopping online and finding couture at prices that even I can afford, I'm able to wear something besides the Mom Uniform of yoga pants and a t-shirt occasionally and feel a little fancy. I'd absolutely recommend this site. It is NOT A SCAM. Their return process is amazing too (I've only had to return about 4 items and all of them were in perfect condition, they just didn't fit me). They've recently launched their mens site and that's great as well. If you did have a not so happy experience, try again because it really does end up being worth it. If I can give advice for selling: read their policies and look at the brands they accept, it makes all the difference. They even break it down so you can see what you'll possibly make low-high for each item they accept. And, if you don't like the offer and you really don't want to lose the items you sent in, pay the $4.95 and they will send them back to you, so you're only out the cost of a cup of coffee.

I created an account to sale a single item and immediately received a to-good-to-be-true direct offer by a new user with zero reviews. After accepting the offer and invoicing the buyer, I immediately received emails asking me to email pictures and text my Venmo for payment... an obvious scammer. I notified eBay that I suspected fraud, but never received a response. After a very convoluted process to cancel the sale because of non-payment, I posted the item again. This time it went to auction and in the finals moments before the auction closed, a new user again made a winning bid and requested that I communicate with them outside of eBay. I notified eBay again that I suspected fraud and had to cancel the sale again. After several weeks of headaches and attempts to be scammed, I finally just accepted a low offer from a user with several good reviews and shipped my item to them the next day. Payment was received and eBay took their fees. Two months later I get an email from eBay saying: "We wanted to let you know that your eBay account has been permanently suspended because of activity that we believe was putting the eBay community at risk. We understand that this must be frustrating, but this decision was not made lightly and it's important that we keep our marketplace safe for everyone." This cryptic, vague response and action is laughable given my attempts to let them know that other users were trying to scam me. It certainly makes it an easy decision to never use eBay again. This experience convinced me that it's now an easy platform for scammers. Good luck to anyone using the platform as a new user that doesn't have multiple five star reviews. I'm nearly certain you will be a target of scammers without any response or help from eBay and then eBay will eventually turn around and suspend you for being a target of fraud.

Tip for consumers:
Not a good place for new users since you will not have any legitimate reviews and will be a target for fraud. eBay was useless as the sharks circled and then suspended me months later.
