“Ebay to my rescue!”

Ebay sorted my problem in full and deserve 5 stars as they are fair in the end. Thank Mr Ebay. Please do stop such practices adopted by sellers as that will increase public confidence.

A seller reported a package delivered to my address. We do not have USPS delivery here everything is left at our local office or PO Box when possible. I continued to check the post office for over a week with the postmaster. The package never arrived. I contacted the seller who said it was signed for, but it was never signed for because I am the only one who signs for anything or checks the mail. Ebay closed the case telling me no refund would be sent. There is no way this package was ever delivered, and absolutely no way I signed for it. Ebay is supposed to provide Buyer protection. They do not! I will never use Ebay again.

Bought a used turntable listed as good condition. The seller wanted pickup only and cash. I paid via Paypal.
Got the t. T. home. Tonearm falls at 7" point on records, speed off, pitch selector defective, on turn off tonearm goes to record, shellhead missing attachement screw
Filed with ebay for refund. They automatically beleive the seller & say it wasn't defective. Tried taking off platter to check system but it won't come off. Seller must have screwed up t. T.-was missing hold down screws
Beware of ebay refund policy.

Ebay was running like a well oiled machine, I think I need to stay off of there more. They are making changes just before the holiday season, not a good sign.

I am both seller and buyer. From both ends: buyers are way better protected than the sellers and there is a lot of room for a scam no matter how genuine seller you are. For other buyers: if your item came as not described, you can always start a case with eBay and most likely it will be decided in your favour. So there is no need to leave negative reviews - I guess many people who did that just don't know about these features. If the case is decided in your favour, you will be fully refunded and seller forced to accept return and charged full amount.
However, it does not work the other way round. In general, sellers are way more exposed than buyers - we can't even start a case against dishonest buyer and by default the buyer is always right. I've had few issues already despite being super transparent in my descriptions, posting high res photos of actual items + packaging, sending them exactly as described and my items are not cheap (1000+). And every time I am thinking - what will the buyer complain about this time?
The good thing about eBay is very accessible customer support: you can email, call and chat. However, the outcome really depends on the competency of the person sitting at the other end and they are not always trained to help you solve cases which are even moderately complex. I'd expect better service and better protection for the fees eBay charges you off every sale.
Still they are way better than Etsy and other selling websites although there is a lot of work to be done to make it really safe trading environment.

If you are a business/ private seller trying to sell anything on this marketplace PLEASE be aware OR, if you can, AVOID their unfair return policy you would end up losing ££££ selling here. All your feedback worth nothing to them if have 1000's positive reviews and a buyer with 0 reviews would tell a lie they will believe him. If a buyer open ''Not as described'' claim about a product you selling even thought you sold 100's of them without any single issue they will side by him and I was told by eBay customer service '' We know he's lying but we can't do anything about it you have to accept the loss, this is our policy.''
Your money protection as a seller is ZERO.

I've been a member of ebay for more than 5 years and I'm very happy with the services. Sometimes the shipping takes too long but I guess it's because most of the sellers are from China ;)

First off, I would like to say that I've been a member of eBay as a seller and buyer since 2006 (11 years ago from when I'm writing this), and I have had no prior offenses or strikes against my account until this past week. I've also had hundreds of positive ratings with a 100% positive feedback. I listed an item in an incorrect category when trying to get the selling listing together, eBay sent me a message and immediately restricted my account indefinitely without warning. I called customer support and the agent on the phone was SO RUDE to me and was telling me all these other ways he would restrict my account for trying to lift the permanent ban on my account for listing items. The fees are also 13-15% of your sales so it's not worth your time to even list on there. There are so many other selling platforms that have much better customer service than this. EBay doesn't even have a strike policy, you screw up once and you're completely cut off. For clothing, shoes, and accessories, use Poshmark, StockX, and GOAT. They are way better than eBay. I'm gladly taking my business elsewhere. After being with them 11 years, I get treated like a doormat. Horrible customer service.

I have eagerly awaited my sons drum set, and it finally came today. Not at all what I expected, no where near the same set I ordered. They said it was for a junior and even adult, way off. My neighbors 5 year old towered over it. Supposed to be wood drum cylinders, but its all plastic. The company is called City Green and they sell tons of different products thru ebay and amazon, but I cant nail down a web site for them because they email me from all sorts of different email addresses. Saw some bad reviews on them claiming fraudulent practices. Someone from the company made a reply to the accusations by saying all the consumer issues were due to the race of the co. That seems ridiculous to me. Does anyone have any info on this merchandise co. Called City Green? (not the landscape co) The few reviews I could find said they use alias names to sell on ebay and Amazon, so they are hard to nail down. Well, hope I don't get stuck with this toy. Just for the record, I read the specs like 5 times and emailed them to make sure of what I was getting. They assured med it was right for my 13 year old. The add for the drum set is still on ebay right now.

Very expensive to use. Fees altogether total more than 15% of sale price, this for the few pennies of support that they provide. Horrible. I am looking for an alternative.

Verified purchase

I bought 2 18V batteries which the Ebay website lied about being exactly the make and model I was looking for. They cost $30.50. I received batteries with no make or model numbers except Made in China. These would not fit the Black and Decker trimmer I ordered them for. Reason: They were built with 3 prongs not 2 as my originals. So, I returned them. Seller messaged saying "We gave you full refund". But Ebay did not give me full refund. They charged me $14.03 for return shipping. Seller again said it should be $30.50, contact Ebay Customer Service. I did. They were dishonest, lying, sending irrelevant messages about how to return items; asking if I had a pleasant return experience, and much other pure non-sense. At one point, they said they did give me full refund but it might take a month or so to see the additional credit on my visa account which is an outrageous lie. To anyone considering buying things from Ebay: You will be dealing with a greedy, dishonest, fraudulent organization who will charge you money to return a product that they sold you by lying about what it is. Ebay is the exact opposite of Amazon. I can't believe Ebay is still in business.

GoodBye Ebay

Been using ebay for 10 years and loved it now with all the FEE changes ill never use it again. Why on earth do they think we will give them our Bank Details when there are other auction sites that we can use with paypal and many of them are even FREE.
These new changes are a Big Mistake Ebay and you are going to lose LOYAL Long time users/customers like myself,
Talk with PAYPAL and let us continue to make transactions like we have always done, Its not to late.

Eh, I rarely use eBay ever since I've had two bad experiences with them. I placed a bid on an item a long time ago and there was no way to cancel it after I found one for cheaper on Amazon. I called, etc and I continuously, to this day, get emails about that damn bid for the wallet in my cart still. OBVIOUSLY I DON'T WANT IT!

I feel like Amazon will be more efficient, and it's also less confusing than eBay. I used to like it when I was younger, but now that I place my own orders on their site I've realized they're not as good as people make them out to be.

Item arrived broken. It was 3 weeks of fighting Ebay, Dell and seller. I lost $200 in physical money dealing with this, 12 hours of work ($210 effectively lost) and about 30 hours of personal time fighting this.

Seller refused to accept the return unless I removed my negative feedback. I told him I will change it to neutral if he accepts it, but based on above reasons listed, I refuse to say I was satisfied.

Ebay then went behind my back, without contacting me first, and removed my rating. Seller then told me he called Ebay and simply asked them to remove it and they did.

Seller has 1500 positive reviews, 1 neutral, 0 negative. The reason it's so perfect is because the seller will refuse to help/bribe you over reviews, and Ebay sided with seller on removing my review without even asking. Essentially, their rating system is 100% rigged.

Item also took 5 weeks to ship using the global shipping program and costed me $100, however my return shipping was 5 days for non-express, meaning they could have shipped it direct in far less time for less price ($80).

Entire system is corrupt. I recommend never using Ebay for anything that may need to be returned if faulty (AKA computers, computer parts, etc).

GREAT site.

Yes, there CAN be bad transactions, but I have been a longtime member of eBay and have NEVER encountered one.

SUGGESTIONS:
-Only bid/purchase items from sellers with 98%+ feedback
-Don't buy things from a brand new user
-ONLY use PayPal to pay
-ALWAYS read the entire auction before bidding. Don't blame the seller for only accepting Paypal, fees, or taxes that you did not know about because you did not fully read the auction first.

Being a smart shopper is a must with eBay. Do so and you'll have no problems.

EBay is not the same anymore, a couple of years ago I use to find very good deals on eBay, but the last 3 years All I See is Chinese vendors misleading customers. For Ex: I'm looking for e leather pumps and I found a couple that I liked but when you look at the real description of the item it is described as synthetic material while the post says LEATHER! How can they get away with this?
And there is no way to filter these vendor even if you choose Only North America or US! They are EVERYWHERE!...I was wondering if the Chinese bought eBay too?!

I regret to say that my selling experience on eBay was extremely disappointing. My journey as a seller was plagued by a series of frustrating issues. Firstly, my digital items, once sold, vanished without a trace, leaving me in a bind. Additionally, my funds were put on hold, creating financial inconvenience.

A major concern was the lack of seller protection from eBay. My account was restricted without any prior notice, which felt unfair and abrupt. When I reached out to customer service for assistance, the experience worsened. The customer service representatives were not only rude but also disrespectful, lacking basic courtesy and professionalism.

Despite providing ample evidence, including invoices and buyers' messages to support my case, the response was baffling. The customer support team repeatedly asked for a tracking number for my digital items, which was an absurd request considering the nature of the products. I had to explain multiple times that the items I sold were digital and shared the digital products through ebay messaging system, but it seemed like my words fell on deaf ears. Instead of receiving help from the support team, they were not able to answer my questions, and left me dealing with harsh accusations of having sold used digital items.

This experience has left me disillusioned with eBay. The platform appears to be riddled with scammers, and, unfortunately, sellers like myself receive little to no support from eBay in resolving issues. My advice to any potential seller is to steer clear of eBay. There are better, more seller-friendly platforms out there that offer the support and protection that eBay sorely lacks.

Scammers will scam you. It sucks but it will happen. Main problem is that eBay has policies and procedures in place that support people scamming you.

Ex. Buy anything on eBay that needs freight shipping and is over $700; lets say an outboard motor. Once you win the auction, pay with credit card. Once you pay, wait about three hours and then submit, through ebay, that you haven't received the item yet (duh, you just won the auction). When item arives, don't sign for it or sign with unintelligible "X". Then claim you didn't receive it. EBay will give you your money back. Now you have the outboard and your money... free outboard. The great part of this is that ebay will demand the money back from the seller... "Because they didn't ship it!"
Dosn't matter if you have tracking, signature or video of person getting item... that's it your done.

Tip for consumers:
I was with eBay for almost 20 years. The guy that scammed me was a known criminal with hundreds of fake reviews for cheap crap.

Products used:
I sold a natural gas pump for $1700. It was somewhat big and rather heavy. I used Uship (an eBay company/partner) for the freight. Guy paid and then claimed he didn't get it (less than 5 hours). I lost my pump and eBay took the $1700 back. Not only did I get screwed I got double screwed.

Started as a NEW customer, ordered a car part I needed. Seller received my money, I received the part. A day later my account was not only suspended, but completely shut down! Chatted, emailed, called by phone, yet got NO UNDERSTANDABLE EXPLANATION, and no chance to figure out the problem, or any solution. Their "algorithm " detected something is all I was told. SCREW EBAY!

Have been an ebay member for over 20 years as both a buyer and a seller. Recently wanted to sell again, but could not get help in resolving what I believed to be a simple issue. They're very good at setting up your credit card for "payments" very quickly, but when it comes to setting up a bank account in order to "receive payments", well that's just not something they are concerned about in any legitimate way. I called in many times, each time trying to make the question as simple as possible, but still no help, just circle talk, silly questions not pertaining to what my simple issue was. I finally gave up and decided to just go ahead and delete the account, 20 plus years of feedback and all, just flush it. But oh wait, turns out they have to like and approve "my choice" on that, so I'm feeling fairly comfortable in saying that of course they won't close the account that is mine, right? With my personal account info, payment info, banking info etc. Just another rich persons greedy business that specializes in the manipulation and exploitation of the average ordinary everyday person. I'm done with this slimy auction site, regardless whether they approve of my choice to close it or not. That is something they should be sued for like "yesterday", not closing an account when a customer chooses! Ridiculous!

I bought a power energy saver which is supposed to save electricity when you plug it in it does not it's a complete fraud and freak once opened you can easily see there are only transistors in there to keep the green light on the item is also unsafe I've reported it to eBay who did not listen right away it took me to report this to the IRS the Better Business Bureau and homeland security Because these items are coming from China defective from the very beginning and meant to destroy or hurt people here

Tip for consumers:
EBay needs to be more consistent in stopping individuals like this from violating eBay security policies which they openly admit to selling items that could damage property and hurt individuals

Products used:
I did not purchase this item or anything like it again until I get proper information from my license electrician..
