“Ebay to my rescue!”

Ebay sorted my problem in full and deserve 5 stars as they are fair in the end. Thank Mr Ebay. Please do stop such practices adopted by sellers as that will increase public confidence.

“Ebay did not honor guarantee”

A seller reported a package delivered to my address. We do not have USPS delivery here everything is left at our local office or PO Box when possible. I continued to check the post office for over a week with the postmaster. The package never arrived. I contacted the seller who said it was signed for, but it was never signed for because I am the only one who signs for anything or checks the mail. Ebay closed the case telling me no refund would be sent. There is no way this package was ever delivered, and absolutely no way I signed for it. Ebay is supposed to provide Buyer protection. They do not! I will never use Ebay again.

I've been using eBay since it's inception almost 20 years ago. I have approx. 1,200 5-star ratings as both a buyer and a seller (mostly buyer). Last week I ordered something that was not delivered. The shipping information said it was delivered on April 1st, however, it also said it was still in the hands of the USPS at 2:54 AM April 2nd. I contacted the seller, they got back to me & said they'd look into it then never responded again. I filed a case at the appropriate time and eBay immediately closed it saying it showed as delivered. It also said "Final Decision". I was incensed to say the least. After following several links I saw a tiny link which said "Don't agree w/ this ruling? File an appeal." I clicked it and wrote to eBay. This time asking the to seriously look at the shipping information and that I was a 20-year loyal customer and had filed less than 10 claims over the years. Last night they wrote me back that they were refunding my money because upon further research they deemed my package had been stolen. I do not think they would have reconsidered had I not mentioned my loyalty to their site, but I'm pleased with the outcome. It took some extra work (remember, they are on a skeleton crew due to the current crisis), but in the end I'm pleased.

Been a member since 1995 as a buyer. Really have not any bad experiences with 100s of transactions. Sellers usually are easy to deal with and pricing is great.

I've been a constant user of eBay - both as a seller and buyer and having said that, let's look at why I didn't give them a 4-star rating:
1. EBay is the land of fees. If they can find a way to charge you a fee for it, they will. I'm kind of surprised they don't charge a "log-in" fee for every time you sign in. Maybe they just haven't thought of it yet.
2. If you're selling, don't sell things overseas! The only items I've ever had that have supposedly gotten lost have been items shipped overseas - and I question whether or not they were really lost - and those have all been $50+ items. Hmmmm
3. As a rule, if someone has a low feedback rating (less than 100), it's probably best to steer clear of them for bigger ticket items, but give them a chance - everybody started out with a 0 rating at one time or another. Just order a small items initially and see how they perform. The seller will appreciate it and you might find someone you want to deal with again in the future.

Overall, no real problems with eBay other than the overseas sales and the fees - they really do need to cut down on those!

I HAVE BEEN SELLING ON EBAY NEAR 25 YEARS AND PACKAGES RARELY GET TO EUROPE IN LESS THAN 30 DAYS POST COVID. PACKAGE ARRIVED 4 DAYS AFTER EBAY GAVE BUYER BACK HIS MONEY. SO I AM OUT PRODUCT, MONEY $500.0 AND INSURANCE WONT PAY OUT BECAUSE TRACKING SHOWS IT ARRIVED. ****LOOP HOLE... OPEN DISPUTE EARLY, LET EBAY CLOSE IT AND ONCE IT ARRIVES IT IS FREE. SHAREHOLDERS WILL LOVE THIS AND EBAY DOES NOT GET PAID EITHER.

Just a heads up on these products on this site! If you are looking to invest in coins, gold or silver bullion,. I have not seen a single listing worth the money! Maybe a combination of high seller fees and greed but, i see people buying these items, at way over spot price,. And then alot of the listings also have shipping charges! You can simply google,. Gold and silver bullion,. And find a respectable dealer! They charge a couple dollars over spot,. But you know you're getting silver and not fake crap! Then when it comes time to sell your metal,. You have a receipt where it came from,. Which adds buyer confidence,. And in turn will get a better offer on your stack! Tell them you got it from ebay,. And see what price you get! You spend $10-15 over spot by buying there(according to todays prices),. Then you take a beating on the tail end,. To cash in! It just doesnt make sense! If you stack bullion,. Do yourself a favor and look into any of the respected bullion houses,. And not only save,. But get way more metal for your hard earned money!

"DO NOT SELL ON EBAY! If you do not sell on Ebay regularly then DO NOT sell on Ebay if you expect payment for your items before 7 to 10 days AFTER you sell your item! I have perfect selling and buyer ratings through Ebay but because I don't meet their volume they are holding 1200 dollars for an item I don't even have anymore because I had to ship it right away for the buyer. I NEEDED THIS MONEY ASAP FOR CHRISTMAS! Ebay NEVER told me until AFTER the sale that I would not be getting my money for 7 to 10 days. If I HAD KNOWN I would NEVER have used Ebay for selling, I would've stuck with etsy or Facebook where you get YOUR MONEY IMMEDIATELY!"

Better return policy and they don't censor your reviews. You can find ANYTHING on Ebay and they have strated shipping things much faster than before since Amazon offered free 2 day shipping with prime membership.

I've bought and sold on eBay for many years as it's still the biggest, most legitimate place for new and pre-owned items. EBay has changed the rules so that sellers can get completely scammed by dishonest buyers no matter how detailed and accurate the listing is and it's happening more and more so I don't bother to sell anymore. The fees to sell have risen drastically and the buyer has all of the rights, the seller none.

The feedback system is a great idea-those of you who are complaining about things you have purchased need to look closer at a seller's feed back and actually read the comments before you buy. I have virtually never received anything I've purchased that hasn't been exactly as described.

And finally, like most companies who are "too big to care", it is virtually impossible to contact a real human being for issues and questions. They simply don't want to be bothered and there is no phone number for customer service. If you email them, you will get back a "form letter" response that doesn't address the issue. Very frustrating!

Absolutely disgraceful customer service and seller care. I was scammed selling at item and simply told its not their problem, even although the scam buyer had a legitimate account. I waited 2 months for responses from ebay and got nothing unless I repeatedly chased them. My account is now closed. DO NOT BUY OR SELL THROUGH EBAY. SCAMMERS ARE RIFE AND EBAY CANNOT CONTROL THEM AND WILL NOT HELP YOU.

EBay's buyer protection plan is a total scam. I recently had the unfortunate experience of finding out the hard way. I ordered a camera and due to its price tag, I requested it be delivered with my signature upon receipt. However FedEx screwed up and left the package with someone else who signed for it instead. As I live in a large building without a doorman there was no trace of the package. FedEx as usual were unhelpful and dismissive. They didn't sent me the proof of signature, which I requested twice so I could try to locate the person who received my package. EBay was equally dismissive claiming I wouldn't get a refund because the item was delivered to the correct address. Despite numerous emails, they never acknowledged that my package was delivered to someone else by mistake despite proof of this. So eBay has stolen my money without providing any kind of buyer protection. It's a total scam. I will never ever use again after almost 20 years on it. Meanwhile, I've asked my bank to step in, hoping they'll be more helpful than eBay and FedEx so I can get my money back. Shame on eBay!

Some of their sellers don't accept returns and I just got ripped off $44 for a dvd that was poorly wrapped without any kind of protection and the condition of the burnt disc was unwatchable. I worked on getting a refund from ebay for 2 days and it's still not resolved so I just gave up. Their help techs are untrained and don't understand when you explain a simple problem to them. And then when you think an issue is resolved and over, you find out later in the day that they actually DID NOT understand and suddenly you're saddled with three new issues. Customer service is almost impossible to get ahold of and to talk to a live person is only after a person has been dealing with ebay for HOURS. Their customer service numbers do not work--they just ring and ring. I do know that some sellers remove all their negative feedback and I believe this seller I got ripped off from did just that--she has a %100 positive feedback. That's complete bull bc who has a perfect rating especially when they've been selling on ebay for years? Nobody--that's impossible for anyone. But ebay then is suppose to handle it but talking to them is nothing but exhausting and a waste of time.

Got that right... somehow Ebay connected my guest purchase to my Paypal account to charge $27.75 to return something that came in the wrong color. I can't get the money credited back (even though there is no indication of a charge to be made, nor authorization given for such) because I accidentally indicated 'buyers remorse' instead of 'item received not as described'. After 50 minutes of discussion with 3 different people (none of which speaks clear English) I finally hung up. The seller already credited me back the full amount. Ebay sent me a return label to ship the item across the country to North Carolina to a bogus address that doesn't exist. The item came back a week later looking like it had traveled around the world via chimpanzees. The seller told me for the trouble to keep the item, or whatever I wanted to do with it, and gave me the full credit. Ebay, on the other hand, is impossible: the first 2 representatives understood and agreed that I should get a credit, but the 3rd (very poor English) only wanted to argue. For the $27.75 at least I wasted a lot of their time. Que sera!

STAY AWAY from Zamek Limited posing as UK Toy Wholesaler on Alibaba. This is a fraudulent company that states 50% at purchase (wire transfer sent $1,37.40 USD) 50% at delivery. First 50% to Barclay Bank London then received email won't ship out until another 50% sent to a Nigerian bank. Danny Bogden (supposed Marketing Manager *******@gmail.com) is very responsive to emails up to the point you send money then MANY emails later-no response! Wishing I had read this jabber because losing my money.

Live and learn... I needed a fancy work computer and made the unfortunate decision to purchase a used Surface Pro 4 from an Ebay Dealer... Turns out the unit was a bogus attempt to hide a very badly damaged unit. After almost a month of back and forth with eBay and Paypal, even having Microsoft write a full documented report of the cover-up attempt, I received word this morning that Paypal had sided with the merchant and there would be no return or refund for my $800 purchase. They did say I could appeal, so this evening I went back to the Mircosoft store to meet with the Store Manager to get yet another evaluation of the fraudulent purchase. Only things didn't turn out that way, Mircosoft didn't want to write another evaluation, they had decided they wanted to make things right and refund me the amount this unit cost when it was new...$1250! I said but that's way more than what I paid for the damaged unit, she said I know use it to buy extra protection for your new one ( I bought a brand new one from them for only $899) They even gave me the student discount! Way to go Microsoft! I have learned a lesson never buy anything from Ebay or use Paypal... so much for their buyer's guarantee...

I was a seller for over 10 years. One day they changed my password without telling me. I had no access to customer service. When I finally got them to answer me back after a month of calling and writing, they denied me access to my account and told me that the complaint resolution process would eventually refund all my buyers. I had to report them to the better business bureau to get access to my account and refund customers. After I did that, they labeled me a threat to the community and permanantly banned me. They still owe me significant money. It's genuinely sad to see what has happened in the last few years to a once decent company. Their fees and restrictions and ridiculous policies toward sellers are terrible. Their customer service is beyond incompetent. Their community is notoriously prone to scam artists. They treat legitimate sellers like criminals while allowing actual thieves to run rampant all over the site. It's almost impossible to establish yourself as a new seller due to the heavy restrictions on new accounts. There are much better options for buying and selling and they are rapidly taking market share away from this dying company.

Tip for consumers:
Use any other site.

I wouldn't recommend eBay as a selling site because they charge way too much, cutting into your profits. They also made it more complicated to collect your money.

I bid on item, won it, went to pay and seller cancelled it (found out thru email she sent me by accident asking about a "PRIVATE OFFER" so she obviously got a better offer AFTER the bidding ended) and to top it off she posts that "I" canceled the order!? I then tried to report her and after HOURS/DAYS lost thru Cust. Svc NIGHTMARE (following their instructions, which just made all worse!), "I" then get a auto email from them threatening that I could be banned from ebay for breach of their policy!?
From now on AMAZON gets ALL MY BUSINESS and I will spread the word if co's/people i know plan to use ebay, I will tell them to try ETSY INSTEAD (at least ETSY is HONEST!).

I've been an eBay person for more than 10 years and have a 100% rating. They used to be great. Then they started changing their rules and there is no way to get a resolution to problems, unless you really find talking for hours to a person in India who's reading off a reply sheet fulfilling. Case in point: I was selling a dvd set of a tv show I own. They pulled the listing for violating the selling practices, saying that there were questions about it's authenticity. I still have the receipt from when I bought the set at Best Buy. Not only can I not get the decision reversed, I can't email them a copy of my receipt, I can't speak to a manager because "they don't speak to people" (told to me by the mid-level manager of the call center), but now my account has been tagged and I'm on some sort of probation. This isn't the only thing they've done that has been annoying and flat out wrong, it's just the latest in a LONG list of affronts. I desperately wish there was a good ebay alternative. *sigh*

Also have to wait 14days before releasing your funds.
