“Ebay to my rescue!”

Ebay sorted my problem in full and deserve 5 stars as they are fair in the end. Thank Mr Ebay. Please do stop such practices adopted by sellers as that will increase public confidence.

“Ebay did not honor guarantee”

A seller reported a package delivered to my address. We do not have USPS delivery here everything is left at our local office or PO Box when possible. I continued to check the post office for over a week with the postmaster. The package never arrived. I contacted the seller who said it was signed for, but it was never signed for because I am the only one who signs for anything or checks the mail. Ebay closed the case telling me no refund would be sent. There is no way this package was ever delivered, and absolutely no way I signed for it. Ebay is supposed to provide Buyer protection. They do not! I will never use Ebay again.

If you're trying to sell a few of your own items on ebay then please save your time, money and energy to find a different site or just gift/donate them to people. It is just not worth it. The fees alone will devalue what you think you're getting for your items. In addition they will never charge the appropriate amount for shipping, they will take fees off of your shipping cost and then for some reason randomly not charge the initial shipping price until you receive a monthly invoice that is an absurd amount. On selling $100 worth of items in 3 auctions I owed $32 on the invoice. $20 was for a shipping label that they only charged $18 for, took a $3 fee from and I still spent $16 out of pocket for the materials to ship.

Honestly just save yourself some frustration and get the item to someone local through craigslist or word of mouth.

Ebay has become a dreadful experience. I warn anyone to be cautious both buying and selling.

Also Ebay's fees now around 11% and they are putting a hold even on accredited, good sellers.

Try Gumtree or other creditable marketplaces.

Ebay has become an awful experience

Tip for consumers:
Be wary buying on Ebay.

Love this site, but don't expect to retire selling on ebay unless you have amazing margins and enough volume to justify using a packaged pricing plan through ebay. Auction fees will eat at your bottom if you pay as you post, do the math and make sure you are actually making money when you sell on this site.

I have been a happy eBay user for nearly 20 years. I mostly buy and have found eBay to have the best buyer protection of any site or app out there. I have had mostly wonderful transactions with top-notch sellers, and the few problems were easy to resolve and I was able to warn other buyers through the feedback system (unlike places like Poshmark, Mercari and Vinted that don't let you rate for transactions cancelled by the seller). I look forward to another 20 years of shopping this terrific site.

Tip for consumers:
Shop around, eBay doesn't always have the best prices but they do have the best buyer protection.

You may click on the "7 day listing" option, but you only get 6 days. Why? EBay takes 24 hours to check your listing for anything untoward, which makes perfect sense to me, however your clock is running during this time so your 7-day listing only actually gets 6 days of exposure to potential buyers.

I have been selling on ebay for several years and have had an overall good experience. The one thing I do not like about ebay is how hard it is to talk to a real person. Also ebay is not very supportive of protecting the seller from irresponsible buyers who give negative feedback that is unsupported. The best thing about ebay is the international reach for sellers. Most people on ebay are good, responsible buyers and seller, but as has been pointed out watch for feedback ratings before doing business with sellers or buyers.

Recently, my brother helped to sell couches that were in great condition but due to moving, they needed to go. Since my brother was handling the selling a buyer contacted him with this shady message. "I will send you $800 (the couches were $400) please send the rest of the money to this account. I will be sending people to get the couches. They went through the trouble of sending a receipt making it look like they actually made the deposit. However, this has happened to us before so immediately my brother knew it was a scam and once he said "Do not contact any more or legal action will be taken", they quit sending messages saying please deposit the money asap. Please stay away from anyone who says they'll send way more money than what you're asking and someone else to get the items they are scam artists who want your hard earned money and your stuff!

Now I got some great deals on here... but not every seller is trustworthy. Some will scam you into by putting fake positive reviews on there seller site and tricking you into thinking they're legit... And overall it's a nice cheap place to shop. But I would recommend fully checking out the seller page before you try to buy a too Good of a deal anything.

Can give 0 if there is such an option. Their customer service is so terrible, the worst in the U.S. I have never experienced any other online seller website. I never receive the item, but they don't offer a refund, even though they have a money-back policy. They don't protect their customers at all. How dare they charge their customers if the package was never received. This is the first try for eBay and will never ever buy anything from them. Trash.

I'm not a big fan of ebay anymore - they charge too many fees for the service they're providing. Additionally, I think there are too many cheap and bad quality products from professional sellers that just destroy the whole idea of ebay.

I've been using it for ages... it's difficult to protect genuine customers from some "sharks" out there (both sellers and buyers can misbehave and ruin it for all). Initially (decades ago) the bias was toward the seller and that produced some really ugly monsters... things have changed though
The customer service is always attentive and considerate while juggling to try and please both sellers and buyers (often these are both in good faith and a compromise has to be found).
Bottom line? If you are consistently honest (buyer or seller or both)... you are going to be recognized and get that extra protection which is going to be useful when the odd ugly character tries to take advantage of you and of such open system...

The worst customer care that doesn't care about their clients and want themselves figure out the jungle their programmers setup for them.
Every aspect of the company becomes worse and worse every time I tried selling on their website.
More and more problems arose with every sale I was making and ebay doesn't do anything to resolve the issues that become apparent.
They want to distance themselves as far as possible from the process claiming they're middleman. But they're first to make the worse decisions when scammers attack they're honest sellers.
It's the worst company out there. Hopefully competition will eat them alive and take this frustration of all the frustrated customers...

I am a passionate online shopper and I really enjoy that I can buy anything from all over the world. The prices good especially if I can bid on an auction. Bidding can be a great game as well. Of course, I had some bad deals but overall I am satisfied with the platform. When I didn't get a product I always got back my money.
I have to tell I am only a buyer on eBay so I don't know anything about the seller's side

I submitted FIVE sell orders to this company over two weeks ago, they suddenly announced they are merging with eBay and are no longer accepting orders from that day onwards leaving their customers to pay return shipping or they will donate them (ie put them on eBay). I will be disputing these shipping charges on my card, I have never had to return an order I sent to Twice and they certainly would have paid for these. What a terrible way to treat your loyal customers. They went from a great customer service oriented company to the same corporate jerks that eBay is. Good luck with that.

The majority of eBay orders are problematic, many times the purchase arrives very late, many purchases do not arrive at all, much of the information provided regarding the reliability of the sellers is not correct in the results test,
When demanding a refund, they delay and postpone to later dates, which is a vile thing and disrespects the customer, you should stay away from this platform

Usually the purchasing experience at this place is bad

Anyone else feel the same? Ebay use to be a great place to find bargains. But for a couple of years now it seems like just another overpriced retail outlet. Also, ever since the new "views" reporting (my items use to get on average 10-15 views per week and now get zero) and I believe it is due to ebay's new "promote your item" fee which buries items if you don't pay the additional fee. Seems to just be another way for ebay to make money.

I have rented several textbooks through Half.com, simply because they are usually the cheapest. However, EVERY single time, the return label is not available when it comes time to return the item. I will email them several times, oftentimes taking a week or more to respond (with an unhelpful response at that). In the meantime, half.com sends me emails every day informing me that my rental is overdue.
Not to mention, that if you try to contact a customer service representative through the phone, they will talk to you for thirty minutes before informing you there is nothing they can do since they are Ebay employees and apparently Half.com has no customer service representatives of their own. The service is awful and not worth the few extra bucks saved, in my opinion.

I've been using Ebay for over 10 years but the one time I buy something and it doesn't get delivered (meaning item in hand) for whatever reason (USPS inaccuracy, theft), you are completely stuck paying for thin air. Which can be pretty expensive, as far as something that is free and intangible goes.

Amazon, has taken care of me when something like this happened, a couple years ago (because thankfully it doesn't happen often). I refuse to buy anything on Ebay, ever again unless I need a kidney and ebay is my only choice as I've exhausted ever resource for procuring one know to man, then maybe and that is a very very liberal use of the word, maybe.

What confuses me about this site is that all their items are professionally photographed, and authenticity is guaranteed.

I purchased a really cute J Crew leopard print cardigan and what I received was a piece of crap. First of all, it was J Crew OUTLET, which was not disclosed in the description. Factory offers lower price items, and with that, lower quality. The two dots below "J CREW" on the tags are a dead giveaway.

The sweater itself arrived clean and pressed, but shockingly with THREE holes in it. One by the tag and two on the sleeve. How could they have been missed?!

Needless to say I am returning and not using their site again. Do not recommend.

As a buyer I find a good range of choices for the things I want, with very competitive prices. I've never had a problem with any dealer on Ebay. However, I've looked into the nuts and bolts involved as a seller, and in my opinion, there's isn't as much value in that. Real high commissions off the top. I would feel better selling products on Amazon than here.

Tried to order something from a company called four. Nines. Fine. Got a shipping notice and then no product. I emailed them, they responded but still no product. I emailed two more times, no response. When I gave them a bad review I got my money back... imagine that. This was my first and last experience with eBay. Just buy from Amazon, they have a fool proof system and you don't get snotty emails from the vendors.

I've had several sellers cancel without consent on orders place. No valid reason or justification. They op out of selling me a product by saying there is an issue with my address. There has never been an issue with my address but eBay allows them to cancel. Only based on name email address because of my name on account. This violates civic rights because it's based on my ethnicity or religion. Both are a violation of civil rights. People cannot refuse to sell because of sex race religion or ethnicity. I understand that people hate, but hate is not a valid reason to refuse to sale on any platform. I am cancelling my account with eBay. It's not worth it to me to buy on platform if they allow such behavior. I've been a customer for 14yrs. It's now done.

Tip for consumers:
Discrimination is hate and hate is evil.

I've been an eBay member in good standing since 1999, but no more. I only buy or sell occasionally, not regularly. A credit card fraud scammer bought an iPhone I was selling, opened their ebay account the same day, made immediate payment and asked to ship to an alternate address. I said absolutely not, that's fraud. Buyer opened a "no ship" claim against me immediately. Instead of addressing the fraud, eBay sided with the buyer. I never received payment, it was locked in Paypal, and I could not issue refund because of the lock. I will not assist in fraud and eBay doesn't care as long as they get their fees. I'm closing my account.

I have gotten some great items from eBay but I've also been ripped off probably the same amount of times. The worst part is the drop shippers. I ordered a lamp and it came back with a tracking number from Amazon, so I look up the lamp on Amazon and I realized I paid 12$ extra dollars for a drop shipper to place the order on Amazon for me. Then the idiot gives me the wrong tracking number that says it was delivered and handed to someone named Sheldon, so I wasted time arguing with ups on the phone thinking they delivered my item to the wrong address. What a mess! Shopping on eBay is a gamble. Be sure to check rating and look up the products on Google to see if you can get them cheaper elsewhere, because if you can then you know the item is being drop shipped. (look up drop shipping if you don't know what it is).

Kept the lamp because I liked it.

I've had good experiences with ebay overall. I usually buy things that are under $30 just to be safe. Everything I ordered came in good time, the only thing I say to people is DON'T buy things from China. You'll find the same problems on other wholesale site reviews because the products will not be what they look like in the picture or sometimes will just not come in the mail EVER. If you steer clear and look for high feedback ratings on sellers, you should be fine.
