I booked a hotel to coincide with a jazz festival and my 32nd wedding anniversary. Unfortunate my nephew passed form cancer. The funeral is being held during the time I booked the vacation. The small print on the reservation said NO REFUND. I had no luck with Affirm who paid the amt in full. Finally, when i reached out to geta room, I was treated with compassion and respect and within 24 hours Affirm received a refund and I am no longer on the hook for this. They did what affirm did not do in a week in 24hrs, Affirm even asked me to send in a copy of the obituary! When I called the next day, they said they did not ask for it. GETAROOM solved my problem. Bait and switch reservation website. Horrible to non-existent customer service - they are trained and scripted to give you the run around. They always can not find your reservation, can not confirm your identity, will provide a new number for you to call next, and will promise to get back to you in 24-48 hours and never do. Wave goodbye to your $ if you book with them.
Found out I was being charged $60 more via above than when I just called the motel. What it makes me suspect is the sites like above are just a scam and we end up paying more than if we just called the motel ourselves.
Was blindsided with the service charges that are the same cost as one night stay. I tried calling customer service, it was brutal and got hung up on every time. Luckily enough I subscribe to a direct number service for my everyday job and I got the direct line for someone. I would not have been able to make contact if I did not subscribe to a direct number service. Very salty taste in my mouth, I would recommend to not use getaroom.

I had like to get help on the direction as to how to reach the property from the Cebu Airport. Also I need to confirm with the property that they have received my booking. However the number which I get from the internet (*******037 and *******2171) are not able to confirm my bookings with them. I am getting anxious!

It was a good experience. I booked the Millennium hotel in London and got a really good rate. The hotel gave me a decent room and no issues. I wish the site had a few more selection options, but it worked very well for me.
The site charged me twice and then told me it was my fault. Then hung up on me three time and told me that there was nothing that could do. Extremely rude and not refunded my money or did not give me a discount. Asked me if I knew how to read ( Ivan)

I called a number listed in prominent place on hotel website. It was a hotel in Burnaby BC Canada. I live in Canada. Person who answered the phone gave clear impression they were from the hotel and told me hotel was full except for upgraded room. I agreed to upgraded room and the price. I was told because the hotel was full that I had to pay in full and no cancellation allowed. I was never told that the price was in USD so I ended up paying $144 more due to exchange. They refuse to correct. Deceptive and unethical to say the least. What makes it worse they are either owned or affiliated with Expedia. Tried to cancel the charges with credit card company and told it could not be done and told this is a common situation with this company.
While searching for a hotel room at the last minute I started a reservation with getaroom. After I entered my payment info, but BEFORE I completed the reservation, I noticed the $200 service fee. As soon as hit the cancel tab the site push the reservation thru and charged me for it. Within a minute, I called customer support and was told repeatedly that the reservation could not be cancelled. When I asked to speak with a supervisor I was told none were available and that she could get me a callback number to contact them. It's been 3 days, no callback.
Update: After a few days I was contacted by customer support and was given a partial refund from the service fee. I had already used my reservation and while they had no obligation to do anything about my situation, they did it anyhow. Mistakes happen, they compensated me fairly for it when they didn't have to. They made it right.

100% sure it is a scam. They never gave my money back after the hotel accepted my cancellation for COVID. I passed to the a letter from the hotel with the cancellation number. More than 1 month trying to get my money back and I received a message from then that the Hotel Colony didn't want accept the cancellation

Did not tell us they were a 3rd party booking company. We were booking for a wedding and told them the hotel had special pricing for the wedding party, they said ok no problem. They did not give us the special rate in fact charged us more than the hotel was charging for a normal rate. They also made a additional reservation in our name without our permission. When we called to cancel the Woman that answered was OK but there were children and chickens making a racket in the background. And it took 20 minutes to cancel our reservations.
Any time I have cancelled reservations through many different company's it was relatively quick. Very shady

After booking my hotel with the site, they failed to pay the hotel. The hotel collected my credit card at check-in like all hotels do. When the hotel didn't get paid, they charged my card. Now getaroom.com will not give me my money back that they did NOT pay the hotel. This is theft! It's over $750! They keep telling me it's "with accounting" or they say that the case # they gave me is not for them! It's a complete scam and customer service is horrific!

Quoted a price of $159 per night for 2 nights in Atlanta which I was fine with. They charged my CC while I was on the phone with them without quoting the TOTAL price. The email revealed that they added an additional $169 for "Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees". I told them to cancel the reservation and credit the transaction which they refused. I had to put a stop on my CC card. Called the Hotel direct and got a better rate.
I reserved a room, in Rome, for two nights... received NO response to my question, was this for the 2 nights, or 1... with no response, I phoned to cancel, and at that time it was for the TWO nights. I checked direct with the hotel, and it was PER night!

Have never never dealt with a company that had such unethical business practices. I booked a room not knowing it was a 3rd party. Immediately, (less than 5 min) after receiving the email I called to simply change the date and was told that I could not do so and would have to make a new reservation. I have since called multiple times trying to speak to someone about changing the date and continuously denied the opportunity of even speaking with a supervisor. I have been charged $290.00 for a room I won't be using.

Update 8/24/22: Because of this review, my money has been refunded. Customer Service was still telling me no, while someone who looks at the reviews was working to get my money refunded. Because of the trouble I had to go through to resolve this, my rating is still not a 5 star.
I made a reservation on https://www.guestreservations.com/(hotel name) not realizing it was not the hotel directly. They then forwarded it to https://www.getaroom.com/ and the confimation came *******@hotelvalues.com. Within 10 minutes I cancelled the reservation. These people charged my credit card the full cost of the reservation on cancellation. I did not make a prepaid reservation or authorize a cancellation fee. When I called customer service at *******200, they said it was too bad, they were charging me even though it was only a few minutes. They also say they were following the hotels policy, which is totally false. Don't use this site! They will steal your money!

I used this service without reading the reviews and what a mistake that was. They did not make my reservations and still charged me for a room. Their charge was over $30 more than what the room cost. Ripoff
I have booked before with GetARoom and found the experience to be great. Lately, the experience has been declining. The representative on this call wasn't all that helpful. I used to be a huge fan, not so much anymore
When it jumped over from trip advisor it accidentally put that I was a party of two, not one. It didn't matter to the price. All I asked is if they would alert the hotel that I'd be just one guest not two. I was told that was impossible. So I just emailed the hotel myself and they took care of it and thanked me.
I made a booking and quickly cancelled that booking. However GetaRoom had deducted the full amount from my card, and i am still waiting for my refund. I am distressed about my money, and would never use this site again.
I just hope my refund will be credited to my card soon.

This business is awful. I booked a room and had no idea. It was a third-party booking site. The wrong room was reserved for me and I was unable to change it upon calling them. They informed me it was nonrefundable I would not have booked this room if I knew it was nonrefundable. They also left a key that said $120 and when I checked out it was $176. Do not use this site. They are a scam.

Do not book a hotel room through this site! They lead you to believe they are the hotel, and they are not! They charge you a "taxes recovery and services fee" that is not disclosed up front. They also do not disclose that the reservation is non refundable. I was charged $360 for a stay that was supposed to be $234.

I was looking to book a room directly through Radisson, and I was directed to getaroom website. I thought I was dealing with Radisson. After selecting the room and hitting "accept" the total cost came to $40 more than expected. When I received the confirmation email, it showed that there were "service fees". This was not disclosed when I booked the room. I tried to cancel and they refused.
When I got to the hotel, they told me the room was booked through Priceline! Why even use GetARoom when they turn around and book the room through Priceline, and then charge you $40 to do it? Total RIP OFF!
I just wanted to change dates and it turned out I needed to totally rebook and the cancel existing reservation. Everyone I spoke with was pleasant but this took a long time and 3 people. I would voluntarily use this service again.
I booked a room through trivago. No mention is made that this is a US based co. When I checked my statement i have been charged an overseass transaction rate by my bank. This makes this site actually more expensive than others.

I initially was struggling, I made my reservation for the wrong day, and the reversion was a non-refundable one. I was freaking out, but customer service worked with me, the hotel, and was able to get my reservation moved to the correct day, saving my trip... I am SO relieved!

$167 service charge for 2 nights at Holiday Inn Express. They allowed me to cancel; however, the fine print allowed them to charge me anyway. They never paid Holiday Inn Express, but charged me the full amount. I disputed the charge and my CC company refused to reverse the charges. I will be seeking the advice from an attorney
