I booked a hotel to coincide with a jazz festival and my 32nd wedding anniversary. Unfortunate my nephew passed form cancer. The funeral is being held during the time I booked the vacation. The small print on the reservation said NO REFUND. I had no luck with Affirm who paid the amt in full. Finally, when i reached out to geta room, I was treated with compassion and respect and within 24 hours Affirm received a refund and I am no longer on the hook for this. They did what affirm did not do in a week in 24hrs, Affirm even asked me to send in a copy of the obituary! When I called the next day, they said they did not ask for it. GETAROOM solved my problem. Bait and switch reservation website. Horrible to non-existent customer service - they are trained and scripted to give you the run around. They always can not find your reservation, can not confirm your identity, will provide a new number for you to call next, and will promise to get back to you in 24-48 hours and never do. Wave goodbye to your $ if you book with them.
Well after my negative experience with this site the customer service follow up was very quick and efficient. They have offered a partial refund after my first nights stay. Am glad they actually care about reviews... very prompt replies trying to make this situation better... and they did! Thank you!
I thought I was speaking to the hotel reservations... I told the agent I had a special group rate and he gave me a price well over that. Very deceptive. Do not use this site! CALL THE HOTEL YOURSELF>>>BE CAREFUL OF INTERNET SEARCHES! THAT LOOK LIKE THE HOTEL WEBSITE!. Almost fraudulent!
This site is a total rip off! They make their site to look like you are booking on the hotel website. My wife booked a room and immediately canceled after I told her that she booked on getaroom.com. We have called and called and we just keep getting put on forget (Hold). They always say less than 2 minutes. They refuse to issue a refund and hide behind their "policy". I would rate them a 0 if could. I called the hotel direct being we are diamond members of Hilton and they are investigating this company and their practices.

Horrible experience! Wish I had read reviews before booking with them. We were going to Hearst Castle and I booked a room through their website. When we got there, receptionist told us that they have no vacancies, nothing in their records shows that a room was booked on my name. We wasted over an hour while a hotel manager was trying to help us... Luckily, we found another hotel nearby. Called getaroom next day, they offered NO APOLOGIES whatsoever, spent another hour with them on the phone. To hear later that some Victor can't reach anyone in a hotel (a lie! Anytime I call - they answer right away). That Victor promised to call me back same day after he talks to a hotel's receptionist. He never did! Now I have to get on the phone to waste some more time with this company in order to get credit charge taken off. DON'T DEAL with this company. It's a total scam. Hotel people told us that no rooms are ever booked through this site.
I booked a hotel for 2 nights. When I got to the hotel, they said the hotel was fully booked and I should contact my provider. I had to look for a new place to sleep.
I wrote directly to customer service using my bank's cancellation code. After 5 days the answer came that unfortunately they could not refund anything.
What kind of criminals are these please? They sell me overbooked hotels and I still pay the cost?!
I have now written that this is not possible and illegal - withhold payments even though I cannot claim them.
After I reported here on this site about, the response was very quick and understanding. I had the money back in my account a day later.

NO STARS! Here I thought I was using the hotels website, but these sneaky, dishonest, leaches from outside of the USA just love to take advantage of American citizens by tricking them. You people disgust me. My actual bill from the hotel was $495.63 only to be charged $726.27 by a "third party." Surprise! That's an increase of $230.64 for doing NOTHING! "Tax Recovery & Service Fees" is just a bunch of mumbo jumbo ambiguous way of ripping people off. I can see maybe a small service fee but, 46.5% INCREASE is outrageous. Real nice business model that the way you make a living is by ripping people off. Hope it was worth your soul.
And yeah I have proof of purchase, but do you seriously think I'm going to put my personal info on here for you crooks to steal? Fool me once, shame on me. You won't fool me twice.

This company basically just stole $7800 USD of our money. Stay clear.
My wife booked 3 nights today for August at a SF hotel. Getaroom.com charged her $1800 USD per night. I phoned the hotel and booked at $330 USD per night. She immediately called getaroom.com and they told her she needed to cancel 2 days prior to when she made the reservation. How does this even make sense? Stay clear! They're criminals. Read their reviews and check out the BBB ratings.

Several days ago, I booked a hotel through getaroom by way of kayak. Today, I received notice that the credit card I had used (which has not been used for anything else) had been compromised. I also found it odd that the credit card was immediately charged after booking. This website is a complete scam, I highly recommend you avoid using them at all costs.

We thought we were dealing directly with the hotel and booked 3 rooms. They charged 60% tax and recovery fee. We called upon receipt of the confirmation and were told that there is a $75 deposit towards amenities and we would receive a refund if not used. Totally deceptive.

Enjoyed my stay very much - the sign outside the hotel was in tough shape, but the hotel itself quite nice. I also ran into a couple of errors prior to arrival, and it was handled very well by your people. Thank you.
Get A Room handle my poor experience promptly by issuing me a 25% credit for the problems with my reservation. Thank-you.
People handling the bookings were good and helpful but:
1) Both calls had a lot of background noise - like the were in a big room with lots of people doing phone work on headsets.
2)When checked in hotel had no record of my booking through Get A Room or that payment have already been made to you.
3) Could have booked the room for $70 cheaper if I had gone directly to hotel.

My booking went very smoothly except for one confusing thing. I got a second confirmation but showing US currency. As the booking was made in Australia. I didn't understand what this meant. Overall as I said everything else was carried out excellently

Website says they follow hotels cancellation policy but then they tell you its non refundable. Room was supposed to be $75 a night for two nights. $150, right? They charged me over $350 dollars! $115 dollars a night for "taxes and fees". These people are crooks!

In my 75+ years on Earth, I have never before encountered such a devious, deceptive, despicable, dishonest company. As but one example, I was allowed to cancel my reservation - but without receiving a refund. Whoever heard of such a thing?
I have been promised a full refund, but that is, so far, a completely empty promise. All talk and no action.
[Further update: I have now received my full refund of $296.48, but it should not be this difficult. If you cancel in sufficient time, you should get a full refund without any difficulty. What a novel concept!]

Booked a room a week in advance, then needed to cancel hours later - same day. They charged me full price for the Hotel room - fine print! Lol! No principles so I reversed my cancellation as I decided to use the room-nope can't room is cancelled.

Never ever ever use Getaroom! Awful customer service, the people are awful humans. Needed four rooms last minute, was told I had 4 rooms. All booked. Turns out I only had two rooms, and had to cancel my trip as I really needed four rooms. I had to pay cancellation fees even though I would never have booked two rooms if the lady on the phone was honest with me in the first place. Follow up complaint process is laughable and their staff are the worst - please avoid at all costs! These guys would not know customer service if it walked up and hit them in the face!
After they read this review they offered me my money back as a 'gesture of good will and in good faith' - with the most condescending email ever. Not a drip of irony that they owe me that money any way. Buyers beware! USE EXPEDIA!

Room should have been $153 per night for 2 nights, they charged my AMEX $410. Would not cancel even though hotel would cancel, they said their hotel partners would not cancel it. Why do they need a hotel partner?! I thought that I was on the hotels website but no I landed on this sorry companys site! I will post a horrible review for this company on any and every site I can find! I tried to cancel 30 seconds after submitting reservations and seeing the total charge of $410. Con artist company! Will take this as far as possible and have already started the dispute process with AMEX.

I could not cancel (with refund) or change the date of a booking when someone got sick and we were unable to go. Called and they just kept saying they had no option to change the date. Online option would allow cancelling the reservation, but no refund. So frustrating! Not using this site again!

I booked a room in a Dublin hotel for tonight believing I was on hotels own website for €124. When the confirmation arrived in my inbox €52 extra was added to the bill. This was not shown in the booking process and only appeared in the confirmation email. I await a satisfactory resolution from the company
Update: the company has reached out to resolve the issue quite promptly and efficiently offering a refund of the extra charges as a gesture of goodwill which I have accepted. As a result of their efficient remedy I am happy to increase my rating to a 3 and advise potential customers to please be aware of the extra charges and taxes applicable when booking with this site.

I thought I was being linked directly to Ibis Hotels when this site came up on my search. I was quoted £95 which was a good rate so I booked it. Suddenly the price shot up by £100 and my card was debited immediately. It was only then I realised I was on an American site, even though the phone no. Was a UK number. This practice should be illegal, the price quoted should be the whole amount being debited. I feel ripped off by this company because their site is deliberately misleading on so many levels. I could have booked this hotel through a UK company with no added fees. Save your money and go through a reputable company!

Yes, they have refunded us fully now but I still feel their site misleads people into thinking they are on the hotels own website and the TOTAL COST SHOULD BE CLEAR before you commit to booking, instead of being hiked up once you’ve booked. I honestly feel that some of these 5* reviews have been edited by customers just grateful to be refunded. After this horrible experience I would strongly recommend using Booking.com, Hotels.com or Expedia, what you see will be what you pay. GAR lures you in with great rates, but it will end up being way more expensive after the ‘taxes etc.’

Big red print at top says "free cancellation" Then at the bottom, in fine print it states a 3 day prior to check in date for cancellation, or you are charged. I was driving when my daughter made the reservation and I asked her about the cancellation policy, she responded it says right here "free cancellation." LIE, LIE! Always call the hotels directly. This site was $80 more than calling the hotel direct. I will keep this reservation, but only because you charged me for it 72 hours before I arrived! Nice "free cancellation" policy!

So I write this as I am on hold (for the second time now for 23 minutes) waiting to cancel a reservation I booked less than an hour ago for a stay 6 weeks from this date. Get a Room representatives have now told me twice that they spoke with the hotel reservations and blamed them for not wanting to cancel my booking. When I called the hotel they show no notes that anyone has called in reference to my reservation. Bottom line is I made the mistake of not noticing I was not booking with the hotel directly and was actually booking on Get-a-Room.com/Priceline. If you are interested in paying for service and having a positive experience in the event of an innocent mistake use ANYBODY else. Get-a-room stood by their cancellation policy and charged me half of my booking and I got nothing. Please remember I called 5 minutes after booking to cancel. They are a complete joke when it comes to customer service! Never again for me.
This site is a scam! Do not use it. We thought we were booking direct with Marriott and instead we book the Getaroom. There rates a might higher than most sights. The charge you and make you pay off the money upfront. When we need to cancel less than 48 hours later than would not refund any of our money and now we are at $1,000.
Most hotel booking services will always refund you money or allow you to cancel as long as it matches the hotel cancellation policy. Marriott allows you to cancel three days prior to your stay. When we book by trip was not until a month and half away. They took all of my money and refused to give me a refund! Huge SCAM! Do not book from this site! I travel a lot and this is my worst experience ever. Be careful when searching online and make sure you are booking with the right company.

I booked a room through the Hilton website, but it happened to be with this company. I booked a room in Milwaukee for $700 for two nights. There is no review page before my purchase went through and then when I got the confirmation email it was only for one night and still charge me $700. I've been fighting this for months and still have not got my money back and I probably won't. Do not trust this company. They have fine print that allows them to scam you.
Update: this company has reached out to me via email twice in an attempt to smooth this out but has never called me (as promised and I even set aside time during my work day to speak with them) and has never offered my money back or anything to even remotely rectify the situation. This entirely proves that this company will comment on bad reviews to save face but will not actually do anything to solve the problem. Again DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM.

This company is the worst. I will never use them again and I will communicate to friends and social media of their horrible service. I made a reservation and failed to understand their no refund policy, so when I tried to cancel my reservation an hour later they refused to help.
Update on 1/22/18-Guest relations supervisor called me to discuss concern and offered some compensation to ease some of the aggravation with my booking. I am no way completely satisfied. Changed to 3 stars for the attempt.

Was quoted $769.44 for 4 rooms for 2 nights which I consented to, and then they added $354.36 in fees for their service which I was not informed of and they refuse to refund the money to my card. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company. Do not use GetARoom as they are dishonest and will rob you, and their customer service representative doesn't speak English and has a rooster crowing in the background! Was promised a return call when I complained. 3 days later, no return call. I called back and they said they were still working on it and to be patient. Still waiting...
