I booked a hotel to coincide with a jazz festival and my 32nd wedding anniversary. Unfortunate my nephew passed form cancer. The funeral is being held during the time I booked the vacation. The small print on the reservation said NO REFUND. I had no luck with Affirm who paid the amt in full. Finally, when i reached out to geta room, I was treated with compassion and respect and within 24 hours Affirm received a refund and I am no longer on the hook for this. They did what affirm did not do in a week in 24hrs, Affirm even asked me to send in a copy of the obituary! When I called the next day, they said they did not ask for it. GETAROOM solved my problem. Bait and switch reservation website. Horrible to non-existent customer service - they are trained and scripted to give you the run around. They always can not find your reservation, can not confirm your identity, will provide a new number for you to call next, and will promise to get back to you in 24-48 hours and never do. Wave goodbye to your $ if you book with them.

I was initially suckered after calling their number by accident - they presented themselves as being from the hotel. Then I received no satisfactory response when I called to complain.

However, after complaining here and reaching out to them through their website, they have reversed the charges, about 5 days after the initial charge.

But they had charged almost $100 than the hotel, so buyer beware.

Nice hotel. Awesome staff. However I am a young adult who was looking forward to the bar they said they had and come to find out there was no bar? Just lemonade? Would have planned differently if I knew differently.

Getaroom, com is a scam, I booked a room with two double beds at a luxurious resort when I got to the hotel they said they didn't have any rooms with double beds and no roll away beds either. My kids were going to have to sleep on the floor. The hotel said I could upgrade to a suite for an extra 200 dollars. It ended up costing me more money then if I would have booked with the hotel. When I called to complain to Getaroom.com they said oh well we don't guarantee the room. Of course they don't tell you that when they charge your credit card and give you confirmation on your reservation.

This review applies to a reservation for February 2020. My friend booked the exact same room through Hotels.com and paid almost $70.00 less. I called the 800 number and spoke with a lady that said she would give me 10% off or $32.00 off, that was all she would/could do. I asked her if she was ok with me cancelling my reservation with them and going through Hotels.com, she said no, but that's all she could do. I also told her that I did a reservation for January with them and my fees and taxes were less on that one with a more expensive room... nothing! I will ALWAYS go through Hotels.com or another source. If I could have chosen another hotel chain, I would have!

I had an issue with my reservations and called and spoke with Hilda. At the onset of my call, I was extremely upset because I had learned that fees quoted for my reservation was higher than what was reflected on line and also through American Express Concierge. Hilda was able to match the fees which made me very appreciative of her professionalism and attention in resolving my issue. Thank you Hilda

Easy to follow. The same hotel with cheaper deal and breakfast is included. I have tried other website the price more expensive, breakfast is not included, no room available. I almost go to different hotel until getaroom came up. I can't believe it, there are rooms still available in Estrel Berlin. I even got a better deal. Thanks getaroom. We might use your service again next time we are overseas.

My secretary booked thinking it was the hotel direct, but we realized it was Get A Room instead. Site appeared to be the hotel. Was charges about $40 fee in with taxes. I called 10 minutes after booking and tried to cancel, was told they could cancel but I still had to pay the entire amount ($169) as a fee. I threatened a bad review, she said "sorry, there is nothing I can do" NEVER use Get a Room!

The website switched the dates on me between when I picked them and checkout. When I caught this change I had already confirmed true booking. The website customer service very rudely told me there was nothing they could do and actually told me to " just stay at the hotel for the dates that were wrong "

Total rip off! They charged me $117 more than what booking at the hotel directly would have charged. I have a receipt from check out that is $117 less than what getaroom charged. So if you book with the hotel directly, you will save $. Their scam website tries to look like the hotel site and make you think you are booking with the hotel. THey should be investigated for deceptive practices.

Used this site and was lied to, woman stated room price was higher due to only two available rooms. When I got there the guy said there were plenty available and I could of had one twenty five dollars cheaper if I had called them directly.

I live in Canada and called them from Canada to reserve a Canadian hotel room. However, they charged me in US dollars, without telling me that is what they would do. This is approximately a 35% premium. When I complained they offered a 10% reduction. Refused to cancel reservation or make the appropriate reduction. Their site is cloned to look like it's the hotel site.

Made me believe they worked at the hotel after their phone number must have popped up on the real hotels website. Not knowing who I was dealing with I agreed to get the hotel at the 173$ agreed price. Stayed at the hotel which I probably shouldn't have paid more than 100$ for and got my bill for 239$ because I had no idea it was in American funds. Canadian hotel, Canadian citizen, Canadian credit card. Feeling ripped off!

Booked a room for a seminar, the seminar date and location changed, I tried to transfer my reservation since it is a "non refundable' reservation, they told me that there was nothing they could do! Horrible service rep. Not friendly, and not helpful.

don't use this site!!! book with hotel, or other travel service

I suspect your website has a pool connection to I'll go to because I went from trivago to Agoda to Getaroom And in that process the date of my booking changed from February 24 to March 3. I did not realize this and as I was traveling it was not easy to complain to you. Two days later when I was eventually able to review correctly I contacted you, please check your files, and you said you had no arrangements with the hotel to change dates. I thought I booked a room at a Hilton for my client, paid them the money and they never even made the reservation. I checked with Hilton and they had no record of the reservation. When I called I was told it was non-refundable.

So, they get to take your money, not do what you paid them to do and there is no refund or recourse.

Never use this fraudulent service unless you like having your money stolen. The kicker is that I never knew I was making a reservation with them in the first place as it looks as if you are on the Hilton reservation site.

When they stand before God one day for deliberately screwing people over I will be just fine with them getting their just punishment. How do they sleep at night?

I booked a room and within 4 hours tried to cancel, and their refund policy was that I had to cancel the day BEFORE I even booked the reservation?(Not sure how that is even possible) so they charged me for half the reservation amount. It would have been a great deal. But I will never use this site again.

Trying to make reservation at a hotel that I routinely stay at for work. Thought I was calling the hotel directly. Started through the process of booking the room anyway, even though I suspected it was going to cost way more. Initial price quoted was $60 more per night than I had ever stayed in the past. They lowered the quote when I called them out but even the revised quote was much higher than the going rate. I told them I was not interested in finalizing the reservation but I had already given them my credit card. I was supposedly being transferred to someone else that could cancel my reservation when the call 'dropped'. Next thing I know I received a confirmation email and my card was charged. What a scam.

Had a boiler break. No heat hot water in 10 degree weather. Called to get hotel room. Thought i was calling hotel direct. This phone number comes up call they book room for 3 nights. Only needed the room for 2 nights. Hotel was more then happy to accommodate me. But then was told I went through 3 rd party. They would have to credit me. Here comes the problem impossible to get anyone on phone the run you around from department to department constantly on hold for long times.in the long run could never get anyone to respond to email or phone. This company is a complete scam.be aware you don't need them. Call hotels direct. We will be looking into this company more! Run form them

Please never ever use this website to book. Not sure how I got led from the hotel website to theirs without realizing, but they charged me an extra 300$ fora 2 night reservation which included a 218$ reservation fee which was20% of my reservation. On calling them about it they said it was a standard fee and refused to refund it. Also keep in mind the room rates and taxes they charge are much more than standard hotel rates and other third party booking websites. I have booked so many times before through Expedia and Orbitz and never ever been charged this extra exorbitant reservation charges. This website is a BIG BIG SCAM!

Long story short. I tried to book hotel accommodation for two days. The site directed me to the GetARoom site where my hotel accommodation was booked. However, I was able to discuss the matter with GetARoom supervisor who was able to cancel the booking and process the refund in full. I sincerely appreciate their willingness to listen to my honest discussion with an action plan that satisfied both parties. I will not hesitate to utilize GetARoom again for better rates than the hotel could offer. Thank you!

Original review: I highly recommend that nobody use this company. I paid extra for a cancelable room but when I went to cancel they said that because of the "hotel's" policy, not THEIR policy, I could not get a refund. I'm no idiot and I travel 1-2 times per month. I'm disputing this on my credit card and fighting this every way I know how. It's not even about the money, it's about the scam.
Update: I received a nice call from Getaroom. They were very gracious and are issuing me a refund. It was a nice surprise that they are doing the right thing. It's rare that companies that are not brick and mortar step up for their customers. When I receive my refund I will be either deleting or adjusting this review's rating. I feel much better about this company.

I was charged a 38 - 39% service charge to book a room. Their web sites are deceiving and false. My mistake for not reading the fine print, however I travel extensively and will NEVER work with this shady outfit again. $250 to press a button or two. OUTRAGEOUS.

Extremely dissatisfied as what i booked was not honored at the property. We spent 90 minutes with the concierge and the manager trying to get this resolved and it wasnt. They dont recognize your bookings as legitimate.

Our concert that was on 4/27 was cancelled this morning (4/25). They would not let me cancel or change my reservation date because they said I missed the deadline. They offered me a 10% discount. I am getting $38 out of $380 for a room I will not use. I will NEVER book through them again! I called the hotel directly and they said they would have changed the date but couldn't because I booked through a third party.
