I booked a hotel to coincide with a jazz festival and my 32nd wedding anniversary. Unfortunate my nephew passed form cancer. The funeral is being held during the time I booked the vacation. The small print on the reservation said NO REFUND. I had no luck with Affirm who paid the amt in full. Finally, when i reached out to geta room, I was treated with compassion and respect and within 24 hours Affirm received a refund and I am no longer on the hook for this. They did what affirm did not do in a week in 24hrs, Affirm even asked me to send in a copy of the obituary! When I called the next day, they said they did not ask for it. GETAROOM solved my problem. Bait and switch reservation website. Horrible to non-existent customer service - they are trained and scripted to give you the run around. They always can not find your reservation, can not confirm your identity, will provide a new number for you to call next, and will promise to get back to you in 24-48 hours and never do. Wave goodbye to your $ if you book with them.

Was charged extra per person for breakfast by the site for a place that didnt even have breakfast. Worse thing about it was this was our last meal together before my son deployed overseas. Very disappointing indeed.

I eventually received some excellent service after a challenging experience where I tried to book directly with a hotel and each time i ended up with GetARoom although I could not really tell until you get a confirmation email. When i cancelled they charged me for the room. Although it said they follow the hotel cancellation policy, in the small print it said it was not refundable. Thank you GetARoom for a good recovery and polite and helpful customer service.

Do not use this website. They are terrible in their customer service. They are deceptive. They lie. They are the worst of the worst. When the hurricane hit Florida and my plans got cancelled (the airport was shut down) they refused to cancel and refund my money. I cannot tell you in strong enough terms - do not do business with this company!

Tip for consumers:
They are not well announced on the reservation link. It appeared to be the hotel’s web site, but it wasn’t.

Products used:
Hotel reservations. Would not cancel even after hurricane Ian hit.

Thieves. This company will lie to you on the phone and send you a complete different pricing via email. Talked to Ben booking a hotel in Honolulu, was told I had until midnight Honolulu time that day to cancel. Was assured this was total price, once I got my emailed receipt saw charges not included in reservation totaling over $200 per day. Called back to cancel within 3 hours and was told I could not cancel and called a liar. Will not let me listen to the recorded call. They ate liars. Terrible company. Avoid.

I searched the stay using hotelscombined.com, and from there I was forwarded to getaroom.com, which had circa 30 pct better deal than booking.com, made a reservation online (and payed with card) for double bed with breakfast for two nights in wroclaw. Later I had confirmed directly with hotel that my stay was valid. At check in all was good. Hotel was also great value for money. Thanks. Jan Hájek

Tip for consumers:
if you find great deal and decide to make a reservation, be sure not to cancel or modify the reservation, than it seems to work just alright

Booked a hotel with get a room and the site had me looking at various rooms in Selma California and I booked one. When I got the confirmation I googled the address to see how far the drive was and it showed the hotel to actually be in Selma Alabama, Not Selma California.

So I called to cancel the reservation and get a room said that it was being cancelled less than 72 hours so I would need to contact the hotel.

I call the hotel directly and... No problem. Went to call get a room and from then on I get a recording that has locked in on my cell number.

Phone goes straight to the recording asking if you would like to book another room... I think not.

Where is my refund? The hotel agreed and you still have my money, a lot of my money.

Moving on to YELP now.

Do not ever book through this company, they are fraudulent and they won't change a reservation let a lone cancel one! Worst company I have ever dealt with just brutal people!

My car broke down and I couldn't get to the hotel and they charged me any way on two separate reservations!

I had a great experience with Getaroom.com. I was searching online for a hotel in San Fran., and trying to find the best rates with no luck. They got me a lower rate than I expected. What I enjoyed most was the customer service experience with Getaroom.com rep. Richard Purdy. He was patient and truly interested in finding for me the best rate for my price range and preference. I called a number I thought was the direct number to the hotel because I was trying to compare prices and get the best deal. They misrepresented themselves as being the reservation switchboard of the hotel. They quoted me an amount that was $25 more than what was listed on line and proceeded to tell me that no worries when you get to the hotel they will charge you up to what we just quoted you. Hotels do that very often. When I hung up something did not sit well with me I looked for a direct number to the hotel and it turned out that the cost of the room including tax etc was to be $25 less. I called GetaRoom back and after giving some convoluted explanation about why they overcharged me, they concluded they are not refunding my reservation because "no one held a gun to my head" and forced me to make a reservation through them... Terrible people, please BEWARE.

Made a weekend hotel reservation through Getaroom and ended up being hit with a $96 dollar tax and fees bill on top of the room rates. Then, since I stupidly had not read the fine print, I learned that I could not cancel the reservation per their policy - they had completely suckered me in. Stay away from Getaroom!

Updating my review, after speaking directly with the hotel and calling back I managed to get a refund processed. I'm happy with the resolution however I still don't recommend their service.
Original review: Didn't see anything about these addictional fees until after the booking was made. Attempted to cancel and was told they could only cancel after taking my full payment. They'd then speak to the hotel about offering me a refund, if the hotel apparently refused, I'd have neither the booking or my money. Total scam Don't ever use

I had to cancel one room of our 6 night stay in September. The process was done with professionalism, ease and no penalty. Our first reservation was cancelled, rebooked and a much lower rate. I am more than pleased with GetARoom

This wonderful company decided to cancel our booking whilst we were mid air to Thailand.

Being on the very south of Phucket there was no easy alternative accommodation.

Shocking company best avoided.

Expedia resolved all our issues! Stay with the best!

Normally use Hot wire and a couple other reliable sites! Hidden cost and fees. When I called Customer service. They said "There is nothing they can do: Scammers and bad business company! Do Not Use them!

Never use this site.
I booked a reservation and had to cancel it due to the hurricane.
They would not refund my money.
When I tried to talk to a manger - Michael told me to send an email. I said I want to speak to a manger and all he kept saying was is there anything else I can help you with.
I will never use this site again and I will make sure everyone I know does not.
They are deplorable.

Booking was easy. Cancellation was a pain. Couldn't figure it out through the app and had to call and deal with customer service people who repeated themselves and tried to convince me not to cancel my reservation. Not sure if I'll use this site again to book anything. Other sites are easier to work with.

Got online to what looked like the motel website. Room rate looked OK, so I booked it. However, the confirmation email indicated that a 40% "Tax" was added to the room rate.
I tried to contact the "need help" phone number provided on the confirmation email, but all I got was a recording that said if I had any question to contact the motel directly. The motel could not do anything about the excessive charge. This is a case of dishonesty at best, and larceny at worst!

They do not tell you they are third party - answered the phone as if hotel reservations. Fees are outrageous! Email is so slow you don't realize who you made reservations with until you've checked in. Beware!

This is the first review I have ever left in my life. I attempted to call a Ramada hotel but was not connected to them. I was informed by the agent that a room there was not available. They then offered me a room at a Comfort Inn at a rate of $114 Canadian plus tax recovery charges. I asked who I was actually talking to and on then did they identify themselves as not being from the hotel. The rate was decent so I went ahead. When I received my email receipt it had $58 usd as the recovery fee. That brought my total to $197 Canadian for a Comfort Inn. When I called this company to let them know I was informed I could not cancel. They then offered me a 20% discount. Unfortunately my line disconnected (agent had my number and could have called back) and when I got ahold of them again they only offered me 10% because they didn't believe me even though they recorded the call. Stay away from this service if they actually identify themselves on the phone.

I will never use this service again. First and foremost, the lady I spoke with implied that she was with the hotel chain I was calling about rather than a third party booking site. Secondly, she rushed me through the booking with a hotel that I later found to be not a safe place for a female whose traveling alone. She advised the room was the last available which was also a lie. She assured me that the hotel was safe and reviews and locals say otherwise. This Company not only sold me a false dream, but after I requested cancellation not even 10 hours later, they refused stating they have to charge me $102 cancellation fee when the hotel advised they were only charging $40. Not to mention they charged my credit card for the full amount. I'm convinced this site is a scam.

Getaroom.com is a scam! Beware. Getaroom.com means misery and headache for you. Do not do business with them! They put a hold on my account for the same amount three times! This is three times when I did not even book a room with them. Save yourself time and money. Don't even give your credit card number because they will try to get your money even though you did not authorize and did not complete your transaction with them.

And the people that work there needs a good overhaul on customer service and relations. They act like you are supposed to be grateful to them for helping you on your complaints. Well, of course, when they charge your credit card three times for the same room that you don't even get... there will be a big complaint for them to resolve.

Don't book with get a room I never checked in the hotel during a world pandemic and was told I could not get a refund I would not recommend get a room website to any room. It's a scam they take your money and run. According to the terms on the contract it says you may be charged a cancellation fee. Not the entire fee as it you stayed at the hotel. Do not boom anything with get a room. A customer service representative stated I would get a refund and months later I was told by my bank the refund was denied. Stick to know sites because this one is a scam

This has been one of the worst experiences of my life! I used this service by accident, I thought I was calling Hampton Inn directly and it has been a nightmare, They actually created a fake reservation (spelled my name wrong, email wrong and address wrong) and my credit card was charged because I did not show up. I talked to the hotel and got the credit issued to get a room and now I'm spending multiple hours on the phone trying to get my money back from them. Everyone I talk to is completely incompetent! I just keep getting transferred and even hung up on because they have not clue how to help. The hotel even called me directly because they could not understand the individuals calling from here. They should be shut down!

Thought I was making reservations with a national brand hotel. Made the reservation, did not pick up that they billed in advance. It was for 5 days. Had to check out on the 4th day to return home. Hotel checked me out and indicated no balance, suspicion enter my mind. Check my AMX bill when we arrived home and found a charge for the 5 nights. Called to rectify. The dance began. A big run around. Hotel confirmed a lower price than the charge. Hotel stated they would authorize a part of the charge for 1 day, but it would go back to getaroom, then it was my issue. Have not heard from them. They got me 2x over $300. Suggest that if make a reservation with a hotel join the hotel frequent traveler club, make reservation through them. With all of the complaints I have read from many states it seems that this is an inter-state legal issue. Surprised that the brand hotels honor them as a business partner taking the reservation.

Tip for consumers:
Tip. When searching out lodging and accommodations seek out the company's frequent guest program. Join, its easy and you can use it or not. However, you do have more of a guarantee that is defined.

I had my doubts that a satisfactory resolution would be reached given the numerous reviews I read about getaroom. My confidence in the company getaroom is still low. The aggravation and frustration there was with the many requests that I had to perform to try and resolve the issue should not have happened. They need to clean up their act, customers need to be cautious.
