I booked a hotel to coincide with a jazz festival and my 32nd wedding anniversary. Unfortunate my nephew passed form cancer. The funeral is being held during the time I booked the vacation. The small print on the reservation said NO REFUND. I had no luck with Affirm who paid the amt in full. Finally, when i reached out to geta room, I was treated with compassion and respect and within 24 hours Affirm received a refund and I am no longer on the hook for this. They did what affirm did not do in a week in 24hrs, Affirm even asked me to send in a copy of the obituary! When I called the next day, they said they did not ask for it. GETAROOM solved my problem. Bait and switch reservation website. Horrible to non-existent customer service - they are trained and scripted to give you the run around. They always can not find your reservation, can not confirm your identity, will provide a new number for you to call next, and will promise to get back to you in 24-48 hours and never do. Wave goodbye to your $ if you book with them.
Long story short... and we should have known better when they got me to pay up front, but we wanted to get to the hotel before the storm ( Michael) started dropping rain on us.
Total hotel cost through GetARoom. $206.00
Actual cost had we bought direct... $146.00
And yes. Both figures included the taxes.
You got it...$60.00 more by using GetARoom.
And when we booked, we actually thought we were booking direct with Homewood Suites.
(Not trying to be a total crybaby, we called them to have a chat, but after holding for a little over 20 minutes waiting on a supervisor to pick up, we hung up.
So, shame on me for being in a hurry. But shame on GetARoom for answering the phone with hotel reservations', and then sticking it to us.
So here is the fact... if you want to pay more for your hotel room, please call GetARoom.

Just booked a room for the end of September at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel in New Orleans thru agent Marcia who was charming, efficient and very helpful. Actually, 5 other friends have also booked thru Getaroom.com for that weekend so I certainly hope the rest of the experience will be as good as booking with Marcia was. If not I will certainly post it here.
Do not ever do business with this company. They are an absolute scam. They mimic the original hotel site and then you end up on their page. The have a no cancellation policy even if you want to a month before the trip. This is a bad faith company that will charge you unnecessary fees. The are disgusting, money hungry, deceptive, and not to be trusted. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. I have an email I'm which I attempted to cancel and they said that I did not make an attempt. Do not use this company.

Do not book with this company. They charged me twice saying I had booked two reservations which I didn't. I could not prove this as the person I spoke to never sent me confirmation. She could barely speak English and I had to repeat everything multiple times. They were no help when I tried to dispute the second charge. BAD Company.

The fee, according to the Godfrey should have been 70 dollars

I Inadvertently booked a room for! Person instead of two. I noticed this straight away and contacted them, they were unable or unwilling to change the booking. This will now cost me to cancel unless the hotel direct will help. It"s far removed from Hotels.com who actually contacted me to refund me for a room that wasn't used as someone cancelled due to illness.

Tried to cancel a reservation because my business trip was cancelled. Hotel couldn't because it was booked thru them and they couldn't cancel. Has been a vicious circle with no positive result. The Service Fee they charged was almost as much as the cost of the room, which was not disclosed when I was making the reservation. The site was also deceptive as I thought I was booking thru the hotel. Asked numerous times to talk to a supervisor and got no where. The agents are obviously trained to attempt to resolve the issues at their level, without any concern for the customer. Worst experience ever.
Originally, I was very upset because we couldn't get a refund for a room we cancelled almost immediately because of a mistake on a date. After calling and sending an e-mail it was resolved and they now refunded my credit card. Happy, not to be charged for a room we couldn't use. So the customer service ended up helping me out in the end.

I booked one hotel room for a hotel in Shrewsbury and had no confirmation from this site. I then booked again later and then my first booking materialised. With both of these bookings a large fee was added for tax. I immediately cancelled both the rooms and get a refund and was told this wasn't possible even though it was the same day and the booking was for over a week away. I later received the tax back for one room but am still waiting for the other. I have tried calling them but have discovered they have blocked my number. I therefore got someone else to call them on my behalf but they refused to engage, saying they will only talk to me! How can I do this when they won't take my calls?! This site offers very low prices but fails to deliver - at present I'm out of pocket by £140 and still have no room! Surely this cannot be legal?

I have been trying to get a refund since March when spring training was cancelled in AZ. The hotel (BW) said they would give a refund if Get-A-Room would call them - you cannot get anyone to answer the phone - just round robin phone tree. Finally got my refund - 23 days later

We booked two rooms at the Hampton Inn. During our call to make reservations we confirmed we were talking to HI. Reservations. We were actually talking to GetARoom. We tried to price match with booking.com
but were told they had not updated the rate but would when reservation was confirmed. So, we booked the rooms, supposedly for $128.57. However, on our credit card they charged $187.88! Can't get through to them by phone. Looks like we taken for $59.31. Be careful online!

Took my money for an online booking. Sent emails all looking legitimate. I arrive at the hotel with wife and baby and I'm told they've never heard of get a room and i had to pay again to stay in the hotel. Get a room tried to charge me a cancellation fee for booking that was bogus. Eventually i got the bank to get the money from them. Avoid.
The site worked, the price for the hotel room reserved was about $2 more using their site. It is tricky because I called the hotelchain reward card member # to confirm my reservation and they said I would receive points on my reward card frequent stay etc but you don't.
Very professional and efficient person set this up and explained thoroughly. Down from 5 stars because I wasn't informed that this service was going to increase my anticipated costs. However, I feel well taken care of: it's all down and documented, all set up. I don't have to wrangle with hotel staff. It probably would have come to same price anyway. Small price tag, as advertised, was deceptive, and I ended up paying more anyway.
UPDATE from Original Complaint: I was contacted by someone at GetaRoom and explained the situation and how i felt mislead. I was provided a partial refund after my stay, so that helped to resolve the issue.
I clicked on the what i thought was the ph# for the Crown Plaza Hotel chain ph# and the customer service rep. Acted as if he was with the chain. I was quoted a "special rate" better than my corporate rate i asked for. I agreed to the $165 rate over the phone and provided my info. & CC and no mention of the service charges. Later i get a confirmation from a different website called GetARoom and look at the rates and charges... $165 for the room and $84 in service charges... i don't believe taxes & services in Portand come to $84! Called the customer asked for a refund or to match the rate at what it should be and they would not. I'm awaiting some resolution in the meantime... horrible customer service with no help in explaining why the rates are so high, very deceptive practices.

Price is really low compared to other 6 sites I been to check they are more than $50 higher per Day although with other sites there is a few that debits the card as you book in and a few others dont and there is 2 sites that charged you less if you pay the same day and charge you more if you just book which is ridiculous and a fraud for me. I will be looking at your site again next time I want an accommodation
Absolute ripoff! Hotel room in Glasgow advertised at 89€ per night, entered my credit card details and was charged 143€ due to a hidden 54€ "service charge". The booking is IMMEDIATELY non-refundable and cannot be cancelled or modified. Stay away from this crowd at all costs!

Still waiting for the reply. The cc was settled within days if not hours of the reply. I've emailed for an update with no reply. Book elsewhere-this site is horrid.
I am extremely flexible in most situations. I am low maintenance and when I do reviews they are generally positive. If it's been extreme in poor customer service I will warn others. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOOKING SITE!

I booked hotel with getaroom, the price was the same before taxes as the hotels (I checked after seeing the overcharge), but ended up with an extra $200 of fees over and above what the hotel's site charges. I called getaroom customer service, they gave a run around citing the hotel policy of no refund on 100%, yet the hotel website and their customer service said that wasn't their policy. Nothing they could do.
After having reviewed our booking, a $216 refund will be returned after our stay.

We were satisfied with our booking. The hotel room was even upgraded upon arrival. The price was extremely fair for location and condition.
The beds were a bit firm and the pillows far too fluffy for my personal preference. It was also quite humid in our room although the temperature read 68.

I thought I was booking at one Super8, but got a reservation at an affiliated Super8. Customer service was unable to help, insisting I should have checked the address. Perhaps, I overlooked that and clicking on the desired hotel redirected me to another one and I didn't catch on. Still, there support consisted of them telling me to be more careful next time. Lesson learned. Also, I called Super8 directly. The rates they offered were lower! Another lesson learned.

I had to cancel my reservations at the hotel which I reserved through getaroom. I made the phone call and got through right a way to an agent who was very helpful and courteous. Bottom line, I received a full refund and will use the service again when I travel. Thank you.

We purchased and $85.00 room and later discovered there fees added over $45.00. I tried to get a refund and they would let us cancel but we would still have to pay the full price. Needless to say we just paid it and learned a hard lesson!

Do not book through Getaroom! Please save yourself the headache! I don't write reviews but because of the extreme poor service and issues I have had to deal with I don't want others to go through the headache. Long story short Getaroom uses one of their Creditcards to pay the hotel reservation and then Getaroom withdraws this amount from your credit card. Getaroom credit card was denied so I had to pay for the hotel directly despite Getaroom with drawling the total amount from my credit card! I ended up paying for the room twice. Customer service didn't even address the issue. Getaroom is all about making money and does not care about quality customer service! Do not use them.
