I booked a hotel to coincide with a jazz festival and my 32nd wedding anniversary. Unfortunate my nephew passed form cancer. The funeral is being held during the time I booked the vacation. The small print on the reservation said NO REFUND. I had no luck with Affirm who paid the amt in full. Finally, when i reached out to geta room, I was treated with compassion and respect and within 24 hours Affirm received a refund and I am no longer on the hook for this. They did what affirm did not do in a week in 24hrs, Affirm even asked me to send in a copy of the obituary! When I called the next day, they said they did not ask for it. GETAROOM solved my problem. Bait and switch reservation website. Horrible to non-existent customer service - they are trained and scripted to give you the run around. They always can not find your reservation, can not confirm your identity, will provide a new number for you to call next, and will promise to get back to you in 24-48 hours and never do. Wave goodbye to your $ if you book with them.
I booked a room through Getaroom and they advertised the room for $109.00 a night.
I was charged $171.46. I sent a email about this and was informed these were taxes and fees. I asked to see where they state this and never received an answer. I received a email 4 days before check in and was told I would receive a 10% refund. This is unacceptable. I would advise anyone who looks into Getaroom to keep looking. There are multiple legitimate sites out there. Getaroom charged me 57% above the advertised amount they listed. I will never use them again and will let everyone I know to stay away from Getaroom. Next email is to the Better Business Bureau.
I had been tracking a particular Hotel. GetARoom offered a lower price than any of the other sites. They also offered Free cancellation which the other sites were not offering. It was easy to book and they sent a quick confirmation.
I recently booked a room at a Lisbon hotel and mistakenly said one person instead of two. I immediately put in a customer request ticket asking for the change. I have one more gone in and asked why I have heard nothing. No response from them. I finally emailed the hotel itself to make the change. Very disappointed

This website is just a for profit website. I thought I was calling the Hampton Inn direct. Booked room(if it was booked with Hampton Inn the cost would have been $143.) Didn't know I was dealing with these thieves. They charged $56.60 for tax recovery fees. What a scam. I didn't know about the charge until I received the email receipt. Again the way the web page was set up it liked like I was calling the hotel. Buyer beware. Disputed claim with my credit card company. They said I agreed to the contract. I didn't but that was their claim. Tax recovery fee was extra taxes and for cleaning the room. Dealing directly with the Hampton that was all part of the price. Again thieves, thieves, thieves. I booked a room in NZ thru getaroom.com and subsequently had to cancel it. Whilst I had trouble making contact via phone, I had no trouble via email. They responded promptly and dealt with my issue efficiently. Mandy from Australia
I thought I was booking directly with the hotel. Turns out these guys were representing themselves as the hotel. I even asked if I had reached the property directly and they said yes!
If you have any issues at all during your stay, you're stuck. They will not allow you to cancel for any reason. It is shocking that this company gets away with these practices.
The property had no issue at all with us canceling.
Best Western Hotel in Macon, Ga refused to give me a proper receipt after my stay on 10/23/2018. Claimed only this site could do that, they also refused. This is a potential scam.
A confirmation receipt is not a receipt for an actual stay. Dishonest company. Property would also not give me a release for documents signed when signing in.

Dirty and very dated. Thin walls and loud halls. Toilet tank took 10 minuets to refill and there was no ceiling fan in the bathroom. There was a large hole in the carpet under the very loud air conditioner where the cement floor was exposed. No microwave or refrigerator. The front desk staff was not friendly. The kitchen staff and room service got our breakfast wrong and couldnt understand what was wrong with the order. We determined that they must have a different menu than the one in our room. Last but not least, we stayed there two nights and our room was never cleaned. We called the front desk to tell them and to order fresh towels. We were very disappointed with the whole experience and we plan not to return.

Do NOT use this company. They added exorbitant fees to the booking which they never detailed until after they had the credit card information. Even though the hotel offered to refund the purchase, they told me that no refund was possible. They also use Priceline to make their reservations so you are paying commission on 2 booking agents so the fee was 2X the hotel fee booked directly
A short time after this review was posted I was refunded the entire amount of my purchase

They booked me the wrong room. I was supposed to get a room with two queen size bed. I received a room with one king size bed for three people. I did not notice until I got to the hotel to get to my room. The hotel said that's all they had available.
I contacted you guys and just got a run around and you could not help us out to find another room at this hotel or any other hotel. So we ended up staying one night and left even though I paid for two nights. We found a hotel elsewhere.

I recently reserved a 2-day's stay at a Grand Rapids, Michigan hotel for Thanksgiving, the hotel where I have stayed at in previous visits. Although I googled the hotel name to make the reservation directly with the hotel, I was directed to getaroom.com, which billed me for the room. When I checked into the hotel, they erroneously charged me for an amount that was $110.00 less than what getaroom.com billed me. Although getaroom.com has said that they are handling withdrawing the hotel's charge from my credit card, I want to warn other potential customers of this scam. I will definitely avoid this site for making future reservations and recommend that others do likewise.

This company has a modus operandi for wearing down customers who have any issue with the initial reservation. 1. Refusal to do anything. 2. Refusal to connect you with a supervisor. 3. Read review sites for negative comments. 4. Immediately contact you with a resolution in exchange for a better review.
I did receive my refund after going thru this whole process. I initially only wanted to adjust my check-in dates to a week sooner and had confirmed with the lodging site that they had the availability. I have read so many reviews of this company that are almost identical to mine.
Advice to consumers: make your reservations directly with the lodging site.
Advice to Getaroom: lose the first string "customer service" rep's with their inflexibility and stoic responses. Just treat your customers the way the second string does - in their first request for assistance - and you wouldn't have so many bad reviews to deal with in the first place.

I signed onto trip advisor. Picked a hotel, booked, it was done! But not all fees were listed: Fee for extra person who was the second person of a couple, plus airport transport fees were not listed till after booked. Would have prefered to know before. Rented a car because it was less and no parking fees. Room rate still good with extra person charge.
In and out in 2 minutes! Not a large selection as it was a busy weekend, but still quite simple. Only big thing to address is that there wasn't clarity on how many beds in the room, but that seemed to be the hotel's modus operandi.
I booked a room on GetARoom with the AUD amount specified. Once I gave my credit card details and could not cancel the booking, they confirmed the actual USD exchanged to AUD amount, which was vastly higher than what they specified on the 'deal', on the front page of the hotel booking. This is such a misleading and dishonest thing to do. And when you go to cancel they say you have to forfeit one night's rates as the cancellation fee. We are only staying for one night so there was no point. Really not a fair system to work with.

When shopping for the hotel, this site had the best price. I was pleasantly surprised they allowed a no-fee cancellation. So, I booked to get the good price. I later found out that my company also booked my hotel for the same dates at another property. So, I had to cancel this booking and they didn't give me any problems to cancel and it was an easy single phone call process. Thanks!
I, too, thought I was calling the hotel directly. While booking, I noticed that Priceline had the exact same hotel at about half the price that Get a Room was quoting. When I questioned the 'agent', he said that he already booked it, it was non-refundable, and he could not change the reservation. He also didn't believe me that I was seeing the same room, same dates, for far cheaper. Now, checking this website, I see that this company seems to be a giant scam. Wow. Sure hope that the amount that shows up on my credit card is the same price quoted! So sad that so many people have had such a negative experience!

My sons and I planned a trip for my birthday weekend next weekend. We bought the tickets for two hotel rooms, I did not know we were going through Get A Room but today, my son was cancelling another trip that we had planned later on down the road and accidentally cancelled these two rooms instead. Once i received the emails, I called them immediately and told them it was a mistake and they said too bad, there is nothing that can be done. I said you can't reinstate it, they said no. I dont understand it, so now I am out $300 and cant even go on the trip we planned. Horrible, Horrible.

They lied to me and told me that the cost was $1450 with my pet friendly hotel. Then charged me $1611. 21 and did not include my pet. I just found out from the hotel I have to pay an additional $350 for my pet ($25.00 per night)! By the way, That $1611. 21 charge doesn't even include my 3.5 lb Yorkie so now I have to pay more money to the tune of $350. This company has to be charged with federal fraud violations.
Called to modify reservation & add one night. Was told I had to make a separate booking for the one night alone. May not be getaroom's fault; may be policy of hotel. Just a bit inconvenient & may require us to change rooms for the one night, which would be a small hassle after being settled in for 3 days already. Again, may be hotel policies.
I thought I was on the hotel site (deception) I didn't know until I received the confirmation from this place that I actually had been had. I had paid a higher price to have rates I could cancel. When I went back to cancel they told me sure but I was being charged the full fare. This was 20 minutes later mind you. Regardless they would not even listen. It's a boiler room when you call, hundreds of voices in the background the agent just kept reciting the same words over and over. Fake reviews - do not use the service and be careful when booking you think you are on the hotel site.
UPDATE: I am happy to say customer service did call me within an hour of my initial review and have committed to taking care of my over charge concerns. The hotel is very nice and check in and the stay has been great. The correction will come after my stay. I am very impressed that they called me so quickly!

This site apparently mirrors the actual hotel site I was trying to book (even in the address bar). Normally, you would get a review before you click to purchase, but this site does not provide that opportunity. I thought I would get to look at the final prices and enter my rewards number information before confirming purchase, but that was not the case. Within 2 minutes of getting confirmation email, I called the phone number provided, but was told there was nothing that could be done and I was being charged the full price whether I cancelled the reservation or not.

Searched for fights and got a quote then asked me
About hotels so I booked hotels. When I hit the button to chose my flight the price went up x 4. Obviously I didn't book the flights and the hotel reservations are about to get cancelled.
