M&M bagels and cafe is located in a small mall in Park Ridge, NJ. The store is small, people are friendly and the bagels and cream cheeses delicious. They will do anything you want. I love this small shops instead of big $ makers
I booked a property through VRBO / Home Away with their online payment system and paid full price of the property with damage deposit 3 months ahead. The owner did not send me a confirmation or details. The booking stated that if cancelled within 60 days, the traveler will get a 100% refund. I asked the owner to cancel, he did but did not refund me. I am now in my second week of deliberations with the owner and Home Away. My credit card charges say 'Home Away' but they state that they are not responsible for the money. The owner refuses to issue the refund (states the money is with Home Away and he has not seen a penny of it). So far, I have not been refunded the money and Home Away refuses to help. It's a huge scam. Don't use the site.
I rented a property from the HomeAway website. This property was managed by city kit. Property was filthy and furniture old with dirty linens on bed and stains on sofa not the leather sofa that was in the picture. We emailed HomeAway and they didn't even respond! Under no circumstance would I ever rent from them!
I am a home owner that advertises on Homeaway at a cost of £700 ($1050) per year. For the three years I have paid them I have only realised they have had the wrong weekly rate (too high) on one of their biggest UK sites which has no doubt cost me bookings and they listed my property on VRBO 20 miles away from its actual location and there offer of compensation is three months free advertising. Really!
I have been renting out my places for 3 years on Homeaway. They used to be very good, but since Expedia bought them, everything is turning bad. They are really incompetent in EVERYTHING they do, lousy or non existent customer service, incredibly lousy ifnormation both to home owners and guests, problems with most of the things that is working well on other rental sites. At the same time they have increased their price dramatically.
I hope they are put out of the market or bought by another company that knows their business.
Homeaway/vrbo has now with no notice starting charging the guests a fee for using vrbo. Time to go with Airbnb. Avoid the fees and have the guests pay with personal check. Give nothing to this scavengers at Homeaway.
I reserved a hotel through Home away three months prior. I had a family emergency and tried to cancel and was told No Cancellation. Weekend stay would have been $531. Was told need to pay $493 for cancelling.
This company takes no responsibility for destructive renters who trash the properties physically, then verbally after failing to abide by any rules and blame the owners after the renters leave the property with stains on furniture and rugs and extremely dirty.
I called to simply update information about my HomeAway account. I was told it is not possible and I have to create a new account and delete the old one. Huh!
And yes active reservations I would have to contact the property owners each and have them updates details. And yes all my history would be lost.
What do we pay them for? Use Expedia..
Bad stuff with this company. Can't even tell you the runaround trying to get a refund for a place that we booked that didn't have several of the advertised amenities. Terrible company to work with and very shady policies and processes.

Do not rely on customer reviews for any Homeaway companies. They remove the negative reviews. I had a horrible experience. The place I rented had a horrible septic problem and smelled like raw sewage. I learned the hard way. Hopefully this will help others from wasting their money the way I wasted mine. Do not trust any properties on Homeaway or VRBO.com
This site is a joke. For example, a place listed at about $50 per night adds up to more than $500 for 4 nights because of all the other fees added. Even if you search for accommodation for 3 people, it will only show a rate for one person, then triple the rate, add all kinds of fees and the final price is 20x the rate listed. On all the accommodations I checked so far! This is a total scam.
I am a host and the customer service is terrible.
I had one potential renter send me several questions about my rental in several different request to book messages. Asking about how far it was to a wedding destination. Then asking how many beds, then asking about adding extra people. Then forgetting she had already asked me and asked me again how far it was to her wedding destination. Then she never booked.
Now my account is restricted because they said I refused to book the place after several requests. Their whole system is computer animated and they told me they don't have the time to actually read the messages that I need to pay 350 a year to use their service! It looks to them like I am renting outside of their service in order to not pay commission! How insulting! I am beyond furious. Use Airbnb i have had nothing but good experiences through them
I'm a home owner that uses Homeaway/VRBO for rentals. I just saw the new service fee. I knew something was coming but boom there it was. It was kind of embarrassing and I might have lost the booking over the near 10% fee. Expedia is new owner so guess the culture is changing. The isn't a good thing.
This company have no idea. We booked a villa and paid a rather large deposit to then have it cancelled in error by the owner. However, we are out of pocket by over £70 because despite the owner refunding, we have had to pay transfer and charges due to change in euros and pounds and their charges and they have done nothing to help sort it out. No customer service and couldn't care less about us. Will definitely not be using this company again as it's not worth the risk.
First I have to say ask for Samantha when you call because the world class treatment. Her ability to make you feel welcome is first class. My rental, I rented a beautiful room with an amazing ocean view and I have to say because the feeling when I saw the Sun rise was so breath taking. This was my 5th rental from Samantha and it's been nothing short of an amazing experience, ambiance was impeccable and Samantha and her staff was extremely attentive to my needs and responsive when you need room service. I will be back over and over and will only rent from Samantha. I also learned that she owns the beauty salon. This is where you will find her. I highly recommend you call the beauty salon and ask for.
I have just had the worst experience with home and away villas.
20 days before our holiday to Thailand the owner cancelled our villa stating the ceiling was coming down and we had to have another villa. We did not like the villa and said no the owner said we had no choice I still refused the other villa as it had really bad reviews. The owner told me to cancel so stupidly I did. The owner returned my damage deposit £100 but has kept my £2000. We rang home and away in America which cost us £70 and we have gone back and forth for days. Still no refund.
The owner has put the property back up for rent?
We have found out the person is not the owner and is an agent for 8 villas and will probably keep our hard earned cash

Had to cancel the rental right after we walked in the property. Foul, unpleasant smell everywhere, dirty couch in living room and the bed was the worst! Filthy sheets, filthy pillow cases, filthy bedspread. See the pictures I took of the "couch" in the living room and the "pillow" on the bed. What is even worst is the fact that the owner wanted to rent the property right away without even checking it to correct the issues.

Just lost $500 from a scam involving a phony listing on Home Away's site. When I called Homeaway they couldn't even verify whether it was a real listing or not. The customer service agents are incompetent. When I tried reaching Fraud department, I was disconnected several times. Stay away from this site.
Answer: Homeaway is charging a fee for paying through them. They said it was to improve marketing and because renters like to pay through them. As some one who is listed through Homeaway I find this practice destructive both to the owners and renters. I encourage all potential renters to contact the owners directly and pay us directly. Owners already pay a fee. If the owners want to be listed in higher tier you have to pay more. To me they are just trying to find ways to make more money at both the owners and renters expense without improved service for either.
Answer: Go elsewhere. Sadly what started as a very good site many years ago has evolved into an unethical monopoly that has a sole interest. Profit. They do not care about owners or travelers. They exist to remove you from your money, and will say one thing and do another. They have lost the faith and trust of both, and it is well-deserved. Anyone coming on board with any of HomeAway's companies as a traveler or host would be foolish considering their underhandedness.

Answer: HomeEscape.com is relatively new but with the new Expedia Service charges on HomeAway/VRBO, the homeowners are moving over to HomeEscape in droves. Over the next year as the HomeAway subscriptions expire many of the homeowners will not renew with HomeAway if HomeEscape turns into a good alternative. In general we (homeowners) are pretty upset that Expedia is going to make over 4Billion in added income from our customers just in the first year of the fee, if folks continue to book through them. Many of us will feel pressure to lower our rental income but if you only knew our expenses you would know this is not really a big money maker for us - personally, these fees will actually put us well into the red. So, for our guests and ourselves, HomeAway will no longer be a site we do business with once our subscription expires. And, though we used to rent through them at least once a year, we're done with that as of now.
Answer: This was my first and last experience using a similar service. I have been traveling for years, staying at hotels, with no problems. Given my experience with homeaway, I will only use reputable hotels from now on.
