Prior to going on vacation, I arranged for renewal prescriptions to be sent to our vacation home in Florida. I received 1 and when I inquired about the other 5, I was told they were shipped UPS. When I didn't get them the next day or the day after, I inquired & was told I had to sign for them & was given a tracking #. I asked where could I pick it up & was given an address in NJ.
I ran out of heart & seizure medicine because of this mix up. I was able to obtain new prescriptions from the doctors who sent them to Florida.
When i returned home to NJ there were posts on my door from UPS & a postcard telling me they shipped the medicine back to OPUMRX.
I called Optumrx Monday & they promised it would be shipped & I would receive it Tuesday. When I didn't get it Tuesday, I called & was promised I would get it Wednesday. When I didn't get it Wednesday, I was promised I
Would get it via UPS by noon Thursday. I cancelled a doctots appointment & waited until after 12 noon. When I called today, they told me it will be shipped today. THEY LYE!
I NEED THIS MEDICINE inorder to function!

I have never, ever, had so much trouble getting my prescriptions filled from ANYWHERE as much as OPTUM RX!
Most of my medications went through that are covered by my insurance. The two medications that caused an issue are those that are not covered by our insurance. In the past, I have given them my credit card with the idea that on these two medications. They can just charge my card when they come up for refill. So, the prescription was sent in, and the WHOLE ORDER was held up because of the two not covered by insurance. No notice was sent to me about the hold up, so I was waiting for them to show up in the mail and getting dangerously low on my medication.

Over a week passed and I finally called them back and they said once again that the order was on hold because the pharmacy wanted to know payment method! (They had my C. C.# on file, so WHAT is the problem?...)

This last prescription involved 4 phone calls and at the end of each call, I thought the medications were ordered and the amount put to the credit card. Nope! Still waited and had to make another call when they did not arrive mail order. So, I made another phone call. Order was still on hold due to questionable refill request. They still had my CC information, but had not applied it. The receiver of the call went through all the right motions and I would think, "At last, someone who knows what she is doing". Then, I would discover the issue had not been resolved.

Finally, I cancelled the one medication that they said they had no authorization for, just so I could get my allergy spray. This last phone call involved ordering a prescription nasal spray that she said would cost $41.00 for each bottle... Today, I received 4 bottles of the prescription and the charge was well over $300.00, which if I paid for one of them at 41.00,4 times 41 would be $164.00, NOT over $325.00! This is a poorly run business. We called the company back and told them to cancel our order and to take both cash pay prescriptions OFF the list! At our age, we have no intention of sitting on the phone for hours as a time with people who do not know what they are doing.

As much as we had hoped for an easy process, it has been a nightmare! Worse than a nightmare. We are going back to our regular pharmacy where we can count on things being done correctly!

We may need to rethink our insurance plan and go with something else next time.

These people need training!

This has got to be one of the most incompetent companies I have ever dealt with. I have MI Medicaid. I tried to set up a specialty medication account for one of my meds that I needed transferred from Specialty Walgreens and after 1.5 hrs on the phone we got it set up. I then needed a nonspecialty medication set up and the lady gave me a number to call for that department. I called and the lady on that line put me on hold for 40 min to try and reach the Rite Aid I needed it transferred from. After 40 min the lady was gone and I had to call back again. I called the same number they said they couldn't verify my Medicaid, that the number was under someone else's name, and call Medicaid and verify that I even have coverage. I've had coverage for over a year, and just refilled a prescription. I called Medicaid, they said there were no problems. I called the same number back and was told this line only dealt with Medicare and not Medicaid and to call a different number. I called that number and was told to call the number I had just called because they were the correct number. I called the line back and they said again they only dealt with Medicare and to call another different number. I did and that number was a non-working number. I then called the original number and talked to a supervisor who said they couldn't verify me and only found a discount card for me. I don't have a discount card. I called the specialty line back and they transferred me to another person who had me call Medicaid again and then told me the Medicaid I called with the wrong one and he would wait on the line with me while I set up a three-way call. When the Medicaid number answered, he had already hung up. After explaining the situation to Medicaid they informed me Optum wasn't even contracted with them in the first place and should have told me from the beginning. They said the specialty pharmacy was contracted with them either. By the end, it had taken 7 hrs to hear they weren't even contracted.

The worst issues
March 4, 2021

Pls. Cancel my account! Optum has a very bad habit of trying to renew my prescriptions automatically. I DO NOT LIKE MY DOCTOR TO KEEP BEING CONTACTED AND BOTHERED FOR RENEWALS. No way to opt out neither. Keeps doing it over snd over. This only pisses off my doctors office more and more... the wording that is used is too similar for older folks. Thinkibg a Renewal is a refill ( very slick on Optums part)
