I got a great price on reservations.com, and was quite happy until a few days later when I saw an unauthorized charge on my credit card from reservations.com. So what happened? I found the reservation online. It looked good, so I called the number listed at the top of the page. (I did not book the reservation online.) I was connected to an agent in Asia who said that he worked for reservations.com, and booked the reservation through him. I then called the hotel, and they confirmed my reservation. Well done I thought! Nothing on the website mentioned a charge, nor did the agent mention one. Then I got an unauthorized charge for $14.99 on my VISA from reservations.com! I spent an hour on the phone with reservations.com, but got the runaround. "Our computer is down right now." The agent told me that he got "calls like this all the time, but that there is a charge for using the website. It is in the fine print." Really? Charges need to be authorized. I called Chase, who looked at the website, noted that there was no mention of a charge for using their service, and reversed my charge. At no time was I even aware that there was to be a charge to my card other than for the hotel reservation. I did not see any mention of a charge on the website, and the agent who booked my reservation never mentioned one. This is a cheap scam. Most people will likely not take the time to dispute the charges.

STAY AWAY!
December 10, 2019

We got directed to this when we were looking for a room to go to a bowl game in Jacksonville? Not sure how! They told us they did not have the Hilton requested but could book us in one 5 minutes away. It was very confusing as they had to book us in one room for two nights and one night in another room! When we went to the reviews of the hotel they were horrible! So we called to cancel and get another hotel. Their customer service was rude and could barely speak English! They told us that we could not change to another Hilton or any other hotel. It was non refundable and if we cancelled we would just be out the money. They did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to help us. Needless to say we are out lots of money! After giving the witch a piece of my mind I told her that I would bash them all over the internet which I am doing and I will continue doing! I am in customer service and if I treated people that way I would be fired! I can't believe that a company is allowed to scam people like this and a lawyer has not gotten a hold of it and make a fortune! Moral of the story... under no circumstances use Reservations. Com!

Hotel Booking.
April 4, 2022

I only called to check if there were rooms a available at the hotel I wanted to make a reservation with. The representative decided to help with the booking and even asked for the 3 digit number at the back of the credit card. The money was instantly taken. The agent did not disclose the service fees and other charges related to the booking. The booking is made months in advance and the agent said that incase of cancellation all money will be returned back. I decided to download the hotel app and found the rate much cheaper. Hence I cancelled the booking and requested for the refund. When I got my credit card statement I found the hotel booking refunded but not the service fee. As a rule disclosures must be revealed to the customers before making the booking. And in this case nothing was said. After calling several times the money is still not being returned. With my experience it is much better to download the app and self serve rather than calling reservations.com and getting duped. Thank you

Lack of customer service
November 8, 2018

Terrible experience with reservations.com. First, I thought I was booking through the actual hotel website, my fault for not confirming. It's so tricky how these sites pay to be first in line for a search. I contacted the company 2 weeks before my reservation for 1 night at The Nines hotel in Portland to let them know my father passed away unexpectedly and I needed to cancel my reservation. No empathy at all, they let me know the reservation was non-refundable which I didn't know because I thought I had booked on the hotel site until I looked back at the confirmation email. They asked me to provide proof of my reason for canceling, I sent them a copy of my fathers death certificate. Not to mention this being the worst time of my life, they denied my refund. Never again will I use this site, I will be mindful moving forward to make sure the site I am booking through is actually the site I typed in. Horrible experience, would not recommend. I know Expedia allows you to cancel. Even hotels allow you to cancel in advance.

Watch the cancellation fee. You will be charged much more than a one night stay if you cancel more than 24 hours in advance. No matter what the reason, they will not work with you for any refund. STAY AWAY FROM RESERVATIONS.COM

DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THIS SITE! They do not review what they are charging you before taking your money, and have an extra $20.00 service that they DO NOT advertise. This negates any savings they have to offer. Customer Service representatives are extremely rude and unhelpful. I wish I had looked at reviews before using this site. I had called 5 minutes after making the reservation to cancel and they said nothing could be done. THEY ARE FRAUDS AND SCAMMERS!

In Dec 2014, I booked a hotel room through their site, thinking it's the OFFICIAL hotel website (somehow when their web address came up, the hotel name was part of address... something like reservation-peppermill-hotel.com, kind of tricky). Once I realized the booking was not directly from the hotel, and the hotel had better options on their own website, I cancelled my booking from reservations.com. They withheld $14.99 from the refund because it's "non-refundable". The trouble is that this $14.99 was not listed separately in the charges. Had I known about it, I would not have proceeded with the booking. I complained to a supervisor, who said she will give me a refund of $14.99. And she gave me a reference # for it. Sounds great except it's been four months since I talked to her. When I called back, they gave me a lot of run-around and excuses (like they can't find my booking because it's older than 90 days). Scam! $14.99 may not be much. But it has costed their credibility. So book it at your risk.

Fast forward to Jun 2016 (1.5 year later), they just emailed me to apologize and offer to refund the $14.99, IF I would REMOVE my review. Well, too little too late. I gave them 5 months to correct their mistake, before I posted my review. I was more than reasonable. Bottom line, I will definitely avoid this site.

I booked a hotel for 2 days because I had work going on at my home. Meanwhile it is the corona virus and I am broke. I used a virtual prepaid card until my new card came in the mail. I called and I was told this would not be a problem. I get to the hotel and am informed they will not take my virtual card. I was waiting on a replacement card to come in the mail. I immediately called and reported it to the customer service at reservations.com the woman was very nice but asked the man at the front desk a million questions and would not call the front desk phone he had to talk on mine during the corona virus, and then after all that she informed me it would not be a problem it would take a few day's to be put back in my card. I was told she would send a confirmation email with the refund number she never sent one, I called back several days later the guy gave me a hard time so that he would have it submitted to see if they would refund it. I'm already broke we are going through a pandemic I had to leave my home borrow the money off of somebody and now that I'm trying to pay them back I of course cannot access it never again!

They make you think you are contacting the hotel directly but you have been diverted to Reservations.com and now you have an extra 20 dollar service fee that you didn't agree to.

I booked a hotel room thru reservations.com online. My daughters softball tournament days were changed so I called to ask about changing the date. The first representative that I talked with told me there was nothing that I could do and then decided he needed to yell at me. I asked to speak with a manager and he continued to yell at me. I was put on hold for 30 minutes and then hung up on. I called right back and spoke with a female and asked immediately to speak with a manager. She put me on hold and then told me that someone would call me. No call. I called back again and was put on hold yet again. Apparently there are no managers working there. If you are a hotel booking company you should allow flexibility in booking dates. And you should for sure provide better customer service. It was very obvious they do not care about the paying customer. Never use this company. They charge higher fees and taxes and their "booking rate". And then when you want to make a change, they yell at you and hang up.

I booked a room on 3/6/18. I hit the reserve button on a room rate of 229 US dollars for one night, filled out all my info and CC number and hit submit. Their confirmation email boosted the room rate to 279.39 dollars. This DOES NOT include the 14.99 fee and taxes also charged. Final total of my supposed 229 per night rate was 355.98 dollars. Immediately sent customer support a screen shot of the 229 dollar posted rate on their site and they didnt care. THIS COMPANY IS COMPLETELY DECEITFUL! DO NOT USE THEM!

SCAMMED!
January 17, 2022

You should always book directly with the hotel, or the hotels reservation system, and look out for the ads that pop up at the top of the list. My flight was cancelled at the Edmonton international airport, and while I was re-booking on the next flight, I searched Google for "Renaissance Edmonton airport". I clicked on the first site in the photo below, filled out their reservation request on their site, and clicked reserve. An error message pops up, that it didn't go through, and that you need to call into an agent. So of course I clicked on the number and booked with an agent in the Philippines. I walk over to the hotel at the airport and they tell me that I have two rooms reserved when I only needed one. So I called back and while I was waiting on hold, I found 2077 reviews, 1.52 star rating, mostly negative with a scam for getting two rooms and only requesting one. I called back and the agent came back on and said that I would get a refund in 8 to 10 business days. To my shock, I did get a refund, however, they did charge me their $19.99 fee three times. If you read the reviews I am one of the lucky few to get an actual refund. I'm reporting this to my credit card company, the RCMP, and Marketplace, a consumer advocate group. Someone needs to put this company in its place, or as I read, start a class action suit.

Firstly, I thought I was booking directly with the hotel. Then it turns out that the hotel I thought I booked in Canada has an identically named hotel in Texas. When I realized my mistake - which was as soon as I got the confirmation e-mail - I contacted them to switch my reservation. For the next almost 2 hours I was on the phone with them, including contacting the hotel where I'd made the reservation - who had no problem with me cancelling but I had to go back to reservations.com for the cancellation. Then reservations.com actually lied to me and said I would get an e-mail confirming my cancellation but when it didn't come after 30 minutes, I called back and there was no record of being promised a refund. After several requests, I finally got to speak to a supervisor who very reluctantly cancelled my reservation. But in the end, I lost $30 Canadian dollars - a $14.99 USD service fee and a $10 difference in the exchange rate. Also interestingly, when I spoke to the lovely woman at the actual hotel, she said that her information showed I was actually booking through Expedia. The Expedia name never came up in any correspondence and when I called them, I was told I had to go through reservations.com. I wish there was a way to shut their business down. You can be sure that is the last time I book through any site but the actual hotel.

A complete scam!
November 4, 2022

I was trying to book a hotel room for my daughter's hockey tournament. When I googled the name of a hotel that had been suggested to me, I believed that what popped up was the hotel's own website. The rate seemed really good, and although the hotel was bare-bones without a pool and with only one queen bed in the room, I went ahead and booked. I was absolutely shocked when a couple days later, my credit card was charged more than double what I believed I was going to need to pay! I did not realize that I was booking through "reservations.com" and that their prices were in US dollars. With the exchange rate, plus the taxes, fees, and a booking fee they added on, the hotel came out to more than twice what I expected to pay. I tried to call reservations.com customer support, but I was told that the room I had booked was "non-refundable." What a terrible company. At no point in the booking process did I see that the rate was in US dollars, or that they charge a booking fee. Check VERY carefully when making a hotel booking online so that you don't make the same mistake I did.

Avoid this online service! TERRIBLE with NO customer relations at ALL!
Totally misrepresent themselves and DO NOT fairly inform you of a nonrefundable fee which only appears when an email arrives! This company leads you to believe it is the hotel and were very poor at communicating with customer. Worst online company I have ever tried to use! AVOID AVOID AVOID!
