I work for choice hotels and can CONFIRM this website is a fraud. We do not receive any reservations made by reservations.com. Please check the site carefully before you book your stay!
Hidden fees, company will hold your money for 2 weeks even if cancelled, do not use them! I got no satisfaction from English impaired customer service
Somehow my husband got duped into using this thinking he was booking with the hotel. They charge you a $19.99 fee that is non-refundable. Infuriating!
These guys are nothing better than crooks. When booking make sure its not through them, couldnt move my reservation by a day and they offer no credit at all.
OMG don't use this website to make reservations, do yourself a favor and stay away. Avoid the worst experience ever. Horrible deceptive business practices.
Due to an emergency situation we had to bring our son with us instead of it being an adult getaway. I explained the situation and Katie insisted for 1 child we had to pay $22 extra even though we already paid over $325 for the room. We come to Westport often and definitely learned our lesson about staying at this facility. First and last time. We are headed back to the Westport inn were they go above and beyond for their guests.
EDIT:
If I could give this place less than a star I would. We had several issues while we were there (our neighbors up partying and swearing til after nidnight was a huge one) and our room reaked horribly like urine and there were spots and stains on the walls where they had repainted the yellow walls with white paint. The front desk employees (all besides the gentlemen on night shift). Seemed to care very little about our concerns. If your considering this place... BEWARE!
Also, the continental breakfast shouldn't even be advertised they have a few small items out and that was it. Between the urine smelling room, loud neighbors and terrible service, I say JUST DONT! I actually called Westport Inn yesterday and told them staying somewhere else made me realize how amazing they are there.
Thought I was booking room thru Marriott for refundable room (4-nights, $700). When I checked confirmation email it said non-fundable and realized it was a 3rd party site. IMMEDIATELY called to cancel - under 5 min from making reservation to cancellation. Their customer service said, "sorry, it's non refundable". That's it... I contacted hotel directly and she said the reservation says EXPEDIA on it! But she couldn't do anything, either. Contacted credit card company (Chase), they showed it pending along with another $14.99 service fee. They said it had to post for me to contest the card. Contacted customer service again, emailed (for documentation), posted on twitter and PM their FB page, etc and every response was simply, "Sorry nonrefundable" Filed complaint with Chase and it was under review for about 2 months is dispute but Chase waived the charge. They're customer service tries to act nice like "Oh gosh, we're so sorry for your experience. That is a nonrefundable room". I pretended to book the room again because I was very specific about needing a refundable room since I knew there was a less than 50-50 chance we could go and you had to go through 3 pages of links and fine line details to locate in small website print "nonrefundable". EVERY other hotel page is very clear if you book a non-refundable room (and get a discount on it as well). I beg of anyone not to use them. Double check the website address and just go to legit sites. This site should be shut down.
Tried to make a reservation with reservations.com on 7/7/18 for 7/19 -7/21/2018. They charged my card $1,019.41 and said confirmation number would appear next and would also be sent in email. Then the site put up an error message, "Whoops!", and no confirmation number. I called my credit card company. Reservations.com had charged my card. I received no confirmation email from reservations.com. I called the hotel I was supposed to have been booked at. They had no reservation for me, and in fact had no rooms available to reserve. The reservation was supposed to be for during Comic Con, when rooms in San Diego become scarce. I called reservations.com and told them they had charged me without reserving me a room, and they denied that I had a reservation, which was the whole point. They charged me but gave me nothing. I emailed the charge as it appeared on my credit card bill and they just kept denying that I had a confirmation and refused to address the fact that they had charged me for nothing. Then, after many emails from me demanding my money back, weeks after the fraudulent charge, they triumphantly told me they had found my confirmation, which was to have been weeks prior, was obviously just fabricated, and wasn't even for the correct day, and would have been useless anyway since they didn't come up with it until weeks after it was to have been used.
These people are 100% dishonest. There are plenty of other choices. Do yourself a favor and stay away from reservations.com.
I work as a front desk agent for a hotel. Every reservation from reservations.com has failed to come through to our reservation system on property. They are all prepaid, and the payment is non-refundable so when guests come into the hotel expecting a room, and we don't have their reservation or their money and we need to double charge them it is a major issue. I doubt the legality of the service, and if any third party booking site is a scam it's definitely this one. That as well as the complete lack in customer service leaving guests completely SOL. It's scammy to the guest who ends up paying more than they would otherwise using a legitimate service, and scammy to the hotel because such a significant cut of the rate is taken tht the hotel barely takes anything to the bank to show for all the trouble. This service will waste ON AVERAGE 90 MINS OF YOUR TIME resolving issues upon check in (some of which will never be fixed, unfortunately), so when booking take that into consideration for your schedule.
I like so many others believed I was booking with the hotel directly. I even asked at one point if my comp points would get me a discount and she didn't tell me she wasn't the hotel even then.
Booked a room for one night. Charged me fee of 14.99. Never told me about fee. Called my ccd company told them fraud charge. So I needed to change date of reservation and they stated I would lose my money. I said I am only changing the date and hotel did not charge a fee. Boy was I upset, I think the reps Ward's are still burning, I WAS MAD AS HELL! TOLDBI WILL NEVER EVER MAKE A RESERVATION THROUGH THEM AGAIN. THEY REPRESENTED THEMSELVES ASCTHE HOTEL BOOKING CENTER! GOING TO CONTACT BBB. I SUGGEST EVERYONE WHO HAS HAD THE SAME TX CALL AND POST ON FACEBOOK!
Thought I was on the motel's web site, booked a room and as soon as you enter your credit card number they charge a booking fee. Plus the price of the room is more than quoted. I cancelled IMMEDIATELY, they did not charge for the room but still charged the $14.99 booking fee. A TOTAL RIPOFF SITE!
Do not waste your money on this money-sucking website - they charge HUUUGE MARKUPS and dont give you proper payment details before they charge you! They advertise one price and charge you something else and then claim your reservation is non-refundable. Worst customer service EVER!
Make certain You do not use this company. The problem will be though, that by the time You find out about this Company's SLEAZY booking practice, You will have already used there service. That is when You realize that You, just got DINGED for a $14.99 "SERVICE" charge, for a SO CALLED discounted rate. And of course, You have already been charged for Your booking, at the same rate that You could have booked directly with the Motel and only would have been charged, when you arrived at the Motel. What a POOR way to operate a business
Scumbags! Attempted to book a Vancouver Hotel from the Marriott website. Somehow, they spoofed the site and I ended booking through Reservations.com unbeknownst to me. Had they send a confirmation email I would have realized right away. Received my Visa bill two days before the reservation and realized that I had booked though them and charged in US dollars +/- $300 more than I would have paid through Marriott. I called to Reservations.com to challenge reservation after receiving Visa statement informing that we would be challenging their charge as is wasn't our intention to book with US 3rd party and, from Vancouver Canada, would not book a room in Vancouver through a US company and pay in US dollars. Reservations.com representative was very combative. Indicates no cancellation because less than three days away. I challenged indicating tat they had provided no confirmation or contact after booking so how would I have known we accidentally booked through them until I received by Visa statement, which was also on September 1st. So they have $26.59 booking fee and $1,091.34 room charge for a room that should have been_/- $700 for two nights. Terrible customer service. Avoid reservations.com and Expedia, their parent company whenever you can.
They are horrible. During COVID 19, all plans and softball have been changing so fast. Initially I needed a room in Mauston. WI FOR 3 night. Because if the change in format due to COVID I only needed 2 nights. So I called to update my reservation for only the 2 nights. Thru said that I would have to cancel my reservation to make any changes. And rebook it. However checking availability at they hotel they are sold out. REALLY? That's cheap, dishonest and horrible. I WILL NEVER USE RHIS SIGHT AGAIN! EVER!
Had to book three rooms for myself and two colleagues, for a meeting at one of my customers. Thought I was booking through the actual hotel, not Reservations.com. We had a severe snow storm that shutdown the interstate, and since I was coming from a different direction, I was the only one able to attend. I had called the hotel and cancelled 2 of the rooms 24hrs in advance. They said there was no problem in cancelling. However, when I got my statement from the credit card company, I was still being charged for all three rooms. Called the hotel and they said i needed to discuss with Reservations.com since they handled the transaction. Called them and they said there was nothing that they could do since I did not cancel this through them, and they would not refund my money. Funny thing happened, I was also billed for the one room directly from the hotel, and it was considerably less than what it was through Reservations.com. I called the hotel and they did refund that charge. Reservations.com is a joke and never again will I ever reserve anything through them. The email response from them was a joke. It was just a response that they had already used for someone else, since they mentioned the wrong hotel in it. They later sent another email apologizing for sending the first email. So then they changed it to the correct hotel, but the rest was exactly the same. Make sure you are actually booking with the Hotel, NOT Reservations.com!
Thought I was booking through the hotel. No confirmation received. Realized I had made a mistake on the booking and needed to change. After checking with the hotel, they confirmed a reservation through Expedia, however Expedia did not have the reservation and finally figured out Reservation.com had done the transaction. Worked with their rep to change the reservation but did not receive a confirmation again. At hotel, found that the reservation had not been changed. Next call was to try and sort out. Reservations offered a full refund in US$ but email that followed was for Can$. Next phone call resulted in additional refund to get to US$ and a request to refund the additional service fee that shows up of$15. Final deceit is a refund at an exchange rate of 1.2107 against a charge rate of 1.2884 for a change process that was initiated within 15 minutes of making the payment.
From the deceitful webpage that at first glance appears to be the Hotel website, through the attempts to correct the reservation and finally the cancellation of the reservation and my paying the hotel directly, as their solution to my problem and then the various attempts to short pay on a 'full refund' leave me believing that this is the normal operating style for this company.
I went to a hotel website typed in hotels in Guelph, Canada and saw "Reservations" so I assumed it was the hotel's reservation desk. I live in Canada staying & wanted to stay at a Canadian hotel in Guelph. My hotel was suppose to be $91. So I made a reservation then got a confirmation email from Reservations.com saying the reservation was made in for almost $150. I called them immediately and was told I had been given all of this informat7ion was there before booking in which is a lie. Why would a Canadian make a reservation in Canada and pay American dollars for it, this makes no sense at all. I have placed to calls to customer service to speak to a supervisor in which I was told by the 1st person, one wouldn't be available to the weekend & the other one said someone would call me back. I go into my banking & I have been charged almost $190. So on top of this I have been charged in American funds. They wouldn't cancel the reservation. To say this company is dishonest, fraudulent rude. She said that she could not give me my $150 back it was actually $190. Nothing is revealed about is being in American fees. The site took my information & gave me a reservation number but no breakdown in fees as I would not have proceeded to book with them. Vital information is withheld to the consumer. This was the worst experience on booking online, I will never use RESERVATIONS.COM!
I booked a one night stay via this website. Right after the booking, I realized that I made a mistake and need to cancel the reservation. Was told the hotel stay can be cancelled, there is no booking fee but there is $14.95 non refundable service fee. Throughout the entire booking, there is no mention of non refundable service fee. It only shows up in the invoice after booking. When I question what is the service fee for, the answer was 24/7 support. When I asked for a supervisor, I was told one is not available and he or she would call me within hours. Well, nobody called for two days. When I called again, the representative who I talked to can hardly speak but he kept trying to justify the service charge. I had to stay on the phone for 10 minutes and repeadly asking for a supervisor. Finally, he said he would get one for me, but then he continued to talk for another 5 minutes b before he put me on hold to get a supervisor. As expected, he came back and said that no supervisor is available and they will call me in 30 minutes. Their service is terrible and the $14.95 service fee does not even get you a call back from their supervisor.
Answer: Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. You may have to cancel your card and get a new card and card number, but it's worth it.
Answer: Impossible to get money back. They're just scumbags!
Answer: Yes, this company charges a fee, which it will not refund even if you cancel your reservation within minutes!

Answer: It can be, if its refundable reservation. Every reservations has a different cancelation policy. Mostly last minute reservations are not cancelable.
Answer: My experience is the same. reservations.com obviously nails a lot of unsuspecting Canadians this way. They don't make any attempt to help you out when they are confronted by this way of hosing us. Its a sleazy organization.
Answer: Hello Brodie, We have sent you an email this morning regarding your concerns. Please email us directly so we may assist you. Sincerely, Customer Support Reservations.com
Answer: Yes, you were billed. Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. Your company should remove it, send you a new card and assign you a new card number.
