Took money refused to sell unit nor return money. Generally just a big scam just a bunch a thieves DONT DO IT
These people are giving Winning the auctions for me then notifying me that i won CRAPPY CRAPPY PLACE SEARCH AROUND THERE ARE BETTER SITES THAN THIS ONE!
Dear Potential Customer:
Please consider this my rebuttal to the negative report brought against my company by a disgruntled customer. To set the record straight, StorageBattles.com is an on-line auction site portal which connects bidders to independent self-storage facilities which are placing defaulted storage units up for auction.
StorageBattles.com, much like a live auctioneer or Ebay, simply runs the bidding process, and has no control over the goods being auctioned. Storage unit auctions are governed by individual state laws and the actual posting and delivery of the units is governed by the individual self-storage facilities. State laws mandate that the tenant has the right to cure his auction up to the point that the buyer pays for the unit.
This disgruntled customer, who had purchased the unit from StorageBattles.com, apparently had some issues with the unit that he purchased because the unit was cured by the tenant. He claims "I truly believe the people working there liked the storage and wanted to buy it themselves". StorageBattles.com performs over 6000 auctions a month and although they are based in Scottsdale, Arizona, performs auctions in every state and Canada. We do not bid on storage units, and do not have the ability to cancel an auction. Only the Self Storage facility has that ability whether it is a live or online auction.
While StorageBattles.com is sorry that the customer is not happy with his purchase, this was an issue between the bidder and the Self Storage Facility, not StorageBattles.com, as we are just a portal for the auctions. StorageBattles.com has hosted over 70,000 on-line auctions with a content 95% buyer base of over 800,000 bidders.
Sincerely,
James Grant, CEO and the StorageBattles Team

I bought a unit for $80 gave $100 deposit and the whole unit was garbage. I think it was all the trash left by other units
THIS HAS HAPPEN TO ME ALSO, LAST FEW MINUTES OF THE AUCTION ( 7MIN.)ITS GONE, DISAPEARE, AND I WAS THE HIGH BIDDER WHATS GOING ON HERE, THIS IS HAPPENING TOO MANY TIMES STOP USEING THIS SITE...
A great concept, but this company has very little control over shill bidding and quality control. The picture formatting is poor for how large of a company it is. You can't zoom in on pictures, which is an important thing to do when trying to see details in pictures. The pictures always close when looking at them which is more of an annoyance.
To battle shill bidding and scam management, in my opinion you need to show customers who is the high bidder. They don't show who is the high bidder at any point during the auction. Also, once the auction is over it disappears, leaving no history of the auction. It would be nice to know what username / bidder is winning certain auctions in your area. I've followed 30-40 auctions that end with historic prices, with half of them coming back the next month again. Did they not pay or did the shill bidder go to far? There are too many sketchy factors for me to feel positive about this website.
I've had 7-8 occasions where I'm contacted by Storage Treasures after the auction is over offering 2nd chance offers. This means whoever won the auction didn't pay. I've declined every time and have seen most of them go up for auction again. Some 3-4 times. I feel like these units were bid up by whomever and then they didn't pay. For example I had a max bid of $1,500 on a unit in Seattle and within 2 days it was bid up to $1,510. The unit sold for $1,510 and I got a call the next day from Storage Treasures offering me a 2nd chance offer for $1,500. It seemed weird so I declined. The unit was relisted again the next month and sold for $340. The same unit came up again the next month and then sold for $80. What the heck is going on here?
This is only speculation, but I'm starting to wonder with a fee based revenue format if Storage Treasures has fake accounts in place to bid units up. It would be easy to do and with nobody knowing who's bidding / winning units there's no trace to the public. With thousands of units up for auction every month across the country the potential is there for them to earn tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional fees.
I love live auctions and am super bummed that storage auction buying has come down to this sketchy scam riddled model.
This website charges illegal fees such as tax and a premium fee, I bought a unit from a scammer they wouldn't refund the fees
I ended up spending close to $2k on a unit that should have had a "Running Car" a bunch of tools and boxes with tools and so on... It was supposed to be a new facility... I paid my buyer premium of 400, we rented equipment for the haul and went to pick it up. First thing fishy was there was no phone number of the storage facility, storagetreasures somehow had this numbere and provided me with what was the owner, manager and person I will be dealing with... We went to the facility on the next day and it turns out the facility is nothing but a mechanics shop up front with less than 10 units in the back (obvious storage for junk from the shop itself). The guy that met us started with how he knows nothing of the whole thing... but then he conveniently hand me pliers to cut the lock and knew exactly how to help me unlock it when the lock was jammed... All boxes were completely empty, car was in worst than terrible condition and certainly not in driving condition ( it had no battery and was pushed into the unit, because they forgot to change the gear from neutral). Luckily after talking to storage treasures this time around Patty ( the only decent person there said the auction will be default because the owner of the so called facility did not have any paperwork to be selling as a facility and the sale should have been listed as private seller. She spoke with the "So not knowing" guy and told him to give us our money back. I decided to log onto my account few days later at storagetreasures and see if the remainder money was returned. Guess what I was banned. I called and when describing the situation to the guy on the phone (Mike or something) he rudely began telling me how the sale was legit and everything was the way it was supposed to be. He unblocked my account and said that because we both decided to part ways with the seller my buyer premium would be refunded. The whole situation was fishier than a left outside in the sun Carp for 4-5 days and I am never ever doing business with a place that does not even stand behind their own word! BUYERS YOU ARE WARNED STAY THE F AWAY!
