Care.com has a rating of 3.3 stars from 12,033 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with Care.com most frequently mention background checks, good experience and promo code. Care.com ranks 1st among Caregiving sites.
Additional fees addressed after purchase were a turn off and wanted to cancel. This should be option before final purchase to card!
- Seems that every action requires an upgrade in membership
- It'll be good to share whats included in basic package + upgrade
We appreciate your review. We'll be sure to share your feedback with our management team.
Seems easy to use and since I have had no luck with a number of services this seems like a good alternative.
Hi Constance, Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I will be sure to share your valued feedback with our product team!
We have used Care.com several times very successfully to find baby sitters and we are happy with the service provided by Care.com.
We love hearing this! Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you,

Wonderful options so far as I am new to searching for a nanny. Hoping I find the right care for my little!
Hi Angelena, Thanks so much for the great review! I’m happy to hear you are finding success with the site!
I like it but I can't imagine why anyone would sign up for a monthly subscription and keep it after finding someone
Price seems a little high to test it out. There should be a 1 month grace period or welcome rate or something..
Hi Sarah, We are a paid subscription service and not a free service. I'm sorry if you thought otherwise and therefore felt mislead. That was never our intention. Many sites like ours charge a fee in order to be able to offer you the features our site offers. Otherwise we'd just be like any other free classified site with very little to offer.
I just signed up and you've asked for a review. Any company that does that gets a single star rating from me.
Hi Scott, We appreciate your review. We'll be sure to share your feedback with our management team.
Having to upgrade to communicate with potential hires is ridiculous! Also, why is there not a contact number for your customer service?
Hello Anitia, As an online-based company, we utilize our online capabilities to the fullest. I am sorry for your frustration, Your free membership gives you a chance to try our services in case you weren’t ready to commit to purchasing a Premium Membership when you first visited Care.com. We'd be happy to assist you if you want to reach out to us through our Help Center's contact us form found at help.care.com. You can also reach out to us through our Facebook Messenger. Finding it challenging to understand who is available and how to hire through this interface... Why is my job offer "pending approval?"

Was fairly user friendly and helpful until I got to the subscription page. Had to submit and upgrade my info several times.

I was on Care for years. I always had good luck finding nice homes to work in. I am primarily a chef and companion. I contracted with a family to care for their sister-in-law. I had been praying for a live-in position so I could help someone really in need. When I got into the home, I realized it was a hoarded nightmare, with rats and filth. I had already moved in before I knew the truth. The family had left her in despicable conditions, totally unsafe for a paralyzed individual. They had also taken control of her finances and were trying to declare her incompetent. Her husband had passed away and it was the perfect time to pounce. She was terrified they were going throw her into a nursing home and take her house and money. She begged me to help her, so through her attorney I became guardian after a series of events over several months. After spending months removing thousands of pounds of hoard and remodeling her little house, getting her benefits in place that her in laws didn't bother to do, we are heading toward our one year anniversary. I quit taking a paycheck months ago because I wanted her to have enough money. I am a music teacher, so I teach and have retirement.
Her sister-in-law posted a scathing, slanderous review on my account. It was all because I had helped her block their attempts to toss her away and take her assets. The accusations were scandalous and completely unfounded. I have a stellar reputation in my community and was heartbroken that others might read and think I would ever exploit anyone in anyway.
I could not get this disgusting review deleted. There was no disputing the horrible claims made against me. Care.com does not protect anyone from slander. They just blatantly post false reviews without investigating the validity.
So... after years on this site I had to delete my account so this deliberate character assassination would get no further attention.
Shame on you Care.com!
The caregiver was kind and knowledgeable. I was confident letting her walk my dog.
Thanks so much for the great review! I’m happy to hear you are enjoying your experience with the app!
I'm hoping, this will provide the type of people I'm looking for to clean my home on a regular basis. My last house keper I had for over 25 years
Hi Pamala, Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I will be sure to share your valued feedback with our product team!
Could be better for a new user in guiding how to actually get started finding care. I wasn't sure what was going to be the next step until I paid...

I am a "premium member" on the site as a care giver which means I pay annual dues to the website to get job postings faster than the non paying members and I show up higher in search results to local families looking for help.
Everything was fine until I paid my annual dues a couple weeks ago but my background was not updated.
Not only was it not updated, but my social security number was suddenly coming up as "non verified" which makes me look like a liar I guess.
I tried to pay the $9 fee to update it... four times... and got a message each time saying that there was an error and it wouldn't work.
However, I did get charged $9 four times on my bank statement... for a service I never got.
Now families will not even respond to me once they see my background report because I don't look like a trustworthy person.
I've messaged the care.com 8 times now and still no response that is not completely automated.
I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau and will not be recommending the site to any more of my friends and family... I have gotten many people to join this site over the years and I am starting to regret sending them any business because when you're a paying customer and you need technical support...
THEY ARE NO WHERE TO BE FOUND WHEN YOU NEED THEM.
HANDS DOWN WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER NOT RECEIVED ANYWHERE FOR ANYTHING THAT I HAVE EVER PAID FOR.
Hi Ava,
We’re sorry to hear about your experience with Care.com. The featured membership for a caregiver includes lots of great benefits besides the background check. In addition to getting job posting notifications before non-paying members, you are able to contact more families with the membership. The featured subscription includes one free background check, so if you had gotten a background check for free with a featured subscription already, you would not be eligible to renew that for free again.
In terms of your billing, we’re sorry that you were having issues processing the payment. Cards can be denied for a number of reasons. Each time you attempted to purchase the background check it would have taken the $9 on hold, but we do not charge that money unless the payment goes through. Sometimes charge attempts will remain as “pending” on your bank statement, but those pending transactions will drop off typically within 3 business days.
Please refer to our Safety Center to find out more details about our Background Checks, what is covered, and for a list of reasons why a Social Security Number may come back unverified.
We hope that you were able to resolve any issues that you have had, and wish you the best of luck in your job search!
Regards,
Care.com Member Care Representative
I'm reviewing as a job seeker. Care.com sells itself as an easy and free way to find a job. The website itself typically runs smoothly and all, but it constantly harasses you to upgrade to their paid subscription program. Every single time I pull up my account page and sometimes even just logging in or going to another part of the site, I get an offer to upgrade. There is no "don't ask me again" option so there's no way to make the offers stop and it's very easy to get irritated. I thought that without a paid membership I could apply to listed jobs and the person who listed it could reply back. Seems like a very basic thing right? Wrong. You can apply to the job, but the other person has to have a membership in order to reply to you. If they do happen to reply, you then need a membership in order to even open the next message. You need to pay for the premium version for even basic communication. Why give me the option of sending out a message if I have to pay to see the response? Not cool. It's like they're using the potential of a wasted opportunity or missing out on a job to manipulate you into paying. And providing the job lister or seeker you contact with a private email so you can communicate outside of care.com is strictly prohibited. Very shady. Clearly a way of forcing you to use *their* service so that *they* can profit. Also, I get about five emails from them per day that are basically just advertisements. One came through today at 3 in the morning. I get those, but if someone contacts me about a job, I get nothing whatsoever. Email alerts for when someone messages you come with a paid membership only. They make it extremely difficult to unsubscribe to their daily barrage of useless emails. Basically it's totally not worth it unless you want to pay for every single tiny little feature. From the perspective of a job seeker with no money to pay for the subscription, I found it pretty much unusable.
IT's confusing and I didn't like the way your page probably has everyone signing up for premium, when they didn't want it. So please fix my page to just month to month NO PREMIUM

I did not know I had to sign up for 3 months and we will see if it is worth the money. I hope so. The website has not been that easy to navigate.

I can't post the job because it Kris giving me an error about not including links or HTML which I am not doing. Your site is bogus
I have reached out to this member to resolve the issue, but have not heard back. Additional help can be found at https://help.care.com/
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
