Way too many steps and hoops to jump through to set up an account and actually contact someone for a job
Online registration was ok. It would be good to have a list of items to complete before starting the registration process.
Care dot com is great! So easy to use. Lots of great features to customize job posts and message with candidates.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I will be sure to share your valued feedback with our product team!
Not used to having a subscription required. I feel like I should have been able to log in from the start.
I just paid a quarterly membership fee and then find there's an add'l $20 in fees just to make a booking?

This site is awful. Billing is not transparent. I signed up for 43 per month and was charged another $21. Awful

I had a perfect match and you required I pay, after I paid, that sitter was gone. Feels less than forthright

It just is sad that you have to pay so much just to find help when the elderly are struggling enough
Hi Joey, We are a paid subscription service and not a free service. I'm sorry if you thought otherwise and therefore felt mislead. That was never our intention. Many sites like ours charge a fee in order to be able to offer you the features our site offers. Otherwise we'd just be like any other free classified site with very little to offer.
I feel duped being charged $20 more a month when the verbiage made it seem like the total would be $20

I've used Care.com to get hired and also to hire other people many times over the past five years. I've never had a problem with either end of the process. I had a premium membership at one point, and when I canceled it they never changed me again, so I'm also not sure why people are having problems with that unless they're doing it wrong.
Some people who apply to jobs on this website are not the best, but if you hire somebody without doing an interview, background check, or asking for references, it's your fault. It's a public website. Anybody can make an account. You wouldn't just chose a roommate off Craigslist without meeting and getting to know them first, so I'm not sure why you would do the same with somebody who is going to be looking after your family and helping out around your house. If you're going to be letting somebody into your home from a public website, it's your job to be thorough and approve them, nobody else's.
As a care provider, you can sometimes get random text messages from numbers claiming to be associated with the website, saying they want your resume. They simply data mine your phone number from your account and are not actually a member associated with Care.com. Your phone number isn't viewable by anyone and is only used by the website to text you when you have a new message on the site, if you choose to enable that feature. As with every other website out there, if you get an unofficial message, ignore it. I just delete them without a second thought. They come once every few months or so, sometimes a bit more often. They're always ridiculous and I'm not sure why people even give them a second thought.
Anyway, a lot of these reviews are saying things that I've never experienced in the five years I've been using the website. Most of the negative comments seem to be due to user error.
I contacted two housekeepers but never heard back from either one

I want to cancel and get a refund. Just signed up
Less than an hour ago and had a basic membership for about a week. The list of cleaners was not as extensive as expected. PLEASE CANCEL AND REFUND
Care can be very confusing - I used them to find a job and hire someone. I have given the same information today at least 5 times and I pray I do not get CHARGED for giving the same information.

I've used the care.com app twice. First in 2019 and interviewed a handful and have hired a wonderful and attentive nanny. There was no issue in shutting off payment after the posting. It was listed in Apple subscriptions section and turned off. Take 2 in November 2020 I registered again to post a role, we ultimately removed it in November and I later checked my Apple subscriptions section again to make sure it wasn't there... well from December 2020 to Today July 2021 they have been deducting $43 every month claiming I signed up for a premium account to chat with providers. Where I hadn't used the app since November, hadn't received a SINGLE email informing of the monthly deduction (you know the way legitimate companies tell you monthly your going to be charged). I called billing... they refunded today's charge and said there's nothing to be done for all of the months they have withdrawn as they have a convenient "no refund" policy. To get me off the phone the billing associate said start a chat with care.com to see if anything further can be done. I asked directly which made her freeze... "your telling me customer care will have the ability to reverse charges, the actual billing department that you are in can not?" She stuttered for abit and said no they can't. My bank has a stop payment with them and I will continue to pursue a claim. It is amazing for me to make a job posting, deactivate it promptly after and a phone application claim for 6 months $43 a month ($258 total) is a perfectly reasonable amount of money to deduct from someone's account while providing NO SERVICE, ZERO legitimate billing and ZERO recourse.
My partner and I signed up for basic service with Care.com in 2018 to find a sitter for our 1 year old. We ended up hiring someone who, after two days, said she needed to quit. We never went back to this service after that. Then today I notice a charge on my credit card from care.com for $86. Confused I checked my email for anything from them and asked my partner if she did anything with them. Nothing from either, so I try to login and see that I have an active 'premium membership' that is billed quarterly. Sure enough, I see that I've been billed between $78 and $86 for this service 4x a year since 2018, despite never using the service and never receiving any emails to the email registered with the account about upcoming payments, account renewal, or anything at all. Not one email. This is a predatory billing practice that is hurting families instead of helping them. We are disgusted that a company with name 'care' and mission to help families find quality child care relies on such unethical billing practices to take money from families in need. Of course, upon reaching out to customer support via chat, because there is no phone support, I was just given a copy and paste of the ToS that states there are on refunds, accounts are auto-renewed via card on file, etc. Standard practice for these companies to justify their actions without considering the humans they are hurting. The support rep was kind enough to open a ticket with a supervisor which I appreciate. While I'm not feeling very optimistic there will be a satisfactory resolution here, which would be at least some of my $1500 + refunded, I am hoping they practice what they preach and care enough to do so.
Hi Brian, I'm so sorry to hear that you were not aware that our memberships auto renew until cancelled. I cannot navigate the website so far and I cant get much information about how it works. And I have already paid a lot of money for the service.

Your system would not move forward. The ticking clock for the coupon seemed to stop the payment --- so I lost out on the promo code to save my time.
I have reached out to this member to resolve the issue, but have not heard back. Additional help can be found at https://help.care.com/
I don't understand how to use this website. I have to pay to leave a message with a worker? And it said $12.—- My account is changed $124. Why?

Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
