I have an immune disorder and have been on the same medication for all 23 years of my life. These past 2 months, I've been continously fighting with OptumRX, who insist on putting me on a generic that IS NOT THE SAME as the brand name medication I use. As such, I've had to use said generic, resulting in worse results in my tri-monthly blood work and a worse overall health. Do they care? No. Even when my general physician has repeatedly written letters, DAW prescriptions, and spoken to them on the phone, they outright deny my claim. They're now forcing me to pay for another doctor to simply get my prescription refilled.
Greedy, useless insurance company. I hope the higher-ups have children sometime and they end up with an immune disorder so they can understand how delicate it is and the complexity. Maybe then they'll stop being greedy, unknowledgeable pieces of garbage.
Stay far away from this service if you can. And if you can't, God help you.

Worst company I have ever had to deal with. Not only do they lie to you every time you talk to them but they are rude and disrespectful and they do not care about anyone not even themselves. If they had any respect for themselves they could not work for a company that let's the people that are paying for there persciption insurance get treated like the reps. And supervisors treat them. Myself and my coworkers are working hard to get our HR Dept. To get our RX insurance changed so we do not have to deal with them.

I decided to try Optum bc my insurance was pushing it. Optum was dishonest about being out of stock of medications. I feel like I had to go through an entire legthy process each month to get time sensitive prescriotions. I am pulling all my scripts from them ASAP. Using them is not worth the headache. I don't suggest this program to anyone. It has been a nightmare.

I never received my insulin, thyroid and blood pressure medication from optumrx. I had used local cvs pharmacy then after 3 fills. Cvs told me I had to use mail order optumrx. I placed order with optumrx and only recieved my BP meds not insulin. I told my doctor about issue. My doctor placed order with a different pharmacy after 3 fills optumrx told that pharmacy I have to do mail order. Again back in September 2022 I put in a 90 day prescriptions never received order. But a call saying issue with my prescription told my doctor to fix she said optumrx is the problem. Nothing but run around ever since.

I have 5 medications that the prescribing physicians have faxed/called Optum Rx multiple times along with me speaking with Optum Rx weekly and sometimes several times each week to get the prescriptions correct, the prescribing physician and contact info and each time Optum Rx assures me it will be updated and taken care of. Wrong! If I was not taking anxiety meds before, I will be taking it soon after dealing with this company! Very disappointed and will change to local pharmacy soon!

Prior Authorization

This is a horrible company! If I did not have to use them, I would not. I have been trying to get my medication filled for almost a month. The physicians office told me they spoke optum several times- still with no resolution. I have been taking this medications for years... never had such an issue with prior authorizations. My Insurance company has approved. Then Optum will tell me the physicians office have not spoken to them... I know this is a lie. The physician will call me and tell me Optum said they received everything and I call and Optum and they still need a prior authorization. Again, I have never had an issue until I had to start using this company.

My husband's employer switched to the insurance company last month. I had been taking 60mg of viibryd for depression. They refuse to pay for 60, so I'm forced to take 20mg. They same deal with my pain med. I now have to cut that dose in half. This is horrible. I can't imagine what cancer patients, or heart patients have to go through. I would rate them in the negative numbers. The worst company EVER!

First 'offshore' customer service does not work and defies American sense! OptumRx will remove drugs from your list Why?... and you will DIE! Doctors front office screws up and your drugs don't get refilled, then gone from your list. Genius.

The worst part of being diabetic, is having to deal with OptumRx, and I don't have a choice since they handle my insurance mail order pharmacy, so I have to go through them.
There isn't a single request, or task that they can do. Every month I have to jump through the same hurdles to get my prescriptions, and even when I managed to get it through a different pharmacy like CVS, they have to process the claims and of course they make things as complicated as possible. The worst part is; they don't care. I would be running out of diabetes supplies because of them not being able to process orders, and I have to keep calling every day to speak to a new agent who would tell me that they don't see an order/request although they see I called, and I keep going through that every day, with different agents and escalation teams until I get lucky to get an agent on the phone who knows what they're doing.

It's difficult to write a review for a critical healthcare service that is badly broken. This company has become completely dysfunctional in recent months. Customer Service is farmed out to a 3rd party company in the Philippines and the phone reps are not knowledgeable at all. Lead time to fill prescriptions has increased in recent months, and some simple orders (common medications) can take over 2 months for OptumRx to fill. The OptumRX web site and phone app are not synchronized so the information accessible by a patient is not up to date and is rarely accurate. Even after escalating issues to supervisors in Calif and pharmacists in Oklahoma by phone, this company cannot get things right. Use Walgreens or CVS if you can, prices are the same for 90 day supply and at least you will receive your prescriptions in a timely manner. If I could give lower than a 1+ rating I would but this is the lowest possible rating.

They fail to provide email notifications when a prescription can't be filled as I requested a medication that has always been filled and suddenly it was cancelled for reasons not given by the person I called to inquire why. It was suggested that it couldn't be filled as they needed a doctors' prescription and that I should call the doctor to get the prescription. Isn't it their job to contact the doctor when a patient requests a new refill? I ended up running out of the medication, which is not to be stopped, due to their unresponsiveness. The doctor called it in to a local pharmacy when it was requested as a mail order so the price was higher.

Prescription order placed to you on November 28th, And now it's December 7, and it still hasn't arrived! Are you kidding me? Either sent by carrier pigeon or pony express. You're nothing to me. I'll buy locally from here on out. Spent close to $500/90days. Now you get nothing! Nothing happens business wise in America unless the customer is buying something. No employees, no buildings, no lights on, no deliveries, unless we, the people with the cash, are there buying something. You have no business smarts whatsoever. You suck!

I started filling prescriptions at OptumRX this month for the first time. I have spent hours on the telephone, actually, not hyperbole. I am a nurse with a good understanding of my prescriptions. The first time I tried to set up my account on the website I had to call four times about issues. (Cost of a medication, dosage of a medication, change of a medication wrong dosage of medication listed.) I tried to contact them by email and waited days for an answer; received several computer generated replies that included no answer. When they did answer the email, it instructed me to call them, which I was trying to avoid. I did call, and I was just disconnected after being transferred twice. I called Costco to price my new prescription and it was 2/3 the cost of OptumRX. I am now going to price my other prescriptions through Costco. My recommendation is to check with other pharmacies for the cost of your medications. If they are the same price or below, use that pharmacy.

Called today to get a refill for my grandpa. The rudest PT i have ever spoken to. I am a PT myself and i cannot explain how disappointed i was to be talking to someone that rude. I asked if my grandpas prescription could be filled for 90 days because he is going on vacation and he doesnt respond so to confirm i repeat it again, and he tells me "i fill it as my doctor tells me to not you." Soooo angry from that response. Wish i knew What his name was. People like this should not be working healthcare.

If you want your prescriptions delayed 40% of the time, if you want to spend 3 hours on the phone in 6 months, if you constantly want to wonder if your medication will actually come this month- then sign up with Optum. Another United Healthcare mess

It's been 8 weeks and my prescription still isn't complete... I finally received my glucose meter, lancets but NO test strips for the meter. It's been every ridiculous excuse that they could come up with to not fill it. Then when the new year came and my copay wasn't zero anymore they could fill it all the sudden. They had received this order on December 2nd! I requested a review to back bill the insurance. I was told this process would take 7-10 more days. Well, it's been over 10 and not a word. I haven't been able to check my blood sugar in over 8 weeks! This company is the most unprofessional and useless Company that I have ever had to deal with. The employees are untrained and clueless. I will now move on with filing a complaint with the FDA.

Most Inept Company

I would give them a zero rating if possible. They cannot not give you the price of a common drug after being on the phone for (not exaggerating) 45 minutes. I ordered a drug and after waiting 3 weeks, it didn't arrive. Why I questioned them they told me that although they had my name, address, account number, Social Security number, email address, phone number, and birth date, they couldn't fill my prescription because my prescription card did not have a middle initial but the script written by the doctor did. In essence, my prescription was held up indefinitely because of one letter. If I hadn't called Optumrx I would have never gotten it. No one from the company even realized that this was going on. I will never give this company another nickel.

Waste of time and money

OptumRx always asks if you will do a survey at the end of each call...they just don't connect you with the survey if you are angry when you call. As with all prescription services this company wants to be in charge of my prescriptions. In charge of refilling prescriptions for me (auto refill), in charge of the number of prescriptions they send (too many if they are on auto refill, with restrictions on me if I re-order), in charge of my credit card (they keep the number), in charge of what prescription cost they will cover, and in charge of contacting my primary care provider. When I call, they can't answer my questions and I have to talk to a supervisor to get anything resolved. These people are middle-men and that's part of the reason prescriptions are so expensive...we are paying for a worthless in between service that just messes up what worked just fine before they were involved.

I have had Optumrx for several years and they have gotten worse and worse. They are always out of stock and if you order several meds at a time, they come dribbling in one at a time. The last order I made, I changed my address to a temporary one for a few months, but they didn't send it to that address although it was changed on the original order page. They sent it to my permanent address and after 2+ weeks, I still don't have all but one of them which was sent correctly. I complained and they claimed they didn't have my correct address yet I got one prescription to the temporary address and the prescription showed it was sent 1 day before I complained. They still say they didn't have the correct address when they shipped the bulk of the order because they ship so fast. Really?!? Who are they kidding! I am looking for a new mail order provider because I am tired of their poor service and falsehoods.

Working with idiots
March 12, 2021

I do prior authorizations for a physicians office. I have spent over six hours on the phone with them after receiving an approval over fax but still would not go though at the pharmacy. I spoke with three different representatives at optum, who each gave me a different answer as to why it would not go through. I was told that the pharmacy needed to put in a different code when entering the claim. I asked them to call the pharmacy to give them this specific code and they said they weree
