Stay away, their customer service is less than useless and possibly deadly.
I called 10 times over almost 2 years not an exaggeration, to have ALL my meds auto refilled, yet time after time I ran out of crucial meds just assuming they're late and in the mail,
Then I call to cancel everything dec 4rh after almost having a stroke when they didn't refill a vital BP med, they immediately sent everything they could! And they left the line open so I couldn't do.the survey. Then today I get an email that they're preparing to send another shipment! Call and they said they'll remove my contact info so I won't be 'annoyed' by notifications... I'm like no, I need confirmation that my account is closed, had to ask her 8 times to keep my email address and send me a confirmation
OptumRX seems to be gambling with our health. Some illnesses cannot tolerate a week without medicines... missing doses of medicines can greatly complicate treatment. My employer switched to Optum as the pharmacy provider in January and all prescriptions have been delayed to the point of being completely out for days in between. Our doctor electronically submitted the prescriptions more than 10 days before we ran out, but they were not "received" by Optum until the medicine was completely out 10 days later, then Optum shipped via ground, the slowest method possible, so we will be without the medicine for 6 additional days. The first time I'd call it an honest miss. But after repeated problems it now looks like the MO. Shame on them claiming to "manage health". Managing it all the way to the bank it seems.
Everytime I need to get rx thru optium (only pharmacy my health insurance allows me to use) I have such a hard time never recieve get told multiple reasons for problem depending which supervisor you talk too! Spend 45 min to hour on phone trying to get a simple rx that they never ship or fill! You should be ashamed of your company! Theses are medications people need! Disgusting on all levels! I'm going to find out who over sees the pharmacy in the United States and fill a official complaint!
Problems getting Rx timely to being charged for a drug that my benefit plan states is free. Trying to resolve this charge impossible. Spent 1 hour and being disconnected from 4 individuals. Finaly gave up. Typical reaction from this disorganized company. Even had instances of drug being refilled and I did not request because no longer needed. They always blame "system problems". Husband also has optum and has numerous problems
Complete idiots. They send the wrong prescription, then send you a kit to destroy it… more than once. Made another mistake and had to mail it back.
Credit card on file… get a bill in the mail.
Confirm an order, get half and have to call back to reorder.
Yes our life sometimes depends on medication but it shouldn't be with these idiots.
United Healthcare owns OptumRx. As a subscriber to their drug coverage they steer customers to Optum or... one has to pay 30% +/- more from a local pharmacy. I've dealt with 4 other mail-order pharmacies over the years and Optum stands out as the absolute WORST by a long measure. Three days after a script is sent to Optum-- it's still not in the customer profile. When it does show up, delivery is another 7 to 10 days. It takes multiple calls to check status and progress. This is not a one-time occurence... it's standard operating procedure.
I feel bad because literally every time they call and I see their number on my caller ID I'm instantly irritated. They call 5 times in a row, leave a vague message (which is fine because they're limited on what they can say) and then call back 20 mins later, several times in a row. The biggest problem I have is when I actually answer the calls or call them back at the number provided, I'm stuck on the phone for 20 minutes and no one knows why they were contacting me. I also go through issues every month through their specialty pharmacy for my chemo. I rarely give a bad review but after two years of dealing with them and there's been no improvement I felt it was fair.
I will say their employees are incredibly friendly but that can only get you so far if you can't help the costumer.
This is by far the worst mail order pharmacy. My employer switched to this God awful company to save money I assume. I've been using the company for 5 months now, they don't cover 3 of my generic medicines! Use to have Express Scripts, loved that company. Easy to deal with and if a medication wasn't covered, they would contact the doctor. Again, OptumRx sucks! Stay away!
It's sort of indescribable how terrible this company is. Their systems are antiquated, as are their policies. I have to go to the post office to sign for my medication - an epic inconvenience, since I work late hours. I've had ExpressScripts and CVS Caremark in the past and didn't have this issue. Truly a bottom-of-the-barrel company, but I'm stuck, since my insurer has contracted with this clueless entity. And I agree with the other reviewers regarding the poor telephone service. Good luck getting resolution in a timely way, much less speak to someone who speaks English passably.
I stopped all of my mail order auto refills as I was leaving on an extended trip. Got an email telling me that OptumRX was processing an order so I spent about 1 hour getting the shipment stopped since neither I nor my doctor had placed an order. Was told a high priority stop shipment order had been issued. A few days later I get another email that an OptumRX order was shipping so I spent another hour on the phone to make sure they did not ship anything as my mail was going to a forwarding service. Again was told the order would be intercepted and not mailed. Well, then I get billed $4.95 from my mail forwarding service because OptumRX shipped it anyway. Although OptumRX agreed that the error was theirs, they refused to credit my account for the charges I incurred due to their negligence. It is not a big amount of money but a huge waste of my time and very disappointing experience. Will stop using this service.
Answer: They are a legitimate pharmacy benefits manager for United Healthcare, but their prices and practices leave alot to be desired.
Answer: Don't hold your breath - they are all about money - not customer service
Answer: You can send them a message on their website which they won't even read for days, so it's a useless feature. You can also call them at 1 (800) 356-3477 and sit on hold for 10 minutes before getting a person to talk to. In my experience, calling them has never resolved whatever issue I'm calling about, but you can talk to someone.
Answer: Only bad part of this united plan. Optum is worse than poor. They misplace Rx's and then lie
