Just like United Healthcare, the parent company, OptumRx is NOT about customer service or your healthcare. It's all about taking your money, and causing delays in getting your medication. Watch for higher prices, especially through their "specialty Rx" program if you are forced to use that rather than have services provided through your physician's office. They are a poor excuse for a company, (as is UHC in general) completely disorganized and should be dropped from any and all employer-sponsored health plan. But, hey, for your employer, I guess they offer the cheapest way to appear that employees are getting "health benefits". If I could rate them as a "0" I would.
I work in a medical setting and this company will not approve a simple drug like Albuteral for patients, with no other alternative listed. DO NOT go with this company, they will not cover medication that is medically necessary! If you are someone about to go on Medicare, do not pick this company, your medications will not be covered!
My wife has tried 6 different anti-anxiety medications many of which led to horrible situations. Finally we found something that worked and Optum won't approve a tear reduction so that we can afford the medication to make her better. They want her to take more different medications that aren't going to work and keep experimenting to save them a dime while risking her safety.
January 19 I placed an order for my specialty medicine. I was supposed to get it a week ago it never arrived however they took the $40 out of my account on January 19 to pay for the medicine which I never got. I called the supervisor after waiting 55 minutes getting disconnected getting back on again and the supervisor send the medicine today and guess what no needles to give myself the injection I had to get back on the phone with them tonight 25 minutes on the phone again unacceptable
Do not use optimrx.
They are horrible. The customer service is non existent.
I get a different answer every time I call.
They don't make notes on my account for consistency.
I was told relion brand is covered. It us not.
I give this company a big F for failure.
OptumRX is very hard to use. They reject your refill requests and never contact you to tell you. This has happened many times and this time my doctor even tried to call in the refill. After being transferred 7 times, he gave up and gave me a new prescription on paper to send in.
OptumRX also gives you conflicting information. And when whatever they promised when you call and speak to one rep will be rejected, leaving you to call back and talk to someone else who won't help you, won't listen to you and won't let you talk to a manager. This kind of behavior makes me so angry. It's essential I receive my meds and when you can't get OptumRX to help you, you have nowhere left to turn. I'm only using them because United Healthcare makes it mandatory. They are terrible.
Upon repeated calls they were not able to help me get my medication in a timely minor. I had to go days without the medication. If something happens to me because I could not get my medication in a timely manor, I hold them soley responsible.
My doctor has called in my perception, then faxed in my prescription and they still say there waiting on the prescription from the doctor. Funny how the doctor calls the local pharmacy and I can pick it up the same day? I have totally exhausted my patience with this company.
I don't know where their call centers but it certainly is not in the US. So many calls, so many emails and I end up going to my Walgreens where I then have to pay full price. What good is insurance if you cant you use it. Their managers and executives pay no attention. I happy to see my company is not using OptumRX in the coming year.
Have used Optumrx.com for about a year now. The only problems I've had originate from my doctor's office (soon to be my ex doctor's office). Twice the doctor's office refused a refill, for no reason. I went to my Optumrx web page, clicked on "request call back" and, 20 seconds later I got a computer generated call, 20 seconds after I pressed the number 1 I was speaking to a helpful rep who gave me the direct phone and fax numbers for my doctor's (soon to be my ex doctor's) office to call. Called my doctor's office and, 10 minutes later had an email from Optumrx that the refill order was received and my medication was on it's way. I have never waited more than 3 days for delivery of my medication except when my doctor's (soon to be my ex doctor's) office falls down on the job. Best prices, best service. Good on you, OptumRx!
Answer: They are a legitimate pharmacy benefits manager for United Healthcare, but their prices and practices leave alot to be desired.
Answer: Don't hold your breath - they are all about money - not customer service
Answer: You can send them a message on their website which they won't even read for days, so it's a useless feature. You can also call them at 1 (800) 356-3477 and sit on hold for 10 minutes before getting a person to talk to. In my experience, calling them has never resolved whatever issue I'm calling about, but you can talk to someone.
Answer: Only bad part of this united plan. Optum is worse than poor. They misplace Rx's and then lie
