If you use their website, they have a "chat now" feature. I have used it several times to ask about the ordering process. There is a live person on the chat within 20 seconds, and each person I've talked to has been very nice and informative. My order is going through quickly and they were able to check the availability of my meds before my doctor even sent in my Rx. A lot of other reviews left very bad comments about their customer service. They must not have seen the online chat option.
I have 4 prescriptions. 2 of which they will not cover at all so I have to use other services(scripts RX, etc) and the other 2…it's a circus act getting them and I'm not sure where the alleged savings are either. I was misquoted on the pricing and good grief, am I ever tired of being the middle-man. Constantly wanting prior authorization and can't seem to find the ones confirmed to be sent. I sure hope my employer ditches them soon. Worst prescription provider I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with, hands down.
Absolutely the worst pharmacy benefit manager I've ever dealt with. They refuse payment for clearly indicated medication's. They state there are appeals when I prescribe a cheap and effective medicine. The appeals process is impossible so that both providers and patients always just "give up." responsible employers, should not use this company.
When you call them, you are answered by a robot who ask Many questions. Speaking in plain english is not enough because you are asked to repeat. Very infuriating. Then when finally a representative (make sure you say advocate not csr) answers, this person has a thick foreign accent which is virtually unintelligible. I'm unsure to what I even agreed to. Then after first agreeing to take a survey you stay on the line and Nothing. I've been with united health care of years, but no more!
In my personal experience, the service provided is extremely poor. Reps answering the phone are most of the time clueless. What are their responsibilities and service to their customers? Don't know. Depending who answers the phone, the answers change. Transferring a prescription or filling a prescription takes way to long. The worst encounter I had was when rep asked me for an affidavit in addition to my prescription from my doctor for my thyroid medication. They have the app and you get quickly someone on the phone but most of the people i talked to was like pulling teeth.
All my medications are covered under my United Healthcare coverage; however, Optumrx is saying my asthma inhaler may not be covered and they want my card info for any payments pending. Never had to pay before and been on this med for years. I thought this would be a good option for me but not anymore.
I have found their mail service. They ensure you are supposed to get the medicine, confirm it's being sent and that it has been received. I needed to correct an error I had made. Thinking I probably wasn't going to get a response, but having a few minutes spare time, I called on a Sunday afternoon. The call was promptly answered by a real person (surprise!) who accessed my file immediately, understood my situation, and made the requested change. I didn't have to deal with one robot or drop down menu. What a pleasure.
Of any business I've dealt with in my 60 yrs Optumrx has truly been the kindest, most patient, understanding, helpful & knowledgeable company I've dealt with. Every single time I've called (a lot) has been great. They text me everyday to remind me to take meds, email me to remind me to refill meds & were very helpful by offering a coupon for very expensive meds etc. They go above & beyond to see you get taken care of properly. They mailed my meds & i got them the next day. I've nothing but good to say. Highly recommend.
My spouse and I were pushed to this plan by UHC. UHC promised a seamless transition. We have had nothing but horrible experiences during the nearly four months using the insurance. They only care about savings for themselves and don't care about the health of the patients. They question the medication our doctors have prescribed without looking at our previous health issues, allergies etc. VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY AND WOULD DUMP IT IF COULD.
Dealing with these people is a nightmare. They fill a Generic RX without informing you that the RX received as written by a Dr is not available, then bait & switch it to brand name at high cost. My RX is 24hr ER 1xper day, they give me 12hr ER 2xper day! Then switched it to brand name (1xper day) cost $131.00 without any notice! I canceled both, yet they still send the wrong RX! I cancel again 2/8/24 still shows as being sent! Save yourself a big hassle, don't go with Optum, they are terrible. Their Pharmacists refuse to fill RX's because "they" feel a med is not right for you, without any medical training in Cardiology. A Dr prescribes this for me, guess I'm still alive Optum! If this prevents me from getting the correct RX at my old Pharmacy, I will be really, really mad! Zero stars if possible!
Answer: They are a legitimate pharmacy benefits manager for United Healthcare, but their prices and practices leave alot to be desired.
Answer: Don't hold your breath - they are all about money - not customer service
Answer: You can send them a message on their website which they won't even read for days, so it's a useless feature. You can also call them at 1 (800) 356-3477 and sit on hold for 10 minutes before getting a person to talk to. In my experience, calling them has never resolved whatever issue I'm calling about, but you can talk to someone.
Answer: Only bad part of this united plan. Optum is worse than poor. They misplace Rx's and then lie
