Miserable company! Twice now my son's medication has been switched from our normal pharmacy to Optum, without permission or authority. We then have to jump through hoops to get it switched back, esp as this rx is required to be refrigerated! I would never choose to do business with them.
I have been forced to debate with customer service on more than 3 occasions. These always led to an insult thrown at me as a "inferior person" at the end. I give them the information I have from their website and I am told it can't possibly be correct, I am wrong! My records have been deleted twice. No notifications about it begin hold or something has to be done by me. I just desperately call when my aged mother is almost out of medicine and her pills haven't arrived yet. I get excuses and reasons I have screwed up and insults. Really? Worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Disheveled mess of business practices. Only one star because I can't put 0.
I have never dealt with a more inefficient, customer-unfriendly, unprofessional, and all-around terrible company. It is a shame that any company would use this pathetic group to do anything for them. Apparently, the companies that utilize OptumRX are interested in abusing and defrauding their employees. If possible, avoid this company at all cost.
I have had a prescription for several years set up as a 90 day refill. They decided they needed a longer processing time so changed my refill timing to every 60 days? WTH? A 90 day supply delivered to me every 60 days? That is way too much.
I had to go in and change to refill by manual request and they managed to screw that up - drawing out the processing time to several weeks. So I ran out. Have ordered an emergency supply from my doctor while awaiting the delivery which still hasn't come. Hope to get another emergency order to tide me over.
I'm a liver transplant patient, so I've dealt with a lot of pharmacies before but these guys are the worst. I always keep at least $50 in my account for my meds ($15 is my co-pay) They had my zip code for my debit card wrong and kept sending me my pills but did not inform me the charges weren't going through. I ended up with over $100 in charges which with a $15 is about 6 months. When I asked what they were going to do for me since as far as I knew I had been paying, all I got was a generic bs empathy statement from an outsourced call center. I won't even mention all the times my pills were late or I was in the phone for hours with customer service because no one could do a simple refill. Avoid this company at all costs
I was forced to take Optum mail order by my union. I have been on the phone nearly everyday this month as I am being given conflicting emails and stories from Optum representatives. You cannot believe an email or representative. This is the worst run service ever! Conversely, my husbands orders usually come but he's constantly told to call back to speak to a representative. When he does call, they have no clue as to why he's calling! Do not sign up with this company. Not reliable at all!
Optum rx could care less about customer service or anything else for that matter. I have yet to receive a shipment on time. These guys are giving the absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. How is this even legal! When you dial the number for the pharmacy they ask if you would like to participate in a survey after the call. I'm sitting here right now on hold with them. It's kind of hard to end the call when they don't even answer it. This is absolutely ridiculous!
For many years I've been taking Januvia and with downloadable coupon with previous insurance paid $5.00 for month supply.
Now those idiots stepped up, declared that Step 2 medication so I have to prove them something and left me with 90 days supply and no alternatives for $120.00.
If to compare $5.00 x 3 = $15.00 and $120.00 it is a rip off.
Those people have no concerns or compassion to people.
Their associates are rude on the phone.

Can I give a negative star review? Called multiple times to get them to issue prescriptions and then blamed providers for them not being approved. Funny I never had any issue getting them through Walgreens before... ever? And when I didn't have them for a MONTH (dangerous) they would not let a local pharmacy dispense the prescriptions. And now they won't submit the insurance authorization on a new prescription sent oh you know a week ago. How is this company even legal? BBB take these guys down please.
This company is evil and profit-focused. Their standard practice is denying prescription medications that insured users need, all in the name of profit. They make it so difficult to get the medicines you need to be covered. As they are part of United Healthcare, it's easy to see that they are profit-focused, not focused on helping they're insured. My experience with Optumrx has been very poor, but unfortunately, they give you no choice. Watch the movie "Sicko" and you'll understand how profit-driven the health insurance industry is.
Answer: They are a legitimate pharmacy benefits manager for United Healthcare, but their prices and practices leave alot to be desired.
Answer: Don't hold your breath - they are all about money - not customer service
Answer: You can send them a message on their website which they won't even read for days, so it's a useless feature. You can also call them at 1 (800) 356-3477 and sit on hold for 10 minutes before getting a person to talk to. In my experience, calling them has never resolved whatever issue I'm calling about, but you can talk to someone.
Answer: Only bad part of this united plan. Optum is worse than poor. They misplace Rx's and then lie
